Kurt Angle is the true King of the Mountain as he wins the TNA World Title with help from Samoa Joe! Elsewhere, Beer Money won the tag team titles, Angelina Love defeated Tara to retain the Knockouts Title, Suicide won the X-Division King of the Montain Match to retain his title and much more! Checkout 411’s complete TNA Slammiversary report for all the details!
Greetings, humanity! Welcome to 411mania's Slammiversary Report with me, Chris Lansdell. Mike Tenay and Don West are ringside in Detroit an here! We! Go!
On the preshow, The British Invasion defeated the team of Rhino and Jesse Neal. Eric Young, Rhino's scheduled partner, walked out on him. Jesse Neal came down and was allowed to tag in, only to get demolished by a Doomsday European uppercut.
No surprises here, you had to keep this one away from the big men's version or this one would steal the heat. Curtis Granderson is on commentary for this match and he sounds pretty damn comfortable I must say. Suicide is on top of the cell.
Everyone stares down Suicide and they all charge him. Beatery ensues. Lethal Consequences double team him in the corner ending in the springboard bulldog, the the Guns work their speed kicks offence.
Lethal and Creed have a ladder, the Guns nail a pair of lariats from front and back but Suicide takes them down. Suicide is whipped towards the ladder but slides under it and levels all four men with the ladder! SUICIDE SOLUTION on the ladder!!! Lethal is pinned! Suicide is eligible to hang the belt. Granderson is now off commentary, which is a shame. Lethal's in the box now. Double suplex by the Guns on Suicide, then all 3 men hit snap leg drops. They work a triple team catapult/enziguiri/reverse STO into the ladder. Creed charges but Suicide gets the ladder up. Guns charge him but he moves and they collide! Spinning Russian leg sweep to Sabin, reverse lungblower to Shelley! 3 count! Shelley is now in the box. Lethal is out and hits a double axe handle on Suicide for 2. Savage-style clothesline gets 2 more. Suicide slips out the back of a suplex and hits the Mind Trip to the turnbuckle on Lethal but does not see Sabin with a chair...LAUNCHED into the face of Suicide! Lethal sets up a chair, Sabin sits on it but quickly moves...LETHAL COMBO INTO THE CHAIR!!! Ouch. They fight over who gets the pin, in the end they all pile on and get the pin. OK, who's eligible? They haven't announced it, but Lethal was on the bottom. Well, above Suicide. Giggity. All 4 men dance around the ring and we have confirmation that Lethal is eligible. He calls for the belt and the Guns are not going to stand by and watch that happen. They work a series of reversals off a whip...damn this is fast...and it ends with the Guns getting clotheslines in the corner on Lethal and Creed. The fans are behind the Guns like crazy. They take Creed down with a legsweep/double stomp combo. Lethal is in a tricky position as the Guns kick him in the spine in the corner. Demolition Decapitation to Creed, Shelley rolls across the ring and hits a lungblower on Lethal! Suicide is now out of the box, and Creed hits a TKO on Shelley! 1...2...3! Shelley to the box, Creed is eligible. Lethal and Creed hit a backbreaker/Russian leg sweep on Suicide followed by a stiff kick to the head for 2. Suicide fights back but gets kicked in the gut by Sabin. Cradle Shock attempt...Suicide escapes and MONKEY FLIPS SABIN INTO THE LADDER! Suicide sends Lethal to the outside, he trips Suicide and drags him out too...CREED FLIES and takes out Suicide! Suicide and Creed brawl up the aisle and SABIN FLIES OFF THE PENLTY BOX HALFWAY UP THE AISLE! Damn white boy! Shelley sets up the ladder but neither he nor Sabin is eligible yet. Sabin lies down and Shelley pins him! Shelley is now eligible! He climbs but SUICIDE DROPKICKS THE LADDER from the top! Lethal and Creed are back in, they set the ladder horizontally across the top turnbuckle and whip Suicide into it. He went down like a $5 hooker. Lethal climbsbut Shelley intercepts him on the top rope and drives his head into the ladder. Creed charges Suicide but he sidesteps and Creed sends Shelley into the rail. Suicide sets Creed for a suplex, but Lethal is steadying himself on the ladder HOLY FUCKDUCKERY!!!!! Suicide drops Creed across the ladder, catapulting Lethal across the ring and almost dropping him on his head!!! One of the sweetest bumps I've seen. Sabin is out of the box, he charges Suicide and takes him over the top then hits a SICK tornado DDT on Lethal for 3! Lethal to the box, Sabin eligible. Creed hits a pumphandle...something, dropping Sabin on his faces. AIR RAID CRASH by Shelley on Creed!!! Shelley charges Suicide but Suicide ducks and hits a springboard DDT. Cradle Shock by Sabin on Suicide! Damn this is some match. Sabin is climbing the ladder but Suicide is up! Sabin fights him off and hangs him in the tree of woe...hesitation dropkick! Lethal has 5 seconds as Sabin climbs...Lethal makes the save. Back splex off the ladder...dumb. FROG SPLASH by Shelley as Lethal stayed down after the suplex. Superkick by Shelley to Suicide. Shelley is sliding the ladder out of the ring, propping it on the railing and the ring. ENZIGUIRI by Creed and Shelley is out of the ring again. Slam to Suicide, Lethal goes up top but Sabin crotches him. Creed avoids a whip and tries to body drop Sabin onto the ladder outside, he lands on his feet but gets tackled into it anyway! Missile dropkick by Shelley to Creed! Suicide goes to the floor, gets baseball slide kicked into the chair and SHELLEY crossbodies to the outside and into Suicide on the chair. Sabin is still lying on the ladder...ELBOW OFF THE TOP by Lethal to Sabin!!! Good grief Penfold! Alex Shelley is the only person on his feet, although Creed is now up. They slug it out on the apron, SICK superkick by Shelley and Creed is barely conscious. SLICED BREAD ON THE APRON! God damn! Suicide is up and he slugs it out with Shelley! Shelley tries a Sliced Bread off the penalty box!!! Suicide out the back and drop kicks him over the rail! Suicide has the belt and the ladder, the crowd are booing. BIZARRO WORLD! Suicide climbs, Lethal tips the ladder! Suicide keeps his balance on the top and slides onto the box, then takes the ladder and hits Lethal with it! The ladder is horizontal across Lethal's back, the box and the top rope as Shelley has another ladder! Shelley climbs, Suicide runs across the ladder and hits a cutter off the ladder on Shelley! Suicide has the belt and climbs....WINNER!
Winner: Suicide via belt hanging Rating: ****¼ I initially thought 4.5 for this, but it felt too high. The reason I even went above 3 is that it wasn't just a spotfest. There was a megaton of psychology here, from everyone picking on Suicide to Sabin lying down for Shelley. They did well to put this first because there is no way the main event can match this for action.
Lauren has Shane Douglas, looking even more like Ricky Gervais. He''s the benchmark, he sets the standard...you know the drill.
