411's WWE Raw Report 05.11.09
Posted by Rob McNew on 05.11.2009

-One week until Judgment Day, and Raw is faced with the task of really stepping their game up to let their portion of the card hold up against their Smackdown brethren. Raw has really scuffled the past few weeks after a pretty solid pre-Wrestlemania season. Despite the struggles there are still some interesting goings on with both Miz and MVP's sudden introduction into main event storylines. Hopefully the red brand can start the climb towards catching up with the pure awesome that the blue brand is putting out beginning tonight from Buckeye country. Remember if you're a 411mania fan, and just can't live without us you can always bookmark us or even set us as your homepage. Also you can follow us on Twitter or be our fan on Facebook. You can even be my friend. Crazy, huh?

-Live from Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH

-Hosted by Michael Cole & Jerry "The King" Lawler

-Lillian introduces WWE Champion Randy Orton, who won the Legacy preshow drawing for the right to wear a shirt tonight, and he states that the McMahon's pride themselves on listening to the audience. He says they need to stop listening, and start acting more like the fans. He says the fans face adversity every day of their lives, and what do they do? They take it and don't fight back. Why he asks? Because all of the fans are cowards. He says we pay to live our lives through people like him, and we pay to watch him do the things that he does. Like last week when he put an end to the McMahon era. That leads us to a video package of the Legacy beatdown of Shane last week. Orton says the people need to recognize that the company revolves around him. He says that also goes for the rest of the WWE especially Batista. He announces that Vickie Guerrero has announced a no contact ruling from today through Sunday. He says that even though he and Batista can't touch, that doesn't mean they can't talk and he invites the Animal to the ring. That brings out Batista, and Orton says he's going to tell him something that he and all of the people know deep down inside. Orton says he will not win the WWE Championship. Not this Sunday, and not ever. Orton wants to give Batista an opportunity, and before he says no he wants him to realize that he hasn't offered this chance to any WWE superstar who wasn't second or third generation. He wants to offer him a chance to join Legacy. Ted Dibiase grabs the mic, and tells Batista that he knows he's still upset about Randy kicking him in the skull. He can relate, but getting kicked was the best thing that ever happened to his career. He says he was going nowhere, but now he's a member of the most elite group in WWE. Orton says when they were in Evolution they were unstoppable, but the only person holding them back was HHH. He says he took out HHH and that won't be a problem anymore. He tells him if he joins Legacy they'll be bigger than the Horseman, DX, and even Evolution. Orton tells him he won't be champion, but at least he'll be on the winning team. He brings up Arn Anderson being at Ric Flair's side for 10 years as his Enforcer. Orton wants to give Dave the opportunity to be his enforcer. Batista says it's a great opportunity, and everything that he says makes perfect sense. He says there's just one problem, he doesn't like him. In fact he despises, no wait loathes him. He says he is not and never will be Orton's back up, and he's not here to help him, but here to hurt him. Batista says there is nothing Orton can do to stop him. Orton says Batista just made the biggest mistake of his life, and says he's lucky there is a no contact ruling tonight because he would drop him right now. Batista laughs it off and tells him he's tired of listening to him, and says he's certainly tired of listening to Vickie Guerrero. Batista trips all over his lines trying to say he's tired as hell of waiting. He says he doesn't think there's a chance in hell of Vickie Guerrero calling off the Judgment Day main event. He says there is nothing keeping him from destroying Orton tonight. EXCUSE ME! That brings out Princess Swine Flu herself Vickie Guerrero and Chavo. She asks if she was just called predictable, and asks if this is predictable. She says she's waiving tonight's no contact order, and doesn't care if they tear each other up tonight. She doesn't even care about their condition, but that title match will take place on Sunday. She says in the meantime things are going to get interesting. Tonight its Batista vs. Dibiase & Rhodes. Like last week if Dibiase & Rhodes wins then we get a 3 on 1 handicap match tonight, but if Batista wins then its Judgment Day come early tonight. Vickie orders Orton to leave because Dibiase and Rhodes vs. Batista is up next.

Ted Dibiase & Cody Rhodes vs. Batista
This match is joined in progress with Batista burying a series of shoulderblocks to Dibiase in the corner. Batista sends Dibiase into the corner back first with an Irish whip, but Dibiase comes back with a chinbuster. Tag to Rhodes who gets hiptossed immediately by Batista. Rhodes gets hit with a vertical suplex picking up a two count for Batista. Batista goes for a powerslam, but Dibiase provides a distraction allowing Cody to slide down the back and chopblock the knee. Tag to Dibiase who comes in with a series of stomps to the hamstring, and elbow drops to the knee. Rhodes tags back in and Priceless wishbone the legs of Batista before Rhodes goes back to work with a series of stomps. Dibiase tags back in, and pulls Batista to the apron dropping his leg across it. Dibiase covers for a two count, and goes back to work on the leg with a spinning toe hold. Batista shoves off so Rhodes tags in and works over Batista in the heel corner. Batista fires out of there with a series of right hands, and then whips Cody into the corner. Backdrop connects to Rhodes, and that is followed by a boot sending Dibiase to the floor. Rhodes tries to sneak attack, but gets a big boot sending him to the floor. Dibiase tries to get back inside, but the ref has to put him out. Meanwhile Cody tries to bring a chair in the ring, but that gets taken by Batista. Batista takes a swing at Cody with the chair as the ref turns around and catches him drawing the DQ at 4:08. Do we really need that cheap ass ending to protect Batista in a match that is already a handicap match?
Winner: Ted Dibiase & Cody Rhodes (Disqualification-Foreign Object ¼*)

