411's TNA Impact Report 10.29.09
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 10.29.2009
Desmond Wolfe and Kurt Angle go at it in a street fight, while Eric Young defends the Legends title and Team 3D take on the Machine Guns! Oh, and some new signing.
Hey yo. Wlecome to the first Impact after the big Hogan signing. Before you get excited, this was taped BEFORE he signed so there's no chance of him appearing in the Impact Zone tonight.
We get a recap of the Wolfe/Angle confrontation from last week. Seems like he's opening with some mic time! Big steps for Desmond here. He introduces himself again and says that he's Wolfe to his friends, but to you wankers he's Mr Wolfe. He's not going to say he's the next big thing, he's the only thing. He was raised to be the world's greatest fighter, it's in his genes. He was destined to be a champion, which is why he's here in TNA. He doesn't need a gold medal to prove how tough he is. Angle only won it because they felt sorry for him. He knows Angle has a tough guy image, but it's a façade. He could have broken Angle's neck but he didn't, and in one night Wolfe became the greatest wrestler in TNA. Angle's music hits and he likely has something to say about that proclamation. Angle doesn't know where he came from, or who sent him, but he overstayed his welcome and will be leaving TNA tonight. The young guys like AJ and Morgan earned his respect, but Wolfe earned nothing. He messed with the wrong guy. He has his head up his ass, it would seem. Nobody comes in his back yard and pisses in it. He challenges Wolfe to a street fight later tonight!
Lauren is with AJ and they are watching footage of the attack from last week. AJ says he doesn't know who it was because it was dark. He starts to call the punk out, when Joe comes in and says he should tell him himself. AJ accuses Joe, but Joe says he comes straight for you. Joe thinks AJ should talk to Daniels. Boy, Joe's voice sounds rough. AJ is not happy with Joe's suggestion.
Back from break and Kong is on a rampage for no apparent reason. Taz and Tenay say it's because she has no handler.
Hype for the Hogan signing.
Alyssa Flash vs Tara
Flash pulls Tara's hair to take her down. Flash gets some shots to the midsection, whips Tara to the corner and charges, but Tara avoids it and locks in the Tarantula in the ropes! Slingshot legdrop from the apron! 1...2...no. Taz and Tenay talk again about Hogan, and it's badly superimposed over the match. Interestingly they keep calling it a partnership and not a signing. Tara charges into Flash's boot, Flash whips Tara and hits a clothesline. 2 count. She chokes Tara in the ropes then gets a scoop slam. Elbow drop gets 2 for Flash. Flash misses a charge in the corner but comes back with some kicks and goes to the top. Tara goes up with her and connects with the superplex! Fireman's carry by Tara gets 2. Clotheslines by Tara and a snap suplex get 2 more. Short-arm clothesline, Flash ducks and gets a pumphandle bomb for 2! Nice counter. CURB STOMP! Flash pulls Tara up, and out of nowhere she connects with the Spider's Web! 1...2...3! That was sloppy.
Winner: Tara via pinfall (Spider's Web)
KONG! She comes down to the ring and boots Tara in the chest, then hits the Implant Buster on Tara on top of Flash! Ladies and gentlemen, as per my contractual obligations, allow me to point out that Kong kills bitches dead.
Team 3D are in the back when Rhino asks them if they're calm. He's here because he thinks 3D are getting it. Rhino says he has Morgan tonight, which he takes as proof of a conspiracy. Ray thinks he's nuts. They saved Hernandez from himself, not Rhino from Hernandez. Rhino thinks they stopped him from the Border Toss last week because they know he's right. 3D are not worried about the Guns tonight, but Rhino tells them to watch their backs because "they're all in on it". Mmmm kay...
Motor City Machine Guns vs Team 3D
Shelley and Devon to start. They exchange holds and Devon gets a shoulder block but Shelley goes to the knee of Devon (hurt at BFG, according to Tenay) and hits a spin kick for a quick 2., Devon misses a charge but gets a nice powerslam for 2. Tag to Ray, Shelley quickly bails and tags in Sabin. Ray grabs an armbar but Sabin flips out and hits some kicks. Ray catches one and sweeps the other leg, he catapults Sabin but Sabin lands safely on the apron and springboards in with a HIGH crossbody for 2. Sabin comes off the ropes with a clothesline, Ray blocks and KILLS him with a uranage right on his neck. Tag to Devonwho takes Sabin up for a press slam but Shelley chop-blocks the bad knee. Sabin gets the tag and Shelley goes to work on the knee. Devon kicks him off and tags Ray who hits a pair of clotheslines and a side slam for 2. Sabin is still down on the apron, he really got shaken by that uranage. Ray ducks a clothesline and tries a back suplex, Shelley gets out the back and hits a superkick for 2. Ray regains control and tags in Devon who goes for the Saving Grace, Shelley gets out the back and locks in the single-leg crab! Devon screams and slaps the mat once...and the ref calls for the bell?
Winners: Motor City Machine Guns via submission (single-leg crab)
Lauren is with Steiner and asks him about his focus on Bobby Lashley. Apparently Lashley demanded an apology. Steiner apologises that Kristal has no idea what it's like to be with a real man. Oh dear. She wants, she needs to be his number 1 freak, and he's going to make it happen. Tonight he is going to be watching Bobby's match.
We get a clip of Hermie's Hot Seat with Don West and Amazing Red, where they discuss their partnership. Looks like TNA want to turn Red into Rey.
TNA Legends Championship: Eirc Young (C) vs Bobby Lashley
Kristal is in the front row. Eric Young tries to get a quick start but gets nailed with a HUGE backdrop and a stiff T-Bone suplex. Lashley measure EY for the Spear but the champ bails to the floor. Lashley chases him and beats him down on the outside but STEINER levels him! Steiner has Kristal on his shirt! Shades of Rick Rude. Lashley takes Steiner down but is blindsided by Young. As soon as they get back in the ring Lashley hits a pair of body shots, a shoulder gutbuster and applies the Dragon sleeper! Steiner is in! CHAIR SHOT! The ref calls for the bell as Steiner applies the Recliner.
Winner: Bobby Lashley via DQ (Steiner-ference)
