i'm not a big cena fan and all but for health concern reasons i hope that he doesn't rush the comeback.....i would hate to have watch his matches like i watch kurt angle's matches, cringing at every fall he takes.

Son of a bitch. Vince is gonna get this guy either killed or crippled.

Good thing the injury wasn't too serious and hopefully this time WWE can wait a while before he really is suppose to return

the rematch will be big!

At least Benoit, Angle, Edge and others went through TLC, jumps from tops of cages, etc.
Cena is garbage wrapped in skin.

Now dear friends, John Cena IS a physical specimen of strength and endurance. I have NO doubt that with anti-steroidal medicinal assistance and careful but intense rehab John WOULD make a LEGIT full recovery in 6 months MINIMUM.
All Im saying is....Vince gave Johnny a WHOLE book full of "Get Out Of Wellness Free" cards if he's coming back in THREE!

Cena will be back in a month. Whenever you get an projected injury miss time with Cena you have to cut it in half.

I wish no injury upon any good person ..
However, I find Cena boring in the ring, marginal on the mic ... perhaps this new injury will get Vince to finally stop pushing Cena's non-talent ass on all of us.

Get well soon Cena,
We can't see you for 3 months

"All Im saying is....Vince gave Johnny a WHOLE book full of "Get Out Of Wellness Free" cards if he's coming back in THREE"
? lol..
3 months is plenty of time for
this type of operation given the
physical condition he was already in prior to the injury.
personality plays a big part in things as well..
everyone keeps talking how Cena is heading down the same path as Austin and Angle..
but both of them had very different paths.
Austin was dropped on his head..
a situation he did nothing to provoke.
he had the fusion.. but in the end
his neck remained bad enough where
he did walk away.
(the 2002 "vs brock" situation)
he knew it was time and walked.
Angle on the other hand,
broke his neck before he even got to wwe
and had been proud of the fact that he risked his life for a sport.
and then he did it again.. (no way out 2003 time line)
and then again.. (brock steel chair)
and again.. (current)
he doesn't know when to quit.
and i may have missed an "again" in there somewhere.
With cena.. its a lot different.
this isn't due to due a pile driver
that damaged his spinal cord forever..
this isn't due to seeing a chiropractor with a broken neck and getting hurt worse..
this is a late 20's year old man,
who took a bump the wrong way..
a bit too hard and they've corrected this (hopefully) "one off" situation.
this operation, although somewhat rare and unique when Kurt had it done 5 years ago has become a fair bit more accepted now and -really- is a lot less dangerous then the other ways he could be "fixed"
what is better..
removing a chipped tooth,
or fusing it together with its neighbor ?
if that sounds like a silly question,
picture that for your neck..
..i don't see a wellness issue coming in to play here.
what i think people are forgetting,
is that =in theory= wellness is supposed to "protect the wrestlers from themselves"
if Cena uses roids due to this injury,
as far as -i- understand it he'd be allowed to "fail" a screening because its with a doctors note for (now) well known injury.
as long as the levels would continue to drop OR he has a continuing perscription and is continuing to heal the injury,
wellness doesn't apply.
(i admit, i could be a bit off on my understanding of the wellness policy with the 2002323 revisions theres been :P)

The "Batista hurt him at SummerSlam" deal is clearly a work and a simple way to explain his injury on TV. Sure, he COULD have hurt his neck somewhat off the power bomb spot, but, if he had really hurt it to the level they are making it out to be, he would have called an audible mid-match and ended it. HE WOULD HAVE NOT TAKEN ANOTHER POWER BOMB.
It's the exact same deal they did with Benoit in the summer of 2001 when he hurt his neck and they showed the clip of him giving Jericho a back suplex from the top rope as if that was the entire injury. It had nothing to do with the ridiculous amount of suplexes and headbutts he had done right before that in matches against Austin and Angle. Yeah.
Think.

Damn DumDum, that was well put. That line about the tooth? My doctor used it when listing the options I had available when that drunk hit me head on....
You know, with all the wrestlers who's been down this road, 411 needs to do a roundtable on this topic, or Larry can do an essay of the week...
Fellow members of the IWC, whatdaya think?

When I first glanced at the title, I thought it said WWE release Cena.

see what they should do is have cena return around the royal rumble/no way out timeframe so they can build a mega feud for wrestlemania....the building blocks are all there due to the injury and it would make one hell of a grudge match...
cena could be all pissed that he was made to sit out for 6 months (yes i did say 6) and BOOM!!!! insta feud!
EPIC WIN!

I knew that he'll be back before the Royal Rumble

@Guest#5819
..In sighting benoit though your sighting a situation where if my memory serves it, it was bone spurs and "over time" damage..
i agree, that wwe's representation of how his injury happened was misleading..
but also.. in some cases it has to be.
(just to relate to the average fan)
benoits injury was over time..
Austins was an instant sorta situation
and his compressed the spinal cord,
so the effects were instant and major.
(that weak ass roll up on owen..)
Angle.. his major injury in 2003 if i remember correctly happened at a house show, so we really have no idea exactly what did transpire..
but, he was on the run of a life time with the belt and having "muscled through" one broken neck.. he naturally thought "ok.. i can do it again"
(his flaw being that he keeps thinking that, break after break)
With Cena, it was very likely his first broken neck.. lol.
so its a new type of pain..
its a new type of discomfort.
in all odds, even with the level of damage he had, he had no idea how bad it was..
with some broken bones,
you can break them.. and not -really- know for sure until days later..
many times an event which causes a break can happen.. you think "wow.. " and you keep going.. you think "gee.. i got lucky that wasn't worse"
and its only as the days go on that you realize.. "ok.. i wasn't as lucky as i thought"
there -may- not have even been any serious pain for days..
it only comes to light as other symptoms come to pass (such as the loss of strength)
I've broken -many- bones..
and its very, very possible to keep going even after what sounds like "duhhh !" injury's.. lol.
I broke my neck around 2003 / 2004 and all i felt was a stiff neck and some head aches for a week or three..
headaches are nothing new for me..
and a stiff neck ? whoopy doo !
i didn't know until last year that i had actually broken it.. until i was getting my back checked out and the x-ray tech
said "hey... ya know ya broke your neck at some point.. right ?"
so it is very possible to finish the match and go for days.
@BKeeper : thank ya :)
and i agree..
a round table may be of use.

Why the fuck is Cena's name trademarked?
Posted By: Calobar (Guest) on August 27, 2008 at 06:13 AM
Guest #5819, that's what i've been saying. Granted he may have hurt it against Batista, but who's to say this didn't happen against Simply Priceless the next night?
Because it wouldn't make for a good story that's why. At least this way they can build up a storyline of Cena wanting a piece of Batista for putting him out. By that time Orton will be back and they can build toward a three-way feud without Batista or Cena turning heel.
It's the perfect setup by the WWE!

I have absolutely no doubt that cena is juiced to the gills, but i don't care. i'm a big cena fan. he knows how to work big matches. he has great feel for a big match. glad to see he isnt seriously injured.

Cena's returning in 3 months?! Why doesn't Vince just bring him back this Monday night?! God knows all the kiddies will freak out over that. I mean, that's what Vince is trying to do, right? Win the kids over, despite the fact his boys are riding to "borrowed" time. Real smart, Vince. Bring him back in 3 months time, and let him re-injure himself. You want that much blood on your hands, you dick?!
