More WWE News: Regal's Return, Ron Killings' Debut, New Character, ECW Move, More
Posted by Ashish on 07.09.2008
Lots more Wednesday WWE news...
- William Regal's Wellness Policy suspension is scheduled to end the weekend of 7/20, meaning he could return as soon as the Great American Bash PPV.
- WWE developmental talent Rycklon Stephens worked as Brian Kendrick's bodyguard during a dark match at the Smackdown taping last night. WWE is testing the idea of Stephens as a bodyguard.
- Ron Killings is expected to debut on the Smackdown brand soon.
- WWE seems to be once again pushing back the plan to have ECW run with the RAW brand. The September 12th and 13th RAW shows in Arkansas are no longer listed as RAW/ECW shows.
- The 9/5 RAW show in Rochester, NY has been changed to a tri-branded show.
Ron Killings & Shelton Benjamin as Harlem Heat 2k9? I've heard worse ideas... form them into a team, have them run for a while, then a cross-brand feud with Cryme Type for Wrestlemania and split up afterwards to go back to singles careers.

REGAL = GOLD!!!!!!
Welcome back your highness.
Posted By: FUZEY (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Why? Because all blacks must team and feud with each other?

Maybe the school of thought is that Smackdown and ECW both need each other to stay afloat and perhaps even gain viewership, since Punk and Kofi both jumped to Raw and ECW is in the middle of rebuilding the brand with young guys, and Smackdown is going to start on a new network.
I'm inclined to agree with this. Smackdown and ECW work better together than Raw and ECW would. after fifteen years (and armed with high network support and rising ratings), Raw is quite capable of holding it's own as a brand.

Why does Kendrick need a bodyguard? Come on, we just did this crap with Chavo & Bam Neely!!!!!

Regal will be the man responsible for the stage falling on McMahon. I'm almost certain.
Posted By: Youmanga (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 04:35 PM
they need bodyguards so newer less experienced talent can get the benefit of being seen with and working closely with a talented worker that could do wonders for the new talents in ring work. i could think of allot worse guys to learn a thing or two from then kendrick and chavo. plus, i think they would both make great weasily heals hiding behind a bodyguard. i hope kendrick gets a chance to distance himself from "spanky" and wolfman london, i think him and the right big guy could capture some of that shawn/diesel vibe.

Regal returns as a drug dealer. Maybe a junkie? OH, you mean what character will he be? Probably the man's man one again. "Such a Maaaaaaaan"

"Regal will be the man responsible for the stage falling on McMahon. I'm almost certain."
Um, I think it's Kane.

If it means Kendrick gets a push,I am all for it.He is going nowhere as a solo face,so lets see what he can do as an undersized heel who uses his bodygaurd to make up the size and power difference he experiences against 90% of the WWE roster.

I like that Harlem Heat 2K9 idea.
It looks like Ron Killings will debut next week since they're in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.

So Kendrick is a heel now and London is teaming with D'lo. Thank you WWE for moving the best tag team in years to RAW, give them a BS title run, use them as jobbers, then split them apart. At least have London & Super Crazy be a normal team since the other face teams you have are 2 Hillbillys (one retarded) and Finaly with his midget. Ron Killings & Shelton Benjamin would make a good team though.

You know Regal is about the only wrestler I still enjoy to watch. I have not watched wrestling in some time because the error I enjoyed ended a long time ago. But Regal is still worth watching. I was pumped during his push and started tuning in again. But I've not watched since. I hope they start where his push left off.

I'm calling it right here and right now: The WWE is biding their time until the ECW contract runs out at the end of the year. Afterwards, they'll distribute the ECW "talent" amongst RAW and SD.
The Batman has spoken.

"Why does Kendrick need a bodyguard? Come on, we just did this crap with Chavo & Bam Neely!!!!!"
Did you NOT read the part saying WWE WAS TESTING HIM AS A BODYGUARD CHARACTER. Since it was a dark match anyhow...what does it matter WHO he's walking with?
Posted By: CM Wolf (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 05:42 PM
Hey Peers - great idea. And it works so well, BECAUSE THEY'RE BLACK!! I soooo get it!
Posted By: Ronald Reagan (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 06:58 PM
Spankey needed a bodyguard 4 years..he could have used one against Brock Lesnar! Hope the London/Kendrick split gets justified by one of them getting over for the 1st. time since last year.
Posted By: D (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 07:02 PM
I think only GM's should have bodyguards. Wrestlers should just have stables or have a tag team partner watch their back.
ECW and SD should remain together for the following reasons.
1)The Hardys
2)Chavo and Vicki
3)Hornswoggle play well with the kids
4)More HHH cannon fodder. He needs guys like Bam Neely and Mike Knox to squash.

wasnt it stated not long ago that the ECW touring with Raw had been pushed back to October anyway?

