TNA News: Samoa Joe/Booker T Plans, Possible Australia Tour
Posted by Ashish on 07.15.2008
Two TNA news items...
- Samoa Joe vs. Booker T in some type of stipulation match (First Blood or I Quit seems most likely) seems likely to headline TNA's September PPV. Sting may end up as the referee or special enforcer.
- TNA is said to be very happy with their TV ratings in Australia and could soon put together an Australian tour.
TNA putting on a PPV main event with more than one special stipulation? i just don't believe it.

Wait....NO! A TNA Stipulation match!? As in, not a regualr one on one?!!?! HOLY SHIT RUSSO! Just when I think you're out of ideas, you the MAN!

First Blood is waaaaaaaay to risky. Isn't that the only reason why Kane won a WWE Title? It's not like this is a blood feud, either, so why do I Quit? How's about a good old street fight or something.

First blood matches blow and an I Quit match should be reserved for a bigger grudge match than Booker/Joe.

I assume this rematch is for the August PPV since September's No Surrender is when we're supposed to be treated to that much-anticipated Joe/Kevin Nash match =/

Hey! Its TNA! Screw one stip! Joe vs Book in a First Blood I Quit on a Pole Match! w/ Sting as special ref ofcourse.

Make it a Submission or an Iron Man. Those matches rule. And Joe could run wild again instead of being a babyface pussy.

wow is anyone elselaughing at the two clowns who obviously didn't read the or part in the type of matches and are running their mouths oh man people are wrong these boards are great to see the clowns and their laughable attempts at trash talking.

Thats how you do rematches you tools just like WWE does it almost every freaking time.

I thought Last man standing would have been a better stip considering it would further Joes unbeatable killer drive.

My career is over.

You people that always make the "something on a pole" comment need some new material. It's OLD.
TNA tries to draw viewers with interesting gimmick matches, while WWE attempts to draw viewers with soap opera theatrics.

"First Blood is waaaaaaaay to risky. Isn't that the only reason why Kane won a WWE Title? "
Sort of, but not in the way you think. Russo booked himself into a corner by a) booking a first blood match with A MASKED WRESTLER and b) having Kane promise to set fire to himself if he lost. First Blood matches are pretty controlled most of the time.

Joe vs. Booker in a Reverse First Blood Match. Abdullah hacks them up and the first one to stop bleeding wins the title. BOOK IT, RUSSO!

How about a 'Gail Kim sits on my pole until she screams I Quit' match?
I'mn sorry..that was my OUTSIDE voice that said that.
Posted By: Rollie (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 04:54 PM
Why would you need a special ref for a 1st blood match?
Posted By: Michael (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 05:16 PM
Umm, the spot where Austin bled in that first blood match was clearly a worked spot. It went as planned.

i haven't seen a something on the pole match in tna in a good little while.....i see nothing wrong with a stip. match as long as it makes sense.

They're actually getting decent ratings in Australia with a single show at 10-12pm on a Saturday? Holy shit, my TV must be worth about half a ratings point by itself!

Last Man Standing gets my vote...but i fear that TNA will do it where you have to pin the guy first and then the guy has to answer the ten count. Then everyone will come on here and cry and complain that the rules are too complicated.
That, or Six Sides of Steel would be nice, but maybe too soon after Lockdown. I wanna see blood, but I don't want the blood to stop the match. First Blood matches have been sucky lately.
Outside of the schmoziness the way the ending to the Joe vs Booker T match happened, everyone called for Joe to stay off Booker T because it looked like Joe knocked him out (kayfabe). Look back and see how Booker T looked lifeless. The rematch calls for Last Man Standing.

you guys can read can't you it says first blood OR I quit match not both hopefully I quit because first blood should not main eventa ppv

I hope all the douchebags that are hoping we can read the "or" in the article realize that we're making jokes about how overbooked and clusterfuck-y TNA is. But since they're douchebags, my guess is "no, they don't".

Well if your talking match gimmicks then I would say having a guest referee counts and there wasn't a suggestion that would be an OR. So still a multiple gimmick match.
It's not as bad as usual though, usually TNA's angle seems to be to make the gimmicks more important then the talent. That is the problem. WWE may focus on the wrestlers personality (regardless of if they have one) more then their wrestling, but at least the focus is on the wrestlers themselves.

no Decky we're laughing at you because theres nothing overbooked about this and you're just using an old complaint that we're all sick of and is a joke now.
For a joke to be funny it has to actually make sense. Thats why you're getting mocked.

FINALLY get to fucking Australia TNA so ... well im not sure really. Just get here
Posted By: Brad (Guest) on July 15, 2008 at 09:54 PM
Considering iMPACT is on a 10pm Saturday timeslot here in Australia, I'm fairly shocked TNA is happy with the ratings. I just tape TNA cause I'm out.
However, I'm fairly sure a TNA tour would do very well over here. Wrestling is pretty popular here from all accounts and my own personal knowledge.

In Spain, they averaging 10% in a TV station that averages 15%, however WWE runs in a station that averages 7% and does 10%... so while WWE outperforms his Spanish station, TNA is equal with them in the ratings.
