DAMNIT! That was gonna be an awesome set! I really do hate Vince McMahon! He really knows nothing about business or supply/demand.

That sucks! I was looking forward to the Starrcade DVD.

Good idea, with no Flair to give commentary, then there would be nobody to give a legit opinion on the WCW days.

Posted By: Nort (Guest)  on September 12, 2008 at 08:34 PM

BOOOOOO!! Well, at least I think in November or December it's Starrcade month on 24/7. I remember them putting a poll so you could vote for your favorite matches.

Kane over Starrcade...

*facepalm.jpg*

Posted By: Maffew (Guest)  on September 12, 2008 at 08:45 PM

What a crock of garbage. Is WWE going anti-Flair now? Because it sure sounds like it.

Starrcade DVD would have made them money, therefore I ask all fans who aren't marks to boycott the Kane DVD.

What the fuck?!?! How much more do they need to do to bury the NWA/WCW? This is absolute bullshit.

Posted By: chucky (Guest)  on September 12, 2008 at 08:45 PM

Wow... I'd much rather see a DVD about Katie Vick and May 19th than a DVD about one of the most important shows in the history of wrestling.

FUCK!!!! That Kane DVD better be kayfabe... It'll be too funny with the story they come up with...ie - interviewing a neighboorhood kid Kane burned 30 years ago...

Posted By: Brendan Chicago (Guest)  on September 12, 2008 at 08:49 PM

Hot digity damn, a Kane DVD!

Seriously, I'm probably one of the few fans out there that appreciates his work.

Posted By: ThatNickGuy (Guest)  on September 12, 2008 at 08:59 PM

I'm willing to wager the expenses of putting it together was the reason, but I feel fans will indeed be missing out on this cancellation.

Posted By: Lonestarr022 (Registered)  on September 12, 2008 at 09:01 PM

Id rather see this then the Kane or HITC DVD. Is it too early for the epic jeers of the week?

Posted By: Jboy1307 (Guest)  on September 12, 2008 at 09:03 PM

Dear WWE,

Please, please, oh please do get a clue. A Starcade dvd is what the fans want, not one about Kane. What were you thinking?

Sincerely,

Your mark,

Chico

everyone needs to post feedback to the WWE in thier feedback spot. get enough people bitching about it and they may think twice.

Nothing to do with Flair no longer being part of the WWE product or anything... Lol. Vince really has a stick up his arse these days doesn't he.

Posted By: five star (Guest) on September 12, 2008 at 08:33 PM

Good Point TNA isn't even that stupid! What's next Vince, going to cancel a WCW NWO DVD for a 3 disc History of Jim Ross. I can see it now. "From his days in WCW to his epic ass kicking by Triple H, to getting stunned by Stone Cold Steve Austin, now to your livingrooms is the History of JR."

So Vince my advise to you is keep reminding people that you have the most overrated product none the less sucessful product in the business so your fans will constantly search for alternative solutions!

Yet...10 years ago this same guy was setting at home praising Vince for the attitude era...lol

I am saddened by the cancellation as well, but I am sure they had their reasons. I say give it time and it will happen. Fans just need to continually speak out and email the WWE.

Guess they didn't want their die hard fans to see how bad WCW was outdoing them back then

Vince McMahon and his minions are doing everything in their power to keep every other wrestling promotion that ever existed from being appreciated by a new audience. WCW and ECW getting the worst of this treatment, of course.

Quit whining. Why in my day we didn't even have DVD. Just VHS. But we put up with that shit so you kids could go balistic about not getting your WrestleManee DVD's? That's bull.

Vince McMahon will die alone and by the way Wrestlemania's 18-24 have all sucked the big meat missle. I could book a better card than the crap he spews. Also the Brand Split has sucked since day one.

Great, first he pulls Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior from the Legends of Wrestlemania game and also canceling the Macho Madness DVD and now this. Well hopefully once Vince kicks the bucket for good we can finally get our WCW and Randy Savage DVDS. Seriously who the hell wants a Kane DVD?

any one consider that there may be legal reasons for this?

how utter infantile to just assume that it was cancelled on a whim, especially with a release date on the horizon.

time to cut the umbilical cords, people and learn cognative reasoning.

"Vince McMahon and his minions are doing everything in their power to keep every other wrestling promotion that ever existed from being appreciated by a new audience. WCW and ECW getting the worst of this treatment, of course.

Posted By: Shiksa With Chutzpah"

You're right, because WCW and ECW both did so much to spread appreciation of other promotions. The 1996 ECW invasion angle on Raw is the only real example of one major wrestling company showing appreciation to another American promotion that I can think of. To their credit, TNA showed a lot of respect of NJPW in their Global Impact special. But to the point, Vince is no different than any other promoter. If you think that either Eric Bischoff or Paul Heyman would have paid high respects to their fallen competitors if they had come out on top you're kidding yourself.