The full World Elite are in the ring in all-white jumpsuits, and Taz says they're either selling ice cream or just got back from the moon. Magnus has the mic and confirms that they have been suspended until Turning Point for hitting the ref at BFG. And to announce that they don't care. Eric Young claims he just handed Lashley his first defeat. Then he makes his big announcement: he is killing the Legends title (wonder how he got that power) and rechristening it the Global championship. He says he will never defend it on American soil or against an American wrestler. That brings out Kevin Nash, who says they had a bargain but that Young didn't keep to it. He wants to know if this is the way Young does business. Young says he learned from Nash, the master. They both knew one of them was getting screwed, Young just made sure it wasn't him. He calls Nash down to the ring to have the discussion, but Beer Money are here to beat the crap out of them before that can happen!
Daniels talks to AJ backstage and says it wasn't him. AJ seems unsure which makes Daniels mad.
The Beautiful People vs ODB, Hamada and Christy Hemme
DAT AZZ CUBED! I love you cameraman. We go to break as the good gals come to the ring, then come back to see Sky choking Hemme with a boot. Sky drops her head and eats a facebustrer and a weak-looking axe kick and Hemme tags Hamada. Sky flees and tags Rayne who immediately gets kicked and hit with an enziguiri for 2. Scoop slam and Hamada goes up for a moonsault but Sky pushes her off the ropes. 2 count for Rayne. Tag to Sky and they get a double Russian leg sweep. Snap mare and a basement dropkick gets 2. Tag to Lacey who does nothing before tagging back out to Rayne. Rayne tries 3 covers and gets 1 each time. Tag to Sky now, they try a double clothesline but Hamada ducks it and hits a double dropkick. Tag to ODB and she hits a pair of clothesline and a fallaway slam on Sky followed by a whip and the boobalanche on Rayne. Bronco Buster! Tenay wants to know if it's the Bronco Muncher or the Carpet Buster. Scoop slam to Sky and she tags Hemme, who goes up for the FFG! MISSES! Tag to Lacey, goozle! World's Worst Chokeslam! 1...2...3!
Winners: The Beautiful People via pinfall (Lacey on Hemme, chokeslam)
KONG! She looks intent on killing a bitch dead but Tara attacks her from behind and we have a brawl! Security try to break them up as we go to break!
Back from break and they are still at it. We get a video recap of Abyss vs Foley from BFG.
Dr Stevie vs Abyss
Stevie has a mic. He asks if Abyss wants to be a monster and destroy Daffney. Well come and see face to face the monster he created in Stevie. Abyss be all like..."Meh. OK" and comes out to kick some ass. Stevie charges him on the ramp and...well, it doesn't work. He beats on Steive all the way to the ring and shrugs off a series of shots from Stevie and just WAFFLES him with an open-handed chop. Steive rolls to the floor so Abyss follows him and hurts him some more. Abyss throws Stevie in the ring and follows that up by throwing in some cans o' plundah. One of the cans lands flush on Stevie's face. Stevie retrieves a chair and throws it right into Abyss's face as Abyss charges. Shots with a hockey stick by the Doctor, then Stevie goes to the knee. Abyss kicks him off but Stevie comes right back at him by standing on his head in the corner. Stevie sets for a tornado DDT...he gets pushed off! SHOCK TREATMENT! 1...2...3!
Winner: Abyss via pinfall (Shock Treatment)
Post-match, Stevie jumps Abyss and canes him, then chokes him with a kendo stick. Foley's music hits and he comes out giving Stevie the thumbs up, which of course means he's about to nail Stevie. Yup, there it is. Abyss is confused as Foley leaves.
Back from break and JB is looking for Foley. JB asks why Foley did that, and Foley has no comment. It's between him and Abyss. Then he channels Baron von Rascke (as Tenay steals my line, bastard) and walks off.
Rhino vs Matt Morgan
Rhino gets some early shots but goes down to a shoulder block. Morgan jumps on his back as Rhino's neck is over the top, but Rhino knocks Morgan off the apron to the rail. Rhino follows him out and attacks on the floor, then rolls him back in and continues the beating. Rhino stomps and punches away at Morgan in the corner. Rhino charges into a back elbow by Morgan, hits a splash in the corner and then connects with the side slam drop. Chokeslam attempt by Morgan is blocked, Rhino locks him up and hits the belly to belly. CARBON FOOTPRINT! Raven waited too long and paid for it.
Winner: Matt Morgan via pinfall (Carbon Footprint)
Rhino attacks after the bell! He hits another belly to belly and connects with the Gore! He sets for another one, but Hernandez is out for the save!
Daniels approaches Joe and tells him to stop playing games. Daniels says Joe knows that he wouldn't do that, and Joe says no he doesn't. Joe stirs the pot some more as we go to break.
Don West runs down the house shows when Homicide interrupts him to get himself a title shot...then steals his money.
JB is with Kurt Angle. Angle is pissed because Wolfe took shortcuts, and he is going to send him back where he came from. JB thinks that Angle should be worried, maybe Wolfe is working for someone that wants Angle gone. Kurt calls him paranoid.
Lauren is backstage where AJ is being tended to by paramedics. Lauren tries, and fails, to sound worried.
As we come back from break there's an ambulance leaving as Lauren tells us that AJ is being kept in hospital for observation.
Street Fight – Kurt Angle vs Desmonde Wolfe
For those who will care, Wolfe gets in the ring like a normal person and not like he did in RoH.
Angle jumps Wolfe at the bell and takes him to the turnbuckle. A European and a series of stomps in a corner. Wolfe blocks a German and hits a series of forearms and a back elbow. Wolfe takes Angle to the turnbuckle but Angle fights back with rights and a clothesline sending Wolfe to the floor! Angle follows and takes Wolfe to the steel steps, then continues the beating. Angle rolls Wolfe back in but he bounces himself off the bottom rope and connects with a back elbow. Back in the ring, Wolfe hits a stiff forearm and a European. Wolfe slaps Kurt and trash talks him, which revieves Angle! Wolfe quickly ends the comeback with an arm ringer and a tank on the arm. Jawbreaker lariat misses! GERMAN! GERMAN! GERMAN release! Tenay tells us that Sabin is OK. Angle turns around right into a SICK lariat from Wolfe! Where are the weapons? This is a street fight! The ref checks on Angle and says the match is over becasue Kurt can't move. Wolfe ignores him and rolls Angle onto his back, then trash talks him some. He says he will end Angle's career as we go to break!
Winner: Desmond Wolfe via referee stoppage (Lariat)
Back from break and they are taking Angle out on a stretcher. They show replays of the lariat, and in that one clip they have established Wolfe's lariat as a move to be feared.
We move to the Hogan press release. It's basically nothing but a Hogan blowjob. He confirms that TNA approached him, and that he will be back in the ring. And we end with Hogan doing his trademark "Whatcha gonna do?"
Chris Sabin did it to himself, trying to be a spotmonkey and oversell the move, in my opnion.

