WWE News: Ryan Braddock as JBL’s Cousin, Chuck Palumbo Endangered and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.17.2008

- Ryan Braddock (Jay Bradley/Bradley Jay) from developmental, who has been seeing work on both Smackdown and ECW was originally going to be brought in as JBL's cousin. Braddock actually did a gimmick similar to JBL's in developmental for a while, but when JBL saw him work on the road, he put an end to that idea because he felt that Braddock "projected himself too much like a midcarder."

- Chuck Palumbo is said to be on the "endangered species list." Vince McMahon was high on him during his return and loved the motorcycle gimmick. But McMahon reportedly lost interest in him, which is why he hasn't been on TV since the draft. The agents aren't high on him, and his only supporter is John Lauranitis as they have been friends since the WCW days. Lauranitis got Palumbo his job with All Japan and convinced WWE to bring him back, claiming he had "reinvented himself" there, but when he came back, he was still the same Chuck Palumbo.

- Add Paul London to the "endangered species list." People close to him in the company say that he is very likeable, talented, bi-lingual (which is seen as a good thing with WWE wanting to expand internationally) and has invested in acting classes on his own to improve his character. Others say that he has "no instincts for this," and he also has no support on the booking team.

If there is a God, then WWE will release Palumbo. I can't stand him and honestly, does anyone REALLY like him? Some may not hate him, but nobody really gives a good goddamn about Palumbo.

I hope they keep London. He's really good and it's a shame they split up London and Kendrick. Now THE Brian Kendrick is doing well on SmackDown! London could do well in the IC title division if given a chance. If he's cut loose, then expect the X-Division to get a new contender.

This article stated Paul London is bi-lingual but then failed to identify which two languages he speaks. I assume English is one of the two but what is the other one? Polish? Swahili? Klingon?

chuck would be a great fake razor

Braddock used a clothesline as his finisher, he looked like a broke mans JBL.

Chuck Palumbo did re-invent himself in the ring, and his feud with noble was very good.

If "creative" has nothing for London i hope he will be released and sign with ROH where he can wrestle for more than 8 minutes.

yeah, london is a great wrestler, and a feud with him an his former tagteam parter would be great!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. If anyone is projecting himself like a midcarder, it's JBL.

I hope they do something with London because he deserves it BUT I'd love to see him back in RoH.

"projected himself too much like a midcarder."

Yeah, good one Hawk.

Wow. A wrestler actually trying to improve is potentially about to be let go while those content to rely on the same gimmicks and movesets they've been using for years consistently stay in or near the main event?

On what planet is that fair?

I hope Chuck Palumbo and Paul London don't live in Alaska. We all know how Sarah Palin feels about the Endangered Species List. Cheap oil? Nuke 'em all!

Come on Paul London, cross the line to TNA! You can rule the X Divison and have awesome matches with the best in the world. And the fans will actually care about you.

Palumbo reinvented himself"

really how ? By rehashing and making Takers American Badass gimmick worse and very boring ! YAWN !!

Hey Vince your just as guilty for allowing that dummy back into the WWE let alone allowing the same bullshit rehashed gimmick on TV as well !

Oh man, I wish Paul London did speak Kilngon. That's a money gimmick right there

Posted By: Nick Noel (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 01:00 AM

Would it really be so hard for them to *gasp* watch tapes of AJPW and see if he had changed before wasting money on him?

Seriously, no charisma no nothing. Horrible waste of money.

The one with people who think.

Because they are OVER. Regardless of what smarks on the Internet believe. Changing gimmicks/movesets means nothing if it doesn't get over.

Palumbo...London....whatever either way, Joey Gladstone said it best....nobody really gives a good Goddamn. If there is anyone listening from WWE...these are the guys we need to get.
Shawn O'Haire
Kevin Nash
Cristian
One last Hogan run((come on, who wouldnt want to see like, lets say Hogan/Edge at Mania.))
And Tomko...He'd make a good Smackdown Heal...I almost feel sometimes that if Bam Nealy's loser ass wasnt around, Tomko would be in his place. Im just ranting...Im tired of watching and hoping to see someone make me feel the way i felt about wrestling even 5 years ago.((Sigh))

Posted By: George (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 02:50 AM

OK, honestly....I feel bad for Palumbo and Tomko. Really. Both guys went to Japan after spinning their wheels here in the states. The Japanese loved them, as they often love massive foreigners. They both improved their work as big men tremendously, in my opinion. Then they return to the states, and fall on hard times again. Granted, Tomko's made his own bad luck in a way by getting on TNA's bad side. But Chuck improved but never got anything to do from creative. He could've been a good hired-gun guy; think of him like Brent Albright, but with a brawling style instead of Brent's technical expertise in ROH.

My suggestion? Stay in Japan, guys. At least there, you'll be appreciated....even if I really wouldn't mind seeing Tomko come back to WWE....preferably with a certain old buddy of his....

That brings me to London: wow. Just.....wow. That's got to feel like shit, watching Matt Sydal get a big push using a move Vince threatened to fire you for using and working the same style you work. From the sounds of it, he's going the extra mile behind the scenes to develop a character. He's got more personality as a babyface than Matt (and not as white-meat) and the man, like Matt, can break it down and WRESTLE. Pick up ROH's "Best Of Bryan Danielson" disc, if you want to call my bluff and watch their two-out-of-three falls match.