Daniels' Roster Spot on the Line: Daniels vs. Shane Douglas
Douglas is out in yellow and black. As long as he keeps the shirt on.
They lockup and Douglas gets control with clubbing forearms and EVIL HEEL tactics. Daniels ducks a clothesline and hits a low dropkick into a headlock. ATOMIC NOOGIE! Douglas steps on the back of the knee to escape, Daniels gets a drop toehold and stands on Douglas' back. Douglas is up, whip by Daniels and a big dropkick. Stomps by Daniels and then back to the headlock. Douglas with a whip and Daniels takes him down with a shoulder block. He runs the ropes, Douglas drops down but Daniels sees it coming and reapplies the headlock. Daneils flips out of a back suplex attempt and hits a pair of kicks for 2. He whips Douglas in but the Franchise holds the ropes and goes to the floor. He avoids the baseball slide but NOT THE SPLIT-LEG ASAI! Nice. Daniels takes Douglas' head repeatedly into the apron. I think I see Hawaiian Shirt Guy! Douglas takes control by shoving Daniels into the steel steps. Douglas applies a hammerlock on the outside and then drives Daniels arm-first into the steps. Pleasant. Back inside and Douglas goes to work on the arm with hold number 4...ARM-BAR. Daniels fights out but goes down to a lariat. Modified butterfly lock applied by Douglas now. This is surprisingly good, they're going old school. Fujiwara applied now, but Daniels makes the ropes. Stomps by Douglas disrupted by an up kick by Daniels, enziguiri and Douglas is down. Clotheslines by Daniels, a Northern Lights gets 2 and he signals for the BME, but Douglas grabs his leg to stop him, then kicks him in the face! They exchange shots, Daniels gets the better of it but Douglas blocks the lariat and goes for the belly to belly! BLOCKED! STO! BME! It's over!! That was refreshingly good.
Winner: Daniels via pinfall (BME) Rating: *** I had every expectation of this being awful. Douglas hasn't exactly been active in the ring in the past few years, and Daniels is good but not the type to carry people to great matches. What happened was that they had an old-school style match with some mat work, some psychology and some good improvisation, especially considering Douglas looked to have hurt himself early on. Top notch effort
JB is with Foley. Foley is not happy about JB's numbers and thinks he's going to be fine. Then he starts singing. FAIL.
Somewhere in Australia, Sforcina is awake and smiling. But that's OK, because DAT AZZ CUBED~!
Velvet Sky is wearing a hydraulic bra tonight because DAMN she could rest her chin on those babies. I love you cameraman. Sweet Jesus.
Staredown to start. Love pushes Tara, they lock up and Love gets a headlock. To the ropes and Tara goes down to the shoulder block. Waistlock by Love and a go behind, she takes Tara down and paintbrushes her! Love poses but Tara is up! Unches and kicks, then Tara picks her up by the hair! Again! HAIR BEALE! 1 count only as Love flees to the outside. She might need some Hair Club for Women after all that. Tara kicks Love into the railing then goes out after her and rolls her back in. As the ref is not looking the other two ladies attack Tara leading to a 1 count for Love. Snap mare and a low dropkick by Love gets 2. Love gets full mount and slams Tara's head into the mat repeatedly. That's Motrin pain. Apparently Team 3D are not yet in Detroit. Hmmmm. Love whips Tara, who rolls through the backdrop for a 2 count. Kick and a high kneelift by Love followed by a soin kick for 2, then 2 more. Love throws Tara outside where Madison and Velvet lay in the shots and whip her to the steps. They throw her back in and Love gets a 2. She covers again and gets 2 more, then throws a tantrum. Boots by Love but Tara fights back, beating Love to the punch! Whip and a series of clotheslines by Tara! Scoop slam...boot to the gut and she takes her up on the shoulders...Spider's Web! Tara doesn't go for the pin, instead she goes outside and WAFFLES Velvet and Madison with some nasty right hands. She goes back in but charges into a push kick by Love. SPRAY TO THE FACE by Madison! Lights Out by Love!!! 1...2...3!
Winner: Angelina Love via pinfall (spray to the face and Lights Out) Rating: **¼ Not the best from these two ladies, but far from bad. I'm glad they didn't pull the quick switch to Tara, she's got plenty of time to get that win.
Dr Stevie and his freaks are with Lauren. He's not the bad guy, he tried to help Chris. But he can't be helped. Raven gets REALLY creepy on Lauren while Daffney looks bizarre. This stable has win written all over it.
Monsters Ball Match: Raven and Daffney vs. Abyss and Taylor Wilde
Stevie is out with the freaks. Wilde comes out smiling, like she forgot she is about to get fucked up. Shame it's going to be 3-on-2.
The faces charge the ring and attack hard. Abyss pounds on Raven in the corner and they whip the heels into each other. Abyss elevates Wilde into Raven and Daffney in the corne, then charges himself...Raven moves! Daffney gets squished! Raven calls for a trash can but Abyss punches it back into Raven's face! Wilde has pounced on Daffney...FU to Daffney! Stevie trips up Wilde from the outside! Abyss picks up Daffney and press slams her over the top and onto her team!!! Wilde is going up top...cross body to all three! Wow. Boots to Daffney by Wilde as Abyss and Raven go into the crowd. Daffney regains control andgoes to help Raven by mounting Abyss from behind! TRASH LID SHOT to Daffney by Wilde! Raven is using a lid on Abyss now as they battle through the crowd, Wilde and Daffney are following. Abyss reverses a whip and takes Raven to the railing, then Raven returns the favour. Raven sets up a table and tries to get Abyss onto it, but Abyss fights him off and takes him to the railing. Wilde is kicking seven shades of shit out of Daffney and then puts her on thr table. Wilde is climbing the set! She's on one of the speakers...SPLASH through the table!!! Neither lady is moving. That leap was maybe a little higher than a tope rope one. Ravem and Abyss are back towards the ring, Raven has a kendo stick but Abyss just punches him and he drops it. Raven is in the ring and Abyss goes under the ring...for a bag!! Glass or tacks? I say tacks. Stevie is in with a chair! WHAM!! Right on the head. Abyss is down! Raven sets up the chair while Abyss blades...yup. Drop toehold onto the chair, vintage Raven~! Wilde has amanged to get to the ring, Daffney is almost there and both are selling the table bump. Raven is drumming Abyss's head with a kendo now. 2 count only. He chokes Abyss with the kendo stick but Wilde breaks that up with a trash lid shot to Raven! Daffney LEVELS Wilde with a baking sheet!!! Raven with repeated trash can shots to the head of Abyss, but he's Abyssing up! Raven charges right into a boot! Trash can shot by Abyss! BIG kendo stick shot as Tenay kisses Granderson's ass some more. We have a new trash can in the ring...GOOZLE! Raven manages to kick the can away but still eats a chokeslam. Stevie has the ref distracted while Abyss covers!!! Abyss goes to remonstrate with Stevie but Raven hits a trash can shot. Stevie restrains Abyss while Raven charges...Abyss moves! ROCKET LAUNCHER as Abyss launches Wilde onto Raven! Stevie has the ref AGAIN!!! Abyss goes for the bag and WE HAVE TACKS! Daffney is up and laying in shots to the back of Abyss. That has about as mucn effect as a fly bite and Daffney is trapped between Abyss and the tacks...TAYLOR WILDE FUCKING SPINEBUSTERS DAFFNEY INTO THE TACKS!!!!! 1...2...NO! Stevie breaks it up! Stevie turns around....RIGHT INTO ABYSS! Goozle! Raven with a chair shot...EVENFLOW! 1...2...2.889!!! Raven sets for another DDT into the tacks this time...countered! BLACK HOLE SLAM INTO TACKS!!! 1...2...3!!!
