Bobby Lashley Speaks On Fighting Brock Lesnar, WWE's Wellness Policy, More
Posted by Ashish on 05.08.2008

SHOW: Barbaric Wrestling Radio
SITE: BWRonline.net
HOST: Brett Buchanan
GUEST: Bobby Lashley

BWR co-hosts Sanford Gomph and The Sanman were unavailable for this interview due to the last minute nature of this interview so Brett Buchanan flew solo. Brett first mentions how this is Bobby Lashley's first interview since leaving the WWE, and that it is on BWR on BWRonline.net. Brett first asks Bobby to clarify why he left the WWE. He said he asked for his release for various reasons. Bobby also said he never wanted to leave up until the moment he asked for his release, he just realized he had to do it when he did. He then talked about his injury last year and how it was worse than thought after surgery in August. He said he was supposed to be out for 6 months but in December he was ready to go, and right then is when things went sour. He said there are a lot of things he can't talk about regarding his release.

Brett asks if it was a creative issue, and Bobby said he wasn't sure and it could've partially been creative. Brett then asks Bobby his opinion on the WWE Wellness Policy and if he's ever tried steroids. Bobby said the Wellness Policy is good for what it's worth and it does a good job making sure everyone is healthy.

Lashley then talked about how tough wrestling is and how he tips his cap to fellow wrestlers. He said it's hard to stay healthy and some people use certain things as a "crutch." He said the Wellness Policy has gotten stricter and it's working and to keep it going. Brett then asked about the media over hyping steroids and if he thinks there's a place in wrestling for steroids.

Bobby said he doesn't think there is a place for any drugs in the business and there are people who try and jump on the "steroid" media bandwagon. He also talked about how the media coverage surrounding Chris Benoit angered him and the media love to just call a bunch of wrestlers steroid users and jump to conclusions. Bobby said if the drug testing policy is working let them entertain and that the media should stop criticizing them.

Brett mentions how Chris Masters has told him that pain killers are the real problem, rather than steroids. Brett then asks about Bobby and TNA. He says he's open to anything and he's getting e-mails from people all over the place and he's been training for MMA for the last six months. He says he can really do some damage in MMA but pro wrestling is in his blood and that he always wants to do some type of professional wrestling. He mentions his upcoming appearance at Booker T's PWA later this month. He also said that if TNA can put together a good offer, he'll listen to it.

Brett then talked to Lashley about Brock Lesnar in MMA. He said Brock didn't waste his time with lower fights and went straight to the top, he said he'd do the same thing. He also mentioned that he'd love to fight Brock. Brett asks about comparisons between Bobby and Brock. He said he's happy to be compared to a former champion and that people usually try to compare wrestlers to other ones.

Lashley also talks about how he was fine with his quick push and that a lot of people talk about paying dues, and he paid his dues doing amateur wrestling. Brett asked if he was okay with going to ECW and losing his belt to Vince. Lashley said he requested going to ECW and was thrilled when he got there and he was fine with losing to Vince.

Bobby also talks about why his girlfriend Kristal Marshall left the WWE and if there are any truth to the rumors she left because of a proposed Edge/Kristal love storyline, his future in MMA/Pro Wrestling, Michael Hayes' racist remarks, and goes more in-depth on the media's scrutiny of steroids in wrestling. Download Bobby Lashley's first interview since leaving the WWE on www.bwronline.net right now! Old clips of ECW Original The Sandman and Jeremy Borash appearing on BWR air too, so don't miss it!

(Sarcastically) He didn't answer the question if he ever took steroids?

@Guest6126
Not to rain on your Parade but i think he answered it in general as he spoke
further stating

"Bobby said he doesn't think there is a place for any drugs in the
business "

Obivious someone thats dead set against it in the business would not be using
and consuming and abusing it himself !

STEROID vs STEROID, it funniest that Bobby Lashley goes after BROCK! Brock would
beat him up real bad, Bobby better think once before challenge him because I
have seen Brock UFC ppv, he quick, hard punch then rape while fighter yell like
girl.

Lashley would kill Brock.

Posted By: Guest#9476 (Guest)  on May 08, 2008 at 01:44 PM

If I remember correctly Brock Lesnar lost his UFC PPV fight because he didn't
know what the hell he was doing.

i can see it now brock lesnar vs black lesnar

Judging from the WWE days Bobby seemed a bit faster and more agile than Brock
did they both have power could be a good match or it could completely suck ass.

Bobby would get killed by Brock.

Brock got beaten by a more experienced BJJ fighter. Bobby would either get
outwrestled or his skull caved in by one of Brock's fists.

