More TNA News: Tomko & Runnels Done w/ TNA, Nash Upset, Daivari Name Change, Gymini Backstage
Posted by Ashish on 07.30.2008
Lots of TNA news...
- Tomko finished up with TNA over the weekend. Tomko is done with the company because he was having issues with the creative team. He often turned down ideas and didn't work with the company, so the decision was made to part ways with him.
- Dustin Runnels is also done with TNA. The company decided that they had nothing creatively for him. The door is open to use him in the future though.
- Kevin Nash clashed with management at the Impact taping last night over the finish to the Gauntlet match that will air next week. Nash ended up leaving the taping, but things have apparently blown over and he is still with TNA.
- Shawn Daivari's ring name in TNA will be Sheik Abdul Bashir as the company wants to be able to own his name.
- Former WWE wrestlers Todd & Michael Shane (The Gymini) were backstage at the Impact taping last night.
WWE should resign Tomko. would that make him the 1st WWE-TNA-ject?
Posted By: Jake Fury (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:20 PM
I can see Tomko leaving. It sucks because he was actually doing good, but if he didn't like the storylines (and God forbid what types they were) what can you do. Seriously I thought Tomko had a future on TNA since last year's Slammiversary it was just a matter of time.
As for Goldu....Black Rei...Dustin Rhodes (jumps and hollers in the air) thank God he's gone now people can stop complaining about him even though he hasn't been around in months.
I don't want to see Gymini other than to be jobbers like the Heartthrobes were.
And good luck to Daivari in TNA hope you improve

Actually the first WWE-TNA-ject would be Ron Killings. On the other hand, a TNA-WWEject would be Kaz.

"WWE should resign Tomko. would that make him the 1st WWE-TNA-ject?"
No, those honors go to Jeff Hardy.

Off the top of my head there's Ron Killings, Jeff Hardy, D-Lo Brown.

no cm punk was in tna before he went to wwe
Posted By: Guest#3444 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Also, why in the FUCK did they change Daivari's name? I understand doing it for people like Amazing Kong, Talia Madison, Angel Williams, guys like that, but for fuck's sake, Daivari is his real goddamn name! If it's a ring name and he wants to keep the rights to it I understand but they can't copyright his birth name for christ's sake.
Posted By: m8 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:32 PM
uh oh for tna... there 3 best performers are either gone or leaving... i expected big things from runnells... i thought this would be the time he got a good push to show off his talent... i always thought he could be nearly as good as hhh...
Posted By: milky (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:33 PM
the E needs to go and sign tomko back to there side he prolly will never main event mania but he could make a decent uper mid card and decent contender to there ic and us belts hell him on ECw would be good
Posted By: mazzacre (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:33 PM
Tomko was such a waste. When he stood up to Kurt Angle back a few months ago, the fans were chearing him and it seemed like they could make him the #1 babyface. Then they do a random "surprise" heel turn and it just didn't make sense and it was all downhill from there.
Posted By: Mr. C. (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:39 PM
Nonsensical face/heel turns swerves?! That's Russo baby! Oh Vinny Roo! WHERE ARE YOU!?
Posted By: PHOENIXZERO (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:45 PM
Praise be. Tomko + push = waste of time. He's a charisma vacuum, folks, and not even a terribly great worker. He was a "big man" castoff from WWE. TNA was stupid to take him and then try to push him as some sort of main eventer. I have no problem with him as a mid-card supporting role kind of guy; but main event push with as much TV time as we was getting there for awhile? Fuhgetabowdit.
Oh well...no more "TOMKO LIKE PUSH!" jokes.
"Hey Tomko, want some TV time?"
"TOMKO LIKE PUSH!"
Once more for old time's sake.

