Update on WWE Superstars
Posted by Larry Csonka on 01.05.2009

- Broadcasting and Cable has an article up on the return of WW Superstars to WGN. Here are some of the details:

* WWE Superstars will debut in April.
* WWE Superstars will be a first run show, which means it will not be a magazine or clip style show, but more like a Sunday Night Heat or Velocity style show.
* WWE Superstars will air at 8PM and then again at 11PM on Thursday nights.
* There will be a Saturday replay of the show, during the middle of the day.
* WWE and WGN have agreed to a two-year deal for the show.
* The Tribune Company, which is the parent company to WGN, is paying a licensing fee to WWE for the show.
* The Tribune Company finalized the deal after they had filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
* The deal for WWE Superstars only includes WGN, and none of the other 23 stations the Tribune compnay owns, but they didn't rule out the possibility of expanded distribution down the road.

Jobbers! wohoo!...can't wait. Velocity actually had some real good matches so it should be interesting.

This used to be the Gangrel show.

Get ready for the roll out of "The WWE thinks so little of TNA as comp that they are putting their "D" show full of jobbers squashes against Impact!" comments......

There you go...I've already done it for you....so don't do it....(who am I kidding?..)

Sweet, now that dude that keeps bitching about how SmackDown! should be on Thursday will finally have a show.

Its nice to see that Miz and Morrison will have a 4th show to appear on every week. Maybe they will actually defend the tag titles on this show.

You'd have a really great point there, Industry, except that WWE Superstars will go on at 8 pm, and then again at 11 pm. When is Impact on? 9-11 pm. SO what have we learned? Considering this new WWE show will very likely NOT be 2 hours, but just one, like every "D show" they have EVER done (including, you know, the original Superstars show), your point is invalid and/or garbage.

c'mon now. with some of the low numbers ECW has pulled in, do you really think they want to put this even less important new show against anything resembling competition? didn't think so. it's a good move on Vince's part to take advantage of those people who look for a random show every week to watch at 8 before Impact is on, myself included

So... Another ECW?

Yay, I dont get WGN either! Having 200 channels and none of the ones WWE is on is awesome!

I guess you "owned" me on this here cool thing known as the internet with my "garbage" statement......especially since WGN is a Central time zoned station and Impact is a Eastern Time zoned station..... so just maybe....just MAYBE they may come at the sametime after all....if not, then I'll let you win another one so you can look cool here in the comment section....

I must've spoiled your comment... a thousand apologies my good sir....

And...Superstars was never actually a "D" show... maybe a "B" or a "C" (depends on how you rate Wrestling Challenge, Prime Time Wrestling, and so on..)...... But make it no never mind... continue being the cool and witty person that you are...

Here's to hoping for weekly segments of The Dirt Sheet, or Santino's Casa....a la the days of The Barber Shop, Piper's Pit, The Snake Pit, The Funeral Parlor...whatever Brother Love's interview segment was...

Posted By: Guest#0029 (Guest)  on January 05, 2009 at 11:07 AM

It's probably eastern time since its on WGN's national channel, not local. That would make sense since the replay would be at 8 pacific time/11 eastern.
Superstars/Challenge were pretty much B shows. Primetime was the A show, but they never had any big matches except for SNME and PPV's in the 80's. Very rarely (like once a year) did they actually "give away" a quality match (title change) on Superstars or Challenge. WCW changed that forever....

Well, at least we'll finally get to see Scotty Goldman. This show has him written all over it.

Posted By: Ramsey (Guest)  on January 05, 2009 at 01:28 PM

hey Industry..."D show" were your words, not mine...hence the quotation marks...as for the other shit you said...see PGD's comment for my reasoning...regardless though, I guess we'll see for sure when the show debuts...'til then, enjoy your flood of unneeded ellipsis...but just so you know, periods increase your efficiency...and ability to not look like an r-tard...by two-thirds...

yeah, and I'm sure Vince would want Superstars to beat Impact EVERY WEEK OMFG also. so why the fuck would he put it head to head with TNA? why lose even .1 in the ratings?

you're the dumbass, what are you even trying to argue here?

Dude!!!!

That's my job!!!!!

Awwww man, How will I get people to think that I'm cool now?????

---------------------------------------

Maybe if you would have just kept your big mouth shut and read the next news post after this one you would have read:

"WWE Superstars is scheduled to air on Thursday nights at 8 and 11pm ET with an additional run on the weekend"

The key letters in that last paragraph are E and T which stands for Eastern Time.

So maybe, just maybe, there is NO CHANCE IN HELL of Superstars competing w/ TNA.

So there ya go "Industry" (nice name). I guess you don't know as much as you like think but then again, judging from past posts, I think we all knew this.

Now, if only the other kids in your class could figure this out.........

Shut up, sprite.

And this show should be aired at noon like it used to be. If children are the target audience now, then air it on Saturday morning / afternoon.

finally a show worth of the useless talent that is rvd

Posted By: miloytheman (Guest)  on January 05, 2009 at 08:02 PM

I thought WWE banned the word Superstars. I thought we were using, "Entertainers."
