411's ECW on SyFy Report 11.03.09
Posted by Michael Bauer on 11.03.2009

Welcome to the ECW on SyFy! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper. And I'm back after bashing my hand into the edge of a counter at physical therapy. No, I'm not joking.

We open with clips from last week's ECW Title match between Christian and Yoshi Tatsu and the beat down afterwards by Regal and company.

And as Todd and Byron welcome us to ECW, Christian makes his way down to the ring and is focused. No gestures to the crowd or anything. He gets the microphone and proceeds to demand a match with William Regal and he wants it right now. Christian is about to go backstage after him, but Tiffany comes out to try and talk reasoning. She blames herself for Regal's attack last week and Christian says all Regal has ever done is disrespect her, the fans, and him. Christian begs for this match and doesn't care about him earning his shot. This brings out Regal and his henchmen and Regal now tries to play the advantage card. Christian is willing to put the title on the line, as he first won the title in this very building. Tiffany says they are both already booked, but Tiffany asks Regal if he accepts. And he doesn't??? Regal says he is control and that he will accept a match on his terms, which means it will be next week in England. Christian accepts, but Tiffany bans Kozlov and Jackson from ringside in that match. Now Regal is in action and he comes down to the ring, but Christian catches him with a baseball slide dropkick as he tries to enter and we go to commercial.

William Regal vs. Goldust

Back from the break and Regal is still holding his head. The bell rings and they lockup, but Regal backs Goldust into the rings and they trade blows before Regal get sent to the mat. Regal rolls outside and Goldust follows, drilling him. Back inside, Goldust hits a series of right hands and this continues on the floor. Regal bounces off the ring apron and rolled back in. Goldust hits the atomic drop and then starts punching away in the corner until he is shoved off. Regal now with forearms in the corner and a huge smash for a two count. Regal with a few crossfaces and locks in a headlock, grinding away at the face. Goldust to his feet and he escapes with punches into the gut and then gets the low uppercut. Goldust hits a series of clotheslines, but walks into a boot in the corner. Goldust then hits a powerslam for two, but he misses a charge in the corner. Regal backs up and hits the knee trembler for the three count at 4:00.

Winner: William Regal

Match Rating: *1/2 Not really that good of a match, but it got Regal his win.

Backstage, Rosa Mendes walks up to Zack Ryder admiring himself in the mirror. Zack goes into a fantasy world about Rosa's hotness and proceeds to explode his lotion bottle when she asks how Zack likes her dress. Okay, and Zack wasn't already a goof.

Back fro the break and Rosa starts blabbing about practicing for tonight and one of the crew members has to tell her to just get on with it.

Zack Ryder vs. Shelton Benjamin

Ryder still looks in awe of Rosa. The bell rings and they lockup, with Shelton getting a go behind into a headlock. Ryder bounces Shelton off the ropes and gets taken down with a shoulder block. Ryder ducks to the outside and starts talking to Rosa, but he gets inside fast enough to catch Shelton with a dropkick. Ryder drives Shelton into the corner and follows up with a face wash for a two count. Headlock applied by Ryder, but Shelton fights back up, before being tripped back down. Shelton again gets back to his feet and gets clubbed for his trouble. Ryder talks some trash and Shelton responds with a series of haymakers and a back body drop. Ryder whipped across and Shelton hits a huge splash. Shelton walks into a kick, but Ryder walks into the overhead belly to belly suplex. Ryder rolls to the floor and gets thrown back in quickly enough to catch Shelton with a shoulder to the gut and slingshot him into the ring. Ryder then again gets distracted by Rosa and turns right into PayDirt. Shelton makes the cover and the pinfall.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

Match Rating: *3/4 The whole Rosa deal was not needed here and took away from the match.

WWE.com is trying to find Parts Unknown… why??

In the ring is Paul and Katie Lea Burchill in the ring and Paul starts talking about asking for the Hurricane and he gets cut off by the music of the Hurricane. And out comes the masked hero with his Singapore cane. Hurricane is told that Halloween is over, but for some people is lasts all year long, like Katie Lea. They both have had enough of each other and Paul calls Hurricane a fraud. Paul is jealous of the mindless freaks backing the Hurricane instead of a well spoken man. Hurricane says chicks dig the superheroes. Burchill then challenges him to one more match. If Burchill wins, the Hurricane unmasks. If Hurricane wins, than Burchill leaves ECW. Hurricane says he never backs down from a fight and he agrees to the match.

Backstage, Washington is pissed that Regal made him lose his Rent-a-Center deposit from Regal's actions. He wants Tiffany to buy a whole new set, with all the trimmings, including a sound board machine for Tony. Out from Tiffany's office walks some new guy, who happens to be Vance Archer. Tiffany calls him intense as we go to commercial.

What the hell did I do to deserve a Raw Rebound with the "Raw got Talent" segment?

Vance Archer vs. Logan Jones

Vance does look intense and the music proves it. Holy crap! That's Lance Hoyt?!? I have never seen him with short hair. Uh oh, we have the hometown kid. The bell rings and Vance just shoves him to the floor. Vance catches him coming into the ring with a kick to the gut. Vance hits a chop in the corner and drills him with a belly to belly suplex. Vance hits a reverse DDT and gets the pinfall to end the match in 50 seconds or less.

Winner: Vance Archer

Match Rating: ½* Now that is a squash match.

Backstage, Christian and Yoshi walk to the ring for their tag match.

Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson vs. ECW Champion Christian and Yoshi Tatsu

Kozlov and Jackson start in the ring, way to give away the result. The bell rings and Tatsu starts with Jackson. Jackson chucks Tatsu to the mat, but Tatsu goes to the kicks and brings Jackson down with a series of dropkicks for a one count with a huge press. Kozlov tagged in and Yoshi again goes to the kicks. He avoids a huge boot, but can't avoid the headbutt to the gut and gets backed into the corner. Jackson tagged in and he drills Yoshi with a knee to the chest. Yoshi locked in an underhook and clubbed by Jackson. Kozlov tagged in and he drills Yoshi with shoulder blocks in the corner. Kozlov with headbutts and a belly to belly suplex for a two count. Jackson tagged in and he locks with arms of Yoshi for a submission hold. Yoshi gets clubbed and sent to the corner, but he avoids the charge of Jackson and tags in Christian. Kozlov also tagged in and he runs into a boot from Christian. Christian hits the diving back elbow, but gets caught when he goes for the missile dropkick. Kozlov slams him down and lifts him back up, but Christian slips out and hits an inverted DDT. Jackson breaks up the pin and gets dumped to the floor by Christian and Tatsu. Tatsu flies to the outside and Christian gets caught with a fallaway slam. Christian avoids a charge in the corner and hits a Tornado DDT. Christian hits the KillSwitch on the first try and gets the three count at 6:00. Regal attacks after the bell and it takes Jackson's help to ground Christian, before Regal applies the Regal Stretch on the floor, with Christian pretty much out cold to end the broadcast.

Winners: Yoshi Tatsu and Christian

Match Rating: ** Decent match, about what I would expect with Kozlov and Jackson on one side and Tatsu in most of the time.

I said it in another post, but Regal wins the title next week thanks to Tiffany turning heel. Seems to make sense, based on Regal never leaving ECW, even though Tiffany said if you want out, just leave, and her telling Regal he wouldn't get another ECW title match.

I say Hurricane wins, and Burchill goes to RAW for a push..seriously.

No way Hurricane would unmask next week, but it is overseas....

how long does everyone think "Vance Archer" is gonna last before being "future endevored"?

"Ryder then again gets distracted by Rosa and turns right into the Playmaker."

That would be Paydirt. MVP uses the Playmaker. I don't even watch RAW and I know that.

Since McMahon always tries to create stars out of mid card rejects from other companies, I expect Vance Archer to be ECW Champion within six months.

The Playmaker? That's MVP's finisher. Shelton's is called Paydirt.

I couldn't help but chuckle at "Vance Archer", but hey, more power to the man and all the best of luck.

Not sure I heard it right. Goldust was announced as weighing 238 lbs? I would've guessed about 20 lbs more.

Hulkmania is running wild in TNA.

Hoytmania is going run wild in ECW.

They took all the things that made Lance Hoyt interesting (not that there were many to begin with) and made him more generic than ever. EPIC FAILURE

Let's hope at least one of the Brits wins next week. I'm guessing/hoping Regal as that would be a huge markout moment. Very few Brits win recognised World titles. Chris Adams arguably, and Nigel McGuinness. Other than that, nobody I can think of.

Regal wins. Christian moves to SD.

Posted By: Angry Bear (Guest)  on November 04, 2009 at 07:30 AM

TNA really dropped the ball with Hoyt. I'm not saying he's an amazing wrestler or anything, but there was a time when the crowds were really getting into him, and TNA did absolutely nothing with it. Good luck to him.

Now we know why Sheamus was moved to RAW so abruptly, since he and Hoyt are pretty much identical in looks and moveset. Minus the blindingly white skin, of course.

I believe you have Vince confused with TNA where they push every WWE reject to the top of their card immediately. Hoyt has a great look and some decent skill with a few good power moves. If booked correctly and if he can talk, there is no reason he can't find success in WWE.

Burchill is going to lose to Hurricane, and with a little luck, move over to Smackdown to be inserted into the IC Title picture. Please, let it happen.

lol ECW was actually decent these past few weeks..

I like the slow, simple minded storylines and not these "GM stacking the odss","handicap qualifying matches""valet cheating on her man"type storylines of the past 15 years.

I like the 80's cheese.

hopefully Burchill's move to Raw so Katie Lea can fight Melina for title, Proof that raw needs heel divas was monday when Alicia was the only one in battle royal and she had to win. fingers crossed Paul gets a push as well as I have always felt he is under-rated

All the Mickey James defenders please feel free to look at Katie Lee and see what a woman withsomemeat on her bones is really suposed to look like. No where near skin and bones, yet she doesn't have a muffin top hanging over her belt.

Vance equals Hoyt???
I like Vance's look and style better than Hoyt, TNA did miss the boat with him.

"I believe you have Vince confused with TNA where they push every WWE reject to the top of their card immediately."

I love how people say this like it's true.

What WWE midcarders are going to the top of the TNA card?

I'm not talking about when the company first formed. Since, say, 2005, what WWE midcarders went to the top of the TNA card?

Christian? That's pretty much it (and WWE fans were complaining about him being underutilized for YEARS).

Who else? Maybe Rhino? (Who was only pushed to the top thanks to Kevin Nash no-showing)

That's it. Even Booker T was a mid-carder in TNA (and he was a main-eventer in WWE). Lashley is in mid-card feuds.

I'm not saying TNA has made great booking decisions. They've made a lot of stupid ones.

But just because you idiots say the same thing over and over again doesn't make it true.

I was surprised by Vance Archer. I was a big fan of the Rock n' Rave Infection and was dissapointed when they were disbanded however, Archer looked comnpletely different here and could actually be a player in the WWE. certain Wrestlers fit certain companys and Hoyt could well be a WWE guy; I feel the same about James Storm, Beer Money inc. are a fine team but I have always felt that in the WWE Storm could be a major player.
