WWE News: Cost Cutting, McMahon Making Money, and More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.01.2008
Lots of Monday WWE news!
- The company will be doubling up on Smackdown tapings as much as possible, at least through Wrestlemania, and at that point they will evaluate how well this is working. This, along with recent releases is being done as a way to cut $20-million dollars in expenses out of the budget. On the side of the wrestlers, they will make less money per month. Lower card guys will lose out on around $1,000 a month, while upper card talent will stand to lose upwards of several thousand a month with the only upside being two extra days off a month. By doubling up on tapings, the company will save about $696,000 in production expenses twice a month, not including the money saved from the talent working less.
- The quarterly dividend Vince McMahon is getting from his WWE stock is $11,451,255, with an annual dividend of $45,805,020.
- Tomko has re-signed with the company, but there is no start date announced for him as of now.
- Umaga is planned to return to the Smackdown brand and feud with the Undertaker.
- Gail Kim is expected to debut on the Smackdown brand.
- With the feeling that Steve Austin will be a part of WrestleMania 25, and with the recent drama between WWE and Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling, the feeling is that Hogan will not be a part of Wrestlemania 25 because the company "doesn't need him."
Those last 4 newsbits are all great. Well, if you don't mind Austin's uselessness at this point.
VIVA LA TOMKO!

As much as we can hate on Vince - anyone else here get 11 million (assuming I read that right) per QUARTER??? That dude has done very very well, for himself, and us, as fans.
Just hand it over to HHH now and we can have the return of WARGAMES

WWE's having fun with people who went from WWE to TNA back to WWE. I bet that sooner or later like D'Lo Brown you won't see nor care about any of them.
So expect Ron Killings, Gail Kim, Tomko to do little to nothing and Christian to do something but NEVER win the World or WWE title. Maybe ECW, maybe ECW.
I know this site is extremly pro WWE but what the hell its my opinion

It's lucky for Taker that Umaga can bump like crazy for a guy his size, the guy's been moving in slo-mo for the past year.

Tomko? Are they gonna pair him up with Christian yet again?

How is this web site "pro WWE"? You sir are a useless fucking tool.
They post more WWE stuff because it is the number one company in the country. If you took ten seconds to look the fuck around they have columns specifically devoted to Ring of Honor, TNA, and indy feds. They post news items on all three of the top companies in America right now. What the hell more do you want them to do? Should they start focusing solely on TNA or ROH? TNA can't pull half the fans WWE can and therefore the high traffic they see now would certainly be cut in half if they cut out the WWE news items and columns. Saying this site is pro WWE isn't an opinion it's an uneducated statement you pulled out of your ass you imbecile!

Best news I've heard in awhile. On both fronts.
Wrestlemaina 25 WITH Austin = WIN!
Wrestlemania 25 WITHOUT Hogan = EPIC WIN!
BTW, good for Vince. Fuck Hogan. Wrestlemania 25 will still do HUGE buys without him.
It's fucking Wrestlemania. The show sells itself without needing Hogan to come in, do nothing but cut the same lame promo he's been cutting for the last 20 years, then job out somebody on the roster that is surely more talented a wrestler than he ever dreamed of being. Then cashing in his huge paycheck and going back home to continue to live off of his kids.

Since WWE wants nothing to do with anyone thats appeared on Hogan's CCW, I assume that RVD is no longer welcome back.
Thats too bad.

well you just proved this site is extremely pro wwe, this site itself may not be pro wwe in the sense of news stories but the comments in all these sections ESPECIALLY any story regarding tna is extremely pro wwe, if i had a nickel for every time one of you freaked the fuck out about how much russo and tna suck and you'll never watch them again because they went ahead and did this at the tapings before you even see the damn show well i'd be making what vinnie mac is getting the quarter dividend off his stock

your response EPIC FAIL
hogan made wrestling no matter what you smarts want to say about ric flair and all that, ric flair is a bitch we've heard it throughout so many shoots hogan made wrestling, give the man some credit because with him vince made it mainstream with out him, well you'd have backlund and the iron sheik

Tomko = Christian coming back!
Seems like the wwe roster are going to be losing out on a shed load of cash... lowercard guys losing out on $1000 that is ridiculous! I could understand like max $200 but that is a hefty loss.
Posted By: Andrew Barbarash (Guest) on December 01, 2008 at 01:54 AM
Hogan may have made wrestling what it is today, but that doesn't change the fact that he has no business being at WrestleMania 25.
Unless it's Nick Hogan getting the crap beat out of him in a legit handicap match against one of his cellmates and the brother of the kid he paralyzed, I don't ever need to see a Hogan on WWE television again, thank you.

How did I prove it exactly? My statement wasn't as much pro WWE as it was anti idiot douche bags such as yourself whining about the web site being pro WWE. If you meant the comments are pro WWE then you should have said that.
People hate on TNA here, but people hate on WWE and ROH as well, it's what we love to do here in the Internet Wrestling Community. But my point is don't degrade the web site that gives a voice to TNA, ROH, PWG, and a lot of the other small federations that don't get much love, hate on the stupid fucks who jump to conclusions about said promotions decisions.

