Fight Without Honor: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Delirious.
Jimmy sends MsChif and Brodie Lee to the back before the match. Delirious UNLEASHES THE FURY early. He destroys Jimmy and hits a crazy, out-of-control suicida. That sets up a drop toehold into the barricade. Hogewood: Jimmy's having a Panic Attack! And Nardo's having a spaz attack. Jimmy, now busted open, uses a chair to come back. He sets Delirious up in it and hits a crossbody. Delirious uses the chair himself and sets up for a Panic Attack, but Jimmy spears him. END TIME! Delirious makes the ropes. Jimmy yanks out the railroad spike and charges, but Delirious avoids. The spike gets stuck in the top turnbuckle. Delirious hits a Cobra Clutch suplex. Delirious sets up for Shadows over Hell, but Jimmy launches the chair at him. Delirious falls to the apron, so Jimmy sets to spear him off the apron through a table. Delirious ducks out of the way, though, and Jimmy collides with the table headfirst. That sets up Shadows over Hell through the table. Back in, and Delirious gets the pin at 8:54. Some good spots and creativity in the finish lift this above the garbage match I was expecting. **1/2
Jimmy breaks down crying and stabs himself with the spike. That's some good, old-fashioned emo. Prazak thinks this signals the end of Jimmy's movement.
Bryan Danielson and Tyler Black agree that they don't have to like each other to be successful as a tag team.
Speaking of tag teams, The Young Bucks debut on HDNet. Picture the Hardyz without the accents.
The Young Bucks vs. Sal Rinauro & Brandon Day.
It's like the Rockers vs. Barry Horowitz and some nobody. I really like the Jacksons ring work. Just like Shawn and Marty would be doing if they were just starting out. The fans are apathetic, presumably due to the Bucks being pretty boys and due, in part, to burnout. The Bucks finish with More Bang for Your Buck (an extended finishing sequence too long to go into). *
Claudio Castagnoli says, if Brent Albright wants him in the ring again, he'll have to put his country's flag on the line.
Highlights of Austin Aries reclaiming the ROH Title. Good! That brings things somewhat more in line with current. Not much, but a little.
Austin Aries said his grandma always told him not to be a braggart, but she's dead, so who cares. Ha ha! That's horrible. And awesome.
Davey Richards nearly tops him by associating the American Wolves with Ringo Starr and Jesus Christ.
Brent Albright vs. Ernie Osiris (w/Prince Nana).
Ernie is apparently trying to top Bastion Booger for most disgusting human being on the planet. He licks his own armpit a few times. Meh. It's not disgusting if you lick your own. If you're forced to lick Jerry Saggs' armpit, THAT'S disgusting. Osiris is pretty small, so Brent manhandles him. Half-Nelson Suplex finishes at 2:25. Just a squash to get Brent out there so…*
… he can accept Claudio's challenge to a flag match.
Before the main event, Nigel McGuinness tells the challengers that they'll never get along.
ROH World Tag Titles: The American Wolves (w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey) vs. Bryan Danielson & Tyler Black.
Hogewood says Danielson and Black are the better individual wrestlers. Hmm. I'll stipulate. What's your minor premise, sir? Danielson and Richards to a typically great sequence on the mat. Edwards rams Danielson into the apron to take over. That leads to Danielson playing face-in-peril. Black gets the hot tag and cleans house. Kick battle erupts! Danielson catches Edwards and rides him down into the Triangle Choke. Black adds the Bucklebomb and Superkick to Richards, but Richards' arm falls on the rope to avoid the pin. Danielson tosses Edwards aside and tells Black to go up. Black sets up for the Phoenix Splash, but Danielson accidentally clips the ropes while knocking Edwards off the apron. Black loses his balance and gets in Danielson's face about it. DISSENTION! Black is so flustered that Richards is able to roll him up for the win at 18:27. Pretty lame ending for a good match. This was held down by the tag formula until the last five minutes. The action was good, but apparently not as good as their 45-minute draw in Toronto (review forthcoming). ***1/4
After the match, Danielson and Black argue over who was at fault, and Danielson slaps him in the face! Blowoff needed!
The 411: The first and last matches were just fine, but this one was gone from my mind as soon as I watched it. I'm looking forward to Danielson vs. Black III, though.
