411’s ECW on Sci-Fi Report 5.26.09

May 26, 2009 | Posted by Michael Bauer

Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.

We go straight to the opening video and down to Josh Matthews with Matt Striker at ringside as they hype up our six man tag match main event as Swagger teams up with the Hart Trilogy to take on Christian, Finlay, and Tommy Dreamer.

But before any action, we have the current ECW Champion coming out to the ring. Christian gets a quite a nice ovation and he apparently has a new t-shirt also. Christian takes a microphone and he says that is fitting that ECW is in Hollywood because of what he is about to say. He talks about a reality show and somebody getting a little bit of fame, not realizing that it is over when the show over. They think they are hot shit, but are really just a dork. He calls Jack Swagger that dork and says he won’t go away. Christian calls Swagger out, saying his fifteen minutes of fame are just about up. Swagger does come out to the stage and he questions what Christian is thinking, since his time is now, but Christian’s time as champion is running out. Swagger again says that he was cheated twice and he has a rematch at Extreme Rules. Christian wonders what the stipulation is and this brings out ECW General Manager Tiffany. Tiffany says that he needs to get facts straight and because of his actions last week, the match will be a triple threat at Extreme Rules… and the third man is Tommy Dreamer! Swagger is annoyed and he says Dreamer’s contract expires the day before Extreme Rules and IT’S NOT FAIR! Dreamer is dancing in the background as Tiffany says Dreamer signed a one day extension and the match is under Hardcore Rules. So either he wins the title or he walks away. Swagger is annoyed as Dreamer does a Truffle Shuffle. Swagger charges, Christian ducks, and Dreamer throws him out of the ring. Dreamer grabs Christian and throws him out of the ring. Dreamer stands tall as Matt Striker says it is about time he got an attitude change.

But up next… it’s Kozlov.

Handicap Match: Vladimir Kozlov vs. Russ Taylor and Joey Munos

So, now we can’t just have one slaughter. Kozlov just kicks away Taylor and Munos tries a go behind, but he just elbows him and tosses him off. Joey in the corner and Kozlov hits a tons of shoulder blocks. Kozlov presses Joey and drops him on the turnbuckle sideways. Kozlov kicks him in the head and dumps him to the floor. Joey rolled back in and Kozlov hits a series of headbutts followed by an overhead belly to belly suplex. Taylor tagged in and he hits some kicks, but Kozlov connects one of those killer headbutts. Kozlov drills him with the Iron Curtain and ends the madness at 1:40.

Winner: Vladimir Kozlov

Match Rating: ½* Twice the opponents, twice the squash.

Backstage, Tommy Dreamer says both him and Christian disrespected him in the ring today and both ignored him when he was announced as the third man in the triple threat. Christian says it wasn’t like that and Dreamer fired back with a “Who the hell do you think you are?” Christian says he is the ECW Champion, but Dreamer fires back again with “Not for long”. Christian and Dreamer brawl in the locker room as Finlay comes in to break it up as we go to commercial.

Back from the break and Josh Matthews and Matt Striker stress not to try this stuff at home. Matt even says, “It doesn’t take a genius. Don’t be an idiot.”

Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas) vs. Evan Bourne

They bring out of the tale of tape for the match of David vs. Goliath, WWE Style. The bell rings and Bourne tries to kick at the legs, but just gets shoved half way across the ring. Bourne again goes to the leg, but gets clubbed in the back. Bourne gets thrown hard into the corner. Henry has him trapped, but Bourne leaps to the second rope and over Henry to escape. Bourne comes off the ropes and runs right into a the bear splash. Bourne gets his chest caved in as Henry stands on in and then repeats on the back. Henry chokes Bourne with one hand. Bourne lands some kicks to the leg as he gets to his feet, but Henry actually gets a roundhouse kick to the head of Bourne for two. Yes, Henry got his leg up that high. Bourne gets dumped to the outside and Tony Atlas gets a much not needed cheap shot in. Henry with a backbreaker and he holds Bourne there for a submission. Henry lifts Bourne for another backbreaker and locks in the submission again. Bourne escapes with a kick to the head and hits another before getting a dropkick to the back of the head. Bourne gets thrown into the corner and Henry misses a charge. Bourne heads up top, but Henry gets to the floor. Bourne goes to the ring apron and tries to moonsault into Mark, but Henry catches him. Bourne slips out and Henry gets shoved into the ring post. Bourne goes back up top and hits the double knees to the face of Henry. Bourne is able to get back into the ring, but Henry doesn’t get back in before the ten count! Bourne wins at 6:30 via count!

Winner: Evan Bourne

Match Rating: ** Pretty good big man vs. little man match. The ending felt a little rushed, but still decent.

