ROH News: July 9th Newswire
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.09.2008

July 9th: ROH's great debut in Virginia for "Southern Navigation" in May saw the team of Naomichi Marufuji, Go Shiozaki & Takeshi Morishima come out victorious. Super agent Larry Sweeney, who has recently signed Go Shiozaki as a client, told ROH officials that this has earned the NOAH contingent a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Titles. The Pro Wrestling NOAH office agreed. ROH officials see the opportunity to promote a great match and also agree. ROH's return to Manassas, VA on 8/1 will see ROH World Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black put the belts on the line against Naomichi Marufuji & Go Shiozaki. This is going to be an incredible night of tag team wrestling with this title bout and the dream match of Austin Aries & Bryan Danielson vs. Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin. Is it possible that Shiozaki & Marufuji win the ROH World Tag Team Titles leading to a return match in Japan at ROH's shows in Tokyo in September?

July 9th: Naomichi Marufuji's tour of ROH is now complete. A first time ever match has been signed for 7/25 in Toronto. It will be Marufuji vs. FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong in a non-title match. This gives Marufuji the following schedule for his four show tour:
-7/25 in Detroit with Roderick Strong vs. Go Shiozaki & Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney
-7/26 in Toronto vs. Strong
-8/1 in Manassas with Go Shiozaki vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black for the ROH World Tag Team Titles
-8/2 in Manhattan vs. Shiozaki

ROH has gotten a lot better in the last 2 years. They used to have a bunch of undercard guys that all looked like 70's jobbers from a WWWF Tv show (Like Adam Pierce) really,, some were just awful. I figured maybe they were students and set up the ring etc. so they used them on the shows and screwed them on the pay. But now they've tightened up the crew and most guys (except ADAM 70's jobber Pierce) are really pretty solid. I've learned to accept that this is a "Little Guy" Promotion from a size standpoint. Austin Aries is 5'7" Davey Richards is 5'4"....Thats small. Killer Kowalski and Verne Gagne would have sent those guys packing if they came looking for training in the 70's. Anyway ROH is a good product. They need to get the guys to quit wearing T shirts as thats bush league and I know if Vince looks at talent,,t shirts are always a killer. So much for Chris Hero...He might want to try getting in shape for a kid who works his behind off but looks like crap. Funny thing ...Joe looked better in his ROH days than now in TNA. His conditioning is in question for sure while Punk (the Other Champ) looks like he's taking things seriously and wants to get ahead and is balancing his training and diet. Joe is having too much Stickey Rice! I love Joe, I hope he watches his conditioning before it catches up on him, he's always picking at his trunks during his bouts and that is a sign that he is insecure about his look and weight.
