WWE Tells Its Wrestlers To Stay Away From TNA Wrestlers
Posted by Ashish on 03.27.2008

WWE told its wrestlers at a meeting yesterday to not socialize or be seen with TNA wrestlers over the course of WrestleMania week. WWE feels that TNA is piggybacking off their week by holding special events like tonight's live Impact. Both WWE's Fan Axxess Tour and TNA's Impact take place at Universal Studios in Orlando.

WWE wrestlers were not told to stay away from ROH wrestlers that are also in town for special ROH shows.

"WWE wrestlers were not told to stay away from ROH wrestlers that are also in town for special ROH shows." Yeah because WWE doesn't see an INDY WITH NO TV DEAL as competition.

WOW. So I guess the 'E feels threatened? wtf? by TNA?? Again WOW

Posted By: Alex (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:40 PM

For fuck's sakes.

Of course TNA is riding the E's coattails! Vince would be doing the same thing if he was in Dixie's position!

I really, REALLY do not understand Vince McMahon's position on things anymore. The man needs to be thrown out of the industry before he ruins it.

And...banning his wrestlers from talking or hanging out with TNA wrestlers? Sure, that will scare the lower-card guys, but if Cena, 'Taker, Batista, Edge and the like do it, what will he do?

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FIP WRESTLERS????????????????

Posted By: SMYK (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:43 PM

TNA Piggybacking off the WWE? ... Like maybe getting regular mentions on the WWE website?

Posted By: WTFtheworld (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:45 PM

The E shouldn't feel threatened by TNA or ROH. Even with a TV deal TNA is still absolutely no threat to them.

Posted By: Dan (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:45 PM

Sucks for Edge, two of his best friends are in TNA in Rhyno and Christian.

Posted By: Brendan (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:48 PM

Yeah, it's just a competition thing. Least people like Punk can be happy, so odds are he'll be the Sat. show.

Posted By: Kevin F. (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:53 PM

"BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FIP WRESTLERS????????????????"
I laughed REALLY hard at this, thank you.

Posted By: Crazy (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 07:56 PM

duh we all knew edge is friends with christian and rhyno.

and puhlease

TNA will NEVER be competition to WWE.

they'll only giving them publicity from their website. enjoy it while they can.

"WWE told its wrestlers at a meeting yesterday to not socialize or be seen with TNA wrestlers over the course of WrestleMania week"

Its only a week, why you all blowing this way out of proportion?

Posted By: Blaze (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah and WWE posts TNA press releases on its website...how incredibly retarded for them to hypocritically put out this stupidity.

Posted By: Crimefighter (Registered)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:00 PM

They're competition. About 1/3 the size of WWE and growing.

If TNA ditches that stupid name and improves their programming, they've got a chance to rival WWE. It's not like WWE has put out a decent product for the past 8 years or so.

77%

Those are the odds that Punk gets in trouble for hanging out with Samoa Joe >_>

makes perfect business sense. odds are good that WWE talent know how certain matches are going to turn out at Wrestlemania, so why tempt fate by having WWE talent associate with other companies talents?

this the the biggest event of the year regardless of what federation it is, i would be disappointed if the WWE didn't clamp down.

To repspond to what Brendan said, I've love to see Edge just catch up with Christian and Rhyno. I mean, for no other reason than to stick it to the WWE. And if they don't like it, then I guess Edge will become TNA's next great superstar.

Close to friends but can't even spend time with them because they work for a different company. That has to hurt

Posted By: TWilliams (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:10 PM

"About 1/3 the size of WWE and growing."

When you are doing 25-30K buyrates, you not a 1/3 of the WWE. Period.

what if cody rhodes and goldust wanna hang out

Posted By: dan (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:16 PM

Obviously he doesnt want any embarassing incidents to go down. If I am correct both Edge and Christian have homes in Florida probably close to eachother so basically they just dont want any stuff to go down that would bring bad press over the WM weekend.

Posted By: DaveJuk (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:16 PM

Of course TNA Piggybacking off WWE. Its the only way that company will gain any exposure. This is fucking WRESTLEMANIA there is nothing wrong with this at all. You want to fuck up your biggest payday cause you cant wait a week to hangout with your TNA buddies... goodbye.

You are here to make money and entertain not to hang with your friends

TNA wrestlers should dress like zombies and follow some WWE wrestlers.

I'd be funny as hell to somebody like Kane run away from Zombie-Sonjay Dutt.

