WWE News: Murdoch’s Release, Dos Caras Jr, Ashley’s Release, Helms and Michelle to Return and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.15.2008
Tons of WWE news to kick off the day!
- The release of Trevor Murdoch surprised almost everyone. Michael Hayes requested he be brought to Smackdown and the idea was that he and MVP would start an odd couple tag team, which would have produced a lot of comedy segments. This would have led to a split and a big face turn for Murdoch. Hayes was not aware of the termination until the internal memo right after Murdoch was told about the release.
- Many people internally are skeptical of Ashley Massaro's release. In the company people feel that if her daughter was that ill, that the company would have understood and given her time off to deal with it, similar to how they gave Monty Brown several months off to deal with family issues before finally releasing him. Massaro was sent home before WrestleMania, but was brought back due to the injury to Candice Michelle. The push Mickie James is currently receiving was designed for Massaro, as she was a favorite of Kevin Dunn's. Dunn came up with the Diva search and Massaro was a pet project so to speak. James got the spot because it would have set a bad example to give Massaro the top push after being sent home. Massaro again was removed from TV and sent home after news broke, linking her to an escort service.
- Dos Caras Jr. was offered a WWE contract, but when he was told that he would be assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling to learn American style, he turned the offer down.
- Shane Helms and Candice Michelle are both expected back from injury very soon.
- Lance Cade vs. Shawn Michaels is scheduled for some upcoming WWE house shows.
That really sux that wwe realeasd her that is soooooooooo not right

Why you are sticking great wrestlers like me in Devolopmental????

So the push Mickie James is gettin' was originally for Ashley?! Wow, thank god she got released, or everybody would be subjected to a 50 pound girl breakin' her arm after tryin' to be a 'high flyer' every week. Keep it up Mickie!!!

How can we say it wasn't right ?
its unfortunate yes, but was it right ?
All we know for sure is that she went on her website, publicly requested a release and got one...
Seems right to me.
Now, if she had gone on her website and stated that she had requested some time off to tend to her family and was denied -THUS- she is requesting her release, Then it wouldn't be right.
in my opinion anyways.

The more I hear about Kevin Dunn, the more I think that he should have no say in anything creative ever.
And too bad about Dos Caras, from what I've seen of the guy he is freaking awesome.

"Hey let's put all these super talented multi faceted wrestlers in development!"
"I don't know what are we going to put on tv then?"
"More of the same!"
"Genius sir, simply genius!"

So they were going to make Ashley the woman to dethrown the Glamazon?
What do you know God's a Smart Mark, there was no way on his green earth he was going to let Ashley get that push and Title!
Seriously if Kevin Dunn has a desire to turn Diva Search Winners into credible women wrestlers maybe he should work with somebody else, IDK Eve and/or Layla.
Great that Shane Helms and Candice Michelle are coming back to TV. hopefully they'll get good pushes on their returns.

why was she sent home before mania?

"as she was a favorite of Kevin Dunn's."
Oh so that was who she was blowing backstage.

So I'm guessing now Mr. Hayes will be "punished" by being informed after the fact that his plans were sabotaged? Really nice, WWE...

good, hell with ashley. mickie seems to just get better every week

It boggles my mind why WWE would want to hire a Mexican wrestler and then make him wrestle an American style. Wouldn't it serve the same purpose to just hire an American wrestler and put a mask on him??
Posted By: KX (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 01:46 AM
I'm telling you, Mark Henry asked Saba Simba to put a curse on Michael Hayes.

Bring back the Hurricane!

No wonder the likes of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Mistico, and The Briscoes never signed with WWE.
stupid devolopment farms. guys like Cabana is stuck in there forever, while utter craps like Maryse and Atlas are promoted so quickly to the main roster

Great move, Mickie is smoking hot, Ashlee is a pig, good riddance to that nasty skank.

Dos Caras Jr?? Why would WWE want him? Didn't Mirko CroCop knock that guy out in like 5 seconds? Or is that another Mexican Luchador who made the jump from wrestling to MMA?
Posted By: JD (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 03:01 AM
"Wouldn't it serve the same purpose to just hire an American wrestler and put a mask on him??"
They tried that once. Aldo Montoya did not go over well!

stand back--there's a HURRICANE coming through!! Bring back the Hamburglar!!

He did lose a shoot to CroCop, but he only did it under pressure from Antonio Inoki (he was working for NJPW at the time), and had no interest in a career. He wore his frickin' mask in the fight, FFS!

