WWE House Show Results 4.17.08 – Sheffield, England

Thanks to 411 Reader Chris for sending these house show results along!

I’m a long-time reader of 411, and a first-time emailer. Just thought I’d drop you a line to tell you the results from tonight’s Smackdown & ECW house show, from the WrestleMania Revenge Tour at the Hallam FM Arena in Sheffield, England.

– MATCH 1 – TRIPLE THREAT – Kofi Kingston vs. Kenny Dykstra vs. Jamie Noble

Kenny got the opening heat here, drawing plenty of “Kenny Sucks” chants. Kofi got the win with a roll-up. Decent opening match. Jamie Nolan got a good standing ovation when leaving the ring.

– MATCH 2 – WWE TAG TITLE MATCH – John Morrison & The Miz vs. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore

Morrison and Miz got on the mic before the match to say how great they were, and how we were all poor and pathetic. Great way to draw plenty of boos! Good fast-paced match, with Morrison getting the pin with his funny swinging neckbreaker thing.

– MATCH 3 – Kelly Kelly vs. Victoria

Generic Diva match, with Kelly getting the pin by reversing the Widow’s Peak into a sunset flip. Best part of the match – Kelly’s TINY hot pants that kept falling down, exposing her behind.

– MATCH 4 – Tommy Dreamer vs. Mark Henry

Rather bad, rather short match, with Mark Henry getting the win via submission with a bear hug after Tommy came off the top rope.

– MATCH 5 – Batista & Finlay w/ Hornswaggle vs. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder

Very good match, with lots of comedy. The crowd was HOT for Batista, despite his recent heel-ish attitude on TV lately, and Big Dave was lapping it up and having a great time. Very funny part of the match where Hornswaggle got dragged into the ring by the heels and threw down his jacket wanting to fight. Then he pulls out a water gun and sprays both of the heels. The heels then go for a double-clothesline on Horny, but he ducks and they run right into Batista and Finlay, who are also armed with HUGE water guns. They spray the heels, and then the ref. Very funny stuff. Batista gets the pin with the Batista Bomb.

– MATCH 6 – CM Punk vs. Shelton Benjamin

Punk was WAY over with the crowd, and had his MITB briefcase with him. Shelton also received a mixed reaction, it seems the fans haven’t forgotten how talented he is. Punk gets the win with the G2S.

– MATCH 7 – US TITLE MATCH – MVP vs. Matt Hardy

Matt was huge over and got one of the bigger pops of the night. MVP heeled it up before the match by talking about the British having bad teeth. Old, but it still works! Great match, with MVP getting the win by hitting Hardy with a chain behind the ref’s back. After the match, MVP went to hit Matt with the US Title, but Matt ducked and hit the Twist of Fate to keep the crowd happy.

– MATCH 8 – MAIN EVENT 6-MAN TAG – Chavo, Edge and Khali vs. Big Show, Kane & The Untertaker

Another good match, which saw Kane take most of the beatings from the heels, only to get the hot-tag to Taker and all hell broke loose. The end came where Kane and Taker hit stereo chokeslams on Chavo and Edge, and then Taker pinned Edge with the Tombstone. After the match, Big Show left to his own music (I managed to get a high five from him!), then Kane and Taker posed in the ring – first to Kane’s music, then to Taker’s. They did the whole “Brothers of Destruction” deal on the ramp, where they turn back to face the crowd and then hold the belts up.

Overall, a great, great, great show. The crowd was hot, the Superstars were having fun and I will certainly be back in November to see the Raw brand.
