Wait. So this Scramble puts the champ a serious disadvantage. Also, one challenger will only have 5 minutes to get the belt. Who wants to bet that CM Punk gets worked the eniter match only to pull out a flukey pin with 10 seconds to go?

Why didnt they just have an elimination chamber match? So that means that being the last in the match is a bad thing as you will only have 5 minutes to score a pinfall or submission right? Did Russo come back?

Posted By: natedoggcata (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 03:54 PM

they better use a gag where one guy gets a submission, then someone gets a pinfal right after, so the original guy locks the same hold on and gets another submission right away.

Who here can say Cluster Fuck?!?

Posted By: Methoes (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 04:01 PM

So the Scramble is like the Elimination Chamber only crappier and with a time limit. Sounds AWESOME!

"Why didnt they just have an elimination chamber match?"

Maybe because they had two of them just a few months ago?

**Here are the rules for the WWE Scamble match at Unforgiven.**

I know it was typo, but there is some truth in calling it a "Scam"ble!

Glad you all just set around waiting for something else to complain about lol

Elimination Chamber Without the chamber...wow LAME!!!

Posted By: A Pencil (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 04:21 PM

heres whats gonna happen:
assuming there is only one referee.
The titles will change hands constantly, obviously but during the last 3 seconds (of course) Batista and Cena will have someone pinned (lets hope not Punk), the ref will make the three count having us wonder who the ref was counting. This will leave your title vacant which will give us an added Jericho if its an elimination Chamber, but hoping "Adamle" gives us a ten year anniversary survivor
Series Tourny.
Just my guess.

Wouldn't it make more sense that in order to become "temporary champion," you have to pin the guy that is champion instead of some random guy? I wonder how much Russo makes working for both TNA and WWE

Posted By: Michael (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 04:25 PM

They forgot to add a rule to the Scramble...

* And if no clear winner emerges from all of this, a two-man sack race will be held on consecutive Sundays until a champion can be crowned.

"Glad you all just set around waiting for something else to complain about lol

That would bit "sit". Not that I'm complaining or anything :)

Is Vince watching TNA on Thursdays and saying to his staff, "wow thats a pretty retarded gimmick...I think we can do them one better gentlemen." Coming next week on RAW, Vince buys the GCW wrestling tape library and decides the bungee cord match needs to make it's come back. There are two gimmick matches I want to see back, shove the rest.

WAR GAMES - Double ring and all.
Lethal Lottery - Complete with teams that don't like each other and the sweet battle bowl ring for the winner.

Definitely sounds like a "clusterfuck." But in a good way...

Posted By: Guest#6356 (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 04:46 PM

... thats the stupidest match in the world.. that means the last person out only gets 5 mins in the match... god.. i swear. this is just another match for Punk to "survive" and try to make is championship reign glorious.

Posted By: wylung (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 04:58 PM

Orton comes back with 10 seconds left as a "secret entrant" hits the RKO on Punk and leaves with the title. Punk and Orton can feud for the title over the next 3 months

This has "let's screw CM Punk" written all over it.

Wait a second, WHERE is everyone getting the "ELIMINATION CHAMBER" from?

Sounds more to me like a Royal Rumble style match, remove the elimination and add in the Iron Man match's multiple falls within a given time limit clause.

They most likely gave the match 20 minutes due to the match itself being hotly contested by fans. Just one dope's opinion.

Vince must have sustained brain damage from the titan tron falling on him..

You guys who are complaining that it isn't a elimination chamber match are the same kats who complained when Bischoff announced the original elimination chamber concept on Raw LOL.... just fall back and wait and see how it plays out...

A 5-man GAUNTLET match with a 20 minute time limit?

...

There goes the PPV. Thanks, but no thanks.

Wouldn't it make more sense that in order to become "temporary champion," you have to pin the guy that is champion instead of some random guy?

Because that would make too much sense ;)

well, because that was the rule they had when they did this with the hardcore title, you had to pin the champ.

i also smell punk jobbing but getting the final win with seconds left

Posted By: tmw (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 05:24 PM

This is not the same as the Elimination Chamber because this is not an elimination match.

I'm going to the MSG show, lol. Origianally it was Cena v. Batista and Kofi v. Lance Cade. Personally I rather see Cena v. Jericho, but I was looking forward to the Lance Cade match. =\

Bitches quit snivelling about gimmick matches this is what it has come too! If you don't like it don't blame russo blame yourselves for watching - if you have a TV!

why in the hell do we keep getting updates for this simple match. I actually got it the 1st time Adamle explained it

If he gets worked for the entire match and gets a "fluke" pin, it wouldn't be a fluke pin, cause you know, he worked the ENTIRE match. Now if JBL is the last one in and gets a roll up, I'll be pissed.