Flash, the future legend gets no entrance, nice TNA.
LOOK! Don West has a grandson! Oh wait, that is Amazing Red.
Eric Young is a walking Wellness failure, if you look back on it.
I could have sworn Steiner called him Lasley when talking backstage.
Posted By: WOW (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:15 PM
So is World Elite the new Spirit Squad, because they have about the same amount of credibility
And on that point, must TNA copy WWE again, Global title sure seems a lot like the Intercontinental Title?
Hogan being on, I predict a new TNA record with a 1.5 rating!!!!!!!
Posted By: Ashley (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:17 PM
the boyfriends are fighting....
Mr. AJ (never be a real star) and Christtopher (remember me) Daniels have zero chemistry backstage
Plus, does Sloppy Joe just walk around all show carrying a towel?
Posted By: awww (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:18 PM
Tazz sounds like he is making fun of TNA the way he does his commentary sometimes. Case is point, the Knockouts match was a joke, with his calling and Lacey still looking terrible will not last much longer in TNA....she can't.
Posted By: marky mark (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:19 PM
Watching the Hogan press conference made me feel sad for the TNA fans, cheering Hulk not realizing the worst is ahead
Posted By: Bill (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:19 PM
Did Foley just turn again?
Angle Wolfe was cool, but will Kurt be back to fight him at the next PPV?
On that note, did we need a NO DQ match and a street fight for the saem iMPACT? No wonder the last PPV got 10,000 PPV buys.

