More Details On John Cena's Future

When will Cena return?
As reported earlier, John Cena underwent neck surgery today. According to WWE.com, Cena is expected to be out for 2-4 months, less than what was originally feared. Cena didn't require fusion surgery and all that was done was a fragment from his spinal cord that was blocking a nerve was removed.
Dr. Joseph Maroon said the surgery went well and that Cena should be able to resume working out next week.
From WWE.com:
We performed a microsurgical removal of a large disk fragment compression on the spinal cord which was weakening the nerve leading to the right arm," Dr. Maroon told WWE.com shortly after the operation. "We created a small incision in the front of the neck, using an operating microscope, to remove the fragment from the spinal cord and nerve. The operation took approximately an hour and a half."
Dr. Maroon added, "I think John's prognosis is excellent. We performed this same procedure on three all-pro NFL players, and all three resumed their football careers."
WWE's Dr. Chris Amann, who was on site for Cena's surgery, agreed with Dr. Maroon's assessment on the Chain Gang Commander's successful procedure.
"The surgery went exactly as planned. There were no complications. What we saw in the MRI correlated with what we saw in his disk. Dr. Maroon was able to visualize the disk using a microscope. Right after Cena woke up from the surgery, he said that ‘the pain in his arm and shoulder was gone,'" Dr. Amann recalled.
"As far as what could've gone wrong during surgery is infection and not removing all the disk material. In Cena's case, everything went well," Dr. Armann added. "Dr. Maroon and I expect a full recovery. In a couple of weeks, he'll be able to start with leg cardio, and then resistance training in four to six weeks. The bone graft that was put into his neck needs to heal before he can see action."
Well that's good news. Hopefully he'll come back as healthy as ever.

2-4 months...if we calculate he estimated return date while factoring in his previously established "Super-Cena" recovery time....he'll be back next week!

DAMN! And here I thought I wouldn't have to see or hear that poser for at least a year to six months. Color me disappointed! :(
Posted By: Guest#6743 (Guest) on August 26, 2008 at 08:36 PM
I thought it was too soon in his career for his neck to be as shot as some other wrestlers.

we will see cena before rumble or at rumble or even way before that like november or december at new years rev.

John, I think 2-4 months just isn't a long enough amount of time to recover from such a major operation. You need anywhere from 6 months to a year off of my television to fully recuperate and come back strong. This is for your own health, buddy, I promise. Now go away.

Glad to hear Cena is ok - hope to see him back soon, but not so soon that he does not heal properly!

4 months is right around Royal Rumble time. don't do it again vince...it worked once, it won't work twice.
Posted By: Jordan (Guest) on August 26, 2008 at 09:06 PM
So I guess he'll be the surprise #30 entrant in the Royal Rumble again.

"And it couldn't have happened to a better wrestler..... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
And your death couldn't help but make the world a better place. So go play in traffic, idiot.

Cautious optimism. Hopefully the docs were well on top of their game and it really wasn't severe, and it all works out for the best...but the spectre of how Kurt Angle's neck surgery was completely undone in half a second still lingers, so whenever Cena does return, there'll probably be a good, long period of time when I'll cringe any time he takes any kind of shot to the back of the head.
Get well soon, John.

Pass the mic, This doctor says BASICALLY that he removed a LARGE piece of one of the disks in Cena's neck. While it isnt the dreaded "fusion" surgery, I would harbor a guess that THIS AINT EITHER!!
John needs to LEARN from Steve Austin, he is O to the V to the E to the R for piss sake. He can afford 6-8 months off. PLENTY of time to do a few WWE DVD films. Learn from Jericho!!! He's in ALOT better shape than most of HIS peers.

RAW re-enters its classic 'holding pattern'.

Add Edge to that list.
For those who STILL can't figure it out...
This shows what happens when the body (or you), fucks with the nervous system.
"removal of a large disk fragment compression on the spinal cord which was weakening the nerve leading to the right arm"
Me, and many of my veteran (military) suspected as much when Cena complained of losing strength, and pain in his right arm (yet seems to have no trouble moving).
He was lucky, still nerve damage ain't no joke. Still, he needs to take advantage of this, and take a well-earned vacation.
I know I would, hell even the Undertaker took a vacation!!!

Yeah, I really will never wish serious bodily harm on anyone, no matter how I despise the person. If Cena is seriously injured, I hope he gets better.
But think of it this way, we've got 2-4 months without one of the most boring "superstars" on our tv.
I am one of those people who would sit there, on my hands, with no reaction.
I'd rather Papa Shango and Nailz come back.
Cena, get well, seriously, but stay the fuck off my tv screen.
Man do I miss good wrestling.
These young kids have no idea how good wrestling was 10 years ago. I couldn't stop flipping back and forth between WWF and WCW, no matter if it was Thursday or Monday. Hell, in the beginning, HEAT was a good show. Where oh where did we go wrong...
Oh that's right, Vince knows what we want. Sorry, I forgot, I want boring crap that hasn't been interesting in over 5 years.
It's sad when Jericho/Michaels/Flair have been the most entertaining thing, well, I mean, ONLY entertaining thing...that's what's sad.
10 years ago...there wasn't a moment on WWF (e) or WCW that wasn't gold, well almost.
Now...I read results I can't even bear to watch them.

Completely agreed with.
I never wished the guy harm, but I must admit initially I was glad when I found out that he was going to be off TV for a while.
Then it struck me... who gives a shit when the PRODUCT ITSELF is stale. And no, that's not smarky-ness because I'm not into that, but there is NO-ONE that I like anymore:
Cena - annoying wigger
Batista - boring. Looks like you might see him in a gay bar
Kofi Kingston - who?
Undertaker - same old shit
HBK - always admired the guy but even with him it's the same old shit
HHH - can't buy him as legit when daddy and 'she who wears the pants' book him like they do
Jericho - wasted, should be in the title picture
Hardy - don't get emotionally invested because he's one spliff away from a pink slip
I still really think they dropped the ball with Christian Cage. The guy was over, was funny (but a great at being serious when needed) and could work a good match. But if course Vince knows what we want better than we do... I never thought I'd say this as a lifelong wrestling fan but fuck Vince!

Anybody who is upset that Cena isn't out longer because of this injury needs to grow the fuck up and get a life besides wrestling.
Seriously.

Cena neck injury was total different from Angle, so don't worry about the type of surgey he had.
