WWE News: Summerslam Dark Match Result, Rory On Release
Posted by Ashish on 08.18.2008
Two Monday news items...
- In a Summerslam dark match, Big Show defeated Bam Neely.
- Highlander Rory McAlister posted the following statement about his WWE release on his MySpace page.
As I'm sure you've all heard by now The Highlanders are no longer working for WWE. I know that some people have been bitter and upset after getting released but for me this just isn't the case. Sure there are some things that I wishe had been done better but I have no regrets.
WWE gave me more than I had been given before in this business and I am thankfull for that. I spent time living in a car on the independants where as now I have a nice house and no longer life in my car but enjoy driving it:) My time in WWE was a roller coaster for sure. I love the fans there and that was the main reason I loved being there. I made many friends, most of whom have been released long before me, and I will and do miss hanging out with them and I had fun with most of the agents and backstage boys. But the flip side of all that is I was becoming very unhappy there. We were hired because of who we were on the independants and that sure wasn't what we were allowed to be on t.v. The goofy guys you saw on there just wasn't who we were and with a gimmick like that I knew it was gonig to be hard to step out from that shadow and be taken seriously and we weren't. Also after Monday night I knew the writing was on the wall. I hadn't been in a ring for seven months and the match we did seemed like a swansong to us both.
I'd like to thank Johnny Ace! If it wasn't for him we would have never been hired and I'd like to thank him also for the phone call today. He was very honest and actually a lot of help. He knows what he did so I won't put him over too much or he'll get a big head...lol Thanks John. I'd also like to thank everyone everywhere who supported us and made our tenure there seem worth something, even when it seemed like it wasn't. And to you the fans....what can I say? I love you all and God bless!
I will be putting up an address where we can be reached for bookings or charity work, which is truely something I enjoy.
PS-Next time you see me in the Impact Zone I'll be in the ring jobbing not in the crowd clapping.

Damn Paul. I feel your pain.

What, the WWE picked up independent talent for what they were doing, then didn't want them doing that in the WWE ring? Next thing you'll be saying they hired a fat guy and then told him he was too fat.

Robbie seems like a nice guy. The Highlanders were a damn solid tag team, and if TNA gave them a serious run, they could be a pretty cool addition to the TNA World Tag Team Title hunt.

tna owes these guys a contract.

Wrong one. You idiots need to learn to read and comprehend.

Is it in their contract that when wrestlers are released they have to immeadiately go on MySpace and fawn over WWE, and how amazing it was to work there.

Hmmm, apart from the odd typo this was a well writen and well spelled wreslter MySpace.
Yankee Wrestler: MySpace filled with spelling errors, horrid grammar and lolspeak.
Canuck Wrestler: None of the above.
Maybe Canadian wrestlers write in English and Yank ones write in American.

People who say "Yank" are as lame as people who talk in ebonics.

I wouldn't mind seeing them in TNA. like Matt Eli said they were a solid team and would be a nice addition to the tag team roster. I'd also like to see Trevor Murdoch get a chance too.

We'll see if TNA has the decency to give the Highlanders a job after one of them was out-ed on national TV.

Now that is a class act.

"Who did The Big Show tick off ? BERRIED GIANT !!!"
I believe there was a plan to match Show up with Umaga, but the Samoan Bulldog (tm Mike Adamle) recently got injured.

For the 671st time, Vince SCREWED THE POOCH with the 'Landers . . . shoulda been psycho-killer-bloddy-Sheepherder heels, not Eugene/Doink level faces.

Wooder is a classic example of why I hate Canadians. For some reason because they live above the United States, they feel that they are above them in everything else. You guys are lame.

Personally, I think they'd be better off in ROH just to show off their real in ring skill.

WWE did that on purpose. They hired the Highlanders, then they weren't allowed to be themselves like they were in the indys, made to look goofy and probably never be taken seriously, then fired them. The WWE purposely buired them so they wouldn't end up going working for their competition.

Guess he'll be back to living in his car.

What WWE hired them and wouldn't let them be who they were when only 50 people watched them in some derlict shed?
What about Burchill? Undefeated in England, with an excellent, fitting gimmick and intense, interesting moveset, then he's in WWE as Regals bitch, then a friggin pirate, then an incestuous freak, now a vanilla jobber to the stars.
Monty Brown - a lot of potential, high impact crowd pleasing power moves, but in the E, he's Marcus Cor Von, the man with no personality for a fleeting period, then unemployed.

Yeah, technically North isn't the same direction as Up. But never mind, I know geography is difficult for you guys ;)
It's fine to bitch about Canadians, being your neighbours, but do bear in mind most of the rest of the world think Canada is a much better place then the US (aside from the cold).

Yup, Mark, that's exactly why you guys have the huge swell of immigrants and we don't, right?
Posted By: Big Daddy Matty (Guest) on August 18, 2008 at 07:12 PM
So why do all of you live within 50 miles of the border and come here for major medical treatment?

See you in TNA
Posted By: RedVexx (Guest) on August 18, 2008 at 10:08 PM
Vince or whoever scouted them, liked what they saw because they thought they would fit the part of something they had already come up with.
Posted By: Dillrock (Guest) on August 19, 2008 at 12:20 AM
You know Mark, you're right. Canada is so much better. That's why almost all of your celebrities come to our country to find fame and money, instead of staying in Canada and saving up loonies. Oh yeah, and your country's favorite sport? About 85% of the NHL teams are in the US, not in Canada. Face it, the only way for Canadians to make it is to come to the US. At the end of the day, you want to be just like us, but that French half in all of you kicks in saying that "We are better than the Americans." PS- How's Canada's medal count in the Olympics right now? Cause I know America is doing all right.