Winners: Taylor Wilde and Abyss via pinfall (Abyss on Raven, Black Hole Slam into tacks) Rating: ***¼ Some may be nonplussed by this match, but the sheer psycho-ness of Taylor and Daffney really tooks this one to a new level in my mind. Raven and Abyss did some good stuff but it's stuff we've seen many times from both men. However if you had told me going in that Daffney would take a fierce bump into the tacks, I would have sent you for testing.
If Morgan Wins, He is in The Main Event Mafia: Matt Morgan vs. Sting
Morgan still can't decide if he's Chris Masters or Brock Lesnar. Sting is rather popular in Detroit.
They are hesitant to lock up but when they do Morgan throws him right out of the ring. Morgan follows him out and takes Sting to the railing. He lifts him by the lower body and swings him into the railing. Back to the ring and Sting catches Morgan straddling the ropes, then kicks him off the apron. Now it's Sting's turn to take Morgan to the rail. Shots on the outside by Sting, focusing on the leg. Back inside, Sting tries to take Morgan down with shoulder blocks but it doesn't work. In fact all it gets him is a clothesline. We get word that Team 3D JUST arrived. Morgan has Sting trapped in the corner and hits the alternating back elbows. Scoop slam and a big leg drop by Morgan gets 2. Big whip to the corner by Morgan. Another whip and he follows him in with an avalanche followed by a side slam for two. Most big men would be into rest holds by now. Morgan snaps Sting's neck over the top rope with tremendous athleticism then drops a guillotine leg over the bottom rope for 2. NOW we get the rest hold. Sting elbows out but Morgan takes him down again and gets 2. Back to the chinlock. Sting fights out and they exchange big right hand bombs. Sting goes to the leg kicks to take control, then avoids a charge. MISSILE DROPKICK BY STING!!! Good Lord when did you last see that? Stinger Splash! He goes for a second CARBON FOOTPRINT!!!! 1...2...no! Hellevator attempt, it was supposed to be countered to the Deathdrop but they botched it. Sting hits the Deathdrop out of nowhere but it gets 2 only! Sting lays in the boots, Morgan catches one while on his knees but Sting hits an enziguiri! Scorpion Deathlock...Morgan kicks him off! Morgan charges again, Sting moves again and hits a second rope Deathdrop! 1...2...3!!
Winner: Sting via pinfall (second rope Deathdrop) Rating: ** It wasn't a bad match, it was just short and the botch really hurt it. I think it may even have been the finish. They managed to do some good things here but it needed more.
The Boozer Cruiser is back! Team 3D don't look like they were travelling for 17 hours.
Devon and Storm to start. Storm hits a stinging jab, ducks two haymakers and grabs a headlock. Headscissors by Storm! He poses but turns into a clothesline by Devon. Scoop slam and a diving headbutt gets 2. Tag to Roode, double whip and they hit an inverted atomic/Russian leg sweep combo for 2. Devon backs into the corner and tags Ray, but Roode escapes the corner. Lockup, Ray powers Roode to the corner but Roode comes out with a kick to the gut. They trade big shots, Roode gets a kick and runs the ropes but gets a big boot to the face for his troubles. A Roode clothesline has no effect, he runs the ropes and ducks a Ray clothesline then takes Ray down with a flying forearm. They lockup again and Rey controls it, BIG slaps to the chest by Ray. Storm blocks one and lays in some of his own, he tries a kick but GERMAN BY RAY! He landed HARD on his head. Was nobody reading about Misawa or something? Roode fights back with chops, whip reversed, Roode tries a sunset flip bur Ray blocks and tags in Devon. Sidewinder by 3D gets 2. Roode is able to tag Storm, they try the double suplex but Ray comes in to block that and Devon levels Roode and Storm with clotheslines. Devon's whip is reversed by Storm but Storm charges into a boot, Roode trips Devon from outside and yanks him crotch-first into the post. Clothesline by Storm. Tag to Roode who comes in with a choke. Chinlock by Roode. Devon escapes but runs into a back elbow by Roode. Tag to Storm who lays in some shots and whips Devon, leading to each man clotheslining the other. Hot tag to Ray! Clotheslines, a back body drop, BUBBA BOMB! He is a house! En! FUEGO~! 2 count only. Double shoulder block on Roode, they set for the 3D but Storm hits an enziguiri on Ray. Devon hits the flapjack instead on Roode. Slam by Ray, Devon goes up top...headbutt of supreme discomfort! The crowd wants tables, which I believe would be a DQ. Storm intercepts Devon and Roode hits the spinebuster on Ray for a 2 count. There is a table set up on the outside. Double suplex.........BEER! MONEY~! Now the British Invasion are here? Brutus Magnus joins the commentary as does Doug Williams. This could be awesome. "That's an epic shirt you're wearing Don West" - Brutus Magnus. He might not be able to wrestle but the man is gold on the mic. Jawjacker and a flying neckbreaker by Storm gets 2. Double whip by Beer Money who drop their heads, boot to Storm and a HUGE uranage to Roode. El tag caliente! Punches galore, a back body drop and a back elbow! Spinebuster to Roode gets 2. A pait of clotheslines gets 2 more, Storm breaks it up. POWERSLAM by Devon on Storm, chokeslam to Roode and another 2 count. Ray in, they get the back suplex/neckbreaker combo! 1...2...2.901! Storm gets a cross body block on both men! "We call it a dive across actually" - Magnus. Devon with a boot for Storm and a clothesline to Roode. Ray has Roode in the electric chair, Devon is up top...Roode punches out and shoves Ray into Devon! "Righ in the bollocks!" - Magnus. WIN. Lungblower by Storm on Ray! Storm goes up with Devon, top rope rana! Splash by Roode!!! 1...2...NO!!! They position Devon up top for a double superplex, Ray comes over and pushes Storm off! DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Roode! 1...2...2.9446! Storm spits beer...into roode's face!!! 3D!!!!!! Rob Terry is distracting the ref! Ray punches him down and goes up top...HE TAKES OUT MAGNUS AND TERRY! Williams tries to interject...he goes through the table!!!! Devon pushed him off the apron...but turns right into a superkick! DWI!!! 1...2...3!!!