-Maryse is in the ring for a promo? She cuts a promo in French, and then says if she wasn't Maryse she would want to be. That's it? Oh it's a tag match; that would have been nice to know…

Maryse & Jillian Hall vs. Mickie James & Kelly Kelly
Kelly starts with Jillian, and arm drags out of an arm wringer before grabbing one of her own. They botch a sequence of some kind, before Kelly busts out the hurracanrana. Maryse provides a distraction allowing Jillian to hit a clothesline for two. Maryse tags in and grabs a reverse chinlock. Kelly stands up, and goes for the tag before getting drug down by her hair. Maryse gives Mickie a cheap shot, but gets kicked away by Kelly who makes the tag. Mickie comes in with a pair of clotheslines and then hits a back elbow. Mickie hits a hurracanrana out of the corner, and then delivers a bombs away off the top for two. Jillian makes the save, and Kelly chases her out to the floor with a clothesline off the apron. Maryse goes for a DDT, but Mickie holds the ropes to block that. That allows Mickie to hit a jumping DDT of her own to pick up the victory at 3:41. Mickie brought her working boots, but everyone else sucked.
Winners: Mickie James & Kelly Kelly (Mickie pins Maryse ½*)

-If you didn't get enough Orton in the first 20 minutes Josh Mathews is standing by with him. Orton starts to talk, but gets interrupted by Dibiase who tells him Cody's gone. They take off through the back.

-We get a recap of Big Show's recent attacks on Cena at both Judgment Day and last night on Raw.

-Chavo is talking to Vickie in the locker room, and he tells her he's proud of her how she handled the Orton-Batista situation earlier. He says he wants to talk about Cena, and how he should be forced to compete tonight in an exhibition match despite his injuries. He thinks he needs to prove he's ready to compete Sunday, and he will have to compete until Vickie is satisfied he is ready to compete. Vickie says he will compete tonight against the Miz. Chavo gives her a Happy Mother's Day as he takes off.

-Cole and Lawler are in the ring to run down the Judgment Day card. Cena vs. Show, the just announced Mysterio vs. Jericho, Jeff Hardy vs. Edge, & Batista vs. Randy Orton are spotlighted.

-Orton and Dibiase continue the search for Cody Rhodes, and Orton finds him after he sends Dibiase down a hallway. They go back for Dibiase, but find a trainer going to get the doctor. Dibiase is found laid out in the back saying only "Batista."

Carlito vs. The Brian Kendrick
Well we'll see if Kendrick can break the three minute mark this week. Carlito attacks after Kendrick gets mouthy, and gets hit with a dropkick. Kendrick draws Carlito to the apron, and kicks him in the face, before choking him with his boot. Kendrick hits a running forearm in the corner, but dives off the second rope into a boot. Carlito hits a clothesline and a legdrop for two, but a springboard attempt fails as Kendrick pulls him back to the mat. Carlito comes back sending Kendrick sternum first into the buckle, and goes for a backstabber. Kendrick blocks that, and then sends Carlito shoulder first into the ringpost. That allows him to get a rollup to pick up the victory at 1:43. Kendrick says that was only step one. Step two is finding a partner, and not just any partner but THE partner. Once he finds that partner The Brian Kendrick will be one half of THE Tag Team Champions. This might be a decent feud if they got more than TWO FUCKING MINUTES each week.
Winner: The Brian Kendrick (Pinfall-Rollup *)

-Big Show comes out before the upcoming Miz-Cena match, and sits down on the announce table to get a closer look.