Justin Crediblepac.. I for one do not EVER want to see Lesnar raping Lashley
while he yells like a girl.

Posted By: MarkyMark (Guest)  on May 08, 2008 at 02:21 PM

Lets See Brocks a bit bigger. But Lashley is a former Army Ranger so he knows
tricks Brock didn't learn in amature wrestling.

I'd give the fight to Lashely.

Brock is best of wrestler of all time and do most danger guy in the world.
Everyone fear of him, just admit it. Bobby just "act" like he want to
but when brock beat him up and bobby wouldn't want fight with him again.

sorry, dude, but I don't think Lashley would have a chance against Brock...
Brock is naturally huge with very strong limbs and good conditioning and more
real experience

oh, and curious how Lashley just pussyfooted around the question if he ever
took stereoids nad DIDN'T answer it, lol

Posted By: Guest#2351 (Guest)  on May 08, 2008 at 03:14 PM

Brock was beating the piss out of Mir at that PPV, it's just Mir was more
experienced and admitted that he tried to do an armbar on Brock but his is too
big. He did however find the weak spot in Brock's ankle and Lesnar tapped
fast. It's smart really, fight to live another day. Brock just needs more
experience and he will be a top fighter.

What does anybody here know about Lashley's experience as an amateur? Have you
ever seen him train or wrestle as an amateur? Oh, I get it... you're going off
of Brocks COLLEGE wrestling resume and his two MMA fights at which he is 1-1,
one against a cup cake and the other against a more SKILLED fighter that waited
until he made a mistake and capitalized off of it. Yeah... I see why you would
say Brock doesn't have a chance...

"What does anybody here know about Lashley's experience as an amateur?
Have you
ever seen him train or wrestle as an amateur?"

That's exactly the point. I personally know shit about Lashley's experience and
have only seen him in fixed wrestling fights where he also got hurt. I've seen
Brock fight and yes, I've seen him lose by making a stupid mistake, which he
probably learnt from and wouldn't do now. I've seen him wrestling as an
amateur, I've seen him wrestle professionally for extended periods of time and
not get winded, I've seen him almost break his neck and get up afterwards and
continue.

Or do you mean that Lashley got super training by wrestling "in
college"?? Get real. And so what if he was an army ranger? Randy fucking
Orton was a US Marine. That doesn't mean shit.

Yeah, Brock was killing Mir but he let up when Mir was going for the submission.
Brock avoided it with ease but ended up holding Mir's legs for way too long and
BAM! Twist into the sub. Tap! Brock will learn from that.

Posted By: JIM! (Guest)  on May 08, 2008 at 05:32 PM

Brock lacked experience, not skill. He lost because he doesn't know too much
about submissions. He's a decent fighter, one of the top wrestlers in the UFC,
and is no doubt the strongest (Yeah, i think he's stronger than Rampage). He'll
be good once he learns the game. he should of started with a lower opponent.

I've never seen Lashley fight, but i'm willing to bet he lacks the physical
dominance that Lesnar has. Lesnar is a beast. But, i could be wrong. All i'm
saying is that all the skill and strength in the world won't help u if u don't
have the aggression. those of u who will disagree obviously haven't wrestled or
fought.

WTF - ever heard of Rush (send every drug abuser to jail while I make myself
deaf from my Oxy addiction) Limbaugh?

Lashley would beat Brock, not convincingly but it would be entertaining.

Thankgod we didnt have to listen to this interview...

Posted By: Brad (Guest)  on May 08, 2008 at 07:20 PM

Lesnar vs Lashley would be an intresting fight but I do think Brock would be
able to out class him, he was wrecking Mir but made a rookie mistake against a
former UFC champ and world class BJJ fighter, nobody really knows what Lashley
brings to the table other than his wrestling, can he trade standup?
Hows his chin? Exactly which elements of MMA has he been training since he left
WWE?
I'd pay to see 'em go at it.

Posted By: Guest#7138 (Guest)  on May 08, 2008 at 09:53 PM

college"?? Get real. And so what if he was an army ranger? Randy fucking

Seriously? There is a huge difference between being a Marine and an Army
Ranger. The Rangers are the equivalent to how the Navy has The Seals.

Part of his early released bargain was that he could not talk about WWE.

Posted By: Redvexx (Guest)  on May 09, 2008 at 01:21 PM

Some of you people are seriously retarded!!!!!!Ofcourse Lashley used steroids
are yo blind??Its impossible for your muscle cells to get that large without a
shit load of testosterone!!!secondly all you know all idiots trying say you
know who would win brock vs lashly u really are stupid!!! who knows who would
