Very good for a recap show.

The year, was 2072.
Nuclear war had claimed a large portion of the earth's populace, man's foolishness finally brimming over until man nearly wiped himself from the face of the planet entirely.
Littered across the landscape were the insignias and signs of corporations, entities that once had meaning, these too all but laid waste by the war that had consumed the planet. It was not uncommon to see a tattered pair of golden arches, or a decimated Wal-Mart superstore as packs of scavengers traversed the landscape.
Oh, incidentally, on February 2nd, 2072, TNA Impact! scored a 1.0 rating.

Business as usual. Not bad for a best Of show. I thought the numbers would drop. Hopefully the numbers will go up this year.
I do think TNA needs to be careful with Kurt Angle. If he is on his way out this year as is rumored, it might be a good idea to cut back on his time and build other stars.
It's gonna hurt TNA if they keep going as is and he leaves. I'm a big fan of Angle's, but I also don't want to see TNA get hurt. The numbers I saw from the top 3 TNA PPV's of last year seem to suggest Joe is being misused right now.
Maybe it's time for badass Joe again. If he can't fight for the title because of that stupid stipulation, he should go after Angle.
Personally, I think Rhino ought to beat Sting for the title, even for a very brief reign. It will reward him for good recent work, end the Joe can't have a title shot crap and get Sting out of MEM or even end that waste of a story line.
Sting gets kicked out and Foley joins up (He is a three time world champ and MEM material). That makes the focus not just about the belt but control of TNA. There would be a big match for control in the next couple months, and that would be the end.
In my opinion, the current storyline is not really working. If it were, ratings would have gone to 1.3 by now and PPV buy rates would have gone up. Neither is happening from what I've seen.
I know the desire is to push young talent, but how is that talent getting beat down all the time a push? A.J. was at a higher point after the last man standing match with Angle than he is now and Joe was at a higher point as champ than he is n now.
If you want to push the younger talent, then push them already. Make A.J. champ and feud him with Joe. Have a younger guy beat Booker for that belt. Give the younger guys better material to make them interesting. Use Nash as the guy giving the younger guys rub as he did with Alex and Joe and others.
That's just my opinion, for whatever that's worth. I'll be watching this week anyway.

kurt angle is not goign anywhere.
wwe does not want him back after all the garbage he has said about them.
plus, wwe fired him because oif his pain pill addiction and his erratic behavior.
I know wwe has the wellness policy in place, but angle is not worth the risk plus he does not really draw money or ratings.
christian is a much better and safer hire for wwe.

I can't wait till WWE Superstars starts airing on Thursdays. Even though they won't be head to head, the ratings comparisons should make for some hillarity.

Goes to show you how much TNA sucks.
At this rate Spike will be cancelling TNA soon.
Too bad for you TNA fanboys.

TNA keeps getting similar ratings, week after week. No matter what they do, the same loyal fans watch each week, while other viewers periodically flip over during Knockouts matches. Have you all seen the quarterly breakdowns for Impact? I don't see why TNA even bothers signing these big names when they don't account for ratings. Maybe the house show gates and PPV buyrates tell a different story, but TNA could cut all of their big contracts without losing ratings. They pretty much only have some of the big names under contract to appease the Spike execs and keep Impact on the air. I'm telling you, TNA could lose Cage, Angle could go back to WWE, Sting could retire, and all of the wellness/drug violators on their roster could go to jail or rehab; and they'd still get a 1.0-1.3 rating (as long as The Beautiful People were featured prominently).
My suggestion for increasing Impact ratings? I'm not as mad as others about time spent on promos and vignettes. What grinds my gears is how they'll cut to a commercial just one minute into a match, after having spent several minutes pumping out generic entrance music and providing a laser show that maybe would've been cool in 1980.

HA HA!!!!
Just goes to show how shitty TNA is and how shitty their fans are!!!
Did I piss anyone off???

tna is doing fine in the ratings.
I hope kurt stays in tna because tna needs him more than wwe.
i doublt wwe wants him back after all the shit he has said about them since they fired him in 2006 over his drug addiction.
kurt is a hypocrite who talks out of both sides of his mouth like dixie carter so they deserve each other.

I totally doubt TNA will last in 2072. I doubt it will last in the next few years.
Posted By: lolz (Guest) on January 05, 2009 at 05:41 PM
That's not a bad rating considering it was a holiday show and there was only one first-run match.

Ted
A lot could happen between now and September when Kurt's TNA contract expires. Maybe things will change in TNA to the point in which Kurt will resign with them or maybe Kurt and Vince have spoken and settled their differences to the point in which WWE would take him back if Kurt chooses to go back.
And let's not forget that Vince McMahon does give many people second chances in the company. After all, he did resign Rena Mero (Sable) in 2003 after she sued the company for $100,000,000+ back in 1999.
Posted By: Rob Z (Guest) on January 05, 2009 at 06:40 PM
i hope kurt stays in tna because he does not deserve to be in wwe.
i know vince gave sable a second chance in 2003 but sable did not have drug issues.
she was just a bitch and kurt is a BASTARD WITH AN INFLATED EGO.
angle is not a draw and wwe could have the last laugh if they reject him and tell him to go to hell.

I'm beginning to think Mr. Nielson is on the sauce. There is no way Impact could do the same rating on both New Year's AND CHRISTMAS than they do usually.
It makes no sense...

Don't kid yourself, if WWE could take Angle back, they would. I don't think he needs to go back. He's doing fine in TNA, but they need to do a better job with Joe and A.J. TNA can and will get better ratings. I don't see it happening with the current storyline.

If a 1.0 show helps promote the product enough to create a profit who cares, it equals more wrestling on tv.

Gotta love them wwe marks hey morons their ratings stayed the same even with a best of show that says something of course we're dealing with WWE marks so its fun to make fun of their delusions.
Posted By: Guest#6679 (Guest) on January 06, 2009 at 01:06 AM
im willing to bet money that the highest rating a tna show will have this year is 1.2......maybe........haha i doubt it....

We own all the WWE programming! Mwahahahaha!

TNA will still exist in February of 2072? Epic cockroaches and TNA surviving the nuclear holocaust!! :o

Duh, IMPACT got moved to Tuesdays in 2056 when Viacom bought out NBC universal and the new Company ViaVersal wanted to have IMPACT as their flagship show but Vince wouldn't let them put it on Mondays so Tuesdays it was. Noobs don't know nothin...
Posted By: eric (Guest) on January 06, 2009 at 05:45 AM
TNA will be done in few years, because TNA has bad and same rating since start of tna company. Never will ever win over WWE's rating. What more TNA get new comer? Still suck company!
Posted By: WWE's fanny (Guest) on January 06, 2009 at 07:18 AM
TNA's stagnant ratings always seem to be open season for the clubbers, but it is a plus for TNA that they did receive an increase in viewership despite an industry decline. Impact's average viewership for 2008 was slightly up with a 2% gain from 2007. Raw dropped 9%, Smackdown dropped 12% and ECW dropped 16%.
I would think that slow growth would be better than big drops.

Hey Guest6679
If TNA fans can make fun of the "delusions" of WWE Fanboys, does that mean that WWE fans can make fun of the delusional TNA Fanboys? You know, those TNA Fanboys who claim that TNA will be the ones who put the WWE out of business forever? Hey fair is fair.