Another good Impact.

TNA will break the 1.3 barrier for their ratings, thanks to Hogan.
Plus, with Rhino vs. Morgan:
Hard to believe that one is still employed and the other one still uses the Gore as his finisher.
Posted By: RECORD (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:22 PM
1.4
Posted By: JustABouT (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:22 PM
If this rating is not higher than a 1.1, I don't know what to say.....
Posted By: That's it (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:23 PM
Good show, not great. They started to go a little overboard with the Hogan thing, but kept it out of the matches for the most part, toher than the knock outs match.
Will be interesting to see the numbers as some people I am sure were thinking they would edit in a taped interview with Hogan.
But I am hoping they keep the right direction. They have the conspiracy theory set up with the phantom tap out, they also inadvertantly had the "someone might want Angle out of TNA" thing out in the air. So that would be a prefct fit in for Hogan. Not as a wrestler but as a promoter or something. Please don't let Hogan wrestle. Other than maybe in an in ring altercation where he needs to defend himself or soemthing.
Storylines have been semi smooth and things have been moving forward pretty well. We don't need Hogan entering as a wrestler and screwing it up. Let him step into the storyline, maybe do a little magic and call it a day.
Just leech his name, let Bischoff be the magician and see where it goes. Bicshoff was the get in that deal anyway. I am sure he was the main target but Hogan being desperate they siezed the oppurtunity when Bischoff probably asked if he could bring Hogan along. But you can already see Hoagn couldn't care less, he is on his book tour and not even into any ring persona or anything. So it isn't a good start. But to be fair the book tour was in place already so he can't ebe expected to perform on a whim I guess.
At least the BP were out, and they not only tagged Lacey in (was worried for a minute) but they also let her get the win. I just hope they don't get pushes aside with the changes.
Angle Wolfe not good. Angle who looked unstoppable for months has now been beat down two weeks in a row. And tonight by a simple lariat. Hell bring JBL into TNA he can do that move too. Obcviously don't want to sell anything before the PPV, but why have a 'match' at all? Just let them snipe and ambush each other build up some heat and then unleash them? Unless Nigel is getting tested to see if he is going ot break maybe. Not sure, but I never got giving people stuff for free that they are going to beg to pay for if you don't pay them off a couple times before they will want to pay for it.
Also can't comment without saying tenay one upped taz and taz's "heavy cream on her abdomen" blast. But the "is that a bronco dive or a muff buster?" was classic. Although to be fair he probably had time to think since that commentary was obviously voiced over well after it happened. So taz still gets points for being on the ball.
And of course letting Kong kill bitches dead is always a plus. even if tara tried to get in on the action. But how hard would it be to let Couture and Kong pal up and a natural push into Tara Couture?