Winners: Beer Money Inc via pinfall (on Devon, DWI) Rating: *** I would have gone a lot higher, but that finish really annoyed me. Did we really need 7 people involved in the match ending? For all the awesome of Magnus and Williams on commentary, they needed to stay there. Why do Team 3D need protecting from Beer Money at this point?
JB is with...Good God that's Kurt Angle??? He looks like Ernie Osiris! We get the 20-minute TNA main event intros, allowing me to recover from the bullshit my laptop tried to pull on me tonight.
WIN! Angle has a Penguins jersey!!! JB says AJ is the only grand slam champ in TNA history, despite standing next to the other one. And don't even pretend the Legends belt counts. Foley is stanfing on the ladder watching the whole thing, the crowd goes bananas for him. If he weighs 280 I'm a featherweight. I just noticed Joe is wearing a Wings jersey. I noticed this because he chraged across the ring and killed Angle. Cheap. And it doesn't fit his character. Ah, the applause was for Joe donning the Wings jersey. Refs try to restrain him but it's pointless. JOE IS EJECTED FROM THE MATCH! Wait, no, he starts the match in the penalty box and Angle starts off eligible! Jarrett and Styles play tennis with Angle for the ball, Angle takes advantage of Jarrett dropping his head and boots him silly, then AJ cacthes him with a SWANK dropkick. Jarrett hits the Boss Man attack and ducks a clothesline, then hits an enziguiri. Styles and Jarrett take turns pinning Angle but both get 2 counts. Double suplex to Angle. Foley is still on the ladder as Styles gets 2 on Angle. Double whip and double back elbow to Angle, and here's Foley! He scoops up Jarrett who falls on him!! 1...2...huh? The ref stops counting, but because of the lousy camerawork we can't see why. Another 2 count that stops for no reason. And a third! Wait, what??? Foley apparently told the ref that was three and voluntarily goes to the penalty box??? Oh my dear this is a weird start. Joe is free and has commenced bitch-killing mode, having borrowed the skills from Kong for the night. In case you were not aware, Kong kills bitches dead. Clotheslines for all by Joe. He throws Angle to the floor, whips in Jarrett and hits a clothesline and enziguiri in the corner. Styles in, he grabs a headlock but Joe pushes him off. He ducks under the Joe clothesline and slides into Angle on the outside! Inverted atomic, big boot and senton to Jarrett by Joe gets 2. Chops by Joe to Jarrett while Angle and AJ fight outside. Angle is back in briefly until Joe sends him out again. Foley in with shots to Joe, Joe fights back with roaring forearms! KOKINA CLUTCH! Foley won't tap though. On the outside Angle whips Jarrett into and over the guard rail. Joe has choked out Foley and is eligible, Foley is going to the box. Angle slides the ladder in, Joe kicks him and grabs the ladder then nails Angle with it. Jarrett gets a ladder shot. Joe suplexes Angle on to the ladder! Ouch. Jarrett attacks Joe, props the ladder in the corner and whops Joe into the ladder REVERSED! Jarrett eats rung! Joe sets up the ladder, Foley is out of the box but only partialls conscious. Joe is RIGHT at the top of the ladder...FOLEY RUNS INTO THE LADDER!!! Joe took a nasty bump there, as did the ladder. Foley tosses out AJ then whips Joe into the ladder. He charges...Joe hip tosses him into the ladder! Jarrett sets up the ladder but it's about as much use as tits on a bull, so he ust throws it at Kurt on the outside and fetches a new one. He sets that one up and climbs, but Angle hits him in the nuts. Foley gets taken to the outside by Angle, then Styles takes it to Angle. Kurt tries a German...AJ flips out! He tries a tornado DDT off the ladder...blocked! NORTHERN LIGHTS INTO THE LADDER! AJ may be dead. Jarrett has a guitar....meauring Angle...kick to the gut stops him. They slug it out, Jarrett gets control and tries a Pedigree but it gets countered...Angle Lock! Jarrett has his guitar though! He kicks Kurt off...WHAM! EL KABONG! Jarrett is climbing, Foley goes up with him and they sexchange shots on the top of the ladder! SPRINGBOARD KICK TO THE LADDER BY AJ!!! Foley and Jarrett are down and the ladder fell on him! AJ takes it to Foley while Joe is on Jarrett. Jarrett to the outside, Foley is climbing on top of the penalty box! Oh boy. AJ is going up with Foley! They're fighting on the penalty box and Foley is going to suplex him off!!! AJ blocks, teeters on the edge...he's going to suplex Foley! NO! Foley tosses him off the box into the ring!!! Meanwhile Joe has the Klutch on Jarrett! He breaks it with a jawbreaker...STROKE TO THE LADDER! ANGLE SLAM ON JARRETT!!! 2 count only. FOLEY WITH AN ELBOW OFF THE BOX TO ANGLE!!!! Good GOD that man just doesn't care. That gets 3 on Angle! Foley has the ladder now and is climbing, but AJ hits Foley with the Legends belt and then kicks him off the ladder! AJ is still not legal. Angle is in the fetal position in the cage. PELE to Foley in the ring, then Joe elevates AJ over the top and on to Foley on the floor! AJ pins Foley on the outside and is now eligible.Jarrett has the ladder behind Joe...levels him with it!!! Angle is out of the box but barely moving, Jarrett is on his way up the ladder AJ is slowly going up too. Kurt has Jarrett's leg, Jarrett jumps off the ladder and DDT's Kurt! Sweet. AJ retrieves the belt, Joe and AJ exchange forearms, Joe gets a flurry and runs into an AJ dropkick. Everyone is down. Foley is out of the box and takes the belt from AJ, then levels him with it. Joe charges with a low kick to Foley, and Jarrett takes it to him on the outside. Foley gets control but Joe is at the top of the ladder!!! AJ has his boot! Joe fights and fights but eventually goes down. AJ tries to climb with the belts around his neck but Joe cuts him off. Jarrett comes in long enough to get knocked outside again...TOPE BY JOE TO THE OUTSIDE!! ANGLE SLAM...NO! STYLES CLASH!!! STYLES CLASH!! STYLES CLASH!!! AJ has the belt! He makes sure he has a clear run and climbs! JOE POWERBOMBS HIM OFF THE LADDER! Joe takes down AJ with a clothesline!! He has the belt and climbs! But Angle is up there too!!! JOE HANDS THE BELT TO ANGLE! JOE HANDS THE BELT TO ANGL! ANGLE IS THE CHAMP!
Winner: Kurt Angle via belt hanging Rating: ****½ Remember how I said that this match couldn't top the opener? FAIL. Everyone pulled out all the stops on this one, even Foley with his dive off the penatly box. Even the ending was one nobody saw coming (no you didn't, you're all full of shit.), and for once Russo has pulled off a swerve that works. I wonder if this means Sting really was Joe's advisor? Either way, this is TNA's match of the year and a real contender for the overall award.
TNA really pushed this PPV to the limit. Not a bad match on the card and every story came to a satisfying ending. Bravo TNA. Bravo.

