If they give them time and let them cut loose, that could be a helluva match there.

So there's a category for Reality host, but WWE can't get a nomination for anything.

Seriously, Raw still gets 3s in the Ratings, when most cable shows are considered successful if they can maintain 2s. Smackdown carried CW. You'd think that somebody would think of some way to recognize pro wrestling's success. Instead they make a category for reality TV hosts?

Seriously This is what's wrong with America's entertainment system. they don't recognize real entertainment but decide that smiling and saying "lets meet our next contestants" deserves a freakin award!

Hey Emmys I got two words for ya..."Suck IT!"

i see the half baked rock dvd is pulling in all the money vince planned it would

I think Shelton would be better off in a tag team... Giving him a singles push is tantamount to giving Bobby Eaton or Stan Lane a singles push in 88. Some guys are meant for tag team greatness and/or jtts status.

Hmmm, so it is possible that the ECW guys with SD titles could be dropping them.... in preperation for a clean move to pair with Raw? Only that was put back a while, so that doesn't make sense.

Hell, you don't think they actually noticed how little their non-world titles are defended and decided to make a change? That's crazy talk!

Davis, get a clue.

WWE is a equivalent to a traveling circus if you're going to compare it to Emmy nominations.

I watch PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING to watch PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING. The problem with WWE is that the treat their product like it's a variety show. No one gives a crap about "comedy" "action adventure" and "drama", we just want to see PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING and Vince isn't going to trick the Emmy Awards.

If he really wants to win an Emmy though Vince should try hiring writers that aren't failed soap opera writers so he can put together half decent story arcs.

I got two words for you Davis, You're Dumb!

Holy shit, the 2001 National Title Game is gone. That was one impressive run in the top 10!

Don't worry Davis, when wrestling as an industry gets 30 or 40 million viewers plus, or if any single broadcast of a wrestling show ever spikes a 15 rating I'm sure there'll be an Emmy category made up for it.

But...the WWF could've won an emmy on the 80's...it was pretty much a comedy then. Not much has changed. It's not like just because it's PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING (that's right, I'm mocking you now) doesn't mean that it's not a fucking TV show, which is what the emmys are about. You may bitch when the WWE is nominated for an Oscar.

Posted By: Crazy8 (Guest)  on July 18, 2008 at 07:01 PM

Yes! Shelton vs Hardy for the US title... then Shelton drops it (hopefully quickly) to either MVP or Kennedy, once Matt is free of the UST he'll be free to go after the ECW title at Summerslam. Then they need to push a tag team to feud with (but not necessarily go over) Miz & Morrison and WWE will be in outstanding condition for summerslam!

Considering Randy Orton is a scarier meaner and more unlikable villian then any of the half assed attempts at bad guys network TV makes up, I say WWE should be in Emmy Running.

And considering everybody here acts like the Attitude Era was awesome because Stone Cold was being the common man fueding with his boss, That right there was Drama and Comedy. Comedy, Drama and acting have been part of pro wrestling since Gorgous George decided to exploit Homophobia, and "The Crusher" talked about dancing with Fat Polish women. If there's personal conflict between characters in a story it's Drama. Otherwise pro wrestling would just be a bunch of random guys beating upon each other. Even Boxing and MMA's biggest stories come from drama and character. You think Mike Tyson would be half the star he was if he was calm and polite. You think Randy Couture's Heavyweight title win last year would have been such a big deal if people didn't know Couture was old and had to push himself further then ever just to weasle every inch of strength from his body. NO Tyson's fame and Couture's win are meaningful because Tyson is a character, and Couture was a hero overcoming the odds (IE a story!)

BTW, the most remembered part of the last wrestlemania won't be Randy Orton retaining the Title, it won't be Undertaker beating Edge, and it won't be Floyd Maywether handling big show. It'll be Shawn Micheals whispering "I'm sorry, I love you." to Ric Flair, who was begging HBK to go ahead and beat him. That moment was emotional and (drama)tic as anything hollywood has cranked out in the past 30 years.

"Awww, Triple H fell out of the top 10 while Hardys remain. Those Hardys couldnt draw a dime! *end sarcasm*"

Lets just hope Triple H doesn't seek his revenge by finding a way to bury them, afterall Jeff is on his show and Matt is on its B show.

Davis, you can't gloss over from the Attitude Era to gorgeous george. And even though you're trivia was impressive you're missing the entire point. These are professional wrestling events. If you think Gorgeous George (if you or Crazy8 have even watched him wrestle) is the same entertainment genre as what the Emmys are all about then you've missing the entire point.

And wrestling did exist (in it's proper form) before The Attitude Era (and was a lot more successful) Davis... just so you know what's been Gorgeous George and Austin.

And yeah, great burn Crazy8... what a tough guy.

O.U. Hater, you're dumb for thinking that my 'sooners' won in 2001. My sooner won in 2000. Now drink my BBQ sauce and have a good cup of 'shut up!'
And for old times sakes... O.U. Hater= EPIC FAIL!

If the emmys can call Dancing with the Has-beens entertainment the same way they call the Office entertainment. I don't see why pro wrestling isn't in that equation. The Emmys include everything on TV except Wrestling, and its about time the excepted it.

BTW, I've seen some Gorgeous George Matches, they wern't exactly the same as todays but he was pretty good. I'm just saying from his embracing of a character to Austin vs McMahon to today wrestling has involved storytelling and acting as much as any drama. I decided to name the best known wrestler of before our time and the best known storyline in modern wrestling. As well as the example of a heart-touching moment in Pro Wrestling.

I also dispise reality shows, so the fact that they get recognition after only existing for less then two Decades while Televised wrestling has been around far longer annoys me. I get picked on sometimes for being a mark because wrestling isn't as cool as it used to be, but American Idol has artistic Merit?

I have the biggest move set in the WWE, capable of amazing manouvres, pretty good at promos and I'm the athletic superstar in the entire WWE. Only thing is WWe have me as a heel when I'm perfect for a next generation maineventing FACE!

Posted By: Shelton Benjamin (Guest)  on July 19, 2008 at 12:14 AM

Davis, the problem is that people still view wrestling as a medium only watched by inbred hicks and that piss poor reality shows draw a wider demographic.

I gotta agree with Davis here. I know the IWC like its wrestling to be storyline-free and let the action in the ring tell the tale. But's simply not the case. Even ROH has storylines and entertainment in its wrestling product.

if you want action, drama, suspense, love, comedy, tragedy and triumph no genre of film or tv can meld it all together like Pro Wrestling. U dont believe me take a look at Edge and Vickie. or the real life triumphs of Eddie Guerreo or Mick Foley's Long Island dream no one tells it better than pro wrestling other than pro sports.

WHERES FLAIRS DVD ON THE BILLBOARD?

Can someone PLEASE tell that fucking CHILD Davis to shut the hell up already. Jesus, he admitted to just starting to watch months ago and now he knows the entire history of pro wrestling. And can lecture all of us. So so so so SOOOOOO ANNOYING.

Posted By: Guest#6337 (Guest)  on July 19, 2008 at 04:57 PM

So WWE (which features talented performers and "unique" storylines) doesn't get an Emmy nomination because they think the viewers are inbred hicks but they nominate Reality TV shows that film inbred hicks doing humiliating tasks?

What a country!

Good O'l JR, they won for the 2000 season at the 2001 Orange Bowl. Check your facts dude.