Ron Killings will debut under the name Jeremiah Washington or somethin retarded like that
Posted By: appl_jacks (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 10:32 PM
NO!
They need to put Ron Killings on RAW.
Either match him up with Cryme Tyme or have him feud with John Cena.
Instant ratings!

All this talk of bodyguards and no mention of one of the best, Big Bubba Rogers aka The Big Bossman backing Jim Cornette. Fueds with Rock n Rolls Express were classic.
Posted By: Chris336 (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 11:00 PM
Killings can debut as the new Big Daddy V with Simon Dean as his manager.
Perhaps a tag partner for Mark Henry, calling himself The Capuchin? Steve Lombardi can follow Killings to ring-side playing an organ grinder.
Wait -- I've got it. He could be Linda McMahon's wrestling chauffer!
Posted By: trueindeed (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 11:28 PM
William Regal should be behind Vince McMahon's accident, Brian Kendrick as a heel with a bodyguard is excellent, Ron Killings should be presented as a two-time World Champion and treated seriously.
Posted By: Matt Eli (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 11:33 PM
Honestly, though. Killings is no more than recognizable 'enhancement talent' so they don't have to bury guys like Elijah Burke.
Look forward to seeing you lose to more credible opponents, Ron.
Maybe you shouldn't have stolen grub from the WWE's food service truck a few years ago. Vince don't forget stuff like that.
And Spanky should get down with JBL as the wise-ass corporate boot-lick, instead. His character needs to be getting the rub, not giving it. With JBL, you can sure count on getting the rub.
Well...in the shower, at least.
Posted By: trueindeed (Guest) on July 09, 2008 at 11:36 PM
Funny how they seem to be trying to find black guys to push, but in their search they overlook Burke and Benjamin and instead push Mark Henry. But I digress.
Regal being back is good because it's Regal but I'm actually liking the way Raw is going with no GM and no McMahon. So maybe it'd be good to have him back just as wrestling talent. Perhaps he could even go to SD to resume his fued with Kenedy/
The bodyguard idea has never been my favorite. Having two at once probably isn't that good an idea, especially if your putting one with Brian Kendrick. It's a long way from pairing someone up with Shawn Michaels really.
Posted By: Fenris (Guest) on July 10, 2008 at 04:26 AM
Ah, it's too bad Ron Killings didn't stick with TNA. Maybe they would have paired him up with Consequences Creed, then they could have had... Truth & Consequences.
*rimshot, crickets chirping*
Okay, but there's been worse ideas. I still say Chris Masters should have been brought in as a product of the "Simon System"
Posted By: Tyg (Guest) on July 10, 2008 at 09:19 AM
Bodyguarding is a good way to start out. Look at Batista and Nash. Tomko too to an extent.
Posted By: Dr Domino (Guest) on July 10, 2008 at 09:19 AM
This sucks for me - because I want to see Ron Killings, but when SD jumps networks, I won't get it.
Is WWE putting that online that I can watch the way I can ECW a day later?

"With JBL, you can sure count on getting the rub. Well...in the shower, at least."
I agree with this so much I wrote a haiku about it.
Layfield hazes others.
The soapy finger points the way.
For the shower has clues.

I'm gonna call it
Kendrick & Bodyguard vs Jesse & Fetus
Posted By: jaypayday (Guest) on July 10, 2008 at 12:17 PM
Cena fears Killings
Posted By: jaypayday (Guest) on July 10, 2008 at 12:19 PM
That was a brilliant haiku!
At least they are not going to have Killings debut on Ebony Colored Wrestling.
WHAT'S UP (what's up) WHAT'S UP (what's up)

ppl cant forget that being a bodyguard for a wrestler has turned out to be pretty good debuts for some people. Bossman, Nash, and Tomko are some that people have mentioned. How bout Hernandez when he was a part of Jarret's Elite Guard and of course Chyna (hey she scored boob implants, an ic title run and a book albeit a shitty book but book nonetheless).

they actually did that, when Killings and Pac-man were champions and Pac-man couldn't wrestle. AJ & Tomko beat Truth & Consequences.