Very Good Show. Swerve not withstanding...
Actually, I'm shocked by a TNA swerve for the first time in...well, EVER.

Suicide(c) wins X Division King of the Mountain match to retain the X TITLE was ***3/4, it was a great spotfest
Daniels d. Douglas was ** and the outside moonsault was botched by Douglas but anyways better than expected
Angelina Love(c) d. Tara to retain the Knockouts TITLE was *1/4
Taylor Wilde and Abyss d. Raven and Daffney in a monsters ball match was **1/2
Sting d. Matt Morgan was **1/4
Beer Money d. Team 3D(c) to win the TAG TITLE was **3/4, it could have been better if they didn’t overbook it, to their credit though this was the first time that I have felt that a tag match was special.
KURT FUCKING ANGLE wins the TNA WORLD TITLE in a King of the Mountain match to win the TITLE was *** and I like Joe joining the mafia and the finish, but its getting kinda N.W.O. like with how everyone is joining so hopefully the originals or whats left of them get Mick Foley
PPV Rating 7.3 out of 10

Joe hands the belt to Angle. *rolls eyes* I say TNA with the same mocking tone that I once reserved for the last days of Dubbya Cee Dubbya. I can't wait to hear the explanation for this "riveting turn of events." hahaha.

WTF just happened?

In my opinion, the company had become completely unwatchable in recent months, but with the usual Thursday shows on break, I'd watch it occasionally out of boredom. However, Slammiversary completely killed whatever watchability this nonsense of a wrestling company had left. In the King of the Mountain main event match, TNA made the finger poke of DOOM fiasco refreshing. At least Nash and Hogan wrapped that shit up quick. Here, we got treated to a solid, grueling match only for Samoa Joe to hand Kurt Angle the belt once they were both on the ladder, giving him the win.
The lineage of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship now goes like this:
Kurt Angle (1 day)
Vacated (0 days)
Kurt Angle (119 days)
Sting (2 days)
Kurt Angle (180 days)
Samoa Joe (182 days)
Sting (189 days)
Mick Foley (63 days)
Kurt Angle
Since it's inception a little over two years ago, only one individual currently below the age of 40 has been champion.
Screw this company, its fans, and its workers.
The booking may be the work of the creative team, but screw anyone who allows themselves to still be associated with this garbage. If I wanted to watch senior citizens beat on each other, I'd hire some bums and watch them swing on each other for a 40 ounce.
TNA, you are now dead to me.

Solid pay per view all around. It wasn't amazing, yet it really didn't have anything bad. Crowd seemed to be in and out of the action throughout the night. Of course, the big event ended with Joe 'turning on AJ and TNA' to help Angle win the TNA title. First, I don't want to sound like a know-it-all becuase with TNA, it is near impossible to predict what will happen next, but after Kurt Angle's backstage promo, I typed to a buddy of mine online that Joe was going to help Angle win the belt. Anyone who didn't see that coming and was 'shocked by Joe's actions', please. Again, good event, but the swerve just to swerve made no sense, and seeing the Main Event Mafia clapping for Joe and Angle to close the show was just a very crushing feeling for any long time TNA fan.

Monsters Ball Was pretty entertaining .
Never in my dreams did I expect the girls to do what they did .
Tonight I realized how much the PG rating has watered down WWE .
TNA , Take a bow , In the words of Mr Burns -
EXCELLENT !!

We shit on TNA all too often for swerving for the sake of the swerve but I must hand it to them, that was a solid swerve.

Daniels - Douglas - worst match .
Monster's Ball - Not a technical masterpiece , but i enjoyed it the
most . Very Nice .
KOTM - Both were quite good .
Quote the Raven ~
NEVERMORE
Good to see Raven again .
IMO ,
TNA Slammiversary - 7.3
Best TNA Show in a long time , loved
it .

"JB says AJ is the only grand slam champ in TNA history, despite standing next to the other one. And don't even pretend the Legends belt counts."
Since Angle's never held the Legends Title, I think they ARE counting the Legends Title.
Which makes them look like idiots.

Of course every thing TNA does sucks. You'll never please some people or they just hate TNA and will never give them credit. I know that most the people that comment on here run successful wrestling promotions, right? This was the best show I've seen all year. That's not coming from a TNA only fan, that's coming from a wrestling fan.
Posted By: dean1983 (Guest) on June 21, 2009 at 11:36 PM
Absolutely fantastic PPV, the best PPV either company has put on this calendar year.
How is Joe, ONE PERSON, joining the MEM "everyone joining...like the nWo?"
It makes complete sense. Joe has said for the past month that the title was secondary to him and that Angle was his #1 priority.
He never lied.
Great, great PPV. Great work by the entire TNA staff.
Posted By: miles (Guest) on June 21, 2009 at 11:38 PM
Solid show.
I'd definitely give it a 7.3.

A Grand Slam results in scoring 4 runs, a grand slam champion is one that has held all FOUR titles.

Dude what i mean is the mafia has Nash, Booker, Angle, Sting, Steiner and Joe while the frontline has AJ, Jeff, Daniels and maybe Foley. so 6 to 3 is pretty bad although it does give them the chance to elevate some faces to make it 6 on 6

It is time for mcmahon to put those ungrateful rasslers in their place just like he took care of warrior and savage. you will never see those assholes in any wwe hof

Goodness wwe marks go watch HHH-Orton again and enjoy Donald Trump and that PG rating. Blacklist Tara? LMAO goodness you all are such minions its sad why because she went for a better opportunity who cares honestly. Honestly I love when people stick it to Vince who has screwed over more then a few people in his life.
Joes turn has been sitting there for a while since hes had issues with AJ not too long ago where they were brawling and have been teasing tension for a while. Joe helping his new groupmate win the title makes sense since he never said he wanted the title and was focused on beating angle.
By the way I'd take Angle even at this age over the 40 plus champions that we've seen recently and definitly an improvement over Foley so give me a break with that. BY the way Joe has injuries that were even mentioned on the broadcast so he probably won't be around much anyways maybe in a non competitive role. So that could be another explanation for him letting Angle have the title instead of himself. Yeah this compares to Nash just laying down for Hogan to drop the title (Rolls eyes like the brilliant Ric) give me a break.

Yeah Vince is so classy I cry when I think about something putting one over on him. By the way if Vince wants to put william Perry, Koko B ware and Pete Rose in the HOF over qualified people then I don't think Savage, Warrior, or Victoria should cry too much.

