Des Moines, IA 1/11/09
Really good crowd considering its a Sunday Night at an odd start time of 5 PM. They curtained off about 1/3rd of the arena, but the entire bottom level was full and the lower rows of the upper deck was full as well. I'd guess around 5,000, which is pretty good for Des Moines.
1. ECW Championship: Matt Hardy pinned Jack Swagger after a Twist of Fate
This was a great match, and hopefully a sign of what we get on Tuesday Night. Several near falls near the end. Swagger played his role to perfection with a crowd that didn't really seem to know who he was. He managed to turn them all against him pretty quick. Match got good time going about 10-15 minutes before Hardy picked up the win.
2. Women's Championship: Beth Phoenix pinned Melina after a Glam Slam
Beth dominated the action from start to finish. She really carried this match and actually made it quite watchable. Probably around 7 minutes. Almost a glorified squash. Very disappointed in the lack of Santino
3. World Tag Team Championship: John Morrison & The Miz defeated Cryme Tyme; Morrison pinned Shad after a Moonlight Drive
Miz and Morrison were actually pretty popular even with a crowd full of third graders. One of the funniest moments of the show came at the outset when the crowd was chanting and Miz gave them the shhh sign and mouthed "quit, I'm working." After Shad made the hot tag he cleaned house, but after clotheslining Miz to the floor he walked into the Moonlight Drive, which got the win.
4. Belfast Brawl: Finlay (w. Hornswoggle) pinned Mark Henry (w. Tony Atlas) after a shot with the shillelagh
Basically a garbage comedy match. Trash cans, kendo sticks, etc. Hornswoggle and Atlas got involved with Hornswoggle giving Atlas the tadpole splash. Henry came back in and threw Hornswoggle to the ground but turned around into Finlay who delivered a shot to the head with the shillelagh, which got the win. After the match Hornswoggle and Finlay brought some kids into the ring to celebrate.
5. Intercontinental Championship: William Regal pinned Kofi Kingston after a running knee
This match just didn't click. Regal did a lot of stalling in order to draw heat. One funny sequence saw Kofi chasing Regal around the ring. Regal tossed Layla into the ring in front of him and then rolled in himself. That allowed him to catch Kofi coming in. Then he went over to Layla to apologize, but she just turned and walked away. Finish was totally out of nowhere and Regal just ran at Kofi and kneed him in the head for the win. Basically it was Orton's punt, but with the knee.
6. Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes defeated Rey Mysterio & CM Punk after Orton pinned Mysterio with an RKO
This was a fantastic match. I would guess around 15-20 minutes long. Hilarious sequence at first with Orton getting into it with a fan at ringside. I actually thought Randy might hit the guy. He had been obnoxious all night. He was a grown man with signs at a house show. Finish of the match came after things had broken down Mysterio hit Cody with the 619 and springboard splash combo, but Cody wasn't the legal man. That allowed Orton to hit the RKO for the win.
7. World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena defeated Chris Jericho with the STFU
Jericho cut a long promo before the match. It was the standard Jericho promo chastising the crowd for being hypocrites and the like. Crowd ate it up and showered him with boos. Ridiculous pop for Cena, this was no split crowd. He was insanely over here in Des Moines. Another great match that got about 15-20 minutes. Basically it was the same finishing sequence as Armageddon with Cena trapped in the Walls of Jericho for about minute only to reverse into the STFU and get the immediate tap out.

Beth Phoenix had to carry Melina? Melina is a good worker who keeps up her end of the deal in there, so I'm not buying it.

but the TNA ppv was good tonight
even if you don't watch the ppv I would reccomend watching

Yes, you're right, that's a good point, I just noticed I ate all I had down here while watching the TNA Genesis PPV! And you should too, it kicked ass - except Mr. Ass, he still sucks.

No, Melina is an overrated performer who gets way too much credit and whose reason for why the IWC doesn't shit on her is because she isn't a product of the Diva Search.
I cannot remember one good match with her in it.

Who the hell wrote this review? They didn't know that Regal's knee is his finisher (hell he won the belt with the move!) and he doesn't even know who Sign Guy is! Revoke that asshole's wrestling fandom!

I was at the RAW/ECW house show in Winnipeg and it was the exact same thing that was written here. Down to the moves, with the exception Melina looked good against Beth...

That's the exact same card with the same results from Friday night in Winnipeg. The only difference is that in the main event, Chris Jericho was the one insanely over and he was able to counter the STFU into an enzeguri kick, but still fell victim minutes later to a 2nd FU by Cena. After the match, Jericho cut a super-face promo about being back home in Winnipeg and how the MTS Centre is the only arena in North America he's not being booed in. Long story short, Winnipeg is the only place you'll actually see the old "Y2J" again. He even did the ol' WINNIPEG IS JERICHOOOO!!! bit too.

I don't think that was the same guy, unless he cheers strictly on heel/face lines yet writes his report as neutral, with praise leaning toward the heels. This guy got into it with Morrison too, but in the Observer report the writer is positve toward Morrison.
