TNA Impact Rating
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.10.2008
How did Impact do?
Last night's edition of TNA Impact, which was the go home show for their biggest PPV of the year, scored a 0.95 cable rating. This is down from last week's 1.1 rating.

So this means what? That two people had dates they decided to go on instead of watching Impact?

What happened to Foley changing everything?
Posted By: Foley's Impact (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 08:18 PM
When are people going to realize the simple fact that TNA SUcks! It's just a sweet little place for those who had trouble handling the WWE schedule....let's see Kurt Angle, Christian, Matt Morgan, Booker T, etc...and now Mick Foley? TNA needs to realize that they should develop their own stars instead of trying to establish starts who have already been established in someone else's promotion, years before they were in TNA.....TNA.....YOU SUCK!!!!
Posted By: Nick (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 08:24 PM
It really breaks my hart to see that the rating either stayz the same or goes down cuz impact has been very entertaining the last 2 months,i will keep watching and remain positive thingz will change (sighs)

I Deff agree but TNA stop hiring has beens or ppl who r stuck in the freakin past..it gets u nowhere...soo yeaa
Posted By: Zman1028 (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 08:29 PM
At the moment i dont think ANYONE is going to spike the ratings. Its the same core audience week in week out and has been for a long long time. They desperately need to get their product out there with an advertising epidemic. I dont think its the quality holding the shows down, they have been solid for a couple of months now.

Posted By: Guest#3746 (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 08:54 PM
This is proof no site really tries to search for the impact rating as they simply could care less. The proof being last week was not a 1.1 it was a 1.0...2 weeks ago the rating was 1.1 not last weeks.Go ahead and make fun of TNA all you want but at least they can keep the same 1 million viewers each week where RAW bounces from 2.8-3.9 if they are lucky.Oh yea MNF isnt the real reason either so stop lying to yourselves

Great ratings!
Posted By: Dixie Carter (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 09:04 PM
for all of you thats saying epic fail or lol, SHUT THE F*** UP! Oh big deal, they got a 0.95, which by the way is rounded to a 1.0, isnt that freakin bad. I remember the impact before BFG06 got a 0.8, but the buyrate for BFG that year was about 50000, which is pretty good for TNA. Plus, Mick Foley did bring in ratings. when he debuted last week, that segment was the highest rated for that show. So yeah TNA got somewhat of a bad rating, doesn't mean there PPV buyrate is gonna go down at all. so for any that says epic fail, your an idiot, just like all the other retarded WWE sports entertainment fans.

Posted By: Ryan (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 09:49 PM
OK, TNA marks... What's your excuse this time? They weren't running against a debate this time. So are you finally ready to admit that Foley and Jarrett can't draw and TNA will always be the arena football of professional wrestling?
Posted By: A-Ron (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM
Well, TNA is not progressing the way they would hope.
Why are their PPV buyrates not released?
Oh and please, if you have to hate on TNA, your mom called, she said you're an EPIC FAILed miserable waste of sperm.

I like TNA. The show was good this week. I know there are a lot of people here who praise everything WWE and love to bash TNA. I just try to enjoy them both.
Thing is, TNA isn't doing anything to even try to spark the ratings above their high of 1.2. The potential is there, but nothing is being done. All the shows seem to be going through the motions right now, but I'll stick with TNA here.
There's lots of potential. I think Matt Morgan will make a good world champ when the time comes. Probably a tag champ first, but hopefully it won't end with a tag title like it did with Tomko.
OK, he big plot seems to be the veterans against the young guys, but just what is TNA trying to do here with this angle? Are they going to break off into cliques and have a war, or what?
And, who are the faces and heels in this deal? Sure, the veterans are being presented as heels, but what about Sting? He's not being presented as a heel. He actually makes some sense in what he says and really doesn't fit in with Angle, Team 3D and Booker at the moment.
Young guys are the faces? What about Joe? He's not being portrayed as all that good a guy. He's acting more like a heel. So, who is the casual fan supposed to be cheering?
I think Joe vs Sting has potential, just as Angle vs Jarrett. The latter has been built up nicely these past few weeks, but your title match is not. Who is the face in the championship battle?
There is potential with the veterans vs the young guys, but I've been watching it over the past month or two and wondering what TNA is trying to do with it. Do they even know? Are they afraid to go with this angle?
I read here a while back, (so you know it's true ;-) ) that they wanted Sting to turn heel, but he doesn't want to. If that's true, it's a shame that he isn't willing to go with what TNA wants to do to try and get ratings up.
And that's what it's gonna take. Yeah, push some of the younger guys in title shots and keep putting out decent matches, but it's gonna take a good story line to get casual fans to watch and bump the rating up beyond 1.2. It's possible it can happen, but not the way things are going now.
Bringing in Foley or having Jarrett return means nothing without a good storyline. It seems like they are thinking about doing something with the veterans vs the young guys, but what? Do they even know?
I just think they need to get to the point with that angle and see where it goes, rather than talking like something is there and showing nothing. Maybe it works, maybe not, but give it shot. If it fails, move to another idea.
What I hope doesn't happen is Sting wins on Sunday, setting up Sting vs Jarrett for a Jarrett win. Jarrett with the belt now will do about as much as HHH with the belt on Smackdown.
But then again, what do I know?