It does seem a waste having the likes of Colt Cobana in FCW. But I can only guess they felt Cobana was too English style and "needed" to learn the WWE style, and being realistic went with it. Hopefully that is because they thought he would be huge when he debuts and didn't want it going wrong.
Posted By: Fenris (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 05:15 AM
So many people seem to miss the central point of "WWE style".
Posted By: Dr Domino (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 05:22 AM
Redneck Racist Hick & Cocky Black Athelete. Yeah, I can see that being a great idea. It's just Michael hayes way of keeping tha brother's down.
Posted By: squirrel master (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 07:41 AM
They put wrestlers in developmental to learn how to wrestle HHH-style punch and kick matches because no one on the card can make him look bad.
Posted By: JeremyL (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 09:26 AM
So they actually had something for Murdoch to do, "creative" (read Hayes) had ideas for him, so he got released for no good reason. The guy wasn't goign to be world champ, but he was a great mid card guy.

"Michael Hayes requested he be brought to Smackdown and the idea was that he and MVP would start an odd couple tag team, which would have produced a lot of comedy segments."
MVP at one point was the fastest rising star in the company, and they wanted to put him in a tag team with Trevor Murdoch? Why not Murdoch & Jimmy Wang Yang? That would produce comedy. Why not Murdoch and a resurrected Redneck Jamie Noble? That would have been comedic.
I feel bad for Murdoch and everything, but he'll land on his feet (likely in TNA alongside James Storm). MVP didn't need a tag team partner, and knowing that's what would have happened, I'm happy Murdoch is gone.
The Batman has spoken.

STAND BACK!

Like I need another reason to hate Kevin Dunn. I already have 8.
Posted By: Will (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 01:02 PM
Creative had ideas for him ?? (Murdoch)
lol.. no they didn't..
they -just- did that plan.
he was in a tag team as a heel..
got screwed over by his partner,
was a de-facto face and instead of
giving him a push on raw or smackdown with the singing gimmick they released him.
partnering him up with MVP for an "Odd man" tag team ?
well thats a great ~original~ idea.
think maybe that may have worked better with someone like..umm.. Matt Hardy and MVP ? lol..
thats a stupid idea.
have him feud outright with mvp maybe,
but don't pair them up !
mvp has potential and he could main event if they give him some good rub off of interactions with Hunter and going against Edges Family..
I enjoyed the interaction between MVP and Hunter on the VIP lounge a couple weeks back..
get him out of the power ranger outfit,
give him a bit more of a -real- feud and this guy could really catch fire.

I hope we never hear from Ashley again, she's a pig. There are prettier girls than her at the $5 lap dance club in the hick town an hour north of me.
..I would assume.
Kudos to the guy turning down the developmental deal. There have been enough bland, boring wrestlers come out of the farm system to last out the rest of the decade.

"get him out of the power ranger outfit"
MVP is an ex-con. He did almost 10 yrs for robbery & kidnapping. His body is covered with gang & prison tattoos, not to mention Malcolm X. Not good stuff for the kiddies to see. I don't think we'll ever see him out of the power rangers suit. Check wikipedia.

Wow, who would have thought. A reality TV wannabe competing for a million dollar contract wasn't loyal in the end.
Seriously, who's running WWE right now? A carrot?

Go Dos Caras!!!!!!!
Posted By: Diego (Guest) on July 16, 2008 at 06:51 AM
in comment to WWEVIL.......please MVP would not have been the very first ever Superstar of any kind that has been in some trouble, so what, if he was in jail he did his time and paid for any crimes so let the man have his spotlight. I have seen so many other unworthly celebrities shinning... just look at Britney Spears.....
Posted By: Tyler (Guest) on December 23, 2008 at 01:00 AM
in Comment to BringTheNoise. I am sorry but Dos is an EXCELLENT WRESTLER I have seen him in many matches on AAA Mexican top Wrestling show and he is amazing in the ring. Just because he did not win his match does not make him unworthy of wrestling. he has a lot of talent. look at Brock Lesnar, he was a champ in college Wrestling and he did not last in WWE the NFL and was first knocked out in the Ultimate type fighting and he did not give up...he came back and won so there, Dos is worth it, and I want to see him in the WWE, even though its fake.
Posted By: Tyler (Guest) on December 23, 2008 at 01:05 AM
dos caras would have been a good show but american wrestling is way fake and in mexican it's most likely you'd get real hits & the matches are not arranged like in wwe so thats why dos caras jr. didn't sign the contract i would've done the same thing