Bring back Goldust!
Posted By: jbardo (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:48 PM
You just explained why in your post. They can't trademark his birthname which means that if he leaves the company, he can request the company remove anything with his name on it, not saying he would, but he could. WWE does it, why shouldn't TNA protect themselves?
As for Tomko being the first WWE-TNA-ject, the names mentioned (Hardy, D'Lo, Killings) are all correct, but you're missing a few, Shannon Moore, Jamal (Umaga), Jim Duggan, Brian Kendrick, Nelson Knight (Big Flabby V) and Justin Credible. So there have been a number already
Posted By: Chris (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:48 PM
Tomko works far better in Japan anyways. Hopefully he can come back full time to New Japan.
Posted By: KX (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:52 PM
thats a real shame about both men. tomko was getting alot better, till morgan came in and basically took his character and push away. i also think runnels could have contributed a great deal to the creative team. he's got an absolutely brilliant wrestling mind, but was unfortunately packaged with a thrown together gimmick with no time to hone it properly before being stuck in front of the camera.
Posted By: hellboysetsfiretogotham (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:52 PM
Actually...wouldn't it be Punk?
Posted By: Guest#9294 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:55 PM
They had a good thing going with Tomko and they seem to have screwed it up. He seemed on the fringe of the main event then suddenly he dropped down the pecking order, coughbookertcominginhack! Sure the WWE will eventually have him again.
As for Daivari...pointless name changes rule!! With Austin Aries you could understand, but with Daivari being his given name (and the one he used in WWE), and the general crapness of his new name, I think it's an idiotic decision.
Posted By: dennett316 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 05:58 PM
Add Mickie James to the list
Posted By: rellikA (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:02 PM
Add Monty Brown (Marquis Cor Von) as well to the list.
Posted By: Ari Berenstein (Registered) on July 30, 2008 at 06:15 PM
monty brown/marcus cor von
as for tomko, at one point and time he was over like rover. he was prime for a main event run. the storylines must have been russo-esque for him to reject a push.
Posted By: rey (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:15 PM
Don't forget Shannon Moore as another WWE-TNAject
Posted By: Guest#2526 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:20 PM
Actually add Chris Harris and Monty Brown as well.
Posted By: DrNorge (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:29 PM
Hmmm... I remember the fans being really into Tomko when he was turning on Angle. The seemed more into Tomko then Joe.
Posted By: Electrichotdog (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:37 PM
Let's not forget wwe-tna ject....."The Reject" Shannon Moore.
Posted By: Jason (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:38 PM
Where are the taping results for last night anyways? Did I miss it?
Posted By: Paul (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:39 PM
I am pretty sure Zack Gowen was the first tna-wwe reject.
Posted By: Guest#8621 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:48 PM
Tomko, well, that was fast. Not as fast as Test, but, hey, still like a flash. Mark these words: it'll be like he was never there. I can't even remember his last appearance.
Posted By: Guest#2474 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 06:56 PM
I read that Tomko was now going to work in Japan full-time now. It's a shame as I thought he was a lot better than he was in WWE.
Posted By: Bobby (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:00 PM
So TNA pushes Tomko makes him a star then pisses him off and let himleave as more profitable for WWE. First I liked Tomko a heck of a lot ore than Morgan.
Remember before Runnels sogned with TNA, Stephanie wanted to bring Goldust back as a Upper card heel.
Posted By: BischoffRulz (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:01 PM
i think a good I'm embarassed of my brother angle would be good for cody if goldust does return
Posted By: pac ur bags (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:05 PM
Awesome! Dustin's gone! VKM next please!
Posted By: Scott (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:12 PM
While they're at it, get rid of Kip and BG James. I'm pretty sure my prostate has more charisma (and maybe in-ring skill!) than those two.
Posted By: tna-na-na-na (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:17 PM
Dustin should go to WWE and become Goldust again
Posted By: Mordecai (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:36 PM
Thats a shame about Tomko, he was the first guy to beat Joe. I'm sure he is making decent coin in Japan. He did really improve though from his run in WWE. I could see them hiring him back. Maybe a bodyguard for Edge, that would be ironic. TNA are real asshats, they had a guy who was hot, and what happens, they do something stupid. They probably wanted him to wear a dress or something equally stupid.
As for Dustin, I don't see why they don't use him as an agent. But, his dad and brother are in WWE, so I'm sure he can end up there as an agent or maybe help his dad train down in FCW
Posted By: DC (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:41 PM
Actually Shannon Moore is the WCW/WWF/INDY/TNA/ECW/WWE REJECT !
Hence is new name (Reject )as it's not the The Prince Of Punk anymore
Kaz has been to WWF not televised - TNA back to WWE than back to TNA !
Many losers here !
Posted By: WTF (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 07:44 PM
if im not mistaken tomko jeff hardy and ron killings was in wwe then tna. jeff hardy and ron killings went back to wwe. cm punk is in his first wwe run. so I don't think he counts.
Posted By: brian (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 08:02 PM