Guy Incognito, you make a great point. Welcome to the world of Russo's booking over the past two years...unfortunately.

Dixie Carter has set up a meeting with Vince McMahon to discuss a potential WWE/TNA merger buyout. "The moment I saw the 1.1 rating on the Foley debut (and launch of the IMPACT! video game) I just knew we didn't stand a chance," said Carter.
Posted By: ML (Guest) on October 10, 2008 at 11:21 PM
well, ratings don't decide which show was better for me. Granite, tna's rating was down according to the report BUT........................ this week's impact > this week's raw

BRUTAL. SAD , Pathetic, Lame . Unacceptable.
Posted By: Double J (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 01:27 AM
It's a damn conspiracy, it's real it's real.
The rating is like so much much higher and our show is the greatest!
We are so slightly below (probably above already at this point!) the WWE they are sabotaging our ratings now.

These guys must really suck. I might yet watch them some time just to laugh at this garbage.

Excellent news. Really great. Bound For Bullshit - papered arenas and low five digit buy-rates... here we come!
Posted By: Total Nonstop Amoeba (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 04:15 AM
I don't know why everyone is making such a big deal about this rating. When you think about it, iMPACT isn't on a station like the USA Network like Raw is, so iMPACT probably did better than Raw for its audience size.

If you want WWE style atings then you have to be the WWE, not try and be ike the WWE.
If you want better ratings then your storylines need to make the auience care about the wretlers/characters.
If you wanty better ratings you need to book your World Champion and his no.1 contender like they mean something - not relegate them to the first half of the show and treat them as an afterthought.
If you want decent ratings then be constant - car crash/ADHD writing went out with the old Vince Russo WWE.
And if you want better ratings then you better respect the fans you have left. Kurt Angle was right about TNA being all gimmicks and holding down the young guns - you wont win by having Jeff Jarrett, the man who keep the youngsters like Samoa Joe down and green lights gimmick matches, spout bollocks about Kurt Angel vs. Vince McMahon.
I used to really look forward to TNA every Saturday night here in the UK, now I can easily give it a miss and not care. If I'm the average TNA fan then it's no wonder their ratings are constantly dipping but never breaking the 1.1 glass ceiling, it's not like I'd recommend the program to anyone on the wrestling (oh yeah, that's gone now in favour of Main Event Talks!)

Not surprised the show did a BAD rating, it was another BAD show!
Posted By: Snooker (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 05:19 AM
actually most of the wrestlers are great its just people are used to the wwe
Posted By: random (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 06:09 AM
Nobody watches wrestling anymore, maybe thats the problem Douches.
Posted By: Propagandhi (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 08:25 AM
I really hope the 10/23 Live Impact episode does well, because I think that's what TNA needs to get more people to watch the show. Yes I know going live is expensive, but eventually they may want to consider at least doing it once a month.
Also, they seriously need to begin pushing the guys fans will love to see. The MCMG's, LAX, Beer Money and Samoa Joe alone should consistently get pushed and advertised so they could reach that demographic.
Shoot, I'm all for going down to Orlando or Nashville myself and taking over for their piss poor marketing department.
Posted By: Ryder (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 08:25 AM
I really don't see these numbers changing without the show being live, as long as people can read the results weeks ahead of time online their never going to boost the rating more than a few points here or there. They've had that same base number because those are all the hardcore fans who will watch it regardless, give or take a few straglers. Go live and pick another night, Thursdays and wrestling just don't click.

Lots of people have crossed the line, and crossed back over other side where its not full of shit

so anyone hear about when Vince will buy TNA?
Posted By: Josh (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 11:30 AM
.05 of a rating (from last week's 1.0 according to other sources). Really, is that worth this much fuss? It'll be back up soon. Its not like half a point or anything. I'm a WWE mark and I don't like TNA, but really... its nothing for either side to go on and on and on and on about.
Posted By: RJ45 (Guest) on October 11, 2008 at 01:30 PM
"iMPACT isn't on a station like the USA Network like Raw is, so iMPACT probably did better than Raw for its audience size."
USA and Spike's availibility is about even.

FOLEY EQUALZ RATINGZ.
Maybe TNA will stop spending money on WWE has-beens now?
