411's WWE Superstars Report 10.15.09
Posted by Rob McNew on 10.15.2009
A blockbuster main event highlights Superstars as John Morrison and CM Punk renew acquaintances. Also Mark Herny and Chris Masters face off for the final spot on Team Raw, and Tommy Dreamer does battle with Vladimir Kozlov
-Hosted by Michael Cole, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Jim Ross, Todd Grisham, Josh Mathews, & Matt Striker
Bragging Rights Qualifying Match: Mark Henry vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters
As announced on Raw this is for the final spot on Team Raw for the Fourteen Man Tag at the PPV. Henry shoves Masters away on a lockup, and then delivers a pair of shoulderblocks. Masters bails to the floor, and then comes back in and attacks with a boot. An attempted Irish Whip by Masters is blocked, and Henry delivers a clothesline. Henry then dips into the 1980's fat guy offense with the double never pinch to the "trapezoid" muscles according to Jerry Lawler. Masters is able to get to the ropes to break the hold, and then he slides to the apron drawing Henry in and allowing him to drop Henry's throat across the top rope. Masters tries to flip inside with a sunset flip, but Henry just blocks that and sits on his chest. Henry stands on the chest of Masters before Chris rolls to the floor AGAIN to buy more time. This time Henry is out after him, and he picks up Masters to ram him into the post. Masters is able to slide down the back and instead its Henry who runs into the post as we head to break. Back from commercial as Henry continues to empty the fat guy play book locking Masters in a bear hug. Henry squashes Masters into the corner, but Masters comes right back with a low dropkick to the knee. Masters chop blocks Henry and covers for a two count. Masters goes for the Masterlock, but he can't get it locked on the big man so he goes back to work on the knee. Masters drops down on the injured knee after draping it on the bottom rope, and then locks in a spinning toehold. Henry kicks him off, and then delivers a pair of clotheslines and a headbutt. Henry goes for a bodyslam, but the injured knee can't hold Masters. Masters hits the ropes and goes for a crossbody, but he gets caught in the Worlds Strongest Slam which Henry is able to complete before collapsing with the injury. That gets the win for Henry at 10:18 who does a fine job here for selling the legwork by Masters. This wasn't great, but it was far better than it had any right being. Winner: Mark Henry (Pinfall-World's Strongest Slam **)
Vladimir Kozlov (w. Ezekiel Jackson) vs. Tommy Dreamer
Kozlov counters out of a go behind with an armdrag, and then pushes Tommy into the corner. Tommy delivers a back elbow to a charging Kozlov, but runs right into a clothesline. Tommy stops a back drop with a kick, and delivers a crossbody off the ropes for two. An angry Kozlov charges at Tommy, but he pulls the ropes down sending Kozlov to the floor. Tommy delivers a baseball slide to both Zeke and Vladdy, but when he attempts to dive off the apron onto them Kozlov moves and Tommy gets a face full of announce table. Back inside the ring now with Kozlov firmly in control he goes to work on a noticeably swollen elbow of Tommy. Striker sells the elbow injury as if Tommy has contracted the plague. Tommy hits a small package for two, but Vlad goes right back on the offense with an armbar. Kozlov hits a bodyslam, and then drops a elbow which misses. Kozlov goes for a shoulderblock in the corner, but Tommy moves and Vlad eats the ringpost. Tommy hits a high knee and delivers a clothesline off the second rope. Dreamer connects with a low dropkick to the face for a two count, and then climbs to the second rope for a series of rights. Kozlov dumps him to the apron, but Dreamer is right back to drop Kozlov on the top rope. Kozlov distracts the referee long enough for Zeke to get a shot from the floor on the injured elbow. Kozlov then delivers a battering ram headbutt, and then the Iron Curtain connects for the pin at 6:01. Afterward as is tradition Zeke also performs his finisher on Tommy. About what you'd expect from these two. A bit sloppy, but still somewhat entertaining. Winner: Vladimir Kozlov (Pinfall-Iron Curtain *1/2)
-Same Orton/Cena package that aired Monday.
John Morrison vs. CM Punk
The Miz joins us on commentary, still wearing his Mr. Rogers outfit from Monday. No Jim Ross however for this one. Not sure why as this appears to be at the Smackdown taping. Morrison takes Punk over with a headlock, and then comes off the ropes with a shoulderblock. Morrison hits the ropes again, and takes over Punk a second time with a headlock. Punk is able to back Morrison into the corner, and deliver a knee to the gut on the break to gain control. Punk hits the ropes but runs into a flapjack from Morrison who follows up with the standing shooting star press for two. Morrison goes back to the side headlock, but Punk counters this time with a back suplex for a two count of his own. Punk buries a pair of elbows to the side of the neck, and locks in a reverse chinlock. Morrison armdrags out of that, but runs into a powerslam from Punk for a two count. Morrison gets dumped to the floor by Punk and that will send us to the commercial break. We come back to Morrison locked in a bodyscissor by Punk who has gained control of the match. Morrison elbows out of the scissor, but an attempted elbow drop meets the knees of Punk. Punk delivers a flapjack to Morrison, and follows up with a baseball slide that sends Morrison to the floor. Morrison fights back to the apron, but gets caught by Punk in a suplex attempt. Morrison flips out of it and rolls up Punk for two, but Punk is right back with a kick to the ribs to regain control. Punk locks in an abdominal stretch, but Morrison is able to armdrag out of that. Punk charges at Morrison who dodges it and Punk shoulders the ringpost. Morrison delivers a series of punches, and a clothesline. Dropkick by Morrison gets a two count, and a spin kick to back of the neck gets another two. Punk reverses a suplex into a reverse suplex of his own for a two count. Punk delivers a running knee in the corner, and goes for the bulldog but Morrison counters throwing Punk away. Morrison hits a running knee for two, and then slams Punk in the corner to set up Starship Pain. Punk gets up in time to stop that and meets Morrison on the top. Punk goes for a suplex, but Morrison elbows him off and looks for Starship Pain again. Miz runs in and stomps Punk drawing the DQ at 14:46. The look on Punk's face as they announce him the winner was absolute gold here. Afterward as Miz stares down Morrison from the ramp Morrison gives a flying chuck to Punk for good measure. Great match, a little bit of a screwy ending but it made sense in the context of the storyline. Winner: CM Punk (Disqualification-Mizerference ***)
Jim Ross wasn't there because of his night off afforded to him so he could celebrate his wedding anniversary.

