TNA News: Morgan and Gladiators, Heat on Tomko, UK Tour Expectations and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 04.21.2008

- The reason Matt Morgan is off of American Gladiators is due to scheduling conflicts. Morgan was always going to be groomed for a big role in TNA, and while some on the booking committee wanted to use him as a wrestler three weeks into his run, they did hold off. With the Gladiators deal coming his way, the plan was to make him a player on TV, so that when Gladiators returned to the air, he would be a strong presence on TNA TV. Morgan went to Los Angeles a few weeks back to finalize his deal and to begin Gladiators practice. The Gladiators people wanted him to sign a two-year deal, with a six-year option. They also wanted Gladiators to be his first priority, including being available for potential touring. Morgan realized that this could lead to potential problems, and since he wanted to focus on pro-wrestling, he chose TNA in the end.

- Tomko has big time heat on him, which is why he and Styles dropped the tag team titles. The company requested he not work the 4.12 Osaka show in Japan, because that was the day of the TNA Lockdown Fanfest and had been set for a long time. Tomko went to Japan, worked the show and flew back for Lockdown. There is no explanation as to why Young and Kaz got the pin on Impact, since LAX were the #1 contenders and an LAX vs. Styles and Tomko feud had been penciled in.

- There is also a lot of heat in Rhaka Khan. TNA has signed a trading card deal, and as part of that deal each talent had to sign 1,000 of their cards for distribution. Khan didn't want to sign at the tapings, but opted to take them home to sign and then Fed-Ex them back to the office. Some other talents did this as well. The problem was when the card company got the cards, they were furious. Most of the signatures did not match, and they thought that she had "multiple people" do the signings for her. Also on some of the cards, both Rhaka and Khan were misspelled. She explained that she was getting tired of signing the cards, and then Jeff Jarrett made the call to drop her from the line of cards.

- TNA is expecting the UK tour to do very good business due to the price of the tickets and the expectation of merchandize sales. One of the shows will be taped for the next Global Impact special, and another possible DVD release.

- Former Puerto Rico headliner Mikael Judas had a dark match try out with the promotion last week, losing to Sonjay Dutt.

Do people still even collect cards? and is khan enough of a presence for kids to go out of their way to get one?

I'm always amused at the simple-mindedness that comes with the "Do people even ____?" question. It doesn't matter what it is, but people assume since they don't do something anymore, nobody must.

The sports card hobby is just as strong as ever. Just like comic books still sell, people still go to the movies, etc.

Kids aren't the only ones who collect, either.

if Tomko is under heat, why the fuck Styles did the job and not Tomko..

Because T and A just couldn't resist burying AJ Styles even more than they already have.

If I was Tomko, Japan would get the priority too. I am guessing they pay him as much for one match as TNA does in a month. It's a fanfest, let the guy make some money in the short window that he has available!

Styles jobbed because he is a midget and Tomko actually has a chance of making TNA money in the future

Siging your name 1000 times hurts. I should know; I'm Richard Petty.

Morgan is an idiot for not picking American Gladiators. He would have gotten far more exposure on that show than he ever will on TNA.

And to add to the if Tomko is getting heat backstage... why did TNA vacate the belts on such a stupid angle - this reeks like the WWE angle in which Vinnie Mac fired Hulk Hogan and then Mr. "blatantly Hogan" America turned up. Meh to stupid wrestling angles - just get on with the wrestling and leave idiot storylines to Soap operas.

"if Tomko is under heat, why the fuck Styles did the job and not Tomko.."

HHH did it.

Whether cards are worthwhile or not, messing people around like that over something so trivial is just stupid. It would have taken her an hour or two max - she could have done it while watching tv or something.

The Rhaka Khan story is tremendous. What a lazy cow.

As regards the Tomko story: "there is no explanation why Eric Young and Kaz got the pin"- sounds like TNA!

matt morgan: good dude.

Why is it Scott Steiner and Petey Williams are in such good shape and Rhaka Khan isn't? No abs, no definition?

Okay mr "rutherford" if that's your real name Vince.

Do people still post anonymous opinions on the internet anymore?

Why Styles get pinned? Because it was very short match, Super Eric can surprise AJ with this move, but he don't have enough size to pin Tomko with bridged suplex. Also such lose fits more into AJ's character. If Morgan wants to be wrestler, it was his choice deciding against Gladiators. He already spend few years in WWE without any significant result.

They thrive off his popularity in Japan, but they don't want him to work in Japan to maintain that good will and popularity with New Japan. Then they do a lame gimmick with the world tag titles that had gain some level of respectability. Oh TNA wont you ever learn?

With exception what Tomko get heat with New Japan after his match on IGF show. So Tomko lose both of his titles because he choice IGF show against New Japan wishes and after that New Japan show other TNA fanfest.

It's funny how 411 censors comments they don't like.

Why did my comment saying "Morgan should have picked gladiators, it'll get him more exposure than TNA ever will" get cut?

Because its true? Because Gladiators beats TNA in the ratings any which way you want to look at it?

Posted By: Manbearpig (Guest)  on April 21, 2008 at 02:42 PM

Manbearpig, your post didn't get cut, it's up there.

I love how some people cry and whine about their comments being posted. Grow up manbearfag or come up with something original that isn't bashing TNA.

I don't get the idea of meting a "punishment" that screws up plans for other wrestlers like Styles and LAX. Couldn't they just dock him a week's pay or something?
