Various News: The Wrestler, Foley's TNA Future, Hogan's New Show
Posted by Ashish on 10.13.2008
More Monday news...
- The Wrestler made its U.S. debut last night in New York City. Several ROH personalities including owner Cary Silkin and ring announcer Bobby Cruise were at the screening. The film's stars, as well as director Darren Aronofky, were also at the screening.
- Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling debuts this Saturday at 8PM ET on CMT. The show is a reality show about celebrities being trained by Brutus Beefcake and Brian Knobbs. The celebs will then wrestle and be judged by Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, and Jimmy Hart.
SPOILER WARNING!
- TNA is advertising that Mick Foley will "say goodbye" to TNA on Impact this week, claiming he was only signed for one PPV. This is obviously a storyline. It's expected that Foley's "goodbye" segment on Impact this week will lead to him facing Kurt Angle in the ring.
Mick plaese dont wrestle you were great when you were but lets face it your in the worst shape that ive seen you in and it would be sad to see you get hurt stick to the comedy stuff wich your great at...

" It's expected that Foley's "goodbye" segment on Impact this week will lead to him facing Kurt Angle in the ring. "
And to think that TNA could use Angle better by having him put over some of the younger TNA stars. But that would require using one's brain, something that TNA seems unwilling to do.

What a mean joke to play on the audience. Getting them excited that Foley is leaving, only to bring him back and let him wrestle...
Posted By: Homie (Guest) on October 13, 2008 at 12:34 PM
The celebs will then wrestle and be judged by Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, and Jimmy Hart.
Hulk Hogan: Well lemmie tell ya something brother! If you eat your vitamins say your prayers, and belive in yourself brother! You'll rise to the top brother! You'll be the next david arquette in 3 weeks brother! I may let you even bang my daughter brother! Ohhhh Brother!
Eric Bischoff: Well you got the ability but what you're not really what we're looking for what with your black boots and black trunks. It worked for this one redneck but I dont think you can cut it so allow me to save you the trouble, you're fired! Smirks
Jimmy Hart: You're fired baby! Oh baby! Ha ha ha ha you heard him you're so fired baby! But thanks for playing baby! Now bring on the rejects from NWWL baby!

Do you work on the Hypno-Toad show(Futurama reference)? Do you really just sit there and watch TV zombified without expressing any emotion or opinion?

TNA always does story lines like that, they claim that they are leaving but, yet they come back. They did that for Sting, Chris Daniels, and now Mick Foley. If they are any other wrestlers that I am forgeting please tell me.

Watch TNA get a 0.9 this week
Posted By: Guest#5918 (Guest) on October 13, 2008 at 01:41 PM
Internet psychic:
"TNA impact had a 1.0 rating this week, up from last week's 0.9. Obviously this is a huge disappointment given that it was the first show after their biggest PPV and featured Mick Foley in a prominent angle."
Keep spending that money, TNA. It'll just make it even sooner that Vince buys your tape library for 2 cents on the dollar, lol.

This is just the start of what we've all been waiting for. Mick Foley is the injection of fresh blood TNA has been needing to carry it to the top in the next decade and beyond.
1.1 BABY! The dream is about to come true!!!

I can't believe the E still has marks. Open your eyes, its a truly terrible product. I don't know TNA enough to say its any different, but WWE is pure trash.

As long as I eventually get my Foley/Joe match at some point, I'll be alright.

I will take a company that gives me awesome main events in Edge/Taker I, II, TLC and HIAC, along with the fabulous HBK/Jericho story/matches over a broken down Angle and the "worst-shape-of-his-life-and-that's-saying-something" Foley

what does foley have left to prove? and why in the hell does he have to do it in TNA of all places? seriously. i watch tna on occasion because i like a few of their wrestlers, but i'm hardly a fan of the company itself. i always hoped that foley would still be involved on tv to some capacity after he retired, and announcing for the wwe was a perfect way for him to utilize his talents. and now he's on a 3rd rate sinking ship, taking head shots in matches no one cares about, and turning himself into the biggest punchline in pro wrestling.
Posted By: hellboysetsfire (Guest) on October 13, 2008 at 04:24 PM
Its called using your star power Mick Foley is only trying to help TNA get bigger and better if you watched the PPV you will see that every segement with Foley was great

There is no such thing as hell. You might as well say you hope they all end up in Mordor.
Seriously though, TNA's roster is vastly superior to WWE, but the writing is WCW Thunder bad...