Posted By: TrueIndeed (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:33 PM

The reason why WWE don't want their superstar to talk with the tna'er is because "Vinny MAC" do not want his superstar hanging with a lower class wrestling promotion such as tna,or ROH, think of the WWE as a rich family that does not want to be seen in public with the poor tna Peeps....All tna does is freeload off of WM 24 extravaganza week..hell they're even at the Hall of Fame ceromony in hoping to be seen as a tna wrestler on WWE television...Shame on you tna for free loading ,Shame on you Dixie carter for doing such act as "Shark boy 3:16" Im Very dissapionted as a fan...

this could actually cause alot of problems. there are probably alot of people, cody and dustin rhodes, punk/joe, edge/rhyno/christian...i'm gonna call bullshit. vince is just being a dick.

Posted By: hellboysetsfire (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:48 PM

This is actually 50/50 good and bad. Bad because some WWE and TNA Wrestlers are friends with each other, while it's good because there wouldn't be fights.

Posted By: PJ (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:57 PM

The megapowers collide! Haha just kidding. Seriously who the hell is gonna stop 'Taker or Edge hell even HBK or HHH from talking to TNA guys?

Posted By: JM (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 08:59 PM

I bet the E wouldn't mind if Sting wants to hang out backstage during Flair's match, or if Samoa Joe wanted to watch Punk on Sunday...

Posted By: Josh (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 09:01 PM

It will take one, just one, really effective angle to put TNA in a position of competition to WWE. Remember the nWo? I don't care what you WWE marks say, they have been treading water with hardly any memorable angles for what seems like forever.

Posted By: D-Steak (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 09:02 PM

I have to agree with Dan. You can't stop brothers from hanging out.

And this is only for jobbers. Cena, Trips, Edge, Taker and the like are not included.

Quite obviously a response to the whole thing with Tommy Dreamer from a little while ago

"TNA wrestlers should dress like zombies and follow some WWE wrestlers.

That would be hilarious! "No get away! I'll get fired if you come any closer!!!!"

It's only a week. I don't think Edge and Christian, and Cody and Fatdust are having sexual relationships, and they are big boys now! So I fully imagine they can last 7 days without hugging each other and taking each other shoe shopping.

Posted By: ButchReedMark (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 09:54 PM

I think this is America the Beautiful and the Land of the Free.

WWE has no authority over anyone, including their wrestlers. Now if they do not want to get fired from associating with other organizations than someone in that very organizations view TNA as a potential threat and is afraid that they might lose someone to TNA.
That just goes to show how greedy someone in that alliance is.

I do not recall anyone from TNA, much less Dixie Carter tell their wrestlers that they could not associate with the wwe.

The more I hear about this the less I will stop watching the WWE.

TNA is a threat.

Smell the coffee WWE. and tell the fans the truth!!

Yeah WWE marks judging from this policy obviously they don't view TNA as any form of competition at all please some of you marks are just sad. In a month the titles will be on Cena in WWE and Samoa Joe in TNA its fine watch raw I'll watch the company that actually has a champion I care about and most people do as well. Besides if you don't want the other company to ride your coattails don't hold your big show in their backyard you know like what ECW used to do. To the morons complaining especially TNA learn how to do business this is one way of doing it.

it'd be cool to see some RoH and WWE guys fraternizing...

Bye Bye Robbie McAllister?

i think it has much more to do with the incident where Shawn Michaels was inadvertently passing storyline information to Kevin Nash when Nash had the book in WCW, Robin.

as for brothers hanging out...if cody rhodes wants to keep his job, then i guess he should talk to his brother after the show.

Vince is protecting the biggest show of the year, and all the little smarks are just pissed off because it means there will be minimal spoilers if any.

so, go grab a tampon and stop your crying ladies. this is a good business call on McMahon's part.

Punk is screwed. He has to choose between his job, and his love of Joe. My money's on Joe.

Posted By: Guest#1277 (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 10:54 PM

Darth Mortis, your anti-smark act is old. Anyway, I guess Rory McAllister is fucked. This is hypocritical. They act like TNA is riding off of them, and at the same time promotes them on their website.

Posted By: JJ (Guest)  on March 27, 2008 at 10:54 PM

Well apparently Robbie McAllister didn't get the message. He was caught on camera at Impact tonight.

I love reading these comments, they make me laugh.

How is Orlando TNA's backyard? They started running shows in Nashville, and then moved to Orlando, and they run in ONE PLACE THERE. They don't tour Florida, they run in one arena, at Universal Studios.

