Great news for TNA. It always add's authenticity to a wrestling company when their wrestlers are recognised champions of other organisations I think, especially a company as big and recognisable as New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Sounds awesome. Will this entire match selection be released on DVD anywhere?
I know there's meant to be another Global Impact but that will only focus on the TNA stars matches wont it? They're good enough but that entire show sounds class.

Team 3D are now 21x Tag Team Champions.
8x World Tag Team Champions (Raw)
8x ECW Tag Team Champions
1x WCW Tag Team Champions (Invasion)
1x WWE Tag Team Champions (Smackdown)
1x NWA Tag Team Champions (TNA)
1x TNA Tag Team Champions (Named 1st champs after the split from the NWA)
1x IWGP Tag Team Champions
And they are the only team to win all of those titles from all those different companies.

I would KILL to own this dvd. Maybe now the people calling for Keijo Muto's head saying he's only out for himself and not the good of the company can shut up for awhile. Or at least until he defeats Tanahashi in a rematch.

For those wondering, yes, the entire show will be available on DVD at various Puroresu DVD outlets, such as IVP Videos.

Ugh on the Liger match and Ki/Tiger getting shafted on the time. The last two matches look so fun on paper though. The main was 30:22.

Sounds like a great show to kick off the new year for New Japan, good to see MCMG get the junior tag straps and Tanahashi getting the rub from Muto.

Id love to have this DVD. Thank goodness Tana won. no doubt TNA will try to get him back and capitalize on his win.

Guess we'll see if the rumors are true about Low-ki, heard this was his last match, reason why he dropped the the title, before he signs on the dotted line to head to the WWE!!!
Also no RVD in Japan?!? Godzilla=epic win!

i thought the tag title match that 3D won was supposed to be a triple threat match, no tenkoji?
Posted By: Joe (Guest) on January 04, 2009 at 02:05 PM
I'm pretty surprised to hear the TNA guys won all their matches. Hopefully Shelley adds the X Division title to the the tag title he won tonight. I hope they show all three matches on Global Impact.

Joe: "i thought the tag title match that 3D won was supposed to be a triple threat match, no tenkoji?"
It was supposed to be a triple threat hardcore match, but Hiroyoshi Tenzan suffered a serious eye injury and had to get immediate surgery.

Believe it or not they also did a post match angle, with Giant Bernard and Kurt
Posted By: Kev (Guest) on January 04, 2009 at 04:10 PM
good to see MCMG gettin the titles while tna keeps them on beermoney, the lamest tag team in 4 years

Kev: "Believe it or not they also did a post match angle, with Giant Bernard and Kurt "
Yep. And Angle said he wants to half-murder Bernard...whatever "half-murder" means.
Alex Shelley has said that they welcome challenges from any New Japan team looking to take their newly won belts, but they'd have to come to TNA to do it.

Duh I thought Brother (Bubba) Ray was put out of action by MEM Guess nobody is supposed to know that in the land of the rising sun heh, How's Russo gonna explain this on TNA when they hype 3-Ds 21st tag title win or will they just not mention it for A while, This is just one more case where TNA fucked up again and not thought 3 steps ahead. TNA could be something good or even great with the right writers FUCK Russo he sucks and his recycled WWE and WCW shit is whats holding this company back.... Dixie Carter may want to think about her and Jarretts investment in the company and get rid of him,and QUICKLY its 2009 now so there is still time to make this year something special or it may be their last year and then all we will have to watch is the same Vince McManakin will continue to throw at us week in and weekout!

i was at this show at the dome last night, awesome event, awesome seats 9 rows back from ringside not sure how the atmosphere will translate on screen as opposed to live tho.
Crowd popped like crazy for Tanahashi winning he called out nakamura at the end which got a good reaction.
Everyone was buzzing over tana after the show especially the girls, lines of people queing up to pose in front of his poster outside the dome, really hope new japan use him properly he could be THE guy

After seeeing the bad night GBH had, here's to hoping they start showing signs of dissention (their eventual breaking up would give Anderson an excuse to return to the States and start getting the big indy push he deserves).
