WWE News: New Backlash Match, Backlash Card, Deuce/Domino Angle, More

Saturday WWE news update!
- Matt Hardy vs. MVP for the WWE US Title has been added to the Backlash card.
- The updated Backlash card:
* The Undertaker vs. Edge for the World Title
* Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. John Cena vs. JBL for the WWE Title
* Big Show vs. The Great Khali
* Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero for the ECW Title
* Batista vs. Shawn Michaels
- WWE.com is pushing an angle here where Deuce and Domino tell Cherry that they are surprised she made it far in the diva competition and said if she dressed better, she would have gone further. Maryse then comes in and is all over Domino and Deuce is very into her too. The angle seems to be teasing that Cherry is now on the outside looking in, or that she will start dressing sluttyer soon, or something along those lines.
- WWE is advertising a Undertaker, Kane, and Batista vs. Edge, Big Show, and Chavo Guerrero main event for the 5/20 Smackdown/ECW taping in Des Moines, IA.
Sittin front row for SD/ECW in DSM, the 6man looks like shit. I'm gonna say it now, 10min match, faces win, with Taker getting the pin on Chavo.
ECW was live last year when they came to town so I would assume it will be again, but the E has been taping it lately so who knows.
And if that's true about Cherry dressing slut-ish, I'm all for it. D&D tore up my sign last year that said "I wanna eat Cherry Pie" Facists.

this is looking like a pretty cool card. Batista/HBK will be off the hook as will Edge/Taker. MVP/Hardy will be really good as well and Show/Khali will be quite a spectacle. The Fatal Four Way is a little unnecessary but sure to produce a fine match. looking forward to it.

Vince should just get it out of his system and change every diva's name to 'Slutty Diva #x'.
I liked Cherry because she wasn't some nasty tramp with a vanaynay reeking of rotten tuna (like most other divas, especially that tarp Ashley and the new and empowered slutty Maria)

I'm not sure we should be reading into the Cherry thing as her dressing more provocative. Keep in mind that during the Divas competition she behind in a manner befitting a babyface. Deuce and Domino are heels. This might just be a split angle wherein Cherry ditches the boys. She does have her own music now, after all!

Agreed, TNA has a woman's division with talented women. WWE sends out interchangeable girls dressed like sluts for "water fights" and "bikini showdowns"

That's the other amusing thing in this piece. Deuce & Domino have gone from former tag team champs to jobbers on the roster that are about as important as The Brooklyn Brawler was. Fuck knows why.
I'm not a fan of their ring work at all and think they're not that much good to watch, but right now WWE needs more proper tag teams rather than jobbing them all out.

Ugh, who said Cherry was going to dress sluttier? If anything, it's just gonna lead to a split, like what was mentioned in a prior comment. Stop taking so much stock in what someone else who DOESN'T work for WWE THINKS might happen.
Also, can we go one article that mentions a WWE Diva without having someone mention the grossly overrated Knockouts Division that basically consists of three serious competitors and a bunch of skanks or people who can't show off their actual ability because of crappy gimmicks?

Also, I prefer Beth Phoenix as a monster heel over Kong because she beats the crap out of the other girls but still maintains some level of femininity while doing it.
On the other hand, watching Awesome Kong wrestle is like watching Mark Henry, Big Daddy V, or Abdullah the Butchter beat up a woman.

True considering she's bigger than a good portion of the male roster. Logically she'd be pretty much invincible against women who aren't even half her size, she should be wrestling men and would be more believable doing it. At least from what I've seen they don't have the smaller rest of the women going toe to toe with her.
Beth Phoenix at least isn't a giant compared to the rest of the female roster, however she needs a better finisher IMO.

Cherry is the only Diva on SD who was actually a wrestler before she signed with WWE....so perhaps she's being underused as a valet for the greasers? Seeing a real female wrestler get a push is more encouraging than just getting another playboy model in.

I propose a brand split on 411. One version for all the smark douches to bitch about Cena, HHH, Angle, the Knockouts, both Vinces and "OMGZ skank modelzzz"... and one for people who simply want a wrestling news site. That way the shallow end of the gene pool can be kept away from the rest of us.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I would prefer for every diva to have at least a few months during their WWE career where they dress like Lita did with Edge. I'm really hoping somewhere down the road they make Torrie strictly a valet and give her such attire to wear.
It's unfortunate that Krystal didn't accept it, but I blame WWE more so for not altering the way they presented the idea to her. They should of told her instead of being like Lita, she would be a "super heroine" and basically given her the same outfits Lita wore, but all of them would be white instead of black like most of Lita's tops, and Krystal would of probably accepted the idea, and it would of been a win-win situation for everyone.
