WWE News: Taker’s Streak, Cena’s Surgery, Heat on MVP and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.09.2008

- There has been talk again of the Undertaker ending his WrestleMania streak. Many feel that it would never happen, but Vince McMahon is not opposed to it. But with the Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley situations, they feel that it would have to be a "sure thing" that defeats Taker, not a "maybe" guy. Talk right now centers around Ted DiBiase Jr. Nothing would be in the works for this year's WrestleMania, but there could be a long term angle bringing up that Ted's father in storyline introduced Undertaker to WWF.

- The reason that John Cena was able to have such minimally invasive surgery is because he noticed the symptoms of strength loss very early and got examined by the doctor. Steve Austin, Edge and others that ended up with the fusion surgery ignored symptoms and tried to "work through" the injury.

- MVP has some heat on him as of late due to an issue with a drug testing monitor. The monitors have to watch the performers urinate, and the wrestlers have to be naked from "the nipples down" to avoid people trying to get past the test. MVP apparently asked the monitor if he graduated from college, he answered yes and MVP said something to the effect of, "you went to school for four years to watch people's dicks." The monitor complained to John Laurinaitis and Bruce Prichard, who then had a talk with the wrestlers to tell them not to harass the monitors doing their job. It was after this that management started to come down on MVP and started to claim that he couldn't work. This came after he got a very good match out of Festus.

- The shows in Wilkes-Barre and Pittsburgh were far more organized and less stressful than the shows in Chicago and Moline the week before, and Vince McMahon was in a much better mood because of that.

- Joey Matthews is not taking any Independent bookings after December, so he either has a deal to come in with Christian York or at the very least thinks he does.

Pretty stupid reason to get down on MVP. I'm not a big MVP fan, but a funny comment to a thin-skinned piss monitor should get no more than a 'don't do that again, thx,' not ideas that he can't wrestle.

FUCK THAT SHIT!!! AIN'T NO WAY THE UNDERTAKER WILL LOSE IN A WRESTLEMANIA MATCH!!!

"It was after this that management started to come down on MVP and started to claim that he couldn't work."

That's even funnier since Orton, Jeff, Batista and JBL are all in main events and MVP's worlds ahead of those guys.

Didn't Jim Ross already call BS on that MVP story and wasn't it posted on here?

As much as some hate it, looks like Cena's smarter than a lot of guys in the business who screwed up their necks.

If the piss monitor is unhappy with his job I'm sure Pat Patterson would be happy to volunteer

I'd prefer "talk" of Undertaker pissing off for good, he's basically moving in slo-mo at this point.

MVP is in no way a better worker than Orton or Hardy.

to the guy who's comment, said " No way Undertaker will lose in a WM match!!" you still think anything is sacred in pro wrestling? to Vince McMahon? ahahaha

Oh, get off it. MVP cuts a decent promo, I'll give him that. Great on the stick. But sorry to soften your hard-on pal, but MVP's in-ring work is passable.

But at that level, in the WWE, you shouldn't have passable matches. And I'm being nice. Because personally I think he sucks. But I'm trying to be fair and not show any bias. Promo skills, good. In-ring, not so good. He's "worlds" ahead of nobody.

Posted By: "How 'bout, no Scott?" (Guest)  on September 09, 2008 at 01:20 AM

No. Just no. Ted DiBiase is not the guy to go over Taker. He's not the next Orton. He's not a sure thing when it comes to making money, etc. and even in Taker's old age, I wouldn't buy DiBiase going over him. I could car less if Taker loses, but freakin' make it to someone who matters.

If WWE really wanted to do it, they probably should've done Edge or Orton.

And for the amount of heat, I'd get... if I had to pick a guy, it would be Cena. One of the first guys Cena wrestled was Taker and the program hasn't been done. Cena is an out and out company man, has the "overcoming the odds" gimmick which would work well with a feud with Taker... and people would actually pay to see him vs. Taker... and the heat he'd get over a win in Houston would be insane.

That was hilarious

Ain't no way in hell I will ever watch WWE again if Taker ends his streak. I don't care if its to Carlos Mencia, Dave Chappelle, Tommy Lee Jones, Batman, a deceased Heath Ledger(Awesome Joker), or to Vince McMahon himself and especially not some stuck up nipple sucker like Dibiase Jr. No one wants to wear a shirt that says Undertaker 18-1 @ WM.

Speaking of nipples imagine being the piss monitor for Mickie James or someone!

it makes perfect sense to have dibiase jr to beat taker. it is very unlikely that he'll quit to go to the nfl or mma.

MVP can't work?? Bullshit, like Scott said he's miles ahead of alot of so-called Main Eventers, hell If I was booking Unforgiven I'd have had MVP fluke a win then have Trip's chase him 'til Survivor Series. Smackdown is in dire need of top guy's (especially heels) Show's tied up w/ Taker for the forseeable future and who knows when Edge is gonna be back and if he's gonna join Big Show or chase the belt.

