Here's one way to get Impact going up: throw out the dead weight (Russo)

Posted By: Guest#9255 (Guest)  on May 02, 2008 at 09:20 PM

It's quite simple. The only way to pop the rating is MORE PPV GIMMICK MATCHES to determine #1 contenders for the next edition of Impact!

Posted By: Evil Doink (Guest)  on May 02, 2008 at 09:22 PM

The problem is that TNA needs someone to filter out Russos bad ideas and good ideas, its how the Attitude Era was so successful, because Russo had McMahon there to make sure things didnt go into complete stupidity.

TNA should have made Raven a head writer or booker, or at least given Paul Heyman an invite.

You want to get ratings up, TNA? Try this:

1.) Make PPV matches that count for something more than an advertisement for the next Impact.
2.) More wrestling on Impact.
3.) SHUT TENAY AND WEST UP.

Wow, they create another new gimmick match just to give undercard wrestlers something to do.

There we see the exact problem with TNA and gimmick matches. They don't see it as a significant to end a storyline, it's just run of the mill

the best way for tna's rating to go up is to eliminate matches that take don west and mike tenay 5-10 minutes to explain.

You know, its hard to get people to care about your characters when you've got 9000 people featured in 2 hours. Seriously, how many multi-person matches are there on any given TNA show? Too much is a BAD thing.

i see some one really getting hurt bad in this one. its only gonna take a slip of a hand

Posted By: Guest#9484 (Guest)  on May 02, 2008 at 10:04 PM

All they need is one man Mr. Eric Bischoff!

More wrestlers on PPV = Worst ppvs. Stop with the clustering. How about not having the tournament and have regular feuds that lead up to regualr matches. Also shouldn't the terror dome be used for the main event?

Posted By: Mr1700 (Guest)  on May 02, 2008 at 10:46 PM

What the hell is the Terror Dome?

I don't know. TNA needs to up their ratings to stick around a long time as I'm sure they will eventually move on to something else, but it is cable TV and I don't know that anything else in that timeslot would do better anyway.

I look at it like this, WWE's RAW rating has been slowly eroding since 2006, while TNA has stayed consistent, albeit a third or fourth of the WWE ratings.

Yes we need more vinnies ideas on Impact - maybe midget beatdowns & asskissing segments or incest! Yea you fag clowns would love that shit! If YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T WATCH!

Posted By: Dr Bob Onit (Guest)  on May 03, 2008 at 01:11 AM

Dr. Bob Onit, I guess a lot of people don't like impact then because nobody new seems to be watching. You're the typical blind TNA fan, you use that lame line and then try to bring up something WWE does. By the way, what incest are you talking about? There has been no hint of incest in the Burchill pairing since they debuted a few months ago.

Anyway, I'm beginning to think that even if they change their booking, TNA's ratings won't change. Many people still don't know about TNA and a lot that do have been turned off by the product over the past couple years that they won't come back.

Atleast 70% of TNA viewers are WWE viewers as well most likely. They don't have a chance of being more successful than WWE, but competition brings out the best in people they say.

No matter what they do, TNA will never spike in ratings. Not even Angle could do it. Although, Russo came in at the same time so...

fucking tna cant even come up with original gimmick matches the gotta rip off the dome idea from AAA lucha libre wrestling!

Posted By: guest (Guest)  on May 03, 2008 at 02:18 AM

The main thing is the storylines the Creative Team comes up with. We are given characters like Sharkboy Austin, Super Eric, Rellik, Black Reign, Black Machismo, and the list go could go on. TNA has some great wrestlers and a decent Women's Division but the storylines are terrible. Where has the X-Division gone? Where was the marketing plan once Samoa Joe became champion? Does a six sided ring really change anything? Are constant gimmick matches necessary? The announce team, Jim Cornette, and Jeremy Borash kill the show and at times makes me want to turn the TV off too. TNA has great talent but the writers need to be fired and TNA needs to re-evaluate which direction they want to go in. When the ratings don't go up that means TNA aren't bringing in any new viewers. No new viewers, no higher ratings or PPV buys. By now, TNA should be at least getting 1.5 ratings but the storylines speaks for themselves. Fire Russo and Mantel and hire Paul Heyman for God's sake!