Exhibition Match: John Cena vs. The Miz
The rules for this "exhibition match" is that they will compete until the match is stopped by Vickie Guerrero. Cena still sells his injuries somewhat, but he's done a very good job of selling it less and less each week. It would have looked stupid if he staggered out each week and then came out running and jumping on Sunday so kudos to Cena for that. Miz tells Cena that getting thrown through a search light, and getting beatdown by Big Show last week is nothing compared to what he's going to get from Miz tonight. Miz screams at him to look at him, and then asks if he's a little hurt. He tells him he should be excited as its just an exhibition and not 12 rounds. That means people will actually see this. Miz says he's been picking on him about his movie, but in all fairness his rap album sucked too. Miz says Vickie may call it an exhibition, but he's calling it 3 and 0. Because he's the Miz and he's awesome. No referee for this one, and no bell. Cena takes Miz down with a go behind, and then lets him go as he keeps one eye on Big Show. Cena grabs a headlock takeover, and Miz punches his way out of that. Miz hits a back suplex, and then a pair of vertical suplexes. Miz stomps Cena in the corner, and then connects with a running clothesline in the corner. Miz drives his knee into the back of Cena, and then hammers away in the corner. Irish whip sends Cena to the corner, but he moves out of the way of another running clothesline attempt. Cena hits the running shoulderblocks and a protoplex. Five knuckle shuffle connects for Cena, and he sets up for the Attitude Adjuster. Vickie gets on the titantron and stops the match telling him she's seen enough and there's no chance he can beat Big Show at 2:48. Afterward Miz hits the reality check, and proclaims he's now 3 and 0. Big Show stares from the floor, but does nothing.
Winner: No Contest (Vickie Stoppage *1/2)

-Orton and Rhodes are in the back, and Rhodes tells him that if it was Batista they need to take it to him before he gets to another one of them. Orton says he's right, and Batista knows they're on to him and he's not going to surprise anyone. Orton tells Rhodes its time he proved himself. He sends him to find Batista and take him out. I'm sure that will work. Good plan Randy.

Chavo and Vickie are bragging in their office about their exhibition match. Santina stops by and asks if they wanted to see her. Vickie wants to know if its true that she called her swine like last week. She says it wasn't her, because she wasn't here last week. They're thinking of her twin brother Santino. Chavo tells her to give it up because they all know she's Santino, and he tries to prove it by taking her wig off. He slaps him and tells him she's not that kind of girl. Vickie brings in Rosa and Beth, and asks Rosa to give Santina a good luck kiss before her big match with Santina to see if she's who she says he is. Of course she can't control herself and makes out with Rosa. Chavo says he knew he couldn't resist, and wants her to go ahead and admit it. She says she'll admit it, she is a, how do you say, a lesbiano. Its just that she doesn't prefer the company of pigs as she looks at Vickie. He makes a few pig noises at Vickie, and then leaves giving Rosa a smack on the ass on the way out. Absolutely hilarious.

-Speaking of hilarious we go to Cody heading through the back with a lead pipe in hand searching for Batista. He hears noises coming from a closet, but opens it to find not Batista, but Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle runs away in fear, but Batista attacks Cody from behind and throws him into the closet. This show is quickly approaching the "so bad its good" territory.

-Cole states that its becoming obvious that Batista was behind the attack on Dibiase earlier tonight because of what we just saw. As if Dibiase clearly saying "Batista" wasn't quite good enough to give it away.

Beth Phoenix (w. Rosa Mendes) vs. Santina Marella
Big Santina chant from the crowd to start. "She" is literally getting by far the biggest reaction of the night. Beth delivers a few shoudlerblocks in the corner, and then clotheslines Santina over the top to the floor. Beth goes out after her, and PRESS SLAMS SANTINA INTO THE RING. Unreal! Back inside Beth gets an abdominal stretch, but Santina quickly hiptosses out. She misses a clothesline on Beth, and gets put in a full nelson hilarious screaming in high pitched tones the entire time. Santina tries to power out, but has to resort to the butt butt to break the hold. Beth gets a double leg takedown, and grounds and pounds on Santina. Santina comes back with a small package to pick up the victory and remain undefeated at 2:41. I'm really enjoying this because it's a lot of fun and not meant to be taken seriously, but when the best part of the A show is a man in drag you've got problems.
Winner: Santina Marella (Pinfall-Small Package *)

-Josh Mathews catches up with John Cena in the back, and asks him given his physical limitations how is he going to compete at Judgment Day. Cena says he's hurt, and the past few weeks he's been going through hard times. How does that make him different than anyone else he asks? Everyone in the country is going through hard times. Cena says despite everything people have found a way to adapt and overcome. Cena says that means he needs to ante up and do what he does best. Adapt and overcome. He says he's not going to compete he's going to win. Mathews says Cena will face Big Show, but gets interrupted and says Josh didn't hear him. He says he's going to win. I think someone was watching some Dusty Rhodes tapes today.

