WWE News: Backlash Numbers, Undertaker, Orton’s Injury and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.16.2008
Lots of WWE news to kick off the day!
- So far April's Backlash PPV has done 214,000 buys worldwide, with 135,000 domestic. The 2007 edition of the show did 210,000 buys worldwide, with 139,000 domestic as final numbers.
- The Undertaker had been working through a lot of nagging injuries, especially his hip which has been giving him problems for some time. The "banishment" angle was created to give him some time to heal, as well as freshen up the Undertaker vs. Edge Title program. He is expected back for Summerslam.
- Randy Orton's broken collarbone is actually worse than originally thought and he will not be due back until October.
- The Steve Austin DVD has shipped 177,000 units, while the new HHH DVD has shipped 202,000 units.
- Ed Kaufman, who is the head of WWE legal as a Senior Vice President will be leaving the company soon. He was a dedicated employee and was constantly on call. It was his decision to leave the company.

Triple H probably snuck into the doctors office and changed the report to say he would be fully healed in October... right around the time his second child is born. NO ONE goes over HHH!

Wow im surprised that the HHH dvd has sold more copies than Austin but then i guess the 90's was a while ago now and HHH is still around.

October... shit, may as well hold him off for the Rumble then.
Damn it thats bad news, get well soon Orton.

Preparation H's dvd is selling more than Austin's cuz people flock to anything that sucks. So when does The Mountie's dvd come out???
Posted By: Darren (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 12:35 AM
The Mountie RULED. I would watch The Mountie over Triple H any day of the week.

The undertaker is working through the smackdown/ecw tour of Australia at the moment, maybe after that he will take some time off.

"as well as freshen up the Undertaker vs. Edge Title program""
They could do that by going back 10 years to when UT could still have a half-decent match or making it Edge vs. ANYONE but Batista or UT

They can freshen up the Edge-taker feud by having the Taker lock Edge in a casket, set the casket on fire and then fire Edge's no talent ass. This will get the Most boring superstar ever off my TV and allow the Taker to elevate the next generation of stars.

You mean having seen all of them doesn't prevent you from being a dumbass who is unable to understand that the man is saying if Orton wont be back until October, they might as well save his return for the Royal Rumble? Then again, what do I know.. ENGLISH IS MY NATIVE LANGUAGE!

Oh thank god. I can finally watch wrestling again without having to sit through Orton's half assed promos, terrible persona, and utter lack of talent in the ring (he's gotten better but still misses moves on a fairly regular basis). All of that aside, I do hope his recovery goes well, but I am happy not to have to see him on tv for awhile

Takers had loads of good matches in the last 10 years you muppet.
Posted By: Fenris (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 03:43 AM
You all missed the point here, Mr. Ed Kaufman is leaving the WWE Legal Dept. He was THE HEAD The VP! Oh No Now Whats Going To Happen LEGALLY? Does this mean Crime Time IS RUNNING WILD Like the SO OLD Hulkimania used to run mild OOOPPS I MEAN WILD?
Posted By: VKM (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 04:18 AM
People buy HHH? You mean these idiots that post here AREN'T representative of the general fanbase?
Colour me shocked.
Posted By: Dr Domino (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 05:29 AM
Alot of younger fans do buy merchandise to do with whomever is on top at the time and also a big factor would be that a 3 disc Austin Set might cost more than a 2 disc Triple H set therefore more likely to be bought especially if your busying a present for someone who likes wrestling which would you pick?

OK that just means that thats how many were shipped to retailers not how many have been bought by customers. I think trips made them ship a few extra just so numbers wise he loks better than Stonecold
Posted By: Guest#7765 (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 07:17 AM
I agree with Guest#7765 above, the amount shipped does not necessarily mean that was the amount sold. I bet retailers, knowing that HHH was still in the WWE scene may have ordered more copies of his DVD believing that being on TV = buys. Too bad they don't follow ratings or PPV buyrates.

Just a point on the HHH DVD...
Over here in the UK you can pick up his DVD DIRT CHEAP in comparison to all the other WWE wrestlers. For example, Stone Cold's DVD is usually around the £30 mark, where as HHH's is more around the £15-17 mark. As soon as I saw the difference in prices it became blatently clear what was going on.

"They could do that by going back 10 years to when UT could still have
a half-decent match"
...Austin and that's about it. Yesh. Seriously, people forget how god-awful Taker has been for most of his run. The last five years have easily been his best in terms of in-ring work.

Some of you hhh haters seem to have penis envy. The guy marries stephanie and it's some kind of work on his part. What did he use the Papa Shango mist to entice her. The guy imho is a good wrestler and great on the stick. Sounds like vince makes money...and THAT is the bottom line cause vince said do
Posted By: Guest#0518 (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 09:56 AM
Hey Randy...SORRY about your damn luck!

Andy Kaufman > Charlie Kaufman > Ed Kaufman
Posted By: Stanley (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 11:10 AM
Goto Best Buy and Circuit City, you'll see 10 copies of HHH dvd and maybe 1 or 2 Austin dvd copies left. thats all
Posted By: NickNitro (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 11:18 AM
I wouldn't 100% believe the October date for Orton, If you guys remember the Cena injury thing and how they want to say wrestlers will be gone for longer amounts of time so they can suprise the smarks when they come back earlier.
Posted By: Wicked (Guest) on June 16, 2008 at 11:32 AM
DAMN ! some of you need a new hobby or a girlfriend.either your a fan of pro wrestling or your not. stop hating on hhh, cena and anyone else you haters decide doesn't deserve their spot. You act like a buch of kids who were the last to know that pro wrestling is sports entertainment. enjoy it for what it is and shut up!