I've never been swerve like that before! TNA creative did something that really gave people a swerve! Ratings are going to increase this week
Posted By: brett (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 12:45 AM
I didn't like the swerve at the end but this was an excellent ppv and easily one of the best ppv's either promotion has had. The first KOTM Match was a spectucular match with all kinds of innovative spot and death defying bumps. These 5 guys went out there and put on a tremendous match. You would like to see The MCMG and Lethal and Creed get bigger pushes and be booked stronger on Impact. Daniels Vs Douglas was surprisingly good. Daniels did an excellent job of carrying Douglas and Shane busted his butt in this match. I wouldn't mind Shane sticking around as a manager but not a wrestler. Tara Vs Angelina Love was disapointing imo. That said imo it was the right booking decision. Love is over as a heel and has done a good job as the champ. Let Tara and Kong chase her for a few months and when one of them beats her it will mean more. I think the same people that are bitching that Tara lost would be bitching about a WWE reject beating a Tna star instead. The Monsters ball match was also better than expected. It was pretty gory at times and an excellent brawl with the women taking some nasty bumps. Raven and Abyss have good chemistry too. I would lovbe to help the ridiculously hot Daffney heal her wounds. I hope Raven sticks around as he still has something to offer. Morgan Vs Sting was rather medicore with a pretty badly botched spot near the end. I am not sure where they go with Morgan now. Beer Money Vs Team 3D was pretty good(althought not as good as their Lockdown matchup) I would have liked to have seen Beer Money go over clean and then have The British Invasion run in and beat both team down(while those teams are shaking hands) The second KOTM Match was tremendous. Everyone looked great and hit there spots took some nasty bumps and really added some drama. Joe was booked as a badass while Styles shined as usual. Foley was better than usual and that elbowdrop was sick. Jarrett and Angle were great too. I hated the finish though. Why go to war with the M.E.M get hurt bad twice and then join them. Hell why hand the title over when you can take it for yourself? Also I think Joe was headed for a heel turn(and I'd have no issue with it) but this way is stupid imo. Why not have Styles sneak in win the title tonight under Joe's nose and plant the jealousy seeds and the heel turn? Still a good ppv but this swerve makes no sense and is akin to the WWE world titles changing hands at every ppv just top draw some attention.

yeah I mean she can be back in the WWE and job time after time to Undertaker's future husband(Michelle McCool) again. I think she's in much better shape leaving the WWE than Gail Kim is in leaving TNA for the WWE. I do blame TNA for not ponying up the cash to keep Kim though.

Joe helping his new groupmate win the title makes sense since he never said he wanted the title and was focused on beating angle.
------
Except... THE GUY HE HANDED THE TITLE TO WAS ANGLE. The guy he wanted to beat up.
It was a stupid ass swerve, and I am seriously in shock that anyone thinks it was good. It doesn't make sense at all. Why would Joe want to join a faction that tried to end his career? The MEM all let Joe beat the crap out of them to maintain cover that Joe was helping them now? EVen so, why did they bother maintaining that cover all the way to the end of the match? Once the match started, Joe working with Angle would have made a lot more sense.
ALso, this is the 2nd straight TNA PPV that made their world title look like shit. Last month, Sting chose to become the leader of MEM over trying to win the title. This month, Joe decides to give this supposed coveted title to Angle. All in all "lol tna"

This is proof that when TNA does something right, they do it right. Genesis, Lockdown were good but this must be TNAs best PPV since Bound for Glory

Pop quiz: Anyone know the last monumental mistake WCW made before they imploded and became the most famous dead company in wrestling history?
Answer: The fingerpoke heard around the world. Kevin Nash taking the finger of doom to the chest from Hogan and falling flat on his back.
Tonight TNA, WCW's greatest imitator and admirer, just made the same massive mistake. Samoa Joe
has the chance to win the World Title and he hands it to Kurt Angle. Considering the amount of "talent" involved in both companies, you'd think they'd steer clear of such a monumentally historic folly. It's not really hard.
There are many rules in wrestling. Some you can bend. Others you can even break if you have a good reason. There is one you never break for any reason, EVER. You never de-value your championship belt. It is the prop around which your very existence hinges. All roads, PPV buyrates, ratings points and revenue dollars begin and end there. First off, your founder should never say he could care less about being world champion. Those words should never come out of his mouth, much less over and over. More importantly....
No wrestler should EVER, under any circumstances, give away his chance at the world title to another man. Not your brother, your father, or even your best friend. Not for some cheap ass swerve. You don't do it.
It's the reason you form factions in the first place. It's why you put your body on the line. It's what you bleed for. You don't give your worst enemy your sure thing, your world title win in order to get into his faction. That the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
RIP TNA. It was nice knowing you, but you brought it on yourself. Here's to two more good years, tops.
Posted By: shone jones (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 01:29 AM
TAZZ is the guy behind this to screw with Angle -
It will be revealed that Tazz put Lashley up to messing with Angle and then had Joe go after him and now Tazz is going to come to get him some...
Look at it - Joe's been wearing the towel the SAME WAY.
Don't be so stupid!

If Morgan Wins, He is in The Main Event Mafia: Matt Morgan vs. Sting
?
Shouldn't this have been more ? I mean to make this match the Impact before Slammiversary was insulting let alone clearly filler ! The title Whoever wins is leader of the main Event mafia screams they wasted that Headline !
And even though it wasn't ( but it was supposed to pretend to be important for ppv sales sake ) to have this match in the middle before that tag matches was insulting as well !
So Sting is leader yet he isn't the champ ? And nOw that Angle is Champ he is ow the leader of the mAFia
HUH ?
WTF ?
WOW i am definitely a fan lost ! After not watching for over 5 months i can see this is truly a cluster fuck !

Only giving him the title because the bookers felt sorry for him not winning the big match? Oh, but I'm sure you being the Vince ass kisser that you are simply forgot that little detail?

All around a very good ppv. Top to bottom everything delivered in some way or at least didn't disappoint. MOTN = Tie between KOTM matches. I can't choose a winner here. Great X division match which I love, and a very good Main Event Caliber match. Lets just say win/win. Worst match of the night = Daniels vs Franchise. Not that this match was bad, actually it was pretty decent considering Shane has been out of the business for so long and looks out of shape. That and the fact that this match had an incredibly hard act to follow. Biggest suprise of the night besides the Joe Swerve = Matt Morgan starting to look like a legit top talent. He is really starting to come into his own as Jim Cornette said he would. Greatest pop for me = AJ teasing winning the World Title. It has been far too long since AJ has been on the top of the mountain and it is good to see him close to being back where he belongs. Now the only thing he needs to do is shave that ridiculous chest hair. 1975 called AJ, and they want their porno stunt double back.
Now on to the Joe swerve. This is the only thing I did not like about this ppv. I thought it took an otherwise very well booked show and muddied the waters. I sincerely hope this wasn't a Russo swerve just for the sake of swerve, but to me it does not make a lot of sense. Joe is much better at being a bad ass heel than a face, but this came off making Joe look like a bitch once again. So much for nation of Violence, I guess that is dead and I wonder where that leaves Taz? TNA needs to do something rather spectacular, like a heated feud with AJ that actually means something, like for the World Title, or with World title implications, or Joe just comes across looking like he is being wasted again by TNA. What the hell was wrong with the idea of having Joe just be a loner who does his own thing?
Posted By: Simoleon Joe (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 05:15 AM
Wow Chris you just massively overrated that PPV.... for me nothing goes above ***1/2 (for the main and the first match), not a fan of the KOTM gimmick it is well... to gimmicky.
The ending KILLED the whole show for me, seriously what a nonsensical turn by Joe... it was a 'swerve' to do a 'swerve' makes no sense in the context of the storyline.... Typical Russo.
I'm just so sick how every PPV ends with shinanigans... wait hang on nearly every MATCH ends with interference.
Thank God for free streaming.