sad as it is to say I have no idea what TNA can do honestly wrestling is in such a slump right now its sad not because of quality I mean as far as ratings and everything else MMA has even overtaken it. WWE and TNA seem to be the forgotten sports entertainment even when they do get cred from something say WM the next few weeks the ratings go down. Like TNA or WWE but they do try their best with what they have and before anyone laughs remember pro wrestling has been thrust into a bad light due to the latest allegations with the roids and everything involving Chris Benoit which is a real shame. I can tell from some people on here maybe I'm wrong but we all want TNA to succeed in some way even if its not direct competition to WWE and honestly who cares if it is we all want another company around even if its an amateur company like TNA at least its something.

I agree w/ people saying get rid of Russo, I enjoy some aspects of TNA but I thought the booking was better before he came back.

They need to strip it back to basics: less gimmicked characters & matches, easy to follow storys backed up by good wrestling.

The problem with being the up and coming group is you can't make as many mistakes as the market leader, people will probably give WWE more second chances if they get turned off by something (I know I have a few times over the years)

Everybody has a solution as to why TNA's ratings never go up, but I don't think anybody really has a clue.

"The Terror Dome match is scheduled to feature many undercard wrestlers as a way to get more talent onto the PPV"

Really? TNA Blatantly trying to get as many as possible onto a card? Perish the though. It's only what they do every single frigging pay per view.

Seems a sign everyone is too focused on picking up their pay check and not focused enough on having good matches.

How to get the ratings up hmmmm

1. Fire Russo
2. Fire Worthless WWE/WCW/ECW Rejects
3. Fire Russo
4. Less stupid backstage segments
5. Less WORTHLESS gimmick matches
6. Fire Russo!

They need to be on a more mainstream channel. Or SpikeTV needs to get on basic packages and off premier packages.

Three things to increase ratings.

1. The fans that currently don't watch TNA but do watch WWE need a reason to watch TNA. What they see/hear about TNA is that they have some old retread wrestlers, a 6 sided ring and weird gimmick matches. They need to create a product similar to WWE with minor differences. Keep the 6 sided ring, continue to use the former WWE talent - but lay off the gimmicks. Give us stories that make sense and aren't rushed. See Awesome Kong/Gail Kim build up.

2. Improve the announcers. Focus on the match - they need to be enhancing the talent, not spending time focusing on 4 other things during the match.

3. Lay off the formula for the match layouts. Here is how TNA books a match over a 15 minute period. Intros, discussion of other topics and 3 minutes of wrestling (total 7 minutes). 4 minutes of commercial. Return for final 4 minutes of the match. Here's how the match layout should happen. Intro and discussions for 3 minutes. 4 minutes for commercials and have a solid continuous 8 minute match.

IMO

So much for TNA beating ECW in the ratings this week...

They need Scott D'Amore back as booker.

Posted By: Chris (Guest)  on May 03, 2008 at 11:50 AM

1. Marketing
2. More wrestling
3. MORE X-DIVISION

TNA has quarter hour breakdowns in their ratings, don't they? Look at what does better and give more of that. Seems relatively simple to me.

Posted By: DG (Guest)  on May 03, 2008 at 01:06 PM

Russo should not be running a lemonade stand by himself. With VKM basically holding the lease, noone could TOUCH Russo. Once WCW and now TNA gave him the ball....he fizzled. Someone needs to get control of that man but until then Ill have the fun in watching him ruin yet another good promotion.

Posted By: CM Wolf (Guest)  on May 03, 2008 at 01:59 PM

Simply put, do what WCW and WWE did to pop their biggest ratings: a stable of anti authority figures who run wild. Don't believe me, remember what made LAX so popular?

And oh, give the fans what they want, and that's more MCMG! They've served their punishment ok? Enough is enough! These are the types of young guns that TNA can market to reach out to today's younger crowd.

Also, once again, they need to give their secondary stars (Storm, Roode, Styles) a program (and also a secondary title) so they can battle and show the world what they can do as champions. If you don't believe me who remembers the classic Booker T- Benoit best of 7 in WCW, for the TV title no less?

Finally, you have to give Samoa Joe a true stable for him to fight against. The Angle Alliance was a bunch of goofballs that if done properly could've been the setup for something great!