Some are being really optimistic with the ratings considering game 2 of the World Series was on tonight.

A mixed bag tonight. I'm not going to predict a big rating spike. 1.3 at most...but who really knows. Here's what I thought:
The Good:
-Wolfe and Angle's promos at the start of the show were fantastic.
-Joe also sounded a lot more bad ass than usual.
-Kong is awesome.
-Some decent in-ring action.
-Continued to focus on young talent.
The Bad:
-Lame finishes. A DQ, a ref. stoppage, and a screwjob submission. Also the worst choke slam of all time.
-The end of the show came off rather poorly. An awkward cut in the Angle/Wolfe match and then an underwhelming press conference video.
-AJ continues to look weak as champion. And the build to the World Title match has taken a backseat for the past two weeks. Joe and Daniels also need to be built up some more before the match.
Posted By: TheWho (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:49 PM
Ya see, I really hate that people are going to put sooo much stock into what the next rating will be, whether it's lower, higher, or the same. It just doesn't make any sense.....the logical thing to do is to wait and see what the rating does over a period of time, not just one week. Now contrary to what anyone says, this was very good episode of impact overall. In past times, I could watch impact and find so many things to be frustrated about. Now I'm not saying that they have their stuff completely together now because they surely don't, but they've cut the crap to a minimum and when they do that, impact is THE or near THE best wrestling product on television.
Posted By: cj (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 12:03 AM
At least Lacey pinned the least notable face, Christy, so it makes no difference.
Still, TBP are nothing without Angelina Love. Just sort out the visa issues and come back. The whole feeling of that stable is gone without her.

"And on that point, must TNA copy WWE again, Global title sure seems a lot like the Intercontinental Title?"
This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read.
You know that the WWE "World" title sounds a lot like the NWA "World" title. I can't believe they ripped NWA off like that!!! McMahon should change it!!!

Whats with that choke slam, that was sick and not in a good way. Is the Motor City guys going to be OK?

How many 5 min matches can we cram into a show this week.
MCMG are the most OVERRATED wrestlers today. Still hope Sabin is ok, but come on Wrestle, lets not spotfest everything.
Dr.Stevie vs Abyss.both sux, awful
Rhino vs Matt Morgan. I like Morgan but Rhino is SO done without weapons.
Global Championship...Eric Young is not a champion, sorry he's not that good.
Love the Beautiful People, but Knockouts are all overrated. Kong and Tara that's all they really have. LOVE TARA!!!
Wolfe vs Angle...finally they out over a decent wrestler, but he'll be crushed by Angle in the end and then pinned by HOGAN!
Posted By: TNABLOWS (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 02:02 AM
Spoiler Alert...Next week, Rhino gives a promo that ends with "Gore! Gore! Gore!"

Not much to say about this one. It wasn't a good or bad show. I like Cunning manipulative Joe over Angry shouting Joe. He is much better the way he was booked tonight. The Steiner-Lashley feud is like the Rude-Roberts feud from 20 years ago except nobody gives a crap about Lashley and Steiner isn't a despised heel. That was a sick urange on Sabin the match should have been stopped and you can understand why Nash flipped because it wasn't. Don't like how they're making it out to be someone sent Wolf after Angle. Not the best opening promo by Wolf to start the show. Did like to see him getting the better of Angle again but they shouldn't have wrestled till the ppv. Congrats to Christe Hemme for the first time she wasn't the most inept worker in a match. I liked how Kong was booked tonight.
Posted By: graves9 (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 02:37 AM
I didn't watch it tonight. After last week, I was EXCITED to watch tonight's Impact.
Now, knowing that everything will change soon (for better or worse, I just don't know), I figured "why bother"? What's the point of watching something that has absolutely no long-term impact?
Posted By: Jimbob Jones (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 03:18 AM
I pretty much have to fast forward past anytime when Lacey in on the screen. She is awful at everything.
It was a nice effort bringing her in, TNA, but it's time to pull the plug on that one.
Posted By: d-money (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 07:51 AM
the worst chokeslam was the one taker gave hogan to win the title in 2002 or 03.
and yeah, the beautiful people are nothing without Angelina Love. still can't believe the Velvey Sky fans screaming about how Sky was the better half of that now-classic team...