Why do people keep questioning the potential legal aspects of a Starrcade DVD set? WWE owns all of WCW's footage. They certainly have no problem showing it on WWE 24/7. There's no reason why the set could not be released that I can think of.

Posted By: Steve307 (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 12:11 AM

wow, a Kane DVD. What will the highlights of that gem be....

disc 1: Kanes epic 1 day title reign

disc 2: Kane fueds with the undertaker

disc 3: Kanes fueds with the undertaker... again

A deleted scences section will include.. Kane's slow ring entrance, Kane lusting over Katie Vick and finally, Kane on how he's never been injured.

My gosh, I didnt think the WWE could do anything worse than making CM Punk champion and then they go and make a Kane DVD>

It boggles the mind to see this crap.

the 3 disc kane set should be an epic set of glen jacobs

disc one: Dr. Issac Yankem DDS
disc two: Fake Diesel
disc three: Kane's one day reign and Katie Vick

I like Kane, but why did they have to cancel the Starcade dvd? Just another move of foolish pride; bad business move if it really IS "all about the money"...not to mention the lack of respect for the history involved even if it was the competition...Cocky idiots...No disrespect for Kane though

Posted By: jay (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 01:51 AM

Kane was cool, until he took off his mask. I could understand cancelling the Starcade for a bio set, if it was for someone worth doing. Since
I'm not a mark, I would much rather see a three disc set on people more derserving like Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, Andre The Giant, hell anybody over Kane. It would be nice to have more classic stuff on the market instead of things for the 12-17 age group. Let's see more of the things that made wrestling great, with the superstars that helped pave the way for today's current talent.

Posted By: jlucci (Registered)  on September 13, 2008 at 01:59 AM

...and they must really think more people will buy 24/7 to see the starcade classics , thus making more money than the dvd's... doubt it...arrogant assholes, unless I'm proven wrong

Posted By: jay (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 02:01 AM

This is a really sellout Corporate decision by WWE. They own the rights to all WCW PPVs, videos and memorabilla - why not sell a "Best of Starcade" dvd and make some money off it?

What a bunch of Vince McMahon ass-kissing wusses!!!

Posted By: onephatdude (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 03:51 AM

I'm kind of tired of every wwe superstar getting a dvd of their own. its one thing for retired guys to get a retrospective set, but dvds like this kane one are just retarded. and now they are being put out at the expense of more worthy dvds that have both variety and history going for them. Fuck Vince. Fuck him in his stupid asshole.

Posted By: guest (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 03:52 AM

"Why do people keep questioning the potential legal aspects of a Starrcade DVD set? WWE owns all of WCW's footage. They certainly have no problem showing it on WWE 24/7. There's no reason why the set could not be released that I can think of."

it is called residuals. just because they own the footage doesn't mean they can show it without an agreement in place to use the footage of the people in it. in the case of those who are currently signed with the WWE, that is an easy thing to deal with, but look at the overdubbing of Jessie Ventura whenever and where ever they could.

they may not want or may not have been able to reach an agreement with someone like Sting, for example or the estate of a now deceased wrestler, and that alone is enough to stop the release.

I hope they have the best of Kane bloopers like when his pyro doesn't go off or how about when Kane slips from the top rope during 2003's Summerslam match with RVD?

Posted By: Brando (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 04:32 AM

"is anyone left from WCW anyways?"

Finlay, Gregory Helms, Chuck Palumbo, Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang, and Chavo Guerrero were all there until the end, Chris Jericho, Ron Simmons, Big Show, Jim Ross, Jim Duggan, Steve Austin and William Regal all had pretty lengthy runs - although Regal doesn't remember all of it, and Triple H had a short run there. There's also Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson, Dusty Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat who are agents now, but wrestled for WCW, and Vickie Guerrero who never worked for them, but will have some stories about Eddie's time there.

Oh, and they're still on speaking terms with Bischoff, who'd happily come in to tell everyone that WCW's failure was IN NO WAY his fault. Hogan would probably do the same.

So, in conclusion, there's plenty of people in WWE now who worked for WCW back when it was running and could contribute to a DVD about it.

Posted By: BringTheNoise (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 04:45 AM

WWE has brought the video libraries of other feds so they can bury them away from those who want to watch - on the plus side they'll make it up to you by releasing countless Triple H and John Cena DVD's in the future.

I doubt this will ever change whilst Vince McMahon and his crony family are alive/in control of the WWE.

Posted By: JAK (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 05:02 AM

This really sucks, i like Kane but how the hell do you fill 3 discs? you can hardly get 2 filled with good stuff.

The Starrcade dvd has so many good-great matches to choose from, Vince sucks sometimes.