I've only been watching TNA for around six months or so. I can confidently say that this was the best show from them that I've seen. The swerve with Joe and Angle doesn't mean that Joe has joined up with the MEM. It could mean that Angle is forming his own little group. Kurt may be sick of Sting as the MEM leader. Or Joe may be lulling Angle so he can get some sort of special revenge. Overall I thought all of the matches told their stories well. I just wish their weekly show was more oriented towards wrestling and tell their stories that way. This was a 8/10 for me.

Look, if you're gonna rag on WWE, and then Praise TNA and all its 1.1 rating glory, then get the facts straight.
Vince just pulled a 10X major swerve less than 7 days ago. A swerve which topped this easily. And, it made sense kinda. Hrmmm. Imagine that. A swerve making sense. So it's actually 1-1. Lashley does not count being a swerve, he hasn't done squat. Nobody cared about him, and nobody has missed him since.
Anybody else find it odd, that this assbackwards, mumbo jumbo bullshit-assed swerve that made NO sense happened less than a week when Vince dropped a bombshell on Raw?
I forgot. TNA fans such as yourself hate logic.

Just like what happend to Jeff Hardy and Booker T after leaving WWE under good terms, Tara gets her very first TNA title shot in her first TNA ppv, and she doesn't win. I pretty much expected that.

You're right. That match should have ended in a DQ. She ended up looking weak after doing the job to one of the Bleached Blond Bimbos.
Posted By: shone jones (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 11:53 AM
She just did a job to a bimbo that should have never held the title in the first place.
Posted By: shone jones (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 12:38 AM
Actually, that bimbo maybe the most over woman's wrestler in both TNA and WWE so she should get a run with the belt. She is a better heel than any WWE or TNA woman's performer so her beating a WWE star in her first PPV match is actually something that should have happened.
It isn't like Hogan coming over to WCW and beating Flair for the WCW title in his first match...
Posted By: Industry (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 11:54 AM
as much as anyone wants to bash it, this is a contender for ppv of the yr., honestly. Now about the swerve, gotta say that it's NOT a good thing to see someone hand over the belt but it certainly was shocking and out of nowhere. I just have to see where they are going with it before I can pass judgement on it. To those comparing this to the "finger poke of doom", get real, this is not that, and angle is not a washed up hulk hogan that will hog the title
Posted By: cj (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 11:58 AM
Oh, you mean like the way the WWE completely de-valued their World Title by giving it to a man (Batista) whom they knew wouldn't be able to defend it due to injury? Only giving him the title because the bookers felt sorry for him not winning the big match? Oh, but I'm sure you being the Vince ass kisser that you are simply forgot that little detail?
Anyway, this PPV gave us wrestling fans exactly what we've been looking for: making the X Division look strong again, the tag team title match, and a main event which has a potentially juicy storyline coming down the road.
Posted By: Orlando (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 03:04 AM
You're missing the point. The other is speaking from a storyline aspect and your speaking from a booking aspect. What he is saying is that your characters should NEVER not WANT the belt under any situation ever and I totally agree with him. Your comparison with Batista is apples to oranges man. Did Orton GIVE Batista the belt in a story line of some sort because he didn't "want it" anymore? No, within the storyline, Batista WON the belt and Orton LOST IT. Orton didn't fall down and let him him beat him.....I'm not seeing your logic...
Posted By: Industry (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 12:02 PM
I suppose you no longer watch WWE either then since WWE have more OLD talent and over the hill talents working for them the last few years!
U got Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, William Regal, Finlay, Tommy Dreamer, Batista. TNA and WWE have pretty much the same amount over over 40 or more! Also aside from CM Punk FINALLY, and Jeff Hardy WWE hasn't pushed anyone new to the title since Edge won his first WWE title. The las three years its been Cena HHH orton Edge and Taker who have dominated WWE main event scene..and count the reigns they've had.. and how long each have had, orton and Cena are the only guys in WWE under 40 that have had fairly lengthy reigns. All of Edge's reigns have been very short lived!

I think it's pretty easy to see the idea here guys. Joe is still being advised by Tazz. This gives Joe the Chase. Allow Joe too get his big moment title win. The reason no one likes when the up and comer wins the title is because they usually win it in a multi person match, and it doesnt have the big win feel. Tazz instructed Joe to do this!!!!!!!
Posted By: Common Sense (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 12:43 PM
Why does it really matter if a title is devalued?????? Overall wrestling is not a real sport and is just entertainment. The ending entertained me as stupid as it was so its all good.
Also I cant stand to watch WWE anymore after watching TNA. When I watch WWE I feel like the whole damn product is for 9 year olds. Compare a WWE crowd to a TNA crowd. WWE crowds may be 5x bigger but most of the audience are annoying kids where TNA's audience is full of intelligent wrestling fans.

To those who keep mentioning the fingerpoke of doom yes it was terrible but the follow up is what killed them with GOldberg never getting his revenge or his validation. They obviously need to book it correctly to make this work. I think everyone is overreacting honestly.
Posted By: Guest#4184 (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 02:02 PM
Actually, the alleged swerve may not be that much of a swerve:
Option 1)
Joe wants Angle to have the title so that when he destroys him, he can take everything from him, including his belt.
Option 2)
Angle was ousted as the leader of the MEM. Maybe Angle & Joe conspired to get even with the MEM and Angle will subsequently turn on them.
This makes sense as Joe and Angle share a lack of respect for Sting and Angle could have kayfabe set it up for Joe to take out the rest of the Mafia.
Option 3)
Joe, a former world champion, has had his head turned with the offer of a spot in the MEM. So what if they tried to take him out.
Remember when Austin shook hands with his nemesis Vince to get the title. Or when Stone Cold joined up with the man who tried to run him down and end his career, Triple H. Or when Austin joined the Invasion / Alliance?
Yep, sometimes, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em is a fair enough explanation.
-----
All valid explanations when you look at them, in wrestling terms, they aren't that uncommon.
Preferably, I'd like to see Angle, Joe and Matt Morgan as uber heels taking out the MEM and the FrontLine to reign supreme.
So before you think TNA swerved for swerves sake, it will make sense in the long run.
Besides which, it was a damn sight more enjoyable than anything on the RAW brand, a brand which to enjoy, you have to be declared mentally retarded.