Considering that the other guys have been beating up each other for 15, 10 and 5 minutes, I'd say no. To be last is not a bad thing, quite the contrary.

This looks like a classic MSG card. Too bad MSG Network doesn't still carry the matches. This one looks worth paying for.

Why not say fuck it and have them all in the ring from the get go and have a battle royale mentality.

This match is nothing but complete BOLLOCKS, its their way of a poitential way out of punk being champion or a very predictable fluke last minute win by punk. Why cant they just give punk an extended programme with somebody and build up his respectability by letting him have some solid non gimmick matches. And the GTS finisher sucks balls, when it isnt peformed as it should be it looks tame and awkward.

WWE creative... what are they smoking?

Posted By: Jay (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 08:04 PM

I like the idea of it, but WWE is so against putting on long matches on a semi-regular basis, and that's what messes this up. Whoever comes in at 15 minutes (likely JBL) will very obviously have no choice. Why even make it a 5-way? Make it a 4-way and have 10 minutes of solid action with all the guys. I really hope Cena is the "random" person chosen to start with Punk, though.

I think it would've been a damn fine idea if it had a 30 minute time limit, for the record. It's not like they don't leave 15+ minutes at the end of the PPV for dead-air time, anyways.

And honestly, if CM Punk gets screwed, is that really such a bad thing? Would you rather him get beaten CLEANLY for the title? With no ifs, ands or buts about it? He can't hold the title forever. And I realize his reign hasn't been super long or anything and he hasn't been booked like Superman, but 3 months as Champion isn't a bad thing at all. They can't all be Cena's and Batista's, where they get these huge pushes to make them look unbeatable. A vulnerable Champion is new, hasn't really been done in a while. It's nice to see someone have to use their wits and cunning and youthful energy and such to win a match instead of Powerbombs and Spinebusters and FUs and that's all.

I'm a huge CM Punk fan, but it pains me when I see a bunch of people make comments "HE NEEDED HELP TO BEAT BATISTA!" "HE CAN'T EVEN BEAT JBL WITHOUT HELP!"

Guys, he's a NEW main eventer. The guys he's going up against, have all been around and established for ATLEAST 3 or so years. You cannot have a guy the size of Punk come in, and dominate everyone just because he's Champion. I realize he shouldn't get treated like shit and lose to everyone, but the fact of the matter is he is completely new to the main event scene. If he dominates here and loses the belt, where does he go? There's no story arc. No character development. He was at his best and still lost. Wrestling is fake, but you've got to atleast attempt to put some realism in it. This is a learning experience for Punk, and he's doing a great job with it. It's going to be good for him later, whenever he eventually loses the belt. He'll be more over, and since he's done such a solid job with the belt, he'll definitely get another run with it sometime down the road.

How is this more appealing than a good old fashion steel cage match between CM Punk and JBL to cap off their feud?

Posted By: Puff (Guest)  on August 20, 2008 at 10:27 PM

I'm really pumped up for Saturday Night at the Big Apple, but my Dad doesn't know it yet so shhhhh..... lol just playing. but yeah the card looks really good, the best msg house card i've seen in years. I think Jericho/Cena will tear the house down, Batista & Kane you know it's going to be a demoliton debry & the cage match for the world title I wouldn't mind seeing Punk giving JBL what's coming to him in person. I hate JBL I can't stand him.

Posted By: John (Guest)  on August 21, 2008 at 12:31 AM

Here's some fun facts going into this Saturday Night at MSG:

1. John Cena is undefeated against Chris Jericho

2. CM Punk will be the first world heavyweight champ to defend it in a steel cage.

all a time limit means on a main event that its gonna end with some sort of tie or overtime bringing on a sudden death fall.

Morishima 4 sure

this match is gonna suck big time new champ anyone

Posted By: Guest#0773 (Guest)  on August 21, 2008 at 06:59 AM

I would prefer everyone starts the match but the match doesn't seem too bad. I guess it matters how things play out.

Posted By: Colin (Guest)  on August 21, 2008 at 09:14 AM

man, you guys shit on EVERYTHING.

This is great:

#1- it gives Punk a title match without having to push someone else to the front of the line with only a couple weeks to go (no build).

#2- it lets Cena & Batista back into the main event without stripping Punk of the title OR giving away the rematch.

#3- Cena & Batista can continue their game of one upsmanship by conescutive pins on JBL & Kane, while punk is recovering outside the ring. And thus no matter who wins only Kane & JBL look like crap....

...and nothing of value is lost.

Triple H passes Flair for most world titles by winning and losing the WWE title 12x's in one night.
