WWE News: Joey Styles and JBL Fight in Iraq

Oh my God…
During the recent trip to Iraq, JBL was harassing former WWE announcer and now WWE.com head Joey Styles. JBL was basically bullying him, being rude, condescending and also spilling a drink on Styles at one point. JBL seemed to target Styles since it was his first trip with the company to Iraq, something Styles was looking forward too. Many people in the company don't like when JBL does these things, but they feel that they have to deal with it due to the fact that he is a tenured veteran and has a lot of political stroke backstage.
After a few days on the tour, JBL (who was drinking) did something to Styles that upset him so much that he physically retaliated. Several wrestlers tried to break up the situation, but JBL broke free. This is when Styles threw a punch that not only laid out JBL, but also blackened his eye. Many within the company feel that this is karma, due to the fact that JBL has "hazed" people for years, including the Blue Meanie beat down at the first "One Night Stand" as well as the European Tour where Smackdown talent Palmer Cannon quit the company due to the actions of JBL
This was the talk of the locker room last night at Raw. JBL was reportedly very out of character, as he was quiet and subdued backstage. Styles tried to downplay the entire incident when people brought it up. Most feel that this is a double embarrassment for JBL, first of all because he got punched out by an announcer, and secondly because he is very instrumental in setting up the Iraq tours.

How can Joey get in trouble for this? JBL provoked him and then attacked him and Styles just defended himself. I think maybe JBL took exception to the fact that maybe he wasn't getting as much credit for the Tribute to the Troops as usual, but that is a bunch of grabage that JBL was hazing a guy that has been in the industry as Joey has. Man, that made my day.
I'm expecting Styles to see some heat for this from someone (not necessarily talent, but probably Vince, since he's pals with JBL and doesn't seem to like Styles very much...and cause WWE is thoroughly ass-backwards when it comes to this sort of thing), but I'm glad someone stood up to JBL and knocked him the fuck out one good time.
Even if Joey does end up getting in trouble for this, it's known (mainly from WWE basically begging him to work for them) that he does not need WWE in the slightest bit, anyway, and is not afraid to walk away. He'll be all right either way, and he's got bragging rights for the rest of his life.

Do not forget, Joey Styles is the Original Voice of ECW and for him as an announcer to know every wrestling moveset by every ECW wrestler, they had to show him what it looks like and its name.
The boys in the back probably taught him a few moves or he has a martial arts background (RVD, Taz, Saturn and Cronus, Yoshihiro Tajiri, and others comes to mind).
Being around that much hardcore had to rub off on him and would one day use it in a situation like this. If this is true, then his ECW credibility and respect by both wrestlers and announcers has risen to an astronomical level.

Holly is differnt it's his job to break the rookies in, to make sure they have the discipline to take it and that they care about the buisness, Holly expect to be stiffed back. Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton got a lot better in the ring thanks to their fueds with Hardcore, he's old school, like Stu Hart and Harley Race.
JBL is just a bully, he isn't supposed to be an obstacle for the young guys, and he doesn't want or expect to get hit hard back. JBL is a prima donna.

This is the funniest and greatest wrestling news in years. Jericho/Goldburg was funny but at least it's still 2 wrestlers, plus Joey's from the real ECW makes it even better JBL is a great character but a he's also a bully & a third-rate Stan Hansen wannabe.