Posted By: shone jones (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 10:27 AM
the one that got booed out of the building and has been mocked by everyone yeah wow what a big swerve and by the way was stupid as heck. Keep saying 1.1 (by the way they don't do that anymore) doesn't mean a thing when the best Vince could do is bring back Donald Trump to wwe which won't last long either. Trump will realize what a horrible idea it was for him and drop out of it within a few months while Joe as a heel will probably add more steam and freshness to TNA since most people loved him more as a badass heel. Heres logic jackass Sting is clearly on his way out of the MEM and its been teased that Joe and AJ were having issues for a couple of months now so the two work out a deal to work together to win the title.

You know, I shit on TNA almost every chance I get, but this really doesn't sound like it was a bad show. Angle winning the belt and Samoa Joe's senseless swerve notwithstanding, this is probably a PPV I wouldn't have hated. Certainly better than anything with HHH, Orton, or Batista in a WWE main event.
Posted By: Zingy (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 02:23 PM
That was the best executed swerve in wrestling since survivor series 98 (deadly game) when the rock turned heel and joined the corporation...you had two years of history between kurt and joe building an amazing rivalry, you had the nation of violence seemingly formed just to trick everyone, you had kurt angle's television time basically handed over to foley so kurt could fly under the radar untill this title win, you had everyone convinced it would be tazz who was in joe's ear...the jerseys in the beginning...joe taking out nash, booker and steiner on impact....god, thats how its supposed to be done...awesome...just because wwe dominates tna doesnt mean this shouldnt get the proper credit it deserves
-also, the beer money match was better than what most are saying...the finish actually adds to the psycology of the match as beer money have based their entire career on cheating and taking advantage of whatever interference comes their way

"Remember when Austin shook hands with his nemesis Vince to get the title."
A huge difference, though, is that Austin did that to increase his chances of winning the title. Joe HAD the title right there. Doing what he did took him further away from the title, not closer to it.

A very good ppv.
The work was good.Very good in parts.
They had an OMFG moment with the Daffney on the tacks spot. (Really hope though that they don't use it often as it's bad for wrestlers and loses it's impact) and they had a unforseen swerve that you can build a back-history on.
It'll need work to make it work, and if it fails it'll be seen as Russo-riffic but it does open new storylines up with a back-history, so is intriguing as to why it happened.
Good job. Hope it continues

yes because chanting TNA TNA TNA takes so much brain power. Also i hate TNA crowds because they yell this is awesome event after lame things. A dive over the top rope is nice but awesome not when you see it a million times. The swerve makes no damn sense though. Way to make the title look important but having one guy claim he doesn't want it and another guy give it away. Joe may have problems with AJ but Kurt was supposedly on his hitlist and he attacked Kurt last week on Impact. Then the guys he beat the holy hell out of in Steiner, nash, and Booker congratulate him. Please explain the logic in this?

I gave up on TNA until a few weeks ago. I find that if I stop thinking (even during matches with X Division guys) that I can enjoy most of it. Yeah, there's logic problems with the swerve, but it's something that's extremely interesting for once.
Posted By: HeelHeat (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 06:55 PM
I wonder just how many of the people sitting here bitching about how bad this PPV was actually WATCHED it.
Because it was, hands down, better than any WWE PPV this year. And I watch all of WWE's PPVs. It's quite rare that I bother with TNA PPVs at all, but Slammiversary is one I always get.
Everything except the Angelina/Tara match was very well executed, and the "swerve" didn't devalue their title. (Where do you people come up with this shit?)

a pic of Velvet's babies ?
Posted By: YOO (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 07:34 PM
it does devalue the title because it makes it seem like guy's don't want it. The ultimate prize is the World Championship belt in any promotion and for guys to not want it like jeff and Joe it doesn't make a lick of damn sense. Why are they even in the match if they don't want it? I am sorry but i hate it when guys say i don't want the belt or have a chance to win it but don't want to win it. If Joe really wanted to beat the shit out of Angle wouldn't it be easier as world champ to do. Kurt could win a number one contender match and Joe could get his revenge. Just because one company uses a storyline doesn't make sense doesn't mean we like it. Guys try to defend TNA because WWE did it. That si dumb just beause someone else did something stupid doesn't mean you have to follow. We are talking about a group that joe has been against form the start. A group that broke his arm. A group Joe had just taken out 3 members from come out and applaud him. I don't know but if someone beat me up to where i wasn't able to work i would be a little upset applauding them after they had done it.

The fact you haven't watched for 5 months mean your opinion doesn't count!
That was an excellent PPV! The opening match was fantastic and Sabin had me in stitches complaining that Shelly held his tights.
Daniels/Douglas was better than expected.
The monsters ball match was brutal and a great watch.
The women's title match was so-so.
The tag team title match was very, very fun and I laughed like crazy when West did his British accent!
The main event was great and the swerve was completely unexpected and amazing!

Yes, Andre the Giant gave it to Ted Dibiase in the WWF, and look where they are now. They don't even exist any more! Now there's that newfangled "WWE" thing out there, but it can't be the same company.
Posted By: Jimbob Jones (Guest) on June 22, 2009 at 04:56 AM"
It's not the same company. Are you really gonn ahva eus believe that there haven't been a shitload of changes in what that company was then and what it is now? They do not use the word wrestling anymore because Vince is so delusional that he thinks he's too good for wrestling. To Vince McMahon "wrestling is a dirty word. Do they call their wrestlers "Wrestlers"? No. They call them "Superstars." Do they call what they do "wrestling"? No, Vince calls it "sports entertainment" because he's under the delusion that he isn't even in the wrestling business anymore. Ted Turner called him on the phone and said "Vince, I'm in the wrestling business now." Vince replied "That's fine. I'm in the entertainment business." Vince McMahon has always desperately wanted to be a respected prestigious member of the entertainment industry and to be very mainstream and that's something he will never be. What his company does, the product they out out is looked upon as a joke by the vast majority of the population. What's worse for him, even though he might not have realized it yet, notice I said "yet", is that his product is looked upon as a joke be the same exact people that used to love watching WWWF and even WWF. The only reason you don't realize how many people thatused to watch them and enjoyed going to the matches have completely quit watching Vince's product is because they are done with it. They aren't gonna come to a wrestling message board and explain to people why they have quit watching McMahon's product. When WCW went ut of business, did WWF's rating's rise by the number of people that were watching WCW? Did WWF's rating's increase from what they were a month before to a rating equal to that of what WWF and WCW combined were pulling. Fuck no! Not even close! Vince has lost the wrestling audience, he's lost a lot of the sports entertainment audience and the only thing that is still keeping his company profitable is that he's expanded to 145 countries. They're making a huge portion of their revenues from foreign markets. If you looked at their domestic PPV buyrates, just domestic, and compare them to UFC's domestic PPV buyrates, UFC is dominating. DOMINATING by more than a two to one ratio. The people that used to watch wrestling and quit watching it now watch UFC.
