-Hosted by Michael Cole, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Todd Grisham, Matt Striker, Josh Mathews, & Byron Saxton

Matt Hardy vs. David Hart Smith (w. Tyson Kidd & Natalya)
Smith takes Hardy over with an armdrag into an armbar to start, and follows up with a chicken wing. Hardy reverses into a headlock, and holds on as Hart attempts to roll through. Matt hits the ropes and delivers a shoulderblock followed by a headlock takeover. Smith elbows free but misses a clothesline and walks into a right hand from Hardy. Smith comes back by whipping Hardy sternum first into the buckle, and begins to work him over with a splash in the corner. Smith delivers an elbow to the back of the head, and goes to the reverse chinlock. Smith whips Hardy into the corner, but charges into a boot from Matt. Hardy delivers a swinging neckbreaker, and goes to the second rope delivering a legdrop for a two count. Smith pulls Hardy outside the ring to buy time, but Hardy is right there to bring him out with him. After firing Smith into the ring apron Matt fires Smith back inside and heads to the top rope. A distraction from Tyson Kidd allows Smith to crotch him on the top rope and deliver a superplex as we head for a commercial break. We return with Hardy locked in a rear chinlock which Smith quickly follows with an abdominal stretch. Hardy reverses sending Smith into the corner, but Smith regains control with a straight right hand. Powerslam from Smith gets a two count which he follows up with a Northern Lights Suplex for another two. Back suplex from Smith gets another near fall, so he goes back to work driving a knee and elbow into the lower back of Hardy. Smith goes back to the chinlock, and then picks Hardy up setting him on the top rope. Smith goes up after him, but he's met with a series of back elbows from Hardy knocking him back to the mat. Hardy delivers a moonsault off the top rope for a two count, and hits neckbreaker for another two count. Matt heads to the second rope and hits an elbow, before going for the twist of fate which is countered by Smith sending Matt to the ropes. Matt is right back with a side effect for a two count, and that brings Tyson Kidd to the apron for a distraction. Hardy knocks him to the floor, but he turns around into a jumping big boot from Smith. Charles Robinson ejects Natalya and Kidd from ringside as a result, but meanwhile back inside Hardy hits a small package and when Robinson turns around that's good enough to pick up the three count at 11:57. The finish left a little bit to be desired, but I really liked this match. Smith looked really good. More of a slow paced match, but still very solid.
Winner: Matt Hardy (Pinfall-Small Package **3/4)

Zack Ryder (w. Rosa Mendes) vs. Shelton Benjamin
I could do without the silly dream sequences we've seen on ECW the past few weeks, but Rosa as Zack's resident bimbo can definitely work. (Please note…I'm not calling Rosa a bimbo, only referencing the character she's playing) Zack throws Shelton from the ring at the outset, but Shelton is right back inside with a double leg takedown. Shelton delivers a back elbow which he follows with a back suplex. Shelton tries to hop to the second rope, but Zack ducks out of the way and pulls him to the mat to take control. Reverse neckbreaker for Ryder picks up a two count, and he follows up by going to the reverse chinlock. Zack drops a knee on the back of the head of Shelton, and then chokes him out on the bottom rope before covering for a two count. Ryder goes back to the reverse chinlock, but Shelton stands up out of it. Ryder hits the ropes and delivers a flying leg lariat for two, and then locks in a crossface. Zack switches off to a chinlock again, but Shelton again stands up and backs him into the corner. Shelton hits a belly-to-belly suplex, and then springboards off the top rope with a crossbody for two. Shelton goes for a powerbomb it appears, but Ryder counters into a hurracanrana which sends both guys crashing over the top rope. Shelton is back inside first, and hits a baseball slide to Zack. Rosa goes to check on him, but Zack gets all smitten and loses track of the count getting him counted out at 5:16. The bell snaps Zack out of it, and he slides back inside to get hit with paydirt. I enjoyed the match, but the finish is stupid and I'm starting to worry about this story for Zack. It could kill his momentum which would be a shame.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin (Count Out **)

-Josh Mathews catches up with Legacy. Cody says Henry and MVP talk a big game, but it is actions that define you. He says MVP won't beat Dibiase, and they don't see them as very important people. Instead they see them as common thugs. Dibiase says MVP is an ex-con who came into some money, bought some flashy jewelry, and thinks he's ballin'. He talks about his dad, and says if anyone is ballin' it's him. He says no one on Kofi's team impresses him, and just like Orton beat Henry, tonight he will give MVP a beatdown worthy of a VIP.

