Various News: Lashley’s Future, Live Impact, Royal Rumble PPV Buys and More

March 20, 2008 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Bobby Lashley’s management has been putting his name out to several MMA groups, including UFC. With Brock Lesnar’s success, Elite XC maybe interested in a match with he and Kimbo Slice. UFC isn’t that high on Lashley, even though Brock was a success as a draw. UFC doesn’t want to repeat the same deal with Lashley. The thought is that if Lashley could earn a few small wins on the smaller circuits, then UFC might show interest. Lashley has trained for MMA, but not for many years. He is financially well off, so he doesn’t have to jump into a commitment right away.

– Internally TNA is hoping for a 1.3 rating and to set a viewers record for the live show on March 27th.

– Top WWE DVD Sales:
* John Cena – 211,000
* Shawn Michaels – 188,000
* Rey Mysterio – 143,000

– The WWE Royal Rumble PPV is currently estimated at doing 534,000 worldwide PPV buys, with 336,000 of those being domestic buys. Last year’s show did 525,000 worldwide buys, with 347,000 domestic. With late buys still to come in the feeling is that they will top last year’s domestic buys.