-MVP is out for the VIP Lounge. MVP says last week William Regal decided to get up in his business, but even though he's livin large as a WWE superstar he's still hood to the heart. He tells Regal to get his dress on because its ladies night on the VIP Lounge. Regal comes out and says its quite revolting that he would come on to his precious Raw and act like he owns the place. Regal says a year ago he was the GM of Raw and the King of the Ring, but then he was unjustly removed from his position. He says he valiantly returned as an in ring competitor, but he paid his dues and waited his chance to reign once again. But MVP and the other draft picks came on his show and ignored his tenure deciding to leap above him in the pecking order. MVP says he now understands that Regal is miserable, and even though he's straight up ballin Regal is straight up boring. He says unlike Regal he's not waiting his turn. He's the US Champ. Regal says MVP perfectly represents the US. He's arrogant, he's misguided, and he's despised by everyone else in the world. Regal takes off his robe, but that brings out Matt Hardy. Hardy says since everyone is airing their grievances he wants to voice his. He's been forced to compete with a broken hand, and all of his protests have been ignored. He says what would be fair would be to erase his loss to Kofi last week. He says speaking of waiting their turn. Regal needs to wait his turn. He says no one has defeated MVP more than he has, and no one deserves a shot that title more than he does. Hardy and Regal have words, and that brings out Kofi who attacks Matt from behind. Chavo comes out and orders the ring cleared because at the order of Vickie Guerrero we got a tag match, and its next.

MVP & Kofi Kingston vs. Matt Hardy & William Regal
Joined in progress with Regal and MVP in the ring, and MVP hits a throw on Regal before making the tag to Kofi. Kofi comes off the top with a cross body for two, and then dropkicks Hardy off the apron. Kofi hits the ropes and delivers the double legdrop for two. Hardy comes in but gets intercepted by MVP sending him to the floor. Kofi hops up on the second rope to deliver a few shots to Regal, but as the ref puts MVP out Matt delivers a shot with the cast picking up a two count for Regal. Tag to Matt who comes in with a series of knees to the gut of Kofi. Matt connects with a pair of bodyslams for a one count, and then grabs an abdominal stretch. Kofi tries to come out, but gets a kick to the midsection before Matt tags Regal back in. Regal drives his shoulder into the midsection of Kofi, and then follows with a kneelift. Regal hits a throw for two, and tags Hardy back in who drops an elbow. Matt goes back to the abdominal stretch, but Kofi hiptosses out. Matt tags in Regal who drops a knee on Kofi's sternum. Kofi comes back with a sunset flip, but Regal rolls through. Kofi headscissors Regal over and tags in MVP who comes in with a series of punches to Regal. Facebuster connects by MVP, and that sets up the ballin' elbow. Matt makes the save at two, but gets kicked to the floor by Kofi. Regal chucks Kofi over the top, but turns around into an attack from MVP. Matt runs out of the arena as MVP hits the drive-by kick and playmaker to pick up the win at 6:21. Good enough match, and certainly the best of the night. Although that's like picking your favorite STD.
Winners: MVP & Kofi Kingston (MVP pins Regal-Playmaker **1/2)

Randy Orton vs. Batista
Orton gets the mic, and says Batista made his point. He says there is no good reason that they should fight six days before their title match at Judgment Day. He says he's going to leave this ring, but Batista will have none of that as he comes out. Give away your PPV main event six days early. Fucking brilliant. WWE: Cross the line. Orton attacks early, but gets hit with a clothesline. Orton bails to the floor, and tries to escape, but Batista grabs him and fires him back inside. Batista delivers a pair of spinebusters, and goes outside for a chair. He blasts Orton with the chair drawing the DQ at 1:04, and then bashes Orton's ankle with a chair as payback for what he did to Shane last week. Batista grabs the steps and throws them in the ring. Batista blasts Orton's ankle with the chair again, and grabs the steps. Cody Rhodes runs in to make the save, and gets hit with a Batista Bomb. Dibiase pulls Orton outside, and then tries to sneak attack Batista. Orton slides back in as Batista has his back turned (now completely no-selling the ankle) and goes for the RKO. Batista shoves him off though, and then gives Ted a clothesline. Batista goes for a Batista Bomb on Orton, but Dibiase pulls him away long enough to get speared and let Orton escape. Batista chucks the steps at Orton in the aisle as Orton (remembering he just nearly had his ankle broke) slithers back to the locker room as we head out.
Winner: Randy Orton (Disqualification-Foreign Object DUD)

-Good God is this show stuck in a rut or what. Orton looks like the biggest goof on the planet. Seriously did he honestly think sending Cody Rhodes to go get Batista was going to work?!?! Couple that with the brutal ending that saw Legacy again look like complete chumps, and Orton have his ankle broken, only to slide in like nothing was wrong, attempt an RKO, then slide back out selling the ankle again. Just absolutely terrible. I order nearly every pay per view, but if I didn't have tickets to this one I might not even bother. Oh well, thank god for Smackdown.

Boy Rob, some negative final thoughts you have there, I don't think it was that bad. I liked Cena's promo and Santino was hilarious and the final tag match was good

I don't care what anyone says. Impact is a more entertaining show to watch than this crap. If you are going to hate on Impact, you have to do the same to Raw.