Posted By: jbardo (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 05:57 AM

WTF? Yeah I'm sure a big, slow, lumbering terd has better matches to choose from than 19 years of WCW.

Kane's DVD Listing:

vs Austin (WWE Title)
vs HHH (Chain Match)

erm...

That's it.

Posted By: Guest#0573 (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 09:13 AM

Wow. All the dvds they had scheduled the only good ones they canceled. No Sting, No Macho Man and now No Starrcade. Another Kane one though.. considering he hasnt done anything of interest since the attitude era, this should suck.

Posted By: Champ (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 09:46 AM

Here's what a lot of people don't understand: the WWE fears that if you do order this DVD, then you'll be exposed to REAL wrestling, and not the garbage you see on WWE.

Ergo, real wrestling fans (ie, everyone who's not The Rev or Darth Mortis) will demand that WWE put on the same wrestling that NWA once did. As a result today's "WWE superstars" will be exposed as overhyped hacks who just live off pyros and cool theme music and lack any real skills.

As a result more fans will flock to TNA where they have actual talented wrestlers who display their skills.

So you see people it's not burying the promotion, it's actual fear that prevents Vince from releasing the DVDs.

Besides, who wouldn't want to see the real story behind the Katie Vick angle?

Posted By: Orlando (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 10:25 AM

I know the E owns the footage from the days after WCW was bought by Ted and left the NWA.

However, There was a WCW classic show that came on Turner South after Ted sold WCW to Vince so there is a chance that the E does not own the footage from when WCW was a firm member of the NWA.

Remember Starcade was more than just an WCW show in the beginning. It showcased talent from across the NWA.

I am sad they canceled the Starcade dvd,but I like Kane and, depending on the match selection, will probally buy the dvd.

Hopefully,we will eventually get the dvd we want.

Posted By: NWA Mark (Guest)  on September 13, 2008 at 10:26 AM

Excuse me.If Vince has bought the libraries of other promotions to keep us from watching their stuff then why release the WCCW stuff? Why show it on WWE 24/&.

People, get over yourselves.Vince's evil genius vibe is a work.He is first and foremost a buissness man and WWE is a publicly held company. The board would not let him bury his competition's matches just to soothe his ego.Hell,if he lets his ego get in the way of profit too much,he can be voted out.It would be hard because his family owns enough stock to keep in firm control of the corp, but it it is not out of the realm of possibility.

Despite what you see on TV Vince is not a dictator over the E.He has folks he has to answer to just like any CEO.

"WWE has brought the video libraries of other feds so they can bury them away from those who want to watch"

which is why so much of it ends up WWE 24/7. you really should stop drinking the koolaide and start thinking for yourself sometime.

hehehe...late friday and overnight the IWC was in an uproar...by 6 am, no one cared...

sounds about right, only IWC'ers could give that big of a crap about something so unimportant as a Starrcade DVD that they would be up at 4 am bitching about it..."I can't sleep, Vince infuriates me!!!" hehehe

Okay, who said they canceled it? Maybe it's just been postponed? And for whoever said they WWE is "going anti-Flair", get a fucking grip! They're devoting the month on WWE 24/7 to Flair for fuck's sake!

Of course they're going to pick on of their longest-tenured wrestlers over WCW. Anybody who thought differently is a dumbass!

"they may not want or may not have been able to reach an agreement with someone like Sting, for example or the estate of a now deceased wrestler, and that alone is enough to stop the release."

If that were true, then how did I just watch Superbrawl VI on WWE 24/7, featuring Woman, Elizabeth, Road Warrior Hawk, Sting, Macho Man, etc.? So I believe you're wrong on that count. Vince owns the footage. He can do whatever he wants with it.

McMahon will never admit how much better the NWA product was than the WWF in the 80's. Kane is a top guy in the WWF/E much like Valentine, Santana, Orndorff, Muraco, Snuka. Guys that were top there and not worth a shit anywhere else.

EPIC BULLSHIT! Shit like this is why I don't buy WWE DVD's or PPV's anymore

"Here's what a lot of people don't understand: the WWE fears that if you do order this DVD, then you'll be exposed to REAL wrestling, and not the garbage you see on WWE.

Never mind that they show classic stuff on 24/7 and on certain other DVD releases. And why would they flock to TNA? You're telling me TNA provides exactly what people are going to see in NWA releases? And I don't believe they're picking Kane over Starrcade. Kane's DVD was set to release regardless.

Man this is bull !! Who gives a crap about a damn Kane DVD, I sure don't. There's plenty of good matches they could have had on the set. Also repsonding to TNAFanBoy or whatever. TNA is actually worse than WWE to be honest. Gimmick match here, gimmick match there. No smart booking choices and the wrestling isn't honestly as good as yall claim it is. Get your head out of TNA's ass. ROH is where it's at baby. Hardly any dumb booking choices and tons of great wrestling.