Didn't Vladimir Kozlov once defeat The Undertaker one on one without outside help?

You do realize that J.R. can get a night off, every once in awhile...

Punk vs Morrison was great

Punk and Masters on the same show? Geez, it's like they want us not to watch.

Actually, I like Ask the divas. It's entertaining.
I'm still looking forward to DX's debut on Superstars. Or Batista's. I wonder if Cena, Orton, Punk, Hardy and Jericho couldn't pop the rating up from 1.0, will DX or Batista do that.

Am I the only one who ALWAYS forgets that this show exists? Do I even get this channel?

M. Henry v.s. Undertaker at wrestlemania?
Ends the streak, and gets the title he deserves, for being the most entertaining guy on the roster. Make it happen vince, and i will actually pay for wrestlemania this year.

Do you think JR and his wife celebrated their anniversary by JR watching his wife commit bestiality with their dogs? He seems like the type to get of on that. Plus, speaking as a guy who had had a lot of smoking hot girlfriends, I can tell you that most woman, while most won't admit it, love taking doggy dick in their holes.

Despite Rob's knock on Miz's outfit, I thought it was awesome. That Ed Hardy sweater/pulli looked good. I'd buy one to wear.

Dude, did you see the abortion that was Taker vs Henry at Mania 22. Seriously. That sheet was worse than Taker/Gonzales.

haha thats hilarous I was thinking the same thing.
Maybe Miz read the Mr. Rogers sweater comment and bought some cool and exclusive Ed Hardy stuff

Apparently Miz's Ed Hardy gear is ultra-exclusive as I couldn't find it on the donedhardy.com web site. :-(

ok DUDE, dont exagerate too much, that match was sooooooo brutal. Even a john cena match would be considered better than taker VS gonzales , & that says something....