As far as The Deadman's Mania streak goes I think it should stay intact. He's been a company guy for almost 18 years, could have easily jumped to WcW in the mid 90's for a big money deal or demanded more title runs but he's stayed loyal and helped elevate/solidify alot of top guys (HBK, Austin, Rock, Foley, Angle & Brock to name just a few). The streak is a major part of his legecy in the business and should stay intact IMO

I don't get this company. You'd have to be BLIND not to see that Cody Rhodes is better in every aspect of the business. Cody can talk circles around almost everybody on the roster right now. Dibiase is just another bland schmuck like Kenny Dykstra and Lance Cade.

how many times do we need to have that MVP story, for F*** SAKE! and as "news"? look up the definition of that word or better yet, READ THIS SITE,IT HAS BEEN COVERED!
...that said, the monitor is doing the job he is paid by the WWE wellness program to do, and has the right to expect a safe working environment, and it is the responsibility of the WWE to provide. What MVP (and the locker room) may have thought funny at the moment, has all the potential for a lawsuit, if allowed to go on. So the WWE nipping it in the bud is right. The burying of MVP as "not delivering" is another thing.

Whats with the Festus diss? He has had good solo matches with MVP, Undertaker, and Koslov. You people are prejudice against 'tards..

Please don't end Taker's streak. It's one of those few things from better older times that still seem actually significant.

"MVP is in no way a better worker than Orton or Hardy."

Some of the younger, less educated members of the IWC equate mic skills with work rate.

that is why so many people jizz their pants over Kennedy.

I don't care how long it takes or how good he gets, Ted DiBiase Jr. will NEVER be worthy of taking Undertaker's WrestleMania streak

Joey Matthews and Christian York together signals that the Fed is going to go out of business soon. They tagged in ECW right before it went under and also the same in WCW. Weird isnt it?

If somebody ends the Undertaker's gimmick it should be someone like Cena, Batista or Edge, I think they have become the new age Michaels, HHH, Jericho (you catch the drift, of the WWE

MVP lol that was funny, but yeah make comments like that and people will get all suspicious about you! so funny but dumb!!

Going over Taker at Mania? It's got to be Orton. The run is legendary. He's the Legend Killer. End of debate surely?

Or Candice Michelle. I'd mark for her ending his streak.

Posted By: Bored Weegie (Guest)  on September 09, 2008 at 07:36 AM

If Orton the legend Killer didn't get the nod to end the streak, Diabase will not cut the mustard.

---------------------------------------
Yeah, some do, but Kennedy is actually a good worker when he works as a heel. He usually picks a part of the body and works it over the entire match and stays within the concept of the match.

MVP has his own style. I think he is a great worker on and off the mic and IS better than most. I know he doesn't do a lot of "flippy moves" like you guys like or he didn't have the benefit of wrestling back in the day so that people can say that he was actually better than he actually was (Flair, Race, Rock n Roll Express..these guys weren't THAT good)....so fuck the IWC with that said...MVP for WWE Champ in 09. Its a fuckin' shame that if you WATCH a HHH match against ANY of those guys, that its obvious that HHH is getting old and can't hang anymore in the ring with the Sheltons, Kendricks, Hardys...thats why he came in 5th..

Posted By: Industry (Guest)  on September 09, 2008 at 08:36 AM

Hardy,JBL and Orton are all good performers but Batista is terribly overrated. MVP is gold and earned his pops based on his talent and not a rub from Flair and HHH.
Its obvious they don't have faith in him because he can't seem to win a championship match anymore.Booo to Batista and his bad dress code.

The best thing about a Batista match is his entrance

"Some of the younger, less educated members of the IWC equate mic skills with work rate."

This isn't amateur wrestling. You have to make people care about the match. Chris Jericho is sloppy as hell in the ring. He misses either the lionsault or the slingshot dropkick in every match he does, but he makes you care by his promos. The IWC went ga ga over him winning the title. You want to see him get his ass kicked or kick someone elses ass. So all you cool guys on here that talk about "workrate" can continue to worship at the alter of Dean Malenko and keep posting about Ring Of Honor being superior to WWE. Vince will continue to push the guys that can work a crowd and count his money.

Cena's a smart man.... (now if more wrestlers would do what he did when they're injured...)

Undertaker streak ended by Ted Jr?

Um... No. There are better talent who could use THAT rub (Orton, Edge, Jericho), or deserve it (Cena, HBK). Out of the young'uns, Shelton, the Hardys, CM Punk, cody, Kendrick, etc, NOT Ted Jr.

Why Ted Dibasie, the guy hasn't wrestled a Singles match on TV it would take a lot of build up to make him seem like a one on one threat to anybody let alone Taker.

if any of the new breed deserves that win, how bout Cody. He's the workhorse of the group.

What MVP sais to the monitor, I would've said the exact same thing. He wasn't harassing the monitor. If the monitor can't handle the truth, then that's his own hang up. Then the monitor went and tattle telled on MVP. Laurinaitis and Pritchard having a talk with MVP about him speaking the truth is basically shooting the messenger. What kind of a guy would volunteer to watch guys pee anyway? Freak.

I really don't know what the "IWC" is anymore. A lot more Internet wrestling fans claim to hate it and act like it's the Taliban than actually associate themselves with that term. I think maybe you're only in the IWC if you have the audacity to disagree with the person using that term.

And yes, I'm going to keep bringing up this argument until people around here realize how stupidly they are using the word "IWC."

I'd love to see AJ Styles come to wwe, beat the old hippie at wrestlemania for one of their 123131345446 world titles, then quit the company, dump the belt in the toilet, and bring it up in EVERY one of his promos, and laugh. and the interviewers would be laughing too! that would be the coolest.

Making unnecessary, crude remarks to someone who is just doing their job without doing anything wrong IS harassing them. And don't doctors usually do jobs like this? It's not like it's some random guy off the street.