Anyways, this is bull man. I was looking forward to this DVD !!

"I know the E owns the footage from the days after WCW was bought by Ted and left the NWA.

However, There was a WCW classic show that came on Turner South after Ted sold WCW to Vince so there is a chance that the E does not own the footage from when WCW was a firm member of the NWA.

Remember Starcade was more than just an WCW show in the beginning. It showcased talent from across the NWA."

There was no WCW until 1988. There was a SHOW called World Championship Wrestling but not a company called that. Starrcade was a NWA show period.

They've released three matches from the first Starrcade and at least one or two from '85 on other sets. I don't think there's any problem with the rights to those pre-Turner/WCW shows.

It's not like they probly hadn't been planning the Kane dvd for awhile anyways. They probly just ran into some problems and just needed to hold off the starcade dvd longer, may till when Sting isn't under contract or some others so they can offer their perspectives too.
Besides, Kane is around and wrestling now while Starcade is in the past and probly will never happen again. So why not save it for a special occasion and put more effort into making a great starcade dvd later on?

Kane has had a better career than some of you are giving him credit for and is still one of the best characters in the wwe. He may not have been on the same level as Rock or Austin, but he was right up in the main event with them alot. He's been a part of many great storylines and a few badones and some great promos.
He has been one of their most loyal and hard working wrestlers too, so I say bring on the Kane dvd.

ECW = FMW ripoff that just happened to get popular in the states because FMW wasn't shown on TV in the US during the early to mid 1990's. Just to clear that up (again)

Far as this goes? BULLSHIT. WWE: If It Didn't Happen Here, It Didn't Happen Period! Just another move to put over the generic, mediocre product of today over the older era when people actually wrestled and threw realistic punches.

Maybe you should take your own advice Darth Mortis instead of blindly kissing Vince's ass.

I would just like to remark on a few comments i had read. To those who believe WWE cannot sell a Starcade DVD do to legal rights is not correct. If this were the case, then anything profitable from Starcade (including WWE 24/7) would have to be discluded (which obviously it's not).

Also, to the person saying Vince McMahon can be voted off the board of Directors is also false. Vince owns 75% share in WWE. The other board members equal up the other 25% total. In other words, Vince has final say so. The rest of the board are really there for nothing more then advising. Vince would have to sell shares to lose control over the company.

And no, TNA is certainly not a solution from bad WWE decisions. As much as i hoped for an alternative, TNA has horrible booking and even worse writing.

As for the topic at hand, the Kane DVD. It costs them hardly anything to release these DVD's. Mixing up their own footage and having a few people sit in a studio to talk about it. If they feel a few Kane fans will bite, then so be it. I'm sure if anything, they just ran into setbacks on creating the Best of Starcade. Certain interviewers they wanted etc. Who knows, they may be delaying the release to perfect the DVD set.

Dear Five star, out of all the descions in 100+ year history of wrestling, and WWE canceling a DVD is the worst thing to ever happen in wrestling. David Arquette Becoming world Champion, Finger Poke of Death, ECW Crucifixion, Screw Job in Montreal, ROH Rape angle and not coming out with the Starrcade DVD is the worst, wow you should fuck a bag of sheep shit.

Undertaker sent Edge to hell and sadly, Kane did the same to the StarrCade DVD

"Maybe you should take your own advice Darth Mortis instead of blindly kissing Vince's ass."

i suppose that, since i posted an opinion based on fact and supposition, and (unlike you) not based on your irrational hatred of the WWE how you could see how i was 'kissing vince's ass.'

and as i am sure that you feel that you have impressed the other 11 year old's by saying 'ass' perhaps you can actually try to refute my argument instead of restorting to ad hominem.

don't worry...i will wait whilst you go and get your mommy to explain what ad hominem means.

Kane > Starrcade?

You mean Kane has fans? This guy is one of the most overrated jabroni's of our time. What are they going to have the Rock in it making fun of Kane. WWE is truly missing the boat on this one. Once again I guess Vince thinks he is either too good, or it was something he didn't come up with so why put it out there and see how powerful of an idea and what type of fanbase the NWA had in its hey day. I am really starting to get sick of all this and see wrestling starting into another recession, if it's not already there. Come on Vince do the right thing, put out the DVD. I mean you have many of the standouts from that era, and besides you hook old Naitch up with those 10G's he is supposedely getting for each appearance, sure that would lure him into doing some commentary for the DVD. I meant hink of some of the Great Classics, from Flair vs Race, Flair vs Rhodes, Road Warriors vs Midnight Express, the Andersons vs Rock and Roll Express. Us die hard purists are aching for something like this. Once again the rug is swept out from under us, for some midcard jabroni who will never amount to much. Thanks Vince. Will make sure I put the Kane DVD on my list as something for my library, wait NOT. OUT
