Chicano vs Chet the Jet, Savio Vega vs Joe Bravo and more!
IWA Puerto Rico Results for January 17th, 2009 from Bayamon, PR
- Chicano comes out to excuse El Niche from his match with Balbuena because someone attacked him backstage. Niche comes out hurt and decides to compete anyway. Chicano decides to stay in his corner.
- El Niche defeats Balbuena by pinfall at 9:33. The Dominican Revolution attack Niche, Chicano tries to make the save, but Joe Bravo attacks him. Chet "The Jet" Jablonski makes the save....then he attacks Chicano. Jablonski, a former IWA Tag Team Champion and former WWE developmental talent, seems to be the new hired gun of Team Malice (Dennis Rivera, Noel Rodriguez & Richard Rondon).
- Diabolico defeats "Ravishing" Richard Rondon by pinfall at 10:46. After the bout an enraged Rondon attacks Diabolico and locks him in the "Ravishing Crossface", leaving him down and out.
-Non-title Match:
"High Voltage Girl" Genesis defeats "The Warrior" Amazona by pinfall at 9:59. This should set up a title match down the line.
- Cruzz defeats El Bacano by pinfall at 10:12. This match was set-up by Bacano interfering during Cruzz's intercontinental title match with Joe Bravo.
-IWA Puerto Rican Title:
"The Rebel" Chris Joel defeats "Dangerous" Rick Stanley by pinfall at 11:25. After the bout Richard Rondon comes out and argues with Stanley. It seems Rondon paid Stanley to get rid of Joel and since he didn't do his job right, Rondon demands the money. Stanley goes backstage, comes out with the money and tosses it on Rondon's face. They brawl and Stanley takes the upper hand, but he is attacked by Noel Rodriguez. Rondon then locks Stanley in the "Ravishing Crossface".
-IWA Intercontinental Title:
"The Golden Latino" Joe Bravo defeats "El Boricua" Savio Vega by pinfall at 13:38 after run-ins from everyone in the Dominican Revolution. La Morena gives Bravo a set of brass knuckles that he uses to nail Vega and get the win.
- Miguel Perez & Bison Smith vs Dennis Rivera & Noel Rodriguez never began. Perez came out alone and then came the heels. Rivera says that Bison is not here tonight because they made sure that he would not arrive in time. They even show us Bison's tag team title belt as further proof. Then they turn things into a handicap match. NOTE: In reality, Bison was scheduled to appear in Ring of Honor.
- Handicap Match:
Dennis Rivera & Noel Rodriguez defeat "El Boricua" Miguel Perez. Midway through the match Chris Joel comes out and becomes an impromptu partner for Perez. However, Richard Rondon comes out and attacks Joel, triggering a brawl. Perez is left alone and beaten badly. The heels then demand a shot at the Tag Team Titles next week.
-IWA Undisputed World Title:
"The Illegal" Chicano defeats Chet "The Jet" Jablonski by pinfall at 16:04. Crowd was very hot for this bout, Chet looked really good and Chicano looked even better with the win.
