TNA Invites Sarah Palin To Final Resolution
Posted by Ashish on 11.11.2008

TNA sent out this press release today.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION (TNA) WRESTLING INVITES ALASKA GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN TO JOIN "THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE"

TNA ANNOUNCES SPECIAL "SARAH PALIN CEREMONY" FOR DECEMBER 7 AT ITS "FINAL RESOLUTION" PAY-PER-VIEW IN ORLANDO. TNA AGREES TO DONATE $50,000 TO GOV. PALIN'S FAVORITE CHARITY OR ALASKAN YOUTH HOCKEY LEAGUE.

palin2.jpgTotal Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling has announced that it is formally inviting Alaska governor and former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin to become an honorary member of "The Beautiful People," the elite group of TNA Knockouts led by Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.

TNA officials said a "Sarah Palin Ceremony" is scheduled for December 7 at its "Final Resolution" pay-per-view as part of her "Honorary TNA Knockout" membership in The Beautiful People, and TNA President Dixie Carter will personally fly Gov. Palin and her husband, Todd, from their home in Anchorage to Orlando, Florida, for the December event.

TNA Wrestling will make the formal invitation to Gov. Palin Thursday, November 13, on "TNA iMPACT!" at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Spike.

TNA will present Gov. Palin with a $50,000 check at "Final Resolution" made out to the charity of her choice, or will make the donation to the youth hockey association in her native Wasilla, Alaska.

"Governor Palin has combined her experiences as a wife and mother with her political savvy to prove to America and the world that politics aren't just a man's game. I know firsthand what challenges you have to face when breaking a glass ceiling in a male-dominate profession," Carter said.

The stars of TNA Wrestling can be seen for two hours each and every Thursday night on "TNA iMPACT!" (9 p.m. ET/PT, Spike). The TNA roster features Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, TNA World Heavyweight Champion Sting, Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Christian Cage, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe, among others.

Well, there goes any desire I once had to watch TNA.

Gosh darnit, I hope she gets booed out of the doggone buildin'. You betcha. Wink wink.

she has pledged to show up only if TNA provides her with a whole new wardrobe and $25 000 000 in taxpayer money that she can waste to build a TNA PPV to Nowhere.

Ahahaha.

How the hell can you mock RAW-dance offs now, oh dear TNA marks?

Who the fuck thought that would be a good idea? Can't we get rid of this bitch once and for all.

TNA must not want to sell PPVs anymore.

A better choice for TNA would have been to invite Obama and Biden to join the Main Event Mafia. Who better to represent mambers of the old guard who will hold people down while claiming they are only trying to "help" them. It's a perfect fit.

TNA does not understand how hated this woman is. America hates that woman and not in a way that they would pay to see her. We got tired of watching her for free for God's sake!

"the elite group of TNA Knockouts led by Angelina Love and Velvet Sky."

More like the entire group, unless they're counting their fag hairdresser Kip.

I'd smash the hell out of Sky, though.

People, it's called publicity. Everyone knows Palin's not going to show up, but even if a few news outlets pick up the story as a novelty, TNA wins. If former "casual fans" read the last line and see Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, Sting, etc. are part of TNA, they might be inclined to check out the show. And what would this publicity cost TNA? Nothing.

Some on. Enough with the same old tired smark complaints.

The comments on this page tell me the liberals are kind of less than thrilled with this idea and that the conservatives are dipshits.

Do you really think your taxes are going to be raised that drastically? Do you think your money is going to go directly to a bunch of drunken bums on the street? Idiots.

I'm pretty sure some things in Washington will change, for instance:

* no outing of a CIA agent for retribution
* no invading of a country on exaggerated or flat-out false pieces of information
* no Vice President shooting a friend in the face
* programs that will help children instead of leaving them behind
* less use of fear to scare people into supporting something that isn't well thought out and has no exit strategy
* no attacks on one's patriotism if he/she doesn't agree with the administration's way of thinking
* no one claiming the be a uniter when in fact they will cause an even larger rift between parties
* less use of religion or just plain stupid beliefs to justify vetoing certain pieces of legislation
* a world where humans and fish can co-exist peacefully

first off i don't like the idea BUT a more things has to happen for me to get irrate about this. TNA did this whole invitation thing to Bob Knight and nothing came out of it, maybe the same happens here. If she shows, and just is in the crowd, not invovled in any matches, not taking up a mountain of time from the wrestlers then no harm, no foul seeing as 50 g's would go to a charity.

And boy will dixie's arms be tired!

Seriously, this is worse than all the tenn. Titans and resigning team 3d. If tna wants to succeed, this isn't the way to do it. Sure they'll get some publicity, but what does it do for them? Not much

this is actually brilliant.