Two weeks in a row of fantastic TV for TNA! I think we're in another dimension.
KONG is back to vicious.
World Elite are the #1 heel faction.
Machine Guns showcased.
Desmond Wolfe getting established as a major player in only two weeks.
Amazing. I loved it!

I agree for the most part that they need to do more to hype up the World Title match if they want more people to care about AJ as World Champion.
They should've held off Wolfe-Angle until the PPV.
Personally I do think it was WAY too soon to pull the trigger on the Hogan move especially after the great build to BFG the past two months.
Hopefully Bischoff will help TNA get another one hour program so they don't have to cram everything in two hours.

AJ's title reign is the worst since Joe's last year or Rey's a few years ago, for a babyface there making him look like such a bitch.

Well since Booker supposedly invented and named the Legends belt and he is gone it only makes sense that it would get renamed, because people are going to associate it with him. Over time if it is a global belt then they will probably forget it origin and just figure it is any other belt. Plus it fits in witht he whole world elite theme, and shows some pretty decent foresight on the creative side. Since they took it off an MeM guy and gave it to the leader of the world elite so a perfect storyline and back story to move forward.
s far as the ratings, the world seires game was pretty good so once peopel figured out Hogan wasnt going to be there it probably wasnt that great. Doesn't matter anyway, the real test is going to be how they do when the hype idies down and what they can expect as a consistant number. Which even though next week will be the first time he appears, it will be 2 weeks removed since it was announced. So a better gauge.

THAT'S Nigel? That's the guy you people have been creaming yourselves about?
He's like Batista, but without the muscles. No thanks.

Seemed like a pretty good show to me. The 3 way dynamic for main event isn't working though and instead of doing the clichéd mistrust angle (while making AJ look like a pussy), can't we just get some solid egotistical inring promo's from all 3 claiming it was them who made the X division and the triple threat from last time. Even if they don't produce to the level of last time at least hype it endlessly that they are going to outdo TNA's greatest match ever.
Angle/Wolfe has sooooo much potential, I'm totally digging Nigel and given enough time they could have an amazing match.
Far from a perfect show but definitely an acceptable one.

I love how each side of the TNA/WWE fence call the other side "fanboys" as an insult. Aren't we all fanboys, or did I miss something? A fanboy is someone who enjoys a particular product, correct? This blind hatred of the "other" fed is ricidulous now. It's like Democrats and Republicans. No matter what the other side says or does, it's evil just because it's not coming from "your" party. In reality, there are good and bad things about both, and people just need to accept it.

I don't see how, the guy went to a draw with possibly the best wrestler in the world (which could lead to a box office feud come Genesis which is on the road), he beat Sting CLEAN on their biggest ppv of the year. So his team loses when his partner eats a pin and he gets attacked backstage two weeks in a row...its called a damn storyline. It hasn't even played out yet and people are calling AJ a weak champion??? Get a fuckin grip
Posted By: bighustle (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 01:24 PM
"Angle Wolfe not good.
Posted By: Rich (Guest) on October 29, 2009 at 11:36 PM"
---------
During last week's beatdown Nigel/Des told Angle that he knew his secret/knew about his neck and would cripple him unless he got out of his way. Last week he used the Tower Of London to crack his neck, this week the lariet also targeting Kurt's neck. They're giving Angle a weakness to even the odds at the ppv most likely so if Nigel goes over it'll warrant a rematch and feud.