Carnivore, your original rant was a little unnecessary don't you think? You really went off on one over a small comment the guy made.
Posted By: Guest#7090 (Guest) on December 01, 2008 at 03:36 AM
Good. The WWE doesn't need Hogan to have a good Wrestlemania. They've proven that in the past and they can prove it again.

Wrestling was doing just fine without him, thank you. It's because of him that wrestling became synonymous with a circus-like cartoon show in the eyes of the mainstream. Did he make it popular? He helped but it never needed to be popular to begin with. It certainly doesn't mean he's entitled to whatever the hell he wants.

um......guys and gals
This site is pro WRESTLING!!
It covers WWE and TNA in a ton of detail, ROH is a reasonable amount and provides enough coverage to keep me up to date with whats going on in Japan, IWC and PWG, the only company I feel it does not cover enough is Chikara

I don't doubt Hogan's impact on the business and I respect what he did in helping turn WWE/F into a jauggernaut of a federation. But like someone else just said. Wrestlemania 25 doesn't need him. Nor does any future WWE event. Hogan may still be a draw, but he offers NOTHING in terms of wrestling and the overall product as WWE likes to say. Him doing his "comebacks" offer nothing to the current product and the growth of the company. All they do is allow Vince to pad his pockets with a little more money and allow guys like you to mark out like it was 1985 all over again. Seriously do you want Hogan to come in and burry another guy for no other reason than to get paid? It's time to move on, Hogan's day is done.
BTW, I never brought up Ric Flair. I don't know where you got that from. Sounds like you hate him though, so good for you. I hate Hogan, you hate Flair...........
Good times, good times.

Seriously, someone really needs to tell us if RVD re-signed
Posted By: Guest#2521 (Guest) on December 01, 2008 at 09:42 AM
They could have a "Texas Triple Threat" of Austin vs. HBK vs. Taker at WM25... I reckon it'd be good
And No he hasn't, please shut the fuck up about it.

FUCK HOGAN! Nobody needs him. And fuck that stupid, dumb-ass non-wrestling show he's doing too.

Hmmm... I guess as a result we will have to label your poorly spelled putdown as..............

Andrew Barbarash - the lower card gets north of $75k per year. that is over twice as much as the average person in the US. No doubt that any loss is a hit, but let's not feel too sorry for someone who has out spent their paycheque, but can still afford to eat when the numbers of those who under spend their paycheque and still can't afford to eat is climbing.

if this site is pro wrestling why is it covering wwe which is trying to distance itself from wrestling and be percieved as 'entertainment'
:P
Posted By: graant (Guest) on December 01, 2008 at 03:30 PM
"Hogan made wrestling"
No no...Hogan made "entertainment"...hence why we're watching John Cena do the basic same thing, just as a MUCH better wrestler than Hogan could ever dream to be. I'm not a big Cena fan, but he's better "wrestler" now than Hogan was, hands down. Entertainer, Hogan was better in his prime, back in the later 80s. Personally though, I'll take some old school NWA/WCW and watch wrestling as it should be, over what we're seeing today, as quasi-entertaining as it is.

I agree with you, but I also understand former WWE wrestlers who go to TNA only come back to WWE for the financial reasons like families which is understandable. It's just a shame like a guy like Christian will go from TNA world champ to maybe if hes lucky WWE US Champ or Edge lackey.

carnivore - do you eat your your young? Are you a member of nambla? Do you want to be a mamber of the vinnie ass-kissing club? Would you also suck him off to show your wwf loyalty? Will you pull the opinion out of guest #4622's ass to complete the circle jerk you obviously have for vinnie?
Posted By: black like me (Guest) on December 01, 2008 at 06:47 PM
I, like many out there, grew up loving Hogan. But even I have to say he has no business being at WM25.My issue with him now is he can barely walk let alone 'wrestle' anymore. For all the Flair haters out there you at least have to admit he could still pull off a watchable match at his age with the right opponent, something Hogan can't do anymore.
As far as Austin is concerned he'll be what he is, and in Texas will work just fine.
And as far as 411 being a pro WWE sight all I can say is, whether anyone likes it or not, WWE is the number one wrestling promotion on the planet. And with that comes more attention from the media! It doesn't mean this sight thinks WWE does no wrong or has all the top wrestlers. If some of you would read more articles on 411 you'd see pros and cons for all promotions. In fact they do a nice job of covering pro wrestling world wide. If TNA were number one than they would get most of the coverage.Just don't bitch if the writers prefer WWE over TNA or RoH or anything else. Calm down guys!

Dumbest Comment of the Year! First, if he is cashing a big paycheck why would he need to live off his kids. Second, what the fuck can his two retarded children make in 10 years that he couldn't make in 30 seconds in some lame geicko ad. Think mcfly before you post.
