IWA Puerto Rico Summer Attitude Results 07.20.08
Posted by Armando Rodriguez on 07.20.2008

IWA Puerto Rico's Summer Attitude Results from Bayamon, PR on July 20th 2008

Attendance: Around 1,200. One of the best for IWA this year.

- Savio Vega and his stable open the show to hype Savio's running for governor. Pretty lame shtick really, but the people ate it up. He introduces his new "Faces of Fear" trio of Damien, Spectro and Ramstein. Ramstein is making his debut here and he is a former NWS wrestler.

-6-Man Tag Team Match
"The Faces of Fear" Damien, Spectro & Ramstein defeat three jobbers in a squash. Obviously this match was added to the card as a way to put over the new monster trio.

- Totin the Clown came out to give candy to the kids and he was carrying a sign that said "I want to be in the Hardcore Title Match". Yep, mocking El Condor again.

-Flag Match
Onix defeats Zaer Arafat when he recovers the Puerto Rican Flag. Two flags, the Puerto Rican Flag and the Iraq flag where placed on two poles, one in each corner. The winner of the match was the first one to climb the 15 foot pole and recover their country's flag. Onix wins, although he fell from the pole and landed awkwardly on the outside. He did not seem hurt, but the fall was legit.

- "The Rebel" Chris Joel vs Miguel Perez went to Double Disqualification. The match began outside with both men brawling and ended that way several minutes later when the ref threw out the match because he could not get control of the brawl. They never even set foot in the ring. I did not like the finish. I understand that Miguel is a part time wrestler now and he is not in a good condition to work for long (he was gassed in the first few minutes). However, if he can't go....why not put someone else in the ring with Joel? Or let Joel squash him, is not like Miguel's name means anything this late into his career.

-IWA Cruiserweight Title
Death Warrant defeats El Niche by pinfall to become the new champion. Warrant has been working in and out of IWA since his first try-out several years ago and was one of the few juniors that I knew, so I agree with the title change. I see a lot of potential in him if they book him right.

-Referee Match
Pelayito Vazquez defeats Frankie Berdecia by pinfall. Very bad match and you could tell that Pelayito had to carry Frankie through the entire match. Pelayito might be extremely skinny (120 lbs tops) but he moves very well in the ring and I never understood why IWA never made him a full time member of the junior division.

-IWA Puerto Rican Title Tournament Finals:
Hardam Kadaffi defeats Vengador Boricua by pinfall to become the first ever IWA Puerto Rican Champion. His partner Zaer Arafat and a returning Rico Casanova (manager role I guess) distracted Vengador and allowed the heel to win. One of the Iraqui's gets the belt and I am very surprised at that, but the gimmick is getting a lot of heat and both of them are very decent workers.

-IWA Hardcore Title: 4 Way Dance
El Escorpion defeats Angel and two jobbers to become the new Hardcore Champion when he puts an object in his mask and headbutts one of the jobbers. His celebration is short lived as Mr. Pleassure (with two "s") runs in and attacks him, covers him and wins the title under 24/7 rules. Totin the Clown then comes out with the same sign as before and Pleasure mocks him, but he did not notice that Totin had taped a stop sign underneath the card board sign he was carrying around and Totin clocks him with the stop sign and covers him to win the title under 24/7 rules. To recap: El Escorpion wins the title, then Pleasure wins the title and finally Totin wins the title. And I never in my life believed I would be typing this, but your NEW HARDCORE CHAMPION IS TOTIN THE CLOWN! If they turn him into a psycho clown or something, I am all for it. But seriously, IWA seems to use the 24/7 rule only when it is convenient and they should decide whether to stick with it or not use it altogether.

-IWA Women's Title: Prison Break Match
"High Voltage Girl" Genesis defeats Sweet Nancy to become the new champion. The rules stated that Black Rose & La Potra where to be locked inside a cage at ringside. Shaka the Trucker tried to help Nancy, but Barbie Boy ran in to stop him. Seriously, the gay dude is the most over guy in that company right now. The crowd just went nuts when he came out and took Shaka down. After Genesis wins, Shaka manages to free the other ladies and they demolish Genesis. Shaka locks Barbie Boy inside the cage, but La Morena runs out, steals the key and liberates Barbie, who goes into the ring and makes the save.

- Totin the Clown is seen running through the arena trying to escape from his enemies. He is carrying around a barbed-wire 4x4! Psycho Clown!!

-IWA Intercontinental Title
"The Heartbreaker" Romeo defeats Mr. Big by pinfall in a very bloody match to retain the title. One of the best matches of the night and Romeo is not only a good worker, but he is getting tons of heat and if threy continue to book him right, he is a future main eventer.

- IWA Tag Team Titles
Noel Rodriguez & Dennis Rivera defeat La Cruzz del Diablo (Cruzz & Diabolico) by pinfall to retain the titles in another bloody match. The heels used several illegal objects during the match. They continue to beat Cruzz and Diabolico down, but they eventually fight back and make their own save.

- IWA World Title
"The Golden Latino" Joe Bravo defeats Blitz by pinfall to become the new champion. Savio Vega had promised an enforcer for this match and it turned out to be....Savio Vega! How original? Of course, he helped Bravo during the entire match. Bravo wins and the entire heel stable comes out to beat Blitz down. Mr. Big and El Niche run out for the save, but are eventually dominated. From the crowd comes two hooded men and they make the save. They turned out to be Chicano and Stefano and Chicano calls for an alliance and the reunion of La Rabia and La Calle! The crowd is all for it, but Big and Blitz turn him down. Niche joins them however.

Top to bottom this was a fantastic show and a worthy rival to the WWC Anniversary Show.