If there is anything ANYONE in wrestling can do to increase ratings (sure they want her to be at the PPV but announcing that they are inviting her might actually be mentioned outside of TNA), it's invite Sarah Palin. I hate her but she also increases the ratings whereever she goes.

She's wasted enough time on a dying campaign. Does she really want to waste even more time on a dying "wrestling" company?

This is a pathetic attempt at publicity and ever sadder is the fact that based off the type of person Palin appears to be, she might do it!

...and before all you conservatives start bitching, that comment has nothing to do with politics. Just go back and listen to the woman speak!

Brilliant, can someone get this morons IP address and forward this on to the FBI? Wishing harm on the president isn't exactly a bringht thing to do in public.
Oh, BTW, how much do you people bitching about your taxes actually make? And do you realize the your Republican god Ronald Regan raised taxed 11 times. The tax rate for the wealthy was 50% under old Ronny, Obama wants to raise it to 39%. Ooooh, I'm sure you will be starving now. Greedy morons.

More on topic, while I to think the idea is kinda stupid, if it gets publicity thats all that matters.

Posted By: DC (Guest)  on November 11, 2008 at 02:40 PM

The only publicity it will generate is on wrestling boards. Ratings will increase zero... you fools!

Hey Zingy,

A lot of your points were obviously pertaining to the war and I respect that. There was a lot that could have been doen differently. But a lot of your bullet points can be also applied to "cap-and-trade" and the coming massive government regulation of carbon emissions. Watch the left use the same tactics you rail against in your post to promote cap-and-trade. A disaster in the making for the US economy if it is passed.

That's sad...to think, Turning Point was so good. I guess Russo was sick, and now he's working overtime.

Anyway, $50000, really? I mean, I don't pretend to know much about booking a wrestling show, but....damn.

If I had $50000 to spend on a PPV I might try and get...oh, I dunno...RIC FLAIR?

Hell, for $50000 they could probably sign Elijah Burke or Paul London for a year.

Jesus TNA, you somehow manage to drop the ball again, and again, and again.

Either this is complete genius or complete shit, either way, this will probably be funny.

Lghten up guys, Sarah Palin is a joke, but she is a media magnet. If this was Final Resolution NEXT YEAR, then sure, it would be stupid. However, this is the most current they could have been on this.

Have some fun would ya, It's not like she is wrestling Awesome Kong or anything (but hey... that would be awesome).

WWE sheep will trash anything TNA does, it's just the way it works. They'll jump on people for bashing WWE and call them losers and assholes yet they do they exact same thing to TNA, fucking hypocrites.

Whether you like Palin or not is irrelevant, the fact is that she is a HUGE draw right now.

This isn't some small time NFL player with a bad reputation like Pacman Jones that no one gives a fuck about, Sarah Palin is universally recognized and the media is still all over her.

If this gets TNA one small mention on CNN it's a great success.

You all bash TNA's ratings but then you bash them for trying to do something about it.

Like it or not, the women is news. This could very well get them mentoined on CCN, NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, FoxNews and other news/entertainment stations. Plus it could actually be good publicity for her too, she could spin that they apperance was to raise the money for charity.

This could work...it's not much differant than WWE using Donald Trump.

you must be in the range of people who make over $250 000 per year, which is the only group to face higher taxes. the middle class is FINALLY going to get some tax relief outside bullshit stimulus cheques funded by borrowing even more money from Saudi Arabia and China.

you must really love america if you are so willing to sell it out to middle east countries that breed terrorists who want to kill you and the last great communist state.

yea...laugh at the liberals, but it was the conservatives that sold the us out to the banks and treasuries of nations bent on destrying you.

Brilliant, can someone get this morons IP address and forward this on to the FBI? Wishing harm on the president isn't exactly a bringht thing to do in public. "

actually, it is a felony to threaten a President or President-Elect of the United States (including the VP and VP-Elect,) regardless of if the threat is made in jest or is serious. It does hold a minimun of (i believe) 5 years mandatory on conviction, and all anyone would have to do is notify the FBI or Homeland Security of the actual post.

not only that, but 411mania could actually find itself under investigation as an accomplice after the fact for actually posting the comment in the first place instead of reporting the IP address to the appropriate authorities.

of course, as i am a Canadian, i can only assume that Americans are smart enough to know their own laws regarding threats to the president and president-elect. (http://uscode.house.gov/download/pls/18C41.txt US Code, Title 18,871 - Threats against the President and successors to the Presidency.)

and no...just because this is an internet site and a wrestling comments section doesn't at all mean that if the proper authorities were notified that nothing would be done. they take threats to the President and President-Elect seriously.

good job to the editors on this one.
