Jim Ross Discusses Jeff Hardy, The Smackdown Divas, Legend’s Roundtable, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 01.04.2009

- Jim Ross has another blog entry up on his website, here are some of highlights:

On Jeff Hardy's Face Paint: Jeff Hardy's face paint has given the WWE Champion a distinctive look. The paint may be reminiscent to some fans of the Warrior, Sting, Road Warriors, the Great Muta etc but it feels new again to me. I expect fans to start paint their faces and one would think that the WWE might even come out with a Hardy mask ala the Rey Mysterio masks that are now available. Jeff is really "hot" right now.

On the Smackdown Divas: The potential of the Friday Night Smackdown Divas feels somewhat untapped to me but the change in demeanor for Michelle McCool feels like the WWE is doing the right thing with her persona. The fans in Jersey last week responded well to McCool's antics which means that particular live audience made an emotional investment in the character which is the first step in any successful, creative process. In theory, the Smackdown Divas should be able to contribute more to the broadcasts if they are presented with opportunity and take advantage of it.

On Another Legends Roundtable: It looks as if the Legends Roundtable is back on for a January taping. I'm not 100% sure of who will be on the panel but the guests will discuss African Americans in Wrestling and Texas Wrestling Stars and Promotions. Hopefully, Bombastic Bill, the large Cowboy, Bill Watts will be involved in this effort as he always has plenty to say.

On His Old AM Radio Show: I talked to my old friend Dennis Brent today and Dennis is planning on making the old radio shows I did years ago on AM750 WSB available to fans sometime in 2009. I had a great time hosting "Wrestling with Jim Ross" on Sunday nights back in the day and had many great guests on the show. We took calls throughout the hour as well from fans. The guest list back in those days really reads like a who's who and luckily Dennis, who lives near Dallas, Texas with his wife Lynn, had the foresight to record all those shows. I don't even have copies of all of them myself. They only aired one time so they would be new content for many fans. Dennis is looking to establish a website to feature many of the photos, video and audio tapes he personally shot and recorded, and printed programs from a variety of wrestling territories that die hard and long time fans should really enjoy.

Untapped, eh? I'm sure he didn't really specify who, because he probably meant Nattie and Victoria, the two best workers on the Blue brand, but in case Vince read it he would think "YEP EVEN JR APPRECIATES MICHELLE MCCOOL AND THE BELLA TWINS, THEY'RE SURE SWELL."

It's such a shame that Victoria is perfectly happy with her current role. Not because I don't want her to be happy, it's just that she's so talented, she should be leading the Divas, not jobbing to the shitty workers every week and carrying the match.

And apparently Nattie's got heat with McMichelle who's fucking 'Taker, therefore Nattie gets auto-buried. Fucking bullshit. At least Triple H and Undertaker are talented.

Jeff is SO HOT right now. I have a bromance with Jeff Hardy. His face paint makes the good side of my face quiver. Now go out and buy some of my delicious slobberque.

JR is correct.

Michelle has the potential to be a great heel , hopefully she does very well.

After all , she's the only talented diva on Smackdown.

"Jeff Hardy's face paint has given the WWE Champion a distinctive look."

Yeah, that look is called "gay clown."

In all seriousness, I don't expect the facepaint thing to click with kids because of one simple reason. Jeff never paints himself the same way twice. Couple that with random designs shaved into his beard and ever-changing hair colors and it's hard to relate to the guy. Wrestlers who painted themselves in the past and connected with fans through that at least kept it to certain colors or designs. It was always familiar. Each week Jeff is different and thus each design is very forgettable.

If Jeff wants to see kiddies painting themselves every week in support of him he needs to find one design or a certain combination of colors and always stick to them. They can't latch on if there's nothing to latch onto.

It's still all about Michelle. She's the HHH of the Divas. She doesn't have the title anymore but it's all about her. She better pray the day never comes when Taker starts bangin Maryse like he should be.

Untapped=Natalya..hopefully she'll get drafted or moved before that to RAW. Her vs. Beth would be epic.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did JR just hit on Jeff by calling him hot?

Ooh...another item to market to the kiddies. I guess PG is too harsh and G is around the corner. Woopti fucking doo!

I like how you assume that Michelle McManjaw is a diva. She's got a Chyna face and thus most likely has a penis.

You're right. Michelle is the most talented diva on SD!... right behind Victoria, Nattie, Maryse and Maria.

Sting had face paint that changed all the time. Of course his were designs and not just a thrown together sort of look.