Didn't Angle complain about TNA not pushing younger and homegrown talents not too long ago?
Posted By: SirCrudNoodles (Guest) on October 13, 2008 at 05:02 PM
pffT!
mick vs angle will be way the fuck better than that Undertaker-Edge bullshit!
Posted By: tna mark! (Guest) on October 13, 2008 at 06:27 PM
Somebody needs to tell Hulk Hogan to give it up!!!!
God, I friggin' HATE that guy!!!!
Everything he does involves that idiot Brian Knobs and his stupid family!!!
When will people stop giving this over-rated jerk t.v. time?!?!?!?
Posted By: VOZ (Guest) on October 13, 2008 at 06:49 PM
so foley will be competing in his 3,453rd post retirement match.
foley vs angle would be awesome.............if it was 1998.

Apparently the WWE mark didn't get what I was saying. Let me explain, What I mean is stop trying to tell these people how to do their jobs and enjoy the product. Now don't even think about saying the product should be dead cause then you know it as well as I do, you would have no reason what so ever to bitch because yall WWE marks find that Triple H burying everyone on the roster with god given talent is the most fascinating storyline in life itself. LOL seriously you WWE marks are as dumb as the E's story writers forever proving my point the E' marks are either between the ages of 6 and 10 or just blatantly un-educated. Seriously for a company that claims to have the best fans in the world(universe) they seem to foget to mention that they also have the dumbest. Yet everything unlce Vinny Mac throws on screen you guys are captivated and awed, yet when TNA gives something good and classic OR something new you all claim its B.S. and I'm wondering why, maybe because you actually have to use your brains to think about what actually might happen next?

Oh and yes yet another "brutal" WWE mark. If you don't like it don't watch. Now how would you know Foley took a headshot unless either you say Bound For Glory or read the results cause iMpact sure hasn't aired yet which would contradict your quote "in a match no one cares about" yet again E' mark let me explain something to you as well. Apparently you care because well obviously you know. Second, if a man wants to sign with a company because he feels it is in his best interest then why try and say different. That would be like someone telling you to quit your job at McDonalds to go work at Burger King, same industry, same crap, worse pay, but yet maybe lighter schedule and no bosses screaming in your ear, or maybe better customers or what ever, its the same situation but people do it all the time.

Um guys, by definition we are ALL marks.
It's just a matter of where you fall on the Honk-a-meter of fandom.
And why is calling someone a "mark" a bad thing. It would be like going up to someone in Wal-Mart and yelling "Hey consumer"... nothing too bad there.
We all mark out for someone - that's why we watch.
Of course there are those 13-17 year old people out there that come on here and try to get themselves "over" by being, well, as dumb as 13-17 year olds can be.
Wouldn't it be better to focus on the good stuff in wrestling - ALONG WITH LIFE?
I am sick of the people posting on here (and some of the columnists) being so negative. If you stopped loving wrestling than quit watching. Move on to something else.
A good show is one that let's you suspend disbelief.. and please.. don't start with the "they insult our intellegence" argument.
We are talking about a "sport" where some men have painted their faces (and still do) and lower themselves from the ceiling... we had a wrestling porn star turned PMRC. Transvestites, A few "giants" (but only one Andre)... Gorgeous George (the original not Macho's old gf.).
Wrestling should be FUN. It doesn't have to resemble Chris Berman saying "The frozen tundra of Lambeau field".
For crying out loud, quit taking it so serious...
No matter if HHH is pinning Cena, or Angle is pinning Jarrett, or if some spot monkey in ROH is pinning another spot monkey in ROH - IT'S ALL A WORK. THEY ALL KNOW WHO WILL WIN WHEN THEY GO OUT THERE... AND... AND... AND - it's ok that way. It's what we love about wrestling.

LUCID: i think you missed the point of my post. i wasnt defending the WWE, i was questioning foley's decision to go to TNA. and yes, i read the results for bound for glory, because as i stated, i had no real interest in watching the ppv, due to the fact that i didnt really care about anyone on the card. i still however, like to keep my information current in case something happens that does peak my interest. i'd really like to enjoy tna, i have in the past...i just can't seem to stomach anything they're producing lately. and for future reference, posting a comment is a way to convey our opinions, this whole "set them straight" thing is getting old, and just because you throw the word "mark" around doesn't make your opinions any better than anyone elses. peace.

I like TNA and WWE but why can't TNA stop relying on WWE and former WCW wrestlers all of the time like Mick Foley to help get interst for their show.TNA should do the same thing that WWE is doing.