Ted Dibiase (w. Cody Rhodes) vs. Montel Vontavious Porter (w. Mark Henry)
MVP grabs a side headlock at the outset, and takes Dibiase over with it. Ted stands up and backs MVP into the corner, but MVP comes back with a clothesline for a two count. MVP whips Dibiase to the corner, but charges into a boot. Dibiase then charges into a backdrop from MVP which picks up a two count. Bodyslam from MVP is followed by a kneedrop for two. MVP takes over Dibiase again with the side headlock, but Dibiase is able to get free with a knee to the midsection. Dibiase is sent for the ride, but Cody pulls him to the floor to save him from the big boot. MVP decides to pay them a visit on the floor though catapulting over the top taking both Legacy members out as we head to break. We're back from commercial with MVP hitting a small package for a two count, before burying a series of knees to the midsection of Dibiase. Snap mare from MVP picks up a two count, but a drive by attempt in the corner misses allowing Dibiase to dump him over the top to the floor. Dibiase heads outside after him, and drives the arm of MVP into the barricade and then the ringpost. Dibiase throws MVP back inside for a two count which he follows by dropping some knees on the shoulder. Dibiase delivers a boot to the side of the head for a two count, and continues to work the arm with an armbar. MVP hammers free of that, but Dibiase comes back to drop down with the injured arm across his chest picking up another two count. Dibiase wraps the arm of MVP around the ropes, and then when he gets tied up with the ref Rhodes wraps the arm around the ringpost from the outside. Dibiase covers for a two count which he follows by stomping on the shoulder of a prone MVP. MVP fights back to his feet, and hits the ropes running into a clothesline from Dibiase for a two count. Dibiase goes back to the armbar, but again MVP hammers free and this time hits a throw to buy himself some time. MVP ducks a right hand, and fires away with a series of strikes with his good arm. MVP hits a facebuster, and that is followed up by the ballin' elbow. MVP goes for the playmaker, but Dibiase counters with a kick. MVP comes back with a big boot of his own for a two count bringing Cody up to the apron. Henry takes care of that problem by running Cody into the post. Dibiase goes for a neckbreaker, but instead MVP counters and hits a small package picking up the win at 13:57. MVP did a nice job of selling the arm until he went for the playmaker when he proceeded to forget about the injury entirely until the match ended. I usually don't care as much about selling as most people, but this really stood out.
Winner: Montel Vontavious Porter (Pinfall-Small Package **1/4)

It's funny how Rosa Mendes has become a whole lot more tolerable since moving to ECW. They finally realised that she's worthless in the ring and made her valet for Woo-woo-woo.

The Small Package finish in 2 matches. And a countout. Matches looked good, but the finishes were lazy booking 101.

ECW Rosa is smokin.

I don't blame Zack for staring at those tits.

I just can't remember this show comes on Thursday and I always fall asleep on it Sunday

I think its safe to include that this week's edition of WWE Superstars was one of the better episodes we've all seen in a long time. Although none of the matches set the world on fire nevertheless tonight's matches were solid.

How did MVP forget about the injury if Dibiase injured the left arm and he uses the right for the playmaker?

Posted By: guestbajan (Guest)  on November 13, 2009 at 09:23 AM

Yeah, hated seeing two small package finishes. I don't think it'd have hurt to have a heel go over through nefarious means in either of those matches.

I didn't mind the countout on Ryder. I'm enjoying his stupid shit with Rosa, much more than stupid shit with Hornswaggle or DX.

Other than two similar finishes, though, good show.