After fishing through the always negative trolls....
Impact wasn't as good as last week (still decent) and it probably won't do well in the ratings thanks to the World Series game. Hell, i know i didn't watch Impact till this morning. So when the ratings come back anything under a 1.2, i don't wanna see all you WWE marks piss yourselves with glee over it, cuz any "smart" fan would know better.
I liked the backstage skits between AJ, Joe, and Daniels. AJ playing the face in peril, Joe being the instigator, and Daniels being the X factor. Makes for great intrigue. They played up everything perfectly; from Daniels maybe being jealous of AJ's success, to AJ looking down on Daniels, to Joe only stirring the pot to make things easier for himself heading into the match. And the kicker is, we really don't know who is attacking AJ. We know its a bald guy, but with all the bald guys in TNA, we just don't really know...intrigue
The Angle/Nigel match was kinda underwhelming, but i guess they gotta save the good stuff for the ppv. Couldn't help but notice the editing on that. I know the setup for the Jawbreaker Lariat involves Nigel falling through the middle ropes and springing back in, but why couldn't they have Kurt bump him into the sequence? It just looks awkward when Nigel does it himself. The whole surprise aspect of that move coulda really helped that last spot. Had Angle thought he had knocked Nigel out of the ring, it would've been that much more surprising for him to get taken down by the lariat and the sell would've gone over better.
Everything else with Impact was okay...Lacey Von Erich is smokin hot in a downsouth big teeth savy/country girl kinda way (brief fantasy), but she needs some more in ring training. She looks awkward when she's not posing and looking beautiful.
Perhaps Sabin did jump too high into the move, but I wouldn't fault him on that. The MCMG's MO is to make themselves and their opponents look good. As fans who appreciate the give and take, its the same thing that made Ric Flair great. Guys do it all the time; unfortunately, Sabin got hurt. We shouldn't be making light and calling the guy a "spot monkey".
Posted By: bighustle (Guest) on October 30, 2009 at 01:42 PM
I agree with everything bighustle said. I knew that a lot of strictly WWE guys and TNA bashers would be watching this episode or DVRing it to come in here to find a reason to say anything bad about TNA. The same guy are waiting for the ratings to come out and hope for a .9 or a 1.0 just so that can say TNA is for losers and what not.
I remember when I used to be on AOL chats back in like 96 97 when everybody said that WWF was going out of business and how WCW had their number. I wonder were are all of those fans these days.
I compare some of you to those fans...people who are so stupid that they make "predictions" based on popular opinion rather than the constant variable of "you never know what the fuck is going to happen"....... in other words, just watch the show and let what ever happens unfold and then take it from there....

I know. And reports have said that Angelina is still residing in America so this visa thing clearly wasn't a big thing. She wasn't booted out of the country or anything.
Once again, COME BACK ANGELINA LOVE!! TBP are still look hot, but as a unit that spark they had has just gone, because the star of the group isn't there.

Somebody finally agrees! I swear these guys are horrible, there moves are so choreographed, I know wrestling matches are scripted, but it's never so apparent as when Sabin & Shelley are blatantly setting up their spots, it looks so bad, most of the x division is the same, Christopher Daniels is one of the few who can work an actual wrestling match rather than a spot fest.

"So, TNA has a World championship and a Global championship? Aren't world and global the same thing? Now TNA has to world titles?"
Ummm, what do you think "Intercontinental" means? It means "across continents". Since they don't specifically NAME the continents, they obviously mean all of them... which would mean that -- say it with me -- It's a WORLD title.
Wow, WWE marks are marktarded.

It still means that she can't WORK in the country if she only has a temporary visa.
So, yeah, it's still a big deal, but thanks for playing.

From a wrestling standpoint, the show was pretty good. I see nothing wrong with the Global Title idea.

at least Nigel kept the killer lariat. Also renaming the legends title the 'global championship' is a great way to actually transition the title away from a vanity title into something that has more appeal.

The X-Division itself is overrated. As you said only Daniels and maybe a few others can actually work.
They aren't doing anything groundbreaking. In WWE's last attempt at a cruiserweight division it was the same spotfests, though there were some good matches at least.
And the X-division hasn't drawn flies for TNA. Their segments are often the lowest rated each week.