After the match, they tell us that Finlay suffered an eye injury during the brawl backstage, with Dreamer and Christian. He has limited vision in his left eye and probably won’t compete in the main event tonight.

Backstage, Tiffany is pissed off at Dreamer and Christian because of Finlay being injured. She now makes the match a 3 on 2 since it was there fault.

Tyson Kidd, DH Smith, and Jack Swagger (with Natalya) vs. Tommy Dreamer and Christian

Kidd and Smith are now officially called the Hart Dynasty, which sucks because I loved Hart Trilogy. Natalya grabs a microphone and tells us all that Tyson Kidd is the only protégé of Bret Hart and that DH Smith is the only son of the British Bulldog. But of course, there is herself, the only daughter of Jim Neidhart. She says that they are part of something that nobody in the crowd or backstage will ever be a part of… the Hart Dynasty. We go to commercial before Swagger can start to come to the ring.

Back from the break and Swagger is in the ring already. Dreamer is out first, followed by Christian. Christian doesn’t look to enthused right now, like normal. The bell rings and Smith starts with Christian. Christian gets a go behind and Smith reverses into a hammerlock. Christian gets one of his own and grounds Smith. Smith gets up and backs Christian into the corner before giving the clean break. Smith with an arm wrench suplex takedown, Christian reverses into a grounded arm wrench and tags in Dreamer. Dreamer continues and tags back in Christian. Christian hits a double axe handle on the arm. Smith throws Christian off the ropes and after a few ducks Smith hits the shoulder block. Smith stomps away and tags in Swagger. Swagger with a go behind takedown and he keeps the waistlock on. Christian powers out, but Swagger lifts up Christian and slams him down for two. Christian in the corner and he avoids a charge, getting a schoolboy for two. Dreamer tagged in, Christian with a drop toe hold, and Dreamer hits an elbow to the head for two. Dreamer catches Swagger coming in with a charge with a boot. Dreamer hits a clothesline from the second rope and tags in Christian. Christian gets a near fall quickly and tags in Dreamer. Dreamer tagged back in and he hits a few shoulders in the corner before tagging in Christian. Christian and Dreamer argue, but Swagger charges and gets low bridged to the floor. Christian bounces off the ropes and cross bodies into Swagger. Swagger rolled back in for a two. Christian reversed into the corner, but he blocks the punch. Christian heads up top and Swagger catches him. Christian reverses into a Tornado DDT, but Swagger holds him up and flapjacks Christian as we go to a commercial at 6:25.

Back at 10:10 and Swagger has Christian backed in the corner and up on the top rope. Christian fights out and now hits the reverse DDT. Dreamer tagged in and he runs over Swagger with a clothesline and follows with a neckbreaker. Dreamer hits the sit out spinebuster for a two count. Dreamer puts Swagger in the Tree of Woe and connects with the basement dropkick. Dreamer measures for the DDT, but Swagger hits a belly to belly out of nowhere. Smith tagged in and he stomps away on Dreamer in the corner as Striker reminds us that Smith and Kidd are cousins. Dreamer locked in a chinlock, but he fights out and hits a jawbreaker. Smith prevents the tag and gets a two count after a side slam. Smith goes back to the headlock and tags in Tyson Kidd. Kidd hits a series of kicks in the corner and drops a knee to the face for a one count. Kidd goes to the chinlock and he screams at Dreamer to give up. Fat chance. Dreamer gets the inverted atomic drop and Kidd prevents the tag from happening. Kidd tags in Smith and he hits the delayed vertical suplex, much like his father, for a two count. Smith with a knee to the back and he goes to the front face lock. Dreamer brought to the wrong corner, so Swagger tagged in when he escapes. Swagger goes to the waistlock and Dreamer gets up, reaching for the tag, but Swagger lets go to knock Christian off the apron. Kidd tagged in and he stomps away before going back to the headlock. Dreamer connects with a back suplex to escape. Dreamer makes the tag and Christian fires away on Kidd. Kidd gets hit with a back body drop and gets sent to the corner. It’s reversed and Christian hits the pendulum kick. Christian goes up top and hits a missile dropkick for two as DH Smith breaks it up. Dreamer clotheslines himself and Smith to the floor as Swagger gets the tag. He throws Christian into the ring post shoulder first and then the gutwrench powerbomb for the three count at 18:45.

Winners: Jack Swagger and the Hart Dynasty

Match Rating: **3/4 Very good tag match. I didn’t like seeing very little of Kidd in the match, but the ending was the right one.

After the bell, Dreamer attacks Swagger, but the Hart Dynasty make it a 3 on 1 and connect with the Hart Attack. The heels stand tall as we end the broadcast.
