Kevin Nash Re-Signs with TNA
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.18.2008
Big Sexy is not going anywhere...
With just weeks to go on his current deal, sources in TNA have confirmed that Kevin Nash has re-signed with the company. No details on the terms of the new deal at this time.

That's good news for TNA.
That's really good news for WWE... TNA can keep everything that Vinnie Mac tosses in the trash... how else would they keep their roster full....

Yes~! No TNA can have the dream match of Nash v Morgan

Another washed up 10 years past his prime guy getting big money to do fuck all!

This is good news " i think" Now they need to get Kong Signed .
Posted By: Bill Apter (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 08:07 AM
God dammit... WHY, TNA?
What has Nash done for the company? Has he increased ratings? Nope. Has he put any talent over at all? Nope. Nash has always been a worthless piece of crap that over-hypes himself and somehow gets people to believe it.

Translation: The WWE doesn't want his broken down, 10 years past-his-prime body.

Boo, I really wanted to see one last run in the E. Oh well, he probably would have wrestled and ruined the whole thing.
Posted By: Guest#7078 (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 09:38 AM
How many dates per year in this deal? The usual 10?

Good signing by TNA. Great to see them investing in the young talent!
Posted By: DS (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 10:49 AM
Say what you will about Nash, But I enjoy seeing him on TV. Even if he can't wrestle like he used to, he is still a good mentor and can help new guys coming up. I would like to see him in a more vocal role in the future.

Big Sexy's back!
Posted By: slut (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 11:14 AM
Wow, TNA signed an over-the-hill, rarely used, wrestling talent. Color me surprised.
Posted By: surprise (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Seriously? Does anyone really watch TNA?
Posted By: Guest#8365 (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 11:43 AM
DO NOT WANT!
Posted By: natedoggcata (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 11:49 AM
Nash cuts a good promo and entertains me. As long as he is not backstage pushing buttons and making calls I am all for it.
Posted By: The Drunken Race Fan (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 11:49 AM
That's it. I think I'm done with TNA for good. I have always preferred the alternative promotions to WWE/F such as NWA, WCW and TNA. But TNA has absolutely screwed the pooch here. Nash sucks, period. He can't wrestle anymore so all he can do is the corny soap opera acting which I abhor. Get with it TNA cause I really want to like you more than the E, I really do. You're just making it impossible for me. I mean, when I watch a one hour ECW show and get TWICE AS MUCH wrestling as a typical TNA show then something is wrong. I'm a wrestling fan so why would I want to watch 20 minutes of some BS freakin' "beauty pageant". Are you kidding me?!?!?! Newsflash TNA, I want to watch a WRESTLING PROGRAM, get it?
You know what? Screw it. Fuck off TNA, I'm done with your crap. Maybe if you go back to wrestling I might catch a show down the line, but right now I'm embarrassed to even call myself a TNA fan. You are a pathetic organization. As much as I hate the E, I'd rather watch that than the pile of crap you put out.

Big Viagra is sticking with TNA? i can see that. the light schedule, the big money.
the fact that his only other option was tag teaming with Jake Roberts and Scott Hall on the 'Dude...Wait...What?' tour...

Goddamn you all...Why can't TNA have Nash? No, I'm not the biggest Kevin Nash supporter. But you all act like you have to spike a rating to be seen as having any worth. Does Petey Williams draw ratings? No. Does AJ Styles draw ratings? No. Does Joe draw ratings? No. Does Christian draw ratings? No. Does Kurt Angle draw ratings? No. No one draws ratings for TNA yet they provide entertainment. If it were all based on who draws ratings, then fire the entire men's roster and keep the women around. See the problem with the logic of basing everything on ratings. If you got rid of everything that doesn't draw ratings in TNA, then you wouldn't have much of a company left. Don't blame Nash or any other worker for not drawing ratings. Blame TNA for not marketing themselves properly. Blame Spike TV for not marketing themselves as diverse network to draw in good ratings across the board.
I'm going to class moderators...I'll be back at 2pm