Posted By: D-Steak (Guest)  on May 11, 2009 at 11:13 PM

Stupid stupid stupid. They didn't "give away" the PPV main event. What they did was no different that usual brawl on the go-home show before a PPV. Just because it said "vs." means nothing genius.

Way to sell that leg Randy. And some people have the nerve to call Batista terrible and Orton decent after that.

Also Rob newsflash, the Santina stuff is still stupid. But DAMN I didn't think Beth was THAT strong.

"I order nearly every pay per view, but if I didn't have tickets to this one I might not even bother. Oh well, thank god for Smackdown."

Exactly. If Judgment Day ends up being a good show it will be because of Smackdown and ECW.

The two Raw matches may be bad enough to kill the show entirely.

God awful show! Santino was gold and tag match was good. The matches need more than 2 minutes. Good thing for ECW and Smackdown. Legacy = Complete Jobbers

Yeah, Santino, Matt Hardy, and the Miz were the only reasons to watch RAW this week.

Everything else was rather mediocre and the Batista/Legacy stuff was especially horrific.

Does anybody else think that if Batista was so hell bent on killing Orton he would have left the ring and went after him outside at the end of the show. Seriously who writes this shit.

Why doesn't Cena just come out of the closet and call himself Superman. Oh and admit that he is a piss poor actor when it comes to selling an injury. RAW brand is hopeless, Friday night SD is alot more anticipated!

"Does anybody else think that if Batista was so hell bent on killing Orton he would have left the ring and went after him outside at the end of the show. Seriously who writes this shit."

LoL, of course not! He was like a whole 20 yards from the ring. Batista may injure himself walking that far.

I didn't really think that the diva's match was that bad. And i thought that Kelly Kelly was improving and looked good. Maryse was abit off tonight but she still looked hot. And the santino stuff was gold. Your a traitor to all wwe fans for you even comparing WWE to TNA on your headline.

I agree across the board. On another note, Beth would probably snap me in half but it would be worth it

Woot! I'm 2-0 on missing shitty RAWs! Didn't even bother to DVR them...watching Mother Lover by JT and AS from SNL is better than anything on RAW lately...

Even the recap is boring(no offense to the writer, the content, just reading about this show, is dull). I put it on for intermitent 5 minute bits and the best thing I saw was Kelly Kelly's thong.

Thankfully we'll have the Luger/Bulldog 3 disc set coming soon, that will tide us over while they get this show straight.

Even the Spirit Squad or La Resistance were more threatening than the Legacy.

Raw has been terrible since Backlash.. we knew it was coming because it's the same boring stale main eventers we've seen for years now and it's only going to get worse.. we have HHH to come back and Cena to be prominent on the show yet to come!

Could you imagine, Roidtista, Cena, HHH all came down with long-term injuries it would be fantastic!

A show dominated by Miz, Kendrick, MVP, Orton (yes Orton), Kofi and Matt would be absoluetly awesome.

I hope the suck level shows through in the ratings.. this show was terrible.

Has anyone else noticed Cena's sudden accent change lately? He sounds like he's got some kind of country twang in his voice.

Anyway, pretty awful show. MVP is getting no pop at all and the crowd was dead for the MVP/Kofi-Hardy/Regal tag match. A lot of botched spots there as well.

At least we didn't have Super Shane on the show this week... thank God for that.

HUNTARD the RETARD does so he can walk in a freakin hero after this shit has been rolled out on tele a few more weeks

I was still a little hopeful after last week because of Miz delivering well, but after this show I'm convinced that Raw just isn't salvageable anymore. There is no combination of superstars or feuds that can make this show exciting, especially when they seem dead set on having basically the same matches on every single episode. Nonetheless, I hope the ratings do well so that they don't consider changing the rosters any. I'd hate for Smackdown to be infested with any of the crap from Raw right now.

Posted By: Guest#2337 (Guest)  on May 12, 2009 at 12:11 AM

This show wasn't that bad. Last week was fuckin horrible, but I think they did a good job of selling the main event of Batista/Orton this week by showing just how badly Batista wanted to hurt Orton. And Orton sending Rhodes to "take out" Batista was just a way to show how cowardly Randy is that he sends his flunkie to go do his dirty work.

I actually think that there is a lot of promise on Raw. You've got the main event players like Cena, Batista, HHH, Orton, and Show. Kennedy is returning soon. They finally remembered that they have William F'N Regal on the roster. MVP, Kofi, Miz, and Hardy are gonna solidify the mid-card. Primo & Carlito are a very good tag team and if Kendrick gets a decent partner, we might get some damn good matches. Not to mention that HBK could return at any moment.