And I'm not sure why WWE telling their wrestlers not to intermingle with other promotion's wrestlers on their biggest weekend of the year is WWE "being afraid" of TNA. It's for one week. And they were told to stay away from them. That means hanging out in public, being seen with someone from another promotion. They can still talk to each other on the phone, if they so chose to do so. To me, it's just WWE selectively choosing when and when not to preserve kayfabe. It'd be weird to be a fan that wasn't really "in the know" and see two wrestlers from rival promotions hanging out and being friendly when in all actuality, their current situations should have them atleast at odds with each other.

And yes, TNA and ROH are piggybacking off of WWE and Wrestlemania. It's not the first time that ROH has done this, and it won't be the last. ROH is SO much different of a product than WWE, it's ridiculous to think of them as competition. They're not. And ROH is 100% ok with that. They've got no reason to compete with WWE. You don't have to compete with the top promotion to be successful. They can make money and survive with their own style. And running a show where Wrestlemania is being held, that's just smart business. You may get some fans who are there for Mania, and see a cheaper wrestling show on a different night and be like "Hey, why don't I check that out?". The new fan may love or hate what they see, but it's simple business. You expand your company where it can financially help you. And history has shown that every year ROH runs on Mania weekend, they get record breaking crowds and have blow away shows.

Did I rant? Hell I didn't mean to rant. My apologies.

Because E wrestlers would get their asses beat. Thats why.

Posted By: Papa Caraho (Guest)  on March 28, 2008 at 12:20 AM

I think it would be foolish of WWE and the WWE fanbois here to dismiss TNA as a threat. I know this is kinda of a corny comparison but once upon a time a small retail store that was trying to make a move up the retail latter wasnt taken seriously by the bigger retail chains. That small retailer was WalMart. WWE biggest mistake would to think they have no competition.

Posted By: Shane (Guest)  on March 28, 2008 at 12:41 AM

I read here a while ago that vince wanted wwe.com to be more of a industry news website that would explain tna press releaases posted on site and promos for ppv and impact. with the ratings impact get it will be a long while before tna is a threat to wwe. But I think thats what vince needs to step up his creative "game"

Posted By: rba (Guest)  on March 28, 2008 at 01:06 AM

I think the wwe is making this rule of not hanging out together with tna stars so tna doesn't get footage and use it on tv stating how even wwe stars hang out with top tna talent or something along them lines, These are grown adults on both sides so if they want to hang out together there is a million ways of accomplishing it... I think everyone is reading to much into this.

Posted By: akawildfire (Guest)  on March 28, 2008 at 01:07 AM

an anti-smark stance can never get old when the smarks keep dropping down the intellectual ladder.

nothing wrong with smart fans, don't get me wrong at all...i consider myself a smart fan. the smarks, however...man, that is a different story. not matter how smart they try to be, they just never quite get there.

anyway, regarding Robbie MacAllister, the question should be did he even know about the edict? it is not as if he is doing anything more than jobbing in dark matches 1000 kilometers away from the television cameras these days.

and, yea, any WWE talent who breaks the rules deserves their release.

Billy Jack...seriously...WWE wrestlers are independent contractors who agree to abide by the rules that the WWE set out, and if they don't wanna then they go. stop confusing the real world with the 'land of the free, home of the brave' dogma. in case you were unaware, the protections that the american constitution offers applies ONLY to protect the people from the government, not the people from the employer, or the people from the other people. only from the government...that is what makes the american constitution one of the greatest documents in the world.

I feel that TNA showing Robbie was a cheap move. All they did was use the WWE name. I guarantee that there was a TNA guy in the crowd of a WWE show there is no way he makes TV time. I wonder if he will get in trouble?

The other wrestlers that are friends will find a way around it to get together. All it takes is for one wrestler to go up to another wrestlers room and nobody knows.

Posted By: Dakota (Guest)  on March 28, 2008 at 01:35 AM

So apparently Orlando = WWE Land, even if it's the home of TNA currently? And TNA can't run IMPACT during Wrestlemania week because they are "piggy backing" on the WWE? Does anyone else not see something wrong with this?

Posted By: Travis (Guest)  on March 28, 2008 at 09:00 AM

So if Nash comes to Wrestlemania to watch two of his closest friends in two of the biggest matches of the night, HBK in the Flair retirement match and HHH in the main event, Vince is going to fire HBK and HHH??? Yea F'N right...

The TNA wrestlers should do an InVasion angle at Wrestlemania... hope they bought some ringside tickets...