EPIC WASTE OF FUCKING MONEY
Posted By: PJ (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 01:01 PM
At 49, saying Nash is only ten years past his prime is being nice. And with some many young top talents contracts coming up or already expired, why re-sign Nash just to continue the slow un-wanted build to a match with Joe?
Posted By: K. Bett (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 01:18 PM
Damn I wanted Nash back in the WWE.
You would have thought he'd want to reunite with HBK in his final years.
Posted By: A (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 01:45 PM
Apart from helping to trash the reputation of Samoa Joe, Nash has done nothing of worth in TNA for ages if ever.
'Jobs for the old boys' should be the new TNA moto.
Epic waste of money.
Posted By: JAK (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Like I said, Nash is the smartest man in wrestling. He probably got a good contract with TNA that doesn't include much actual wrestling and he gets to crack a few jokes and maybe powerbomb someone. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Posted By: future (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 03:30 PM
What a surprise, they kept him... Must have been a hot commodity, after all everybody is after such a great rising new star.
Posted By: Guest#7641 (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 04:39 PM
Nash is awesome, I'm happy with this as long as he doesn't wrestle anymore.
Posted By: 2Sweet (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 04:44 PM
What a waste of money. He'd be great doing color commentary, but he shouldn't be wrestling anymore.

Here comes all the "TNA investing in old talent" jibes when Michaels, Batista and Undertaker are all over 40 (and feature heavily in topline feuds).
Posted By: kliq316 (Guest) on September 18, 2008 at 05:13 PM
@kliq316:
While it sucks that WWE is pushing old talent also, you're missing out on two very important things:
1. Michaels, Undertaker and Batista DRAW MONEY. They DRAW RATINGS. They DRAW PEOPLE TO THE HOUSE SHOWS (well, except Undertaker, who doesn't work them often if at all). What have the WWE old-timers and rejects done for TNA? NOTHING. You can't even make a case for Sting drawing one damned dime.
2. We tend to criticize WWE for the same thing also. So this isn't a one-sided bitch-fest.
Personally, my biggest problem is that unlike pretty much any other wrestler, Nash will NOT put someone else over. Am I the only one that remembers his big "I'm gonna push the X-Division" pitch? You know, the one where he would come in, destroy X-Division wrestlers over and over until he ended up in a match with the lucky one to be pushed and that guy would get the big pinfall win, thus elevating the entire division? Am I the only one that remembers Nash pulling one of his famous "I'm injured, I can't work" routines when it came time for him to do the J-O-B on the P-P-V?
Nash learned from the master, Hulk Hogan, about elevating yourself and only yourself, and screw everyone else.

"At 49, saying Nash is only ten years past his prime is being nice."
wow, that isn't nice. i actually don't have a problem with his age, as many of the top main event talent are all within spitting distance of 49 now, for me, the problem is that Kevin Nash simply can't even watch TV without blowing his quads anymore.
ageism is just a copout excuse for not really understanding that experience usually equals quality.
a healthy Kevin Nash would be alright, but that isn't what we are talking about.

They've locked in a keeper, now they just need to drop dead weight like Fat Foley and Fat Joe.
Posted By: King Nikolai (Guest) on September 19, 2008 at 11:39 AM
Now folks, why so serious? TNA has a formula that is simple and it is this. You can never have enough 55 year olds on the roster. I mean you need to have a main event caliber name and you will not find that in a 30 year old.
The headline should read "TNA RESIGNS JURASSIC NASH."
Posted By: The Coach (Guest) on September 19, 2008 at 08:39 PM
Oh come on people.. Nash is a good signing. As long as he's used more for interviews, commentary, and angles than for wrestling. He's always been gold on the microphone, and he's done a good job of evolving his character to something else as he's gotten older.
Besides.. at the moment, when someone says "Who are the top stars in this TNA wrestling thing?", you can reply "Sting, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Samoa Joe, Christian Cage, AJ Styles, Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, The Dudley Boyz, Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, Scott Steiner". That might be a stretch.. but instantly most people will recognize everyone outside of Abyss, Joe, and Styles.
You people say that's the problem.. but in reality.. that's the only way to draw in new fans, who don't care about Joe, AJ, Abyss, the Muscle Buster, ROH, or anything else that any of the "Homegrown TNA" talent (i.e. the ones they stole from ROH/etc.) have done. They want characters they know, THEN you can give them some characters they don't know yet.
As long as they aren't giving him Sting money to appear on a months worth of Impacts in a year's time.. then kudos to TNA for a smart signing.

Ummmm here's the difference. Two of the three names you just listed are still able to put on match of the year contenders everytime they hit the spotlight. The third can give a decent match when he decides to.
If you think for one second you can compare Nash to any of them, today or 15 years ago, then I ask you the age old question, "Did you bring enough mind altering drugs for everyone?"
I bet TNA is actually interesting if you were tripping on acid. Since I don't do drugs maybe you could let me know?
