TNA wants Bob Knight and more...
- WWE has signed 2007 Diva Search contestant Taryn Terrell. She has appeared in Playboy in the past and had a one week tryout with WWE last year after the Diva Search ended. WWE has photos of her available here.
- The reason Triple H missed RAW on Monday is because his brother-in-law, Gordon B. Ouellette, passed away at the age of 41. Gordon was married to Triple H's sister, Lynn Levesque. [WrestlingObserver.com]
- John Laurinaitis and Ty Bailey (head of WWE development) are heading to OVW tomorrow for a meeting with developmental talent and will then go to FCW for a meeting with talent there. [PWInsider.com]
- TNA posted this on their website today.
TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING OFFERS COACHING JOB TO BOB KNIGHT
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling is offering its first-ever Head Coaching job to Bob Knight, the all-time winningest Division I men's basketball coach known as much for his coaching genius as his fiery temper, who resigned Monday in the middle of the season as the Texas Tech coach.
"TNA Wrestling was shocked, like the rest of the sports world, to hear Coach Knight resigned," said Jeff Jarrett, co-founder of TNA Wrestling, who was a high school and junior college basketball player in Tennessee before becoming a professional wrestler. "Coach Knight is a sports icon and we'd be thrilled and honored to have him join the ranks, to further build TNA Wrestling into a national power, much like he did for Texas Tech."
Knight, 67, has been a head coach for 42 years at three Division I schools: Army, Indiana and Texas Tech. Knight won three national championships, including his 1976 Indiana team that went undefeated, a feat no team has done since. In 1984, he coached the U.S. Olympic team to a gold medal in Los Angeles.
TNA Wrestling has a lighter schedule than college basketball which should appeal to Coach Knight, Jarrett said, and TNA not only endorses chair-throwing, but has an endless supply of steel chairs.
In addition to Jarrett, the TNA Wrestling roster also features Kevin Nash who, during his high school basketball career in Michigan had an in-home recruiting visit from Knight. Nash, though, ultimately played at the University of Tennessee, then professionally in Germany.
TNA Wrestling delivers a distinct brand of high-risk, athletic entertainment. TNA's roster includes the biggest names in wrestling today, such as Kurt Angle, Booker T, and Christian Cage, as well as the hottest new stars in the business: A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe and the Motor City Machineguns. TNA features the innovative six-sided ring and the high flying X-Division, as well as concept matches such as "Ultimate X," "King of the Mountain," "Six Sides of Steel," "Lethal Lockdown" and "Elevation X," considered the most dangerous match in professional wrestling.
TNA Entertainment, LLC is a privately held company headquartered in Nashville, TN. For more information, visit www.tnawrestling.com. TNA programming is available in over 100 countries. "TNA iMPACT" airs every Thursday night on Spike TV (9:00 – 11:00 PM, ET/PT). Spike TV is available in 96.1 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks.

Man TNA is stupid
They're really pushing it. Kevin Nash had an in home visit! Like 30 years ago hooray! It's not like Knight even coached him.
TNA YOU SUCK

Apparently TNA will sign anyone these days. When Vick gets out of jail at least he will have a job.
Sorry to hear that about HHH.

That sucks for Triple H and his sister.

lol, TNA, you never cease to amaze me.
TNA must be desperate to have their name mentioned on ESPN as much as possible.

Age 41? Wow. I wonder if he had some sort of previous medical condition.

Another unsucessful sports angle on TNA? Sure why not?

A lot of people are dying at this kind of age people , that's how life is .
Hell Heath Ledger died at age 28 with a heart attack .
Anything is possible in life and the most important precious thing is GOOD HEALTH
Definitively, the rest is nothing

Wow, poor Lynn Levesque... Kudos to Trips for being there for her... I want to offer my condolences too...

It's even more hilarious they advertise the X-Division as if it isnt't being bitched out by the Dudleyz on a weekly basis

You people amaze me. Are you so blind in your hatred for TNA's product that you can seriously tell me that having Bob Knight involved in TNA wouldn't be funny as Hell? Like any other big name TNA uses, the ratings probably wouldn't increase. But the potential for backstage segments is almost endless.

"Hell Heath Ledger died at age 28 with a heart attack" - Didn't he die of a drug overdose? That's what the latest news report I read claimed...

I suppose the pharmacy he had in his bloodstream had something to do with it too.

I think you're all missing the big picture here and that's the simple fact that the WWE HAS YET ANOTHER FREAKING DIVA ON THE ROSTER!

Bobby Knight and Kevin Nash vs. Bullet Bob and BG James for the tag team titles. Yes!

I think it's great WWE signed Taryn.
Posted By: marty (Guest) on February 06, 2008 at 11:01 PM
So the WWE release high quality people in OVW for some chick that should be doing soft core porn?
Hrmm....

TNA is proud to introduce the NEW x-division champion, Bobby Knight!!!!
Posted By: rey (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 12:02 AM
I swear on my life that I will never watch TNA if they sign that piece of $hit Knight.
My condolences to HHH and his family.
Posted By: aaron (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 12:11 AM
Wow, am I the only one thinking that Knight would probably be used backstage? It could be a good move as the guy could keep the boys in the back motivated, and with them going live, keeping motivation is a big thing.
Posted By: Travis (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 02:49 AM
Yesssss! TNA to sign a Basketball couch! Brilliant move! How about they sign a paraplegic in a wheelchair, push him to the moon and have hime in the X, Tag and World titles at the next PPV. I'm seriously considering swiching to ROH if I can - this crap is WWE lite.
Posted By: JAK (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 05:50 AM
Ah, it was GORDON Ouellette. I think I said Paul before, which is of course Triple H's name. Whatever, condolences are necessitated.

Just hire Ray Lloyd and have him bring back his Coach Buzz Stern gimmick. If that don't work he can be Glacier again
Posted By: GovernmentCheese (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 08:55 AM
Barbed wire basketball hoop on a pole match with Bobby Knight as the special guest referee.
BOOK IT RUSSO YOU MORON YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO
TNA = approaching Britney Spears screw up stupidity
Why not Bobby Knight though, I mean Pacman Jones, Dale Torborg, David Eckstein...THOSE were all good ideas...

*Waits to see who gets canned in OVW and FCW after Ace & Company goes to see them*
Posted By: Martin (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 11:24 AM
I have personally worked with Bob Knight in Lubbock, TX, and he is a first class prick. He is the biggest dick I have ever met, not to mention he treats people like shit. TNA would be making a huge mistake by hiring Knight. Knight is a total prick, and I doubt many wrestlers would take kindly to him just walking in and trying to throw his weight around.
Posted By: JSN (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 12:04 PM
first off, Knight would never sign, just JJ getting some PR. It would be like asking Bischoff to coach UNC, especially after the ass-kicking the received from DUKE last night hahahahaha

And they only pull a 1.1? HAHAHAHAHAHA TNA Still has alot of work to do. They lose the X Division, Im boycotting. It is by far the best part of TNA becides Tomko and Styles. But wait, wasnt Styles X Division at one time? My Point.
Posted By: Maticus (Guest) on February 07, 2008 at 08:42 PM
I hate Bob Knight and TNA yet I would pay money to see both of them humliate themselves.
