Various News: Ric Flair Bookings, Flair and ROH Not Happening and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 08.20.2008
Some various news items to kick off the day!
- Ric Flair is being booked through Elaine Gillespie, who also represents Mick Foley and Roddy Piper. Flair is asking $15,000 for autograph appearances, well below what other names are charging. For example Hulk Hogan charges $75,000, Bill Goldberg charges $30,000, and Steve Austin charges $20,000 for such a signing. He has an offer of $50,000 to do a shoot interview, which most feel will be worth it as a recent Outsider's Shoot interview grossed $50,000.
- Flair's people had talks with ROH about him making an appearance on a big show, but the price wasn't feasible for ROH. Flair has an appearance fee for coming in as well as a separate fee for doing autographs. On top of that, he also has a separate price for coming into the ring and cutting a promo.
- "Dark Angel" Sarah Stock broke her right arm in a match with Raven Hiroka on August 7th in Aguascalientes. She is expected to miss a few months. TNA had shown interest in her, but with the company building a relationship with CMLL, they were being politically correct and trying to work through the office, which slows things down.
wow, no bitter WWE marks 'commenting' on the fact RoH didn't want to pay Flair's fee. Good luck to both Ric and Gabe for making smart financial moves, I'm sure they'll do business sooner rather than later.

Keep setting WWE merchandise on fire, pal.

Has anyone explained how Flair is getting all these offers if ROH, probably the biggest and most financially secure indy, can't afford him?

Goldberg gets $30,000, yet Flair is asking $15,000.... Whats wrong with this picture?

How would ROH recoup a fee like that for one guy? Just asking.
And the Outsiders shoot GROSSED (as in MADE) only 50k? Is that good? Or did they pay Hall and Nash that much to do it? Just asking.
Ric Flair should come to TNA and appear for the NWA as well.
He could lead a new faction in TNA and be the mouth piece.
Ric Flair = instant credibility.

ROH has been in business a while now, they're savvy enough to figure out the investment/pay off revenue and they probably can't see that a Flair appearence would increase attendance is shows are already performing well. What they could pay for Flair they might be able to get a top-line wrestler for a match instead, so that would be the better investment maybe.

With the rumored rebirth of the millionaires club vs. new blood angle, that would be a tremendous opportunity for Flair to make an appearance in TNA. The shoot promos he'd cut on Nash would be awesome!

A smart jewish man will never lose in business. On the other hard a man who undercuts the competition will not be liked for long.

Something doesn't seem right. You're saying it's worth paying $50K to Flair for a shoot interview (an incredibly low rate, by the way) because the Outsiders' shoot video "grossed $50K". Why would a small-time company make that kind of investment just to break even?
And $50K seems low for Flair, but seems even lower for money-hungry guys like Hall and especially Nash. Did the company find them in a moment of weakness?

Because the outsiders grossed $50,000..and the sort of ppl who would buy shoot interviews detest these guys as part of the reason WCW died. Flair is a living legend and a decent shoot I would even buy, as I know there was plenty of stuff he never had a chance to say on any WWE DVD since it was more about praising etc.

Wow I thought 15k for an autograph session was high until I saw Austin for 20, Goldberg for 30 and Hogan for 75!!!??
Okay, I'm a Hulkamaniac, but I'd hire Flair for 15 in a heartbeat over Hogan for 75.
I dunno, Maybe Hulk is trying to get some extra cash for that ridiculous amount he has to pay Linda every month.