So while Smackdown is easily the better wrestling program, I think that Raw wont be far behind them in the next few months. I think right now is just that awkward period before everyone's role on the show is established and from there they can set up good feuds for the future. Potential matches like HBK/Hardy, Kennedy/HHH, Regal/MVP, HHH/MVP, Cena/Hardy, Cena/Kennedy, Orton/Kennedy, HBK/MVP, Miz/MVP, Regal/HHH, Orton/Kofi, Kofi/HBK, and others make me realize that Raw definitely has potential. Hopefully the writers realize that too....

Robbymac, this is unlike you man, I thought you were above all of that 'workrate' bullshit.

Kendrick is a joke, and there's a reason he only gets 2 minutes a week.

Batista gets so much unneeded hate, it's ricockulous, and I figured you'd take devil's advocate here with building him up to his inevitable loss on Sunday. It's booking 101.

Of course, the show was lackluster, but when you first started doing these reviews you didn't seem as vulgar as MaDaBa and as much as a tool as other reviewers/commenters on this site.

I hope this was just a bad week for you in general, because you're becoming everything you didn't used to stand for in a wrestling fan. Almost like a typical MGH/smark.

But that's just my opinion.

Gee, didn't we hear another Southern gentleman talk about "hard times" oh, like 20 years ago?

It's like Cena tried to "reboot" that promo, but gave up.

It's amazing how the internet sheep are in love with Santino. Let's go through this again - he can't wrestle worth a shit, despite being in the company for what... at least 2 years now? His big act now is beating up ladies. Yeah, that's entertaining. Almost makes you wish for Spike TV's "no male on female violence" rule, just to get this boring shit off of the screen. Why not get rid of every division except heavyweight and have every weekly show be about the heavyweight title? Any other division, be it ladies, tag team, intercontinental, etc, is just pissed on anyway.

They would not have broken up Miz and Morrison for Miz and Brian Kendrick (at least I hope not). I think Kendrick picks a FCW wrestler and maybe it works out. As far as the Miz they really need to form a stable around him. WWE needs to go back to more factions. Legacy is so damn lame they can't carry it. Go back to the DX, Nation of Domination, Hart Foundation days.

How has everyone but wwegardner overlooked the most important development on this show?

THE Brian Kendrick is gonna be a tag champ! And I gotta agree, The Miz is the optimal choice. Just imagine. Never has so much a-hole been in the ring at the same time. It will be greatness!

RAW is going back to its worst days like 2002-2003 where Triple H gave 20-minutes interviews every night and had a never ending title reign where as SmackDown Superstars like Lesnar Angle, Benoit, Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero were rocking the show. 2004 was the only good year for RAW since the brand extention. The rest are awful

All right, this week we get the standard HHH opening speech, except the role of wrestler who says the same nothing speech week in an week out will be played once again by Randy Orton. I like Randy Orton, but can he ever say anything of substance, cmon, give him something interesting to say. Vickie is killing any interest I had left of this show, but I guess predictable would have been Batista teaming with Randy Orton(Can they co-exist, one week away frim their main event...)But then again, isn't predictable, getting the same thing as last week, a 3 on 1 match? I do like the Chavo/Vickie stuff, so kudos to who thought of that. I dislike Batista, and he was no different this week, standard boring power moves, shoulder block into corner, blah blah...He did hit a nice spear, ill give him that. Ted Dibiase was not gold on the mike tonight, but at least he made some reference to getting kicked in the skull, hopefully to continue the foreshadowing of his turn, we shall see. Kelly Kelly, once again looked good, until she tried to wrestle, and then she looked horrible. The thong would have been great if it wasn't for the fact that we immediately went to the long distance cam parked in the back row. PG, gotta love it. Holy crap, this just in, Kendrick won a match!..Im interested to see where this goes. Who is left for Kendrick to be paired with?.. Im really getting into the miz, but i'm sure a royal ass whooping from Cena is coming, but I will enjoy the ride until that day comes. Im glad it wasn't a domination though as I was fearing. I thought, Miz is getting to the ring and eating the Attitude adjuster, and its over. Big Show actually did less than last week, and did it slower, I didnt think that was possible. Santino/a stuff is what it is, but I hate seeing Beth get pinned, it really takes away from her character. I hope she royally kicks Santinas ass sometime, and soon. There were funny moments but this storyline is dying quickly. I didn't think anybody could get paid less for doing less than Bam Neely, but Rosa Mendez, you might win the prize. I'm excited for MVP vs Regal, probably my favorite thing on RAW right now. Main event was terrible, Orton and Legacy were terrible, they never get any upper hand...ever. To compare them to the Horsemen is a travesty. You have Rhodes, Anderson, Flair on the payroll, ask them how they did it, watch the Horseman DVD or something. Make legacy seem strong. Has Cody ever actually won a match? Every member of the Horseman fought Dusty Rhodes in some legendary one on one matches. Dusty never faced Tully, Arn and Flair 3 on one and destroyed them. The heels must be strong to make the good guys look even better when they win. Seems basic.