Come to think of it, the American Dragon puts on clinics with both London AND Kendrick over the course of that set. God, I've gotta replace my copy....

I digress. I feel for both of those guys (and Tomko) and wouldn't mind seeing London return to his ROH roots and Palumbo enjoy a likely main-event career for All Japan, if he returned to Japan.

Please, though......PLEASE avoid TNA. You both deserve so much better.

Fire them all. Who cares?

Posted By: King Nikolai (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 04:19 AM

I've always liked Chuck, and London is of course an absolutely outstanding wrestler. They should definitely make more and better use of both of them, as to just get rid of them is a complete waste. But instead which new wrestlers do they choose to push instead, people like Kofi Kingston who just can't work, and his sole effort to get over with the crowd is to wiggle his arms about a bit when he comes down to the ring.

Posted By: Norman Tebbitt (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 04:48 AM

While I would love to see Paul back in ROH if its between wwe and TNA i would want him to pick TNA they would use him alot better

Posted By: random (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 08:45 AM

Sean, don't forget that 30-minute draw in London vs Styles, or the hellacious three-way that was London v Styles v Low Ki. Here I was, hoping that we'd get to see the London Calling again once I saw Matt Sydal busting it out, but naturally, Paul's still on the shit list so they're treating him like every other cruiser. Allow the man to wrestle his own style and actually get some fan support behind him? Of course not, that would be the smart and marketable thing to do...

It's amazing how some people turn everything towards politics.. Sarah Palin knows that we can drill safely without hurting the precious caribou. Go back to eating your tofu, jackass!

you want to know the problem with the WWE... THAT JBL GETS TO MAKE DECISIONS ON TALENT.

Thats your problem, instead of an agent like Malenko, Anderson, etc saying this is what were going to do, a talent gets to over rule the whole decision. I love what Bischoff said in his book 'The minute talent starts making decisions on TV your in trouble. Talent doesnt' care about ratings or overall product, they care about getting themselves over and that is all. Right HUNTOR?

paul london should go to the X division, i love the fact he was band from the shooting star press yet even bourne does it on a daily basis, probably cus he never injured anyone at the same time.

chuck reinvented himself, in other words hes no longer in love with billy gunn.

and braddock... if this guy ever gets a push hes gonna get the Kevin Thorne treatment over and over till once again, disapeers.

It would be impossibe for London to sustain a push because he can't hold up his own end of a match with a bigger guy without Kendrick. I'm sorry crusierweights fans but the truth is only so many little guys can break through in WWE. Kendrick was the charismatic one, and London was just a helpful spot monkey. He'd do well in ROH, but when your on Raw you have to have management support and improve rapidly. You can't be trying to improve without management support and keep your spot.

If Palumbo goes somebody else needs to get the biker gimmick, I dont care much for Chuck but little seems more badass then coming down to the ring with a Harley Davidson roaring.

Have you looked at TNA's ratings?????? That tells you hardly no one watches the show

You know what would be the greatest? to draft London to ECW and turn him heel, and then he will have a good feud against none other than ____ _______

But that will never happen, Vince is too busy looking at Batista's triceps, while HHH flexes is biceps.

Posted By: guesthehe (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 12:28 PM

Palumbo also really really is not at all good, and his release should be sooner, quick and painless and his spot should go to someone who actually deserves it.

To be fair, Matt Striker actually started that trend in his ECW pro Republican commentary. Granted it fits his character but given how neutral they keep the Smackdown your vote campaign I'm surprised they allow it. And anyone who thinks oil drilled here by private sector juggernauts won't be put on the world market and sold to us for the same price as the Middle Eastern stuff is beyond clueless.

Anyway, I hope London keeps his job and avoids being the latest addition to the TNA sideshow that is the X division. Being well paid and invisible is still better than that, and I'm a TNA fan.

How about JBL help Braddock out so he doesn't "project himself as a midcarder." You know, maybe work with the guy so he "projects himself as a main eventer." JBL is suck a c0cksucker.

Chuck will either end up back in japan or in TNA as heavyweight champ within 6 months unless russo is removed, as for London sorry dude you are never going to get over in WWE you not close to 7ft and you dont look like an advert for roid rage monthly all of which means your off to ROH or TNA acting lessons maybe you can play Cenas more characteristic side kick in the marine 2

Posted By: Rob (Guest)  on September 17, 2008 at 04:17 PM

Shame about JBL/Braddock, where instead of trying to help the kid out and give him the info he needs to not be so 'midcard', JBL snuffs the idea before he can even get a shot. Pretty bad considering he languished in the midcard for ages until Eddie Guerrero stood up for him, and by his own admission, if he hadn't he'd never have broken through.

JBL & Braddock would've been a great pair - both are boring, bad wrestlers who look like inbred, white trash. Funny they're still arouns fired inbred, whire trash looking Trevor Murdoch who actually was interesting and had talent!

Originally, I thought London was going to join Jericho who appeared to be starting a "Raven's flock" type stable. For Cade to be the only guy Jericho has saved is kinda weak.
