More Various News: Austin Interview, TNA World X Cup, Owen Hart, More
Posted by Ashish on 05.07.2008
More Wednesday news!
- TNA announced today that wrestlers from Dragon Gate, New Japan and CMLL would take part in the World X Cup.
- Owen Hart would have turned 43 today.
- WWE will have a big presence at the GI Film Festival in Washington, D.C. next weekend. The company will be presented with the "Corporate Patriot Award" for their work on behalf of the American Armed Forces. They will also present an event called "WWE Action Fest" at Bolling Air Force Base which will include a screening of "The Marine" and an autograph session with Ken Kennedy.
- Hip-hop artist Kid Sister has named her first album "Koko B. Ware" after the WWE wrestler. The album is due out this summer.
- The Times of India has an interview up with Steve Austin. In it, Austin talks about his career, acting, and more. When asked about his most challenging opponents, Austin said the following.
"I wouldn't say challenging, but there were a few favourites like Ricky the Dragon Steamboat and The Rock. Bret Hart and I shared great chemistry in the ring too."
And Austin also put over the Great Khali, since the interview was with an Indian publication.
"The Great Khali and I are good buddies. Khali's a very nice guy, we get along very well. While we were shooting for The Longest Yard, we used to work out together. I'll never forget the time when Khali walked into the women's loo in the gym by mistake! The girls were hysterical and Khali was so embarrassed!"
Not sure which is funnier: Austin and Khali are buddies, or Khali walking into
a ladies' restroom. Clearly Dusty Rhodes should have provided commentary for
the latter. Clearly.

- nope. Elizabeth's? Von Erich's (pick one) Rick Rude? Eathquake?Mr. Perfect? My
fingers are tired just thinking about this.

The X Cup, I really hate fake international tournments like this, that use a
point system, instead of a King of The Ring Elimination. I hated the weekly
ppv xcup it went on for like 3 weeks.

As expected TNA will be taking full advantage of the working relationship
between New Japan and Dragon Gate as well as opting not to negotiate anything
with AAA (damnit Konan). I just wish they'd look to some US indy guys to fill
up Team USA/TNA. We'll see how that goes

God bless Owen and his family

So the Armed Forces are giving the WWE an award, and then the WWE's gonna
torture them by having them sit through The Marine?

WWE would have killed Owen eventually. He'd probably be out the door by now for
sure.

World X Cup sounds like it could be good this year...give a swift kick in the
ass to the floundering X-Division. Hopefully they don't screw this one up.

After reading this, I made sure to lock the door when I went to use the loo.

I would laugh hard if 3/4 of Team Mexico was represented by Grey Shadow, Marco
Corleone and Alex Koslov.

Steve Austin lived in England for quite a while and his first wife was British
so I'd imagine he would sneak in some Brit slang occasionally.

Oh wow TNA having New Japan. I will still skip through this with my dvr. Has
anyone noticed that when WWE Superstars go to TNA, their acting gets even
worse? Angle, Cage, Team 3-D?

THE GREAT KHALI would throw Austin since he "act" like nicely to Great
Khali. If he do, he would be in WWE but he obviously doesn't want and prefere
follow The Rock's successfully movie. It just like a "foot-step" just
like example X-pac & Justin C hate Austin because Austin trying follow
"X-Facter" (Xpac-Justin C" but The Rock accept. I don't think
any Hollywood want Austin since he successfully in WWE, they don't care but his
behavior and personal is life threat to them after he take steroid and hurt his
ex-wife. It what Debra say all in Court. Austin cry like baby and told vince he
won't be in wwe if vince not make him become a movie star. Austin have no
RESPECT for Debra, Debra did take really good care to Austin but after that
Austin throw Debra out because of his steroid and drunk. I like Austin but 1
problem is "steroid", it make everyone mess up and behavior like
misunderstand.

Angle.. Correct
Team 3-D.. Correct
Christian Cage.. WRONG
Christian Cage has been used the best out of all the people who jumped. He's
usually always high on the card, has the best win loss record in TNA since
going over there (even better than Joe), and has been a great heel, tweener,
and face. Cage is the best promo guy they've had by far since he got there.