They finally remembered that they have William F'N Regal on the roster. MVP, Kofi, Miz, and Hardy are gonna solidify the mid-card. Primo & Carlito are a very good tag team and if Kendrick gets a decent partner, we might get some damn good matches. Not to mention that HBK could return at any moment."

The fact you mentioned Ken "Mr. Glass" Kennedy as a reason for RAW to have hope kills your entire arguement

The main event didn't give away a thing either, as it lasted a minute, and they hardly gave away anything that they'll do on Sunday.

Of course, the show was lackluster, but when you first started doing these reviews you didn't seem as vulgar as MaDaBa and as much as a tool as other reviewers/commenters on this site.

Looks like I didn't miss much last night. I was able to catch the end and I thought the tag match was pretty good. But my god, this Legacy bullcrap is just too much. You could be having the greatest show ever and still have a bad show because of the horrible endings they've had lately.

And I've always thought that Beth was extra strong. She did carry Santino on her shoulders after they won their titles!

Going against the NBA playoffs, and with HHH on break - you think there is any chance that there is some intentional bad booking and writing going on?

HHH knows the ratings will be down, so after the playoffs, when the ratings would normally get a spike, HHH can come back and claim that the spike was because of his return.

Legacy = Spirit Squad 2009

Another bad show with the only positives I found were the close up of one of the Bella twins theigh/leg when the zoomed in to Ted on the ground, no McMahon's, TBK getting a win & good crowd response, and Miz's promo/match.

The rest was all Fast Forwardworthy

As a life long fan of professional wrestling, this is going to be hard for me to say, but I'm not going to be watching wrestling in the near future.

I'm a fan of Randy Orton, and I had high hopes for The Legacy, but seeing them buried for the past two straight weeks on RAW is just too much.

Last week, for 10 minutes, a middle aged and out of shape Shane McMahon manages to hold off 3 guys who are supposed to be trained wrestlers/fighters, and after 10 minutes Legacy had to do a three on one in order to get the upper hand.

Now, last night, Batista hands all three of them their heads. I don't care how strong he is supposed to be, it's flipping three on one for pitties sake.

WWE has completely lost the idea of how to build a credible stable of wrestlers. The Legacy started off looking like they might be something special, but for two weeks now they have been portrayed as just being a bunch of chumps.

Just completely unbelievable, and that is hard to say considering that we are talking about professional wrestling, which has had some real doozy of storylines over the years.

So, I'm done with WWE, at least for a while. And TNA just bores me.

I guess, like the Undertaker normally does, it's time for me to take the summer off and come back this fall to see if WWE writers have learned how to write believable stories.

Too bad I don't get to see SD! Very rarely do I see ECW (if I do, it's the very end of the show). They should have Superstars on Fridays since most people don't stay home to watch wrestling and SD! should be on Thursdays.

I'm not convinced that Batista or Orton are capable of pulling off good matches without having someone to carry them a little. With the right opponent they are fine and can pull off great matches. But against each other? Nah.

Plus with the stable looking so weak, they really need to get some fresh blood in there or it'll be over sooner then they'd like.

Actually blatantly what they need in the stable is some brains. I thought maybe they would get in Shane, but that boat has sailed now (and maybe for the best, because you know that would end in a Vince vs Shane match that no one would give a toss about). Perhaps they should bring in Ted DiBiase senior as manager? It's pretty clear that while Orton may stable champion material he's not stable leader material. His unstable nature and tendency to make dumb decisions makes that clear.

"I was so sick of HHH no-selling and beating up stables in the past but Shane last week holding his ground and then Batista this week?"

you DO realise that Batista didn't take Legacy on en masse, but picked them off one by one, right? kinda like how SCSA would take out the ministry/corporation/DX out in exactly the same one by one manner back in the attitude era, right?

in terms of kayfabe, Shane's 'domination' isn't much more different than the way that The Rock would fight off a mob during the attitude era.

if you want to blame anyone/thing for the current state of affairs, then blame the attitude era. most of the stuff you are crapping on now became overdone and overexposed there.

dont really know where the hate is coming from for the judgement day ppv...maybe thats bc I havent had a chance to see the build, but as far as just pure wrestling ppv line up goes, I remember this one looking pretty solid top to bottom...I know Cena and Show can pull out a pretty entertaining match, hardy edge should be 4 star level quality, randy brings it on ppv quite often, jericho mysterio used to tear it down in wcw and cm punk vs umaga should be at the very least interesting, not to mention the ecw championship match...i like the line up now if they put benjamin on there im good to go

This makes sense, however, the show was built to sell Judgment Day, which is only 3 weeks after Backlash. The show will need to have a hell of a buildup in order to make profit, and I don't see this happening by just glossing over Orton/Batista.

The main event was just build up. They hardly wrestled, and it was just another way of having a main-event brawl to lead into the PPV. Batista looks like he's ready to plow into Orton, especially after the chairshots, and on Sunday, the odds are him and Orton will have a hell of a match now.

