Shelton Benjamin vs. Zack Ryder (w. Rosa Mendes)
Well we shall see if the neutering of one of the WWE's hottest young commodities continues. Zack stalls early, but gets thrown inside by Shelton when he turns his attention to Rosa. Shelton delivers a short clothesline and snap suplex for a one count. Ryder comes back with a suplex attempt of his own, but it is countered into a neckbreaker by Benjamin. Shelton grabs a rear chinlock, and follows up with a Samoan Drop for two. Shelton goes to an armbar with a chinlock, but when pushed into the corner Zack gets a cheap shot on the break to take control. Shelton is back with a forearm, and sets up for a powerbomb only to get backdropped over the top. Shelton skins the cat, and backdrops Ryder to the floor on a charge. A baseball slide by Shelton comes up empty, and Ryder shoves him into the ringsteps as we head to break. Ryder is still in control as we come back as he buries a few knees, and locks in a submission. Knee to the gut gets two for Zack, but Shelton comes back with a crossbody off the top. Stinger splash connects by Shelton, but both guys go for a crossbody simultaneously. Over-the-top over booking takes over as Rosa tries to get Zack's cell phone trying to get him to answer a text message or something. He tries to get her out of the ring, but Shelton attempts to attack from behind. Her scream alerts Ryder to move, and Shelton hops to the second rope to avoid her. This lets Ryder pull Shelton off the ropes, and that gets the win at 9:38. Yes, that just happened. A wrestler won a match because his valet distracted the opponent by giving him his cell phone. Absurdly retarded over-booked ending aside it is nice to see Zack get a win.
Winner: Zack Ryder (Pinfall-Rosaference **1/4)

Eric Escobar (w. Vickie Guerrero) vs. Jimmy Wang Yang
Honestly I haven't seen much of Escobar to be honest. I don't get Smackdown until Saturday here, and by then I'm pretty much out of the mood. Sticking him with the human heat magnet Vickie can't hurt. Jimmy hits a couple kicks at the outset, but gets thrown into the corner by Escobar and pounded. Escobar delivers a clothesline and reverse Side Russian Legsweep for a two count. Escobar grabs a dragon sleeper, and then lets go of it to deliver a brutal clothesline. Escobar charges at Yang in the corner, but gets hit with a back elbow and second rope dropkick. Flurry of kicks connects by Yang and he follows with a spinning heel kick in the corner. Flying crossbody from Yang gets a two count, and he heads up again for a moonsault. Escobar bails to the floor, and a distraction from Vickie allows Escobar to sweep the leg and take Jimmy out on the apron. Running dropkick finishes things back inside for Escobar at 2:49. Hard to get much of an impression from a three minute squash match, but he's not all that terrible. He's no Edge though, so he'll have to rely on more than Vickie eventually.
Winner: Eric Escobar (Pinfall-Running Dropkick *1/2)

Cody Rhodes vs. Mark Henry
They usually try to hide the fact that they tape Superstars at both television sites throughout the week, but no such attempt this week. We've clearly switched to the Garden as they used a different set this week. I just realized Cody Rhodes was going to have to carry Mark Henry for 10 plus minutes, and a little bit of me died inside. Standard small heel vs. giant face start as Cody delivers a cheap right hand to no effect and then tries to crawl away. Henry tells Cody to punch him in the face, and he obliges to no effect. Henry goes for a press slam, but Cody counters with a thumb to the eyes. Cody goes to the top rope, but gets caught and pressed all the way across the ring. Henry delivers a clothesline and Cody rolls outside to the floor as we go to break. We're back and Henry is in control delivering a big boot and Cody again rolls to the floor. Henry heads out after him, but gets Cody dropkicks the ringsteps into the leg of Henry. Cody tries to pull Henry back inside, but Henry is too damn fat. Henry delivers a headbutt sending Cody across the ring, but he's right back to deliver a chop block to Henry as he gets back inside. Cody appears to injure himself, but goes on offense working the leg of Henry. Cody puts the pressure on the hamstring of Henry, but gets kicked off. Cody hits a low dropkick putting Henry back down, and comes off the second rope with a kneedrop to the back of the leg. Cody continues the legwork, and goes for a spinning toehold. Henry kicks off sending Cody all the way to the floor, and then delivers a shoulderblock and headbutt when he comes back inside. Back bodydrop connects by Henry, but Cody counters a powerslam with another shot to the knee. Cody charges into a shoulderblock, and then Henry picks him up into the World's Strongest Slam which finishes at 11:05. This could have been much, much, worse. It wasn't great, but it was better than it had any right being.
Winner: Mark Henry (Pinfall-World's Strongest Slam **)

What exactly was wrong with the ending to the Ryder/Shelton match? Zach is trying to show off in front of his hot, but very stupid/naive, girlfriend. And in Heel 101 fashion, he took advantage of Shelton's athleticism. That just adds to Zach and Rosa's heat.

I like the fact that the Zach and Rosa have a romantic feel to it. It's been a while since any pairing in the WWE has that vibe. hah

What was so wrong with it? Relax on the comments out there to make yourself look better becuase an ending wasn't a classic hour long match with a clean finish. For what it was, the ending was just fine.

"I don't get Smackdown until Saturday here, and by then I'm pretty much out of the mood by then."

You don't need that second 'by then'.

Hey McNew. Good job tonight. I normally don't go out of my way to compliment someone unless they deserve it. I read a lot of columns and reviews and only comment when I think it's relevant or I'm drunk. In this case, it's both. I never get to catch this show, and it seems to me that you're a WWE guy or TNA; but that's your choice. I enjoy both. Anyway, I may not always agree with some things you say, but I definitely enjoy reading your reviews. I usually don't watch RAW and always miss this show, but never feel left out due to your reviews. Props to you sir.

Ryder/SHelton was very good. Not upset by cell phone distraction. I mean its not like its been done before. Ryder just took advantage and Shelton didnt want to squash Rosa. Good Heat on Ryder and Rosa and Facepop for Shelton who deserves it.

Escobar isn't too bad, he's not as good as Swagger, Ryder, Miz, McIntynre, so having Vickie helps. Miss the heal manager, hopefully Vickie can get him over, EXCUSE ME and the crowd goes nuts.

Henry vs anyone is boring, I'm sorry, doesn't matter who it is. Keep him in tag matches. But he's beaten Batista, Orton, Kane and u cannot believe he beat Rhodes?!? Let's come down a bit there.

Mark Henry should seriously think of joining TNA. "He is a force to reckin' with.

Look at Psycho Sid. He is said to be signing with TNA..Go for it Mark if you are given a chance. You can help the young talent and make a mark in a growing company. Look at Rob Van Dam..Look at Jim Ross..

The reviewer chose to ignore how crazy over Mark Henry was with the MSG crowd. That place loved him. Screw the one dimensional work rate only based reviews and factor in crowd involvement. People love Face Mark
