Good Point TNA isn't even that stupid! What's next Vince, going to cancel a WCW NWO DVD for a 3 disc History of Jim Ross. I can see it now. "From his days in WCW to his epic ass kicking by Triple H, to getting stunned by Stone Cold Steve Austin, now to your livingrooms is the History of JR."
So Vince my advise to you is keep reminding people that you have the most overrated product none the less sucessful product in the business so your fans will constantly search for alternative solutions!

Vince McMahon and his minions are doing everything in their power to keep every other wrestling promotion that ever existed from being appreciated by a new audience. WCW and ECW getting the worst of this treatment, of course.

You're right, because WCW and ECW both did so much to spread appreciation of other promotions. The 1996 ECW invasion angle on Raw is the only real example of one major wrestling company showing appreciation to another American promotion that I can think of. To their credit, TNA showed a lot of respect of NJPW in their Global Impact special. But to the point, Vince is no different than any other promoter. If you think that either Eric Bischoff or Paul Heyman would have paid high respects to their fallen competitors if they had come out on top you're kidding yourself.

Why do people keep questioning the potential legal aspects of a Starrcade DVD set? WWE owns all of WCW's footage. They certainly have no problem showing it on WWE 24/7. There's no reason why the set could not be released that I can think of.

Kane was cool, until he took off his mask. I could understand cancelling the Starcade for a bio set, if it was for someone worth doing. Since
I'm not a mark, I would much rather see a three disc set on people more derserving like Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, Andre The Giant, hell anybody over Kane. It would be nice to have more classic stuff on the market instead of things for the 12-17 age group. Let's see more of the things that made wrestling great, with the superstars that helped pave the way for today's current talent.

This is a really sellout Corporate decision by WWE. They own the rights to all WCW PPVs, videos and memorabilla - why not sell a "Best of Starcade" dvd and make some money off it?

it is called residuals. just because they own the footage doesn't mean they can show it without an agreement in place to use the footage of the people in it. in the case of those who are currently signed with the WWE, that is an easy thing to deal with, but look at the overdubbing of Jessie Ventura whenever and where ever they could.
they may not want or may not have been able to reach an agreement with someone like Sting, for example or the estate of a now deceased wrestler, and that alone is enough to stop the release.

"is anyone left from WCW anyways?"
Finlay, Gregory Helms, Chuck Palumbo, Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang, and Chavo Guerrero were all there until the end, Chris Jericho, Ron Simmons, Big Show, Jim Ross, Jim Duggan, Steve Austin and William Regal all had pretty lengthy runs - although Regal doesn't remember all of it, and Triple H had a short run there. There's also Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson, Dusty Rhodes and Ricky Steamboat who are agents now, but wrestled for WCW, and Vickie Guerrero who never worked for them, but will have some stories about Eddie's time there.
Oh, and they're still on speaking terms with Bischoff, who'd happily come in to tell everyone that WCW's failure was IN NO WAY his fault. Hogan would probably do the same.
So, in conclusion, there's plenty of people in WWE now who worked for WCW back when it was running and could contribute to a DVD about it.

I know the E owns the footage from the days after WCW was bought by Ted and left the NWA.
However, There was a WCW classic show that came on Turner South after Ted sold WCW to Vince so there is a chance that the E does not own the footage from when WCW was a firm member of the NWA.
Remember Starcade was more than just an WCW show in the beginning. It showcased talent from across the NWA.
I am sad they canceled the Starcade dvd,but I like Kane and, depending on the match selection, will probally buy the dvd.
Hopefully,we will eventually get the dvd we want.

If that were true, then how did I just watch Superbrawl VI on WWE 24/7, featuring Woman, Elizabeth, Road Warrior Hawk, Sting, Macho Man, etc.? So I believe you're wrong on that count. Vince owns the footage. He can do whatever he wants with it.

"Here's what a lot of people don't understand: the WWE fears that if you do order this DVD, then you'll be exposed to REAL wrestling, and not the garbage you see on WWE.
Ergo, real wrestling fans (ie, everyone who's not The Rev or Darth Mortis) will demand that WWE put on the same wrestling that NWA once did. As a result today's "WWE superstars" will be exposed as overhyped hacks who just live off pyros and cool theme music and lack any real skills.
As a result more fans will flock to TNA where they have actual talented wrestlers who display their skills.
So you see people it's not burying the promotion, it's actual fear that prevents Vince from releasing the DVDs.
Besides, who wouldn't want to see the real story behind the Katie Vick angle? "
Never mind that they show classic stuff on 24/7 and on certain other DVD releases. And why would they flock to TNA? You're telling me TNA provides exactly what people are going to see in NWA releases? And I don't believe they're picking Kane over Starrcade. Kane's DVD was set to release regardless.

There was no WCW until 1988. There was a SHOW called World Championship Wrestling but not a company called that. Starrcade was a NWA show period.
They've released three matches from the first Starrcade and at least one or two from '85 on other sets. I don't think there's any problem with the rights to those pre-Turner/WCW shows.

ECW = FMW ripoff that just happened to get popular in the states because FMW wasn't shown on TV in the US during the early to mid 1990's. Just to clear that up (again)
Far as this goes? BULLSHIT. WWE: If It Didn't Happen Here, It Didn't Happen Period! Just another move to put over the generic, mediocre product of today over the older era when people actually wrestled and threw realistic punches.

Dear Five star, out of all the descions in 100+ year history of wrestling, and WWE canceling a DVD is the worst thing to ever happen in wrestling. David Arquette Becoming world Champion, Finger Poke of Death, ECW Crucifixion, Screw Job in Montreal, ROH Rape angle and not coming out with the Starrcade DVD is the worst, wow you should fuck a bag of sheep shit.

"Maybe you should take your own advice Darth Mortis instead of blindly kissing Vince's ass."
i suppose that, since i posted an opinion based on fact and supposition, and (unlike you) not based on your irrational hatred of the WWE how you could see how i was 'kissing vince's ass.'
and as i am sure that you feel that you have impressed the other 11 year old's by saying 'ass' perhaps you can actually try to refute my argument instead of restorting to ad hominem.
don't worry...i will wait whilst you go and get your mommy to explain what ad hominem means.