What's to hate? sure they put a lot of emphasis on the two last night, but I think of it as a necessary evil in order to sell the show. They didn't didn't give away the ending to the match and there was no clean finish, so what was the harm in it?

Posted By: wrestlecrapper (Guest)  on May 12, 2009 at 04:20 PM

"Josh Mathews catches up with John Cena in the back, and asks him given his physical limitations how is he going to compete at Judgment Day. I think someone was watching some Dusty Rhodes tapes today."

Hurry up and turn that Lamewad heel already.

I'm just writing to let you know that you don't have to feel guilty about the fact that I died anymore. You do not have to keep putting my wife on TV. It was a nice gesture at first, but now I'm saying its okay to just ship her back to El Paso and be done with her. Thanks.

I love this.. priceless... would not complain at all if orton, guerrero, edge, rhodes, and swagger all got canned and went back to working at McDonald's

the problem with RAW can be solved very simply, get rid of VICKIE

I've rarely missed a RAW in 12 years, but gotta say I'm tempted to take a brake for a long while. I watched Impact, it is no better. I don't get Smackdown but do enjoy ECW quite a bit. Here are some ideas to fix RAW.

1.Regal and MVP can put on a god mid card program that can help both guys.Regal is still great and it could be a step in seeing if MVP can run as a main event guy. I didn't see much MVP but get to now and, though a stronger heel, can be a player.

2. Push The Miz. Orton doesn't need to lead a stable The Miz does. He won me over last year and has been dynamite since moving to RAW. He has star written all over him.

3. Break up The Legacy because its annoying. It had 4-Horseman type potential but have been made to look like chumps, and I'm tired of Orton's act. At least make them more bad ass and add another member to show more strength. Hell bring in Ted Sr to lead them.

4. Damn it Cena is stale. Freshen his character somehow, please. Even SCSA got a bit tired. Don't know how to do it outside of a massive heel turn though.

During the summer is the right time to try new things and push new stars. If they don't ratings will not come back.

Yes, thank God for Smackdown and i bet ECW will be better, Superstars and Impact as a matter of fact will sound better now.

And you'd probably do the same thing to keep your job as a top guy to keep getting all that money, to keep your house, your cars, quad racers. motorcycles, limos, vacations, nice clothes, good food, provide for your wife, kids, kids' clothes, doctors visits, toys, clothes, kids college fund, etc.,etc.,etc.

Oh yes I'm sure HHH is really hurting for money these days....

RAW was so painfully intolerable, and boring beyond comprehension. Weren't you guys dying for the closing credits already? I mean seriously. You had Batista and Orton open the show and that was the perfect indication for upcoming boredom with a silent ass crowd. Then you have Legacy and Batista playing tag backstage before Batista gets Cody into a room, locks it and rapes him in there (surprise there's no reported case of sexual harrassment, oh yeah, Cody enjoyed it). Santina Marella conceding he/she's a lesbian, kinda funny though. King withdrawing from saying "lesbian" when he was shouting Hot Lesbian Action" about few years ago. But The Miz, even with his great input to the show setting SuperCena straight, nope stupid crowd still quiet. Then you had Orton overselling a leg injury and Batista not jumping on the chance to finish him off at the end which was so stupid. Everything with RAW just didn't work this week and I reckon this is how it will be. All matches by the way were short and boring, and I know I don't have A.D.D, but I couldn't sit any of it through.

Raw was pretty poor, out of a two+ hour show there was about 20 minutes of decent content.
Santino/Santina may be stupid, but it's the massively entertaining kind of stupid. MVP/Kingston v Ragal/Hardy was good stuff, and that's about it.
The Batista/Orton stuff was bad, but the end segment was pretty awesome...or at least had some awesome moments. Specifically the chair beatdown and the HUGE spear on DiBiase which was timed to perfection.
It's pretty obvious they're killing time until HHH returns, so keeping Batista strong is important, just wish they'd allow Dibiase/Rhodes to be somewhat a threat to the man. John Morisson did better on his own against Batista last year than these two have managed in the feud so far.
Smackdown is by far the best wrestling show on TV right now, Raw is having a pretty bad downturn at the moment.

They just can't allow Kelly Kelly in the ring. She botched two of the four moves she did and exposes the business every time out. Seriously barbie at least wait until one step into Hall's blind charge before ya lower the rope. And how the hell do you fuck up a kick to the midsection. On the other hand though I was really impressed by Maryse, had never bothered to pay attention to her in ring before but i liked what I saw, the palm to the ref's face while working the chinlock was a nice touch. And this Santina crap needs to end it's not in the least bit funny and wasting a good talent. It's one of those instances where someone can walk in on you watching it and you feel dirty. They can throw out the why do you watch this crap argument and nothing you counter with is good enough or justify what is occuring on screen.
