FIP House Show Results 5.30.08: Crystal River, FL.
Posted by Larry Csonka on 05.31.2008

Thanks to 411 reader Brian M. for sending these results along!

Friday night FIP (Full Impact Pro) put on another show in Crystal River and as much as I hate to say it but this is the first time I have ever walked away from an FIP event feeling slightly disappointed. It wasn't a bad show, I don't want anybody to get that idea, but it just didn't live up to the expectations I have come to have for FIP. Also I was probably spoiled on two amazing Stevens/Strong matches the last two times I went. Anyway here's a report on the 5/30 FIP show as best as I can do it.

The Crystal River Armory was pretty full, a good 350-400 people packed the place although a good amount were kids who had no idea what ROH is.

Match #1: Dingo vs. Chris Jones- This is my first time seeing either one and for new, green wrestlers they show a bunch of potential. Fast action although plenty of screw-ups and I just really didn't get into it at all which was a shame. I do see both men with more training and experience doing much better in the future. It was a so-so opener, it was fast yeah but it was kind of just there, nothing stands out. Chris Jones won after a screwed up back flip off the top.

Heartbreak Enterprises comes out with Sean Davis talking about and hyping up Damien Wayne, which leads to our next match.

Match #2: Kyle O'Reilly vs. Damien Wayne- Tons of stalling and mediocre wrestling just killed this match for me. Of course Heartbreak Enterprises interfered multiple times and in the end Damien won after interference.

Match #3: Daizee Haze vs. Rain- An OK women's match that had some nice back and forth action. Both women came out of the match looking good but Daizee picked up the win.

Davey Richards comes out to basically trash the fans and tell us Erick is beneath him but he is wrestling him for his friend Roderick Strong. Erick comes out, calls them boyfriends and the match begins.

Match #4: Erick Stevens vs. Davey Richards- Great match with some fun action although I have seen both men do better. The match was still solid with awesome moves thrown all over the place. Stevens ended up winning after some hard fought pin attempts.

Match #5: Black Market vs. Dark City Fight Club (Anything Goes): This match was all over the place and very little time was spent in the ring. Typical hardcore match, lots of chairs, hitting with garbage cans and even a nice power bomb through a table. The end came when a bloody Joey was pinned in the ring by one of the DCFC men.

Scotty 2 Hotty comes out and the YRR follow calling him a has been and him coming back with calling them neverwas's. They jump him but Delirious comes out for the save, a tag match is made for later that night Scotty/Delirious vs. Sal Rinauro/Chasyn Rance.

Intermission which led to me talking to Larry Zybysko for a second and later on much longer during a smoke break. Very cool guy, we talked about the AWA a bit as I mentioned to him my DVR is set to record the old AWA episodes on ESPN Classics.

Match #6: Jason Blade & Kenny King vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black with Rain (FIP Tag Team Championship)- Tremendous tag match that was fast and hard hitting, all four men work so well together. After MANY near falls Sal Rinauro interferes behind the refs back which gets Jimmy Jacobs pinned.

Match #7: Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries vs. Jerry Lynn (FIP World Title Match, Elimination Rules)- I had high hopes for this match and I guess my hopes were a bit too high as the match didn't live up to my expectations. Strong tried staying outside and sneaking back in for cheap shots but Aries and Lynn caught him on it. Some really great action and then almost out of nowhere and way too soon Lynn piledrives Aries and pins him. Down to Lynn and Strong and they trade moves for a while, go up top many times. Jerry really was looking great and while he isn't what he was back in his ECW days with RVD he really held his own with Strong. In the end though Strong came out victorious with the Gibson Driver and he proceeded to gloat about how he has beaten everybody which brought out Stevens. Strong ran off and Stevens challenged him to a Dog Collar Match the next time they come to Crystal River in mid July. I'll definitely be going with that match on the card, should be nice and brutal.

Match #8: Scotty 2 Hotty & Delirious vs. Sal Rinauro & Chasyn Rance- this was basically a comedy match that kind of went on a bit too long but the crowd was into it (who was left) so what do I know. Delirious was his funny and spastic self and Scotty was what you remember from the WWF. They tried to make a real match out of it for a bit but it just didn't work, in the end Scotty did the WORM on Rance and won the match. Afterwards Scotty brought his 4 year old daughter out which was sweet, she taught Delirious how to do the WORM. Delirious tried it and ended up wriggling around on the ground which was pretty funny.

Well, while this was definitely not the best FIP show I've been to it wasn't the worst show I've been to either. Stevens/Richards was solid, the Tag Championship match was great and the three way while not living up to what I wanted was still fine and it was nice to see Lynn can still put on a good show and keep up with the young guys. Small note when they made the Dog Collar Match the FIP Title was never mentioned which I found strange. I wonder if it's going to be a non-title match, a title match or is Roderick not going to have the title come July? I guess we'll see.

Apparently you do not followed ROH as Dingo is not a new, green wrestler. He wrestles in the Midwest and he has even done some ROH pre-show matches in Chicago Ridge

Dingo actually has an ROH win @ Unscripted III and as people have mentioned he works in the midwest a lot. He's a regular in IWA-MS.
