WWE House Show Results 5.11.08: East Lansing, Michigan

Thanks to 411 reader Justin Walden for sending the following report in!

WWE Raw Wrestlemania Revenge house show results from the Breslin Center on MSU campus in East Lansing, Michigan. 5/11/08

Breslin Center was about half full, which really surprised me, but it was hot crowd all throughout the show. Very vocal. They had set up the Center to hold, probably around 8,000-9,000, I’d guess, but it wasn’t even half full.

-Show starts with Tony Chimel answering a special ECW championship match where we can text our vote for the match stipulation: 2 out 3 falls, falls count anywhere, or no DQ. Ashley was our special “host” for the evening and a lucky family got to leave the nosebleeds by answering, “Where was WrestleMania held last year?” The answer is Detroit. But the family said Orlando, to which Ashley said they were right, so they got scurried down to the front row. Not sure if it was Ashley who screwed up the question or if she didn’t want to tell the family they were wrong.

-Santino Marella vs. Super Crazy
Okay match, Santino cut a promo about the movie 300 being based on the MSU Spartans but said the truth about 300 was that the Spartans got “beat up” by the Romans. Crowd was really into the whole match booing everything Santino did and getting behind Crazy. Crazy won with a sunset flip.

-Snitsky then appeared and attacked Super Crazy as he was walking to the back. Regal appeared and gave his usual spiel about being King and said Super Crazy was tonight’s first victim. Snitsky then went to the ring.

-Snitsky vs. Cody Rhodes
Cody tried to help Super Crazy up but Regal told him he had a match to worry about and to forget about Crazy. Funny spot where Snitsky yelled “there’s nothing wrong with my teeth!” Cody won with the DDT.

-“The Natural” Nick Nemeth vs. Hardcore Holly
Plenty of screams of “who are you” when Nick came out. He gave a promo about how greatness just comes natural to him. Holly wins with the Alabama Slam.

-Cryme Tyme vs. Cade & Murdoch
C&M went for the Hi-Lo, but JTG pulled Cade out of the ring and Shad gave Trevor a big boot and pinned him. Murdoch sang “Friends in Low Places”, but Cade cut him off yelled “what are you so happy about” and walked away. Heat for Cade, some sympathy cheers for Murdoch.

-Ashley came out and picked a young girl to be the special manager of Mickie James in the next match

-Intermission

-Women’s title: Mickie James w/ Little Girl vs. Beth Phoenix
Good match, Mickie won with the top rope Thesz press.

-ECW title: Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero w/ Bam Neely
The heat was off the charts for this match, in which the No DQ stip supposedly “won” with 73% of the votes. Chavo & Bam were really getting into it with a few fans at ringside, with two of them going nose to nose with Chavo. For a No DQ match, it was fairly bland. Bam only interfered behind the ref’s back and Chavo hit Kane in the leg & rips a couple of times with a chair. Kane did get one good smack on Chavo’s back with the chair though. Kane won with the chokeslam, after taking out Bam, to a HUGE pop.

-Tony thanked us all for coming out and wished us all a Happy Mother’s Day… Then the lights went out and green spotlights started to shine all around the arena…

-Our main event… DX vs. JBL & Umaga
Best match of the night, of course. HBK came out still selling the knee injury. Lots of stalling at first and then a funny bit from Umaga who yelled at JBL from the apron motioning for JBL to work the knee. JBL’s look at Umaga was priceless. Superkick for JBL, superkick into a pedigree for Umaga. DX wins. Then they spent quite few minutes walking around ringside shaking hands with the fans.

Overall, a fun show. Nothing groundbreaking in terms of match quality, but it was a fun Sunday evening show where all the faces went over and the crowd was hot for just about everything. It’s just too bad it wasn’t even close to a sell out because I doubt that’s very encouraging for WWE to return to the area.

Advertised but failed to appear: Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. No explanation was given, but Orton not showing up isn’t surprising given his recent request for time off.