"Shawn Daivari's ring name in TNA will be Sheik Abdul Bashir as the company wants to be able to own his name."
First character gimmicks, then match gimmicks, then storylines, and now business methods. TNA once again steals from the WWE.
Posted By: Guest#8016 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 08:04 PM
Tomko probably isn't going to be a hall of famer but I think he'll find work.
I wouldn't advise Tomko for WWE though, he should focus more on the Indys and Japan for a while and go for WWE later. Just doesn't seem like the right time to get stuck in developmental.
Posted By: Davis (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Tomko was good, but I'm happy a WWE-reject is gone. TNA is filled with them an it's unnecessary.
I'm hoping they at least jobbed him out to Abyss or event Matt Morgan on his way out.
Posted By: Guest#8921 (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 08:16 PM
If every TNA wrestler decided to stay or not based on their storylines then the whole roster would be Kurt Angle, Joe, Booker and ODB.
Posted By: NickNitro (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 08:29 PM
After playing God of War 1 & 2 Tomko became my favorite wrestler. Now if he can just deepen that voice he will be huge in WWE
Posted By: AG Awesome (Registered) on July 30, 2008 at 08:53 PM
This Tomko thing sucks for other big men in the company: Matt Morgan, Abyss, etc.
Posted By: Kevin (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 08:57 PM
actually to be a wwetnaject you have to leave the wwe for tna only to return to the wwe. cm punk isnot one.
Posted By: the dude (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 09:17 PM
MVP was a TNA reject too. He got squashed by Monty Brown in two minutes...
Posted By: Donners (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 09:21 PM
Bring back Goldust! And not as a goddamn comedy character this time, damn it.
Posted By: Internet Jesus (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 09:48 PM
Hey now, Kaz was on Velocity and that show was great. It's like Vince had no idea he had that show and the people did whatever they wanted. London and Akio want a fifteen minute match? Done. Josh Matthews wants to talk stats from Jamie Noble's time in ROH. Knock yourself out.
Posted By: Wendell Mitchell (Registered) on July 30, 2008 at 10:09 PM
TNA allowed Tomko to shine, but they then screwed everything up. Considering how bad TNA booking is I'm not suprised Tomko was so difficult to work with. At one point Tomko was on the verge of a heel to face switch and was getting over big time with the fans, but he then ended up being swerved back to being a heel and a henchman instead of his own man.
Tomko had future TNA headliner written all over him. TNA have screwed up.
Posted By: JAK (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 10:09 PM
Christ, Dustin Rhodes seems to be the king of the Amicable release.
Posted By: ButchReedMark (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 10:24 PM
it sucks that it came to this with tomko, he made tons of progress and was starting to get over with the fans. I enjoyed the team of him and AJ but oh well...It sounds like tomko wasnt being very cooperative with creative...but knowing russo, he probably wanted tomko to dress as a goat...
Posted By: Joe (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Y'all forgot to add Kid Kash to the list.
Ok, y'all can go back to forgetting about Kid Kash again.
Posted By: trueindeed (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 10:50 PM
As much as I was enjoying Tomko, he's not as captivating a big man as Matt Morgan. However the problem of letting someone go like Tomko is that you don't have any intimidating heel big men on the roster. Tomko was an enygma in that you really felt like he was the guy u don't want to mess with. the heels in TNA are so vanilla, Tomko seemed legit badass. The only thing holdin him back were his promos. I don't know how to feel about this.
Posted By: bighustle (Guest) on July 30, 2008 at 11:44 PM
They were stupid to begin with for not bringing in Albert to tag with Tomko, instead of having him tag with "likeable goofy heel" AJ.
Posted By: Nick (Guest) on July 31, 2008 at 12:31 AM
How do they let Tomko though? They had basically created a lower main event heel from scratch and then let Russo run him off! I actually liked Tomko, he even captained the TNA War Games team! Team Tomko!
And if they didn't have any long term plans for Dustin why did they devote SO MUCH TV TIME to watching him put his "rat bag" on people for -MONTHS-? Makes TNA look bush league with no real direction. it;s like stuff is written three days earlier at the latest.
Posted By: Team Tomko Member (Guest) on July 31, 2008 at 01:53 AM
Just a little note on the wasted push of Tomko, didn't something like that happen in WWE? The main heel's muscle get cheered, wildly over with the crowd, they're aching for a turn.
And didn't WWE actually capitalise on it and make a new main eventer called Batista? How can you screw something up when you fall into the same situation your competitor did a couple of years before? As much as people hate Batista, he's over and makes them money, Tomko could have been that for TNA.
Posted By: Robin (Guest) on July 31, 2008 at 03:22 AM
That sucks about Tomko, it looked like TNA was really getting behind him. He seemed pretty popular in Japan during the TNA show there, maybe he'll hang out there for a while.
With Dustin gone from TNA maybe the WWE will think of some way to use him and Dusty in a storyline with Cody.
Posted By: Tyg (Guest) on July 31, 2008 at 09:26 AM
Until TNA creates a secondary title for their upper mid-carders, expect more guys (Tomko, Monty Brown, Chris Harris) to leave the promotion, citing creative gave them "nothing to do". Bad move TNA!
Posted By: Ryder (Guest) on July 31, 2008 at 10:36 AM
Nash is not a booker.
Why does he feel he needs to change all the outcomes?
They should get rid of his big old ass if he doesnt want to work.

Perhaps Bashir is a reference to the slime ball pile of mucus on ABC news.