If people would actually watch the show instead of reading the reviews and making snide comments than half of these comments wouldn't exist. Eric Young made it very clear - It's a Global Title that will only be defended Outside of the US and against non-US wrestlers - That's the difference to their World Title (it's a dig at the company for being so Pro-US that their World Title isn't what it says it is).
Posted By: kliq316 (Guest) on October 31, 2009 at 07:14 AM
this was a truly awful show. wolfe/angle opening promo started off ok but as soon as angle started getting tough, the looks on wolfes face and his mannerisms just made me laugh and killed everything...
the international spirit squad on steroids is a joke...eric young sounds like a robot auditioning for vince russo...
what's with this stupid love triangle?..'hey aj..its was your best freind.." "no it wasnt. we're friends to the end" "whatever bro..your like blind" "hey daniels, aj thinks he's coolers than you" "no he doesn't. we're friends to the end" "whatever broski. open your eyes" CUT! "we're outside the arena and for the SECOND week in a row aj is attacked". whoever his a"attacker" is it's not gonna be a very big surprise. unless it was that broad he "made" on MTV.
what else? oh yeah. the hulkster...it's funny, the wwe brings him in and it's cool cuz it's not expected...it's a some random night, there's some beatdown going on, his music hits, crowd pops, he comes out, hulks up, legdrops, grabs the mikes, drops some "brothers" and we go to the next segment or end the show. he comes to TNA and it's this grab ass affair...how long before the hulkster starts banging dixie carter? or is he already? that is the question...

I wasnt particularly enjoying this week's show. Other than the Hogan signing not much happened. Lots of weird finishes to matches. TNA stole the WWE tap out finish from the Punk vs Taker at Breaking Point for the MCMG vs 3 D match. I still dont get how Daniels and Samoa Joe get a title shot while both lost their matches at BFG. I didnt understand the no contest in the Legends Title match. Steiner hit Lashley with a chair so I would think that would be a DQ. I hope Sabin is alright. It looked pretty bad how he landed on his neck. Rhino has been impressing me lately. Not withe his ring work or anything. I just think he's buyable as a heel now. Stevie and Abyss wasnt impressive. I was hoping theyd use the weapons more but I guess not on free TV. Beautiful People were bob as usual. I can see why they have used Lacey sparingly as she seems pretty sloppy in the ring. I thought Tara vs Alissa Flash could have been better. My thought on Desmonde Wolf is I think they are pushing him too fast. I reallyw asnt impressed by this show. Thought it could have been better.

You know what I find funny and hypocritical, TNA marks bitching about WWE marks trolling TNA pages with smart remarks and bitching about TNA and then those same TNA marks turn around and do the exact same damn thing in the WWE pages.
This is why I hate Company Fanboys on all sides. This is one of the reasons I hate the IWC in general. This is why I told the IWC to fuck off and just started watching the shows AS A FAN instead of as an internet critic. It is much more tolerable and a little more enjoyable that way. You're never going to enjoy the shows as an internet critic because you are all so damn busy finding anything on the shows to whine and cry about like crybaby bitches.
So to the IWC, keep crying me a river as I keep enjoying wrestling.

This week's episode was decent. TNA lost some steam with the endings of some matches. Angle and Wolfe cut a good promo. Styles, Joe, and Daniels cut good promos. The Hogan announcement was huge. It could drive TNA's ratings to new heights. Hogan, however, is not known for respecting cruiserweights. What does this mean for the X division? The Tara vs Flash match was good even though the ending was sloppy. Melissa Anderson is proving herself in TNA. Thank you camera man for some of those shots of Tara. Kong's post match was great. The MCMGs vs Team 3D match was ruined by the screwjob ending. This was no doubt a work to build the Rhino storyline. The E.Y. vs Lashley match was pure storybuilder. The World Elite announcement about the Legends title was stupid. The Beautiful People vs Hemme, Hamada, and ODB match was decent. Lacey really botched the chokeslam this time. The Kong and Tara action after the match was great. The Dr. Stevie vs Abyss match was good. The Rhino vs Morgan match was bad. The Angle vs Wolfe match was decent. I didn't mind Wolfe beating Angle twice in sneak attacks last week, but not in a one on one match the week after. TNA is making Angle and Styles look weak. The Tara vs Flash was better than most of the men's matches.
