Various News: WWE Kicks Off On MyNetworkTV w/ Low Rating, Sandman Pleads Guilty, More Trouble for Hogans, LAX vs. Briscoes, TNA In SD, More

Saturday news update....
- The TNA Impact replay will not air at its normal time tonight due to the UFC special on SpikeTV. The replay actually aired this morning at 9AM.
- The Sandman pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest yesterday in a Yonkers, NY court. This is of course the result of his drunken fight that happened at Captain Lou Albano's birthday party in July. Sandman was fined $1000 and was given a year of conditional discharge.
- The WrestleMania special that aired on MyNetworkTV last night did a very low 1.2 rating. Even the magic show that followed it did a higher rating.
- ContactMusic has a report up about Linda Hogan getting a ticket for speeding while on her way to visit Nick Hogan in jail. Check out the article here.
- ROH has announced LAX vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe for their 10/25 show in Edison, NJ.
- TNA has announced a house show for Sioux Falls, South Dakota on 11/23. Tickets go on sale on 10/10.
Low budget magic show > fuckin' Wrestlemania. WWE needs to pull a few tricks out of their sleeve to get people to care about their product again.

Gee it did better than TNA no wonder why it sucks so much. Everybody has seen that Wrestlemania by now that is why it is so low. I think it should have been a story on Wrestlemania then it would have done better.

Re: MyNetwork TV's low rating for the Wrestlemania show--there's something called the Vice Presidential Debates that got something like 70 million viewers.

That Wrestlemania thing was horrific. It was like one of those fan made YouTube "highlight" videos, complete with bad music and all.

It wasn't even the whole show anyway. It looked like it was just highlights.

No shit it was a low rating. 3/4 of the country cant get that shitty network (myself included). Put smackdown on USA, where at least people can watch it.
Posted By: cerulean (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 02:14 PM
So magic > TNA and WWE. Go figure.
Posted By: Guest#7919 (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 02:20 PM
Alright...speeding ticket while seeing your son who crashed his car due to driving out of control including speeding. This is classic.
Posted By: Guest#5110 (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 02:22 PM
Wow. A 1.2 rating? How the hell did that happen?

The Wrestlemania special SUCKED!!!!! They tried to put all sorts of bells and whistles on it, and it made it look really crappy, not to mention the fact that it took away from the quality of the matches. Boo-urns.

Wrestling fans don't watch debates. It is pretty sad that the superbowl of sport's entertainment is pulling TNA type numbers. MyTV sucks, SD will be on USA this time next year.
Posted By: OID (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 02:51 PM
Wasn't the Wrestlemania special on at 8? The debate was from 9-11, head-to-head with TNA. At least on the east coast. I know I forgot to watch Impact because of the debate and baseball. And now no replay, damn.

Not EVERYONE has gotten a speeding ticket before!! (guest)(Guest)

It was the Wrestlemania recap show on thursday, you idiot. What does Karma have to do with a low rating? And where does stealing come into this? --- man, people are dumb.
Posted By: frank (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 03:39 PM
actually MyNetworkTV is available in more markets than the CW was, so saying no one gets the network is a poor excuse.
Posted By: Brett (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 03:43 PM
LAX versus the BRISCOES! FTW!!!!!
Posted By: James (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 04:20 PM
If they would've explained what that WrestleMania show actually was, it might have done better. I could never figure out if it was a replay of this year's, a history of Mania, or what. Did it have interviews? Matches? They never, ever actually said.

WM was just a replay. Of course its going to do lower numbers. What are the buys of the PPVs that are replayed the rest of the week? This should have no meaning of the status of Smackdown. ANyone who thinks this is the end for SMackdown is a friggin retard.
Posted By: squirrel master (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 06:13 PM
Man I didn't even get to see Wrestlemania 24 on MyNetwork. I get all my shit pre-empted. Smackdown went from like 10:30-12:30 on my TV.
Posted By: Drew (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 06:28 PM
And how is Linda Hogan wrestling news again?
Posted By: chucky (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 07:45 PM
I don't think MyNetwork TV is available in more markets than the CW. We used to have it, but we don't any longer. Not really sure why. Probably because it's crappy programming.
Smackdown got boned by the CW.

"Re: MyNetwork TV's low rating for the Wrestlemania show--there's something called the Vice Presidential Debates that got something like 70 million viewers."
Yeah, but didn't TNA go head-to-head with the Presidential debates on Thurday and still got basically the same number it usually gets? Instead of a 1.1 it got a 1.0. People probably figured it was going to be a highlite/glorified music video instead of the whole show anyway. Let's see how actual Smackdown! does on MyTV.
Posted By: Chuck (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 08:37 PM
What was Smackdown's rating I would imagine it would be lower than usual because not as many people have mynetworktv
see im a tna fan but unlike the wwe fans I mention if theres something going on during the same night that could hurt the other companys ratings
Posted By: random (Guest) on October 04, 2008 at 08:40 PM
Any wrestling fans watching the debate were probably not used to seeing podiums that were not destroyed by the end of the segment
Posted By: jasonel (Guest) on October 05, 2008 at 02:32 AM
Wow wrestling fans are dumb. Become an MMA fan and check out the fights sometime. They are real, no storylines. and people really get fucked up!!!
Posted By: Lucid (Guest) on October 05, 2008 at 08:56 AM
my network tv is carried in more homes than the cw, and none of you still have any idea how the rating system works, the number is the per cent of people with acess to the program who watch it, so even if mynetworktv was only carried in like 1/4 of homes like some of you would have everyone believe that wouldnt actually have any impact on the rating.

Back to the basics dude. Simple. This is what they should do in no particular order,
End that stupid brand extension.
Consolidate those championships and do away with those ridiculous spinner and diva belts.
And most importantly stop this retarded sports entertainment shit. Please.
That oughta do it. Let me know if I missed anything.

WHO the fuck cares is the wife or ex-wife (don't know, don't care) of a former wrestler gets a speeding ticket?
WRESTLING NEWS
That drivel has nothing to do with wrestling and I don't see why it should even be reported here. Or anywhere, really.

"Sandman was fined $1000 and was given a year of conditional discharge."
I was given "conditional discharge" once. And that was the LAST time I ordered an "escort" out of the back of the sports pages in Louisville.
