RIP to "The Rock", the most electrifying man in the history of sports entertainment.

'Finally the Rock has killed off his......wrestling career'

Posted By: Disappointed (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 02:24 PM

That issue's current, not new. I was flipping through it at B&N a few weeks ago.

I'm no longer The Rock.

The Rock is dead.

My name is now -

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT MY NAME IS

"The Rock is dead". Ok.....fine. Then stop reporting on him in a wrestling column, and proceed to move him to the movies section. Now i can officially make fun of his crappy movies without feeling like i'm betraying on of my favorite wrestlers of all time. I try and stay supportive, but i liked him better as a wrestler.

The Rock... the most over rated superstar in history

"The Rock... the most over rated superstar in history"

flamebait, please disregard.

it's easy to say he's overrated.

speaking of overrated, Tommy Dreamer needs to retire.

Posted By: unregistered user (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 02:49 PM

I'm still waiting for a solid arguement no how Rock was "overrated". Was it because he bettered himself and broke out of wrestling to become a viable box-office draw? Is it because you didn't get a retirement match against HBK or speech on Raw? Fucking get over yourselves. The dude was one of the most solid brawlers ever, was crisp in the ring, could do a match with ANY type of worker (technical, brawl, big man, midgets, etc.), and, of course, his mic skills are purely unmatched...hell, his promo style is a formula ripped weekly by Cena.

Point is, hate if you want, but at least state WHY. Just saying "he sucks, he's overrated, NO BUYS" doesn't work. Just gets you flamed. Homos.

"The Rock..err..Dwayne Johnson likes Holywood Pie. So you can take your world title shine that sum bitch up turn it sideways and stick it straight up your ROODY POO CANDY ASS. The Rock...err Dwayne Johnson was driven down Jabroni Drive..wait that was Hollywood Blvd......."

Damn I miss that stuff.

KEEEENNNEEDDDY and MVP give me hope

"The Rock... the most over rated superstar in history"

Agreed. He hasn't entertained me since '99.

Still, can we PLEASE get this guy shifted to movies now??

lol how thell was The Rock over rated? Have you seen the Rock in his prime?

RIP to the Rock. a superstar who knew there is life beyond the wrestling world.

RIP to the Rock, someone who accomplished something no other wrestler EVER did, including austin and hogan. he is actually taken seriously in hollywood and other wrestlers and jilted fans resent.

Without wrestling fans going to see his movies he wouldn't have anything to reinvent himself into......

What is MySpage?

Finally The Rock has NOT come back to his wrestling fans.

Dude's a good actor but I don't think he even watches wrestling any more.

Dwayne, until you come back to WWE for a segment at least 10 minutes long that doesnt involve giving your parents an award, or you do an interview for a wrestling magazine, or you even are reported in FCW talking to younger talent, your dead to me!

Posted By: Davy (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 04:59 PM

Then quit acknowledging yourself as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, doing over the top HOF induction speaches, putting out this new DVD, talking at all about wrestling in any interviews, etc.

You suck now and you are just another actor putting out lame movies. How's that Spy Hunter movie coming along? Oh that's right...

Yes, I agree with the above poster that said this site needs to stop reporting every move he makes.

Same with the Hogan's, Lance Storm, etc.

well i think John Cena is right about the Rock!! I mean it was 2004 when Rock told Austin that he took his ball and went home, like a bitch,in his own words....I mean he also said wwe, is in his blood he would never leave, lol now he won't even show up for the people that made him famous, flame what i say all you want, just youtube the Rock you will find it.

"How's that Spy Hunter movie coming along? Oh that's right..." How's The Game Plan coming along, Rock? Oh, one of the top grossing films of 2007? Well shit. Or how about Gridiron Gang? Damn, it was critically acclaimed and did well in theaters? Damn. Look, just because you resent Rock for moving on to something else ,and thus fail to realize that he's done with wrestling and you're till clinging to the past and YOU haven't moved on yet, doesn't mean you can belittle his accomplishments.

Posted By: JJ (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 07:22 PM

Ramsey - THANK YOU! I couldn't agree more!

Just because the guy managed to move on to another more profitable and health safe career, people turn on him and hate on him? Just a bunch of jealous homos, you people wish you could have a millionth of what Dwayne Johnson has! You're all just upset because you wish he was still wrestling, but who wouldn't take a career in Hollywood given the chance?!

Posted By: AdamRock (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 07:37 PM

Someone needs to "Regulate" natedoggcata. How can you say the Rock is the most overated superstar ever? You have heard of John Cena and Sanjaya? The Rock(along with Austin) was the Shit that kept the WWE afloat in the Attitude era. I guess you just started watching around 2004.

Dude, you could easily plug in Damon Wayons, Chris Tucker, Adam Sandler, Dayne Cook or any cheap B list comedy actor into any of those movies & get the same result.

Minus the his clinging wrestling fan base from the box office & dvd sales and those movies wouldn't have done as well.

Posted By: Byzdalmyt (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 08:19 PM

Never mind the fact that Rock got huge reactions when promoting those movies on Talk shows.

Posted By: JJ (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 08:43 PM

wow, the rock is overrated in what way, it was said that stone cold and THE ROCK saved the wwe in the monday night wars and that was true, they were not the only reason but the greatest reason why we still have a wwe to watch. Maybe u don't remember but this guy could actually wrestle alongside of controlling the crowd on the mic like no one else in the history of the business. He wasn't the greatest heel of all time, but he is definitely in the top ten. I mean, people would cheer for this guy even when he was a heel but he would find a way to make them angry all over again. To prove my point why he is one of the greats, go watch the hof induction and listen to the ovation he gets. He's moved on to the movie business and there's nothing wrong with that

"The Rock is dead"...four words that have Triple H resting comfortably on the fact that the wrestling universe is subject to being "entertained" by his overrated ass for years to come!

Posted By: thechriseco (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 10:14 PM

There's no point in putting The...er Dwayne Johnson in the movies/tv section. People post wrestling comments there all day long.

Posted By: NastyRud (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 11:07 PM

Still a fan of the Brahma Bull. He just hasn't made any movies that interest me. Although I can't wait to go see Get Smart. Carrell, The Rock, & Anne Hathaway. I'm there.

Posted By: Peter (Guest)  on May 14, 2008 at 11:32 PM

All these people saying "ZOMG! Why you posting about Dwayne Johnson on wrestling!? It should be moved to Movies!!!"

I guess people forget he was a wrestler.

Now I wasn't a big fan of The Rock, but he did get popular with wrestling. Since he's no longer wrestling doesn't mean he shouldn't be condemned as a wrestler.

He turned his back on wrestling. Perhaps it's due to getting bored, didn't like the fans, didn't like the tour schedule, whatever.

To not include The Rock in wrestling, then maybe you shouldn't mention others like Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, etc.

I hope there's no more people saying "take him out" but I doubt it. That's my two cents.

I'm amazed at how he managed to coast on the same catchphrases for so long and STILL have a following. There is only so many times you can hear "It doesn't matter.." "Finally.." "If you smell.." etc. Yeah guys have their catchphrases, but most incorporate them into a promo as opposed to rely on them for the promo.

Also, how the hell did he go from being this cool guy with the awesome shirts and stuff to some guy that acted like he'd just drank 2 litres of coke?

Agreed with the other guy, he's not been entertaining since 1999.

If you read the article, you would find out Dwayne Johnson never said this himself. The article was about re-inventing himself, which he has done. The headline was the magazine's doing because they wanted to create buzz.

Posted By: SRX (Guest)  on May 15, 2008 at 04:49 AM

It's nothing but jealousy when people tear him down because of what he's accomplished from wrestling to movies. The fans are bitter (not to mention selfish and cruel) because they'd prefer to see him blowing his knees and shoulders out night after night keeping his surgion on speed dial for a 10 minute thrill in a ring over a big, fake gold belt, than to make millions of dollars doing what HE finds expressive, fun, and enjoys more. Not to mention something that wont get him killed or crippled after ten years. Those other wrestlers who will become washed up drug addicts at age 40 are just JEALOUS and it's pathetic. Everytime one of them opens their mouths about Dwayne they completely embarrass themselves even more.
